Public Executions11 oct. 202601:15:36

This week on The Necessary Conversation we discuss:

☠️ Trump and Hegseth announced they’re going to execute a man by firing squad and livestream it on the internet for anyone to watch — including children. The execution of former Army Maj. Nidal Hasan is scheduled for December 3rd, just in time for Christmas. It would be the first U.S. military execution since 1961. The only countries that still do public executions? Afghanistan, Yemen, North Korea, and Somalia. After massive backlash, Trump started flip-flopping — one day after approving the plan. We ask Mary Lou: are public executions Christian?

🚨 ICE agents shot a man seven times in the neck while his 5-year-old child sat in the back seat. The lead agent, Brenden Cuni, was wearing construction clothes with nothing identifying him as law enforcement. Federal judges have previously questioned his conduct, he’s been sued for tasing a handcuffed man and forcing a pregnant woman to the ground, and doorbell video contradicted his sworn account in another case. Five thousand people marched in Manhattan in protest. We ask: how many times can ICE shoot into a car with a child before you denounce Trump?

🇷🇺 Trump made a deal with Putin to buy Russian diesel in exchange for easing sanctions — sanctions that were imposed over the invasion of Ukraine. Zelensky said he was blindsided and called it “not fair and not honest.” Trump’s response? “I suggest they get a new leader.” We ask: why does Trump like Putin so much?

🐴 We simmer down for Mary Lou to share something about horses that most people don’t know.

🏆 Trump threw a public tantrum after the Nobel Peace Prize went to South African judge Navi Pillay instead of him. He called her a “mystery person,” sanctioned the International Criminal Court where she served, and posted a rambling screed claiming he should have won eight Nobel Peace Prizes. He called it “an indelible stain on Norway.” Pillay joked she might share the prize with him. We read his unhinged post in full.

🦠 A lab technician at a Russian plague research institute died after a broken test tube incident, and nearly 200 people were placed under medical observation. A watchdog group revealed the NIH funded nearly $780,000 in research connected to the lab. Trump says Putin has it under control. We ask: does it worry you that Russia may be developing the plague and Trump is brushing it off? Remember when he said COVID would magically disappear?

🎤 Trump’s new press secretary Katie Zacharia has a history of calling Bill Gates a “eugenicist,” demanding the suspension of habeas corpus, insisting the 2020 election was stolen, encouraging Trump to run for a third term in violation of the Constitution, and blaming school shootings on “leftist transgender assailants.” She also called Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed — who was born in the U.S. — an indictment of the immigration system. We ask: will she be any better than Karoline Leavitt?

Every week we think it can’t get worse. Every week it does.

A Fine School04 oct. 202601:15:42

This week on The Necessary Conversation, Chad, Haley and Mary Lou discuss the week's politics. Plus we just appeared on Katy Tur's show on MS NOW this week, so we talk about that too.

🤦 Trump weighed in on the Cornell University gang rape case — by expressing sympathy for the accused. After Governor Hochul appointed AG Letitia James as special prosecutor to reopen the case, Trump said, "I feel badly for whoever she's looking at, because they won't get a fair shake. Cornell's a fine school, and I'm sure they'll do what's right." He attacked James as "corrupt" — the same AG whose civil fraud case against Trump resulted in a $450 million penalty. We ask Mary Lou: why does Trump feel sorry for the rapists?

📺 Trump spent at least $1.7 million in taxpayer money on propaganda TV ads featuring himself, including one nearly identical to a 2024 campaign ad. The funding was reportedly diverted from Homeland Security. Even Senate Majority Leader John Thune said it shouldn't be paid for with taxpayer dollars, and Republican Thomas Massie mocked it as something seen in banana republics. We ask: are you okay with your money paying for this?

⚖️ Jack Smith returned to Capitol Hill for a four-hour Senate grilling, standing firmly behind his investigation and saying there was "proof beyond a reasonable doubt that Trump engaged in criminal activity." The highlight came when Republican Eric Schmitt accused Smith of perjury for attending an NBA game in Atlanta — only for it to turn out Smith was at a women's college basketball game in Maryland featuring Caitlin Clark. Smith also revealed that the late Lindsey Graham would likely have been a witness in the 2020 election case.

📺 We simmer down to talk about our appearance on Katy Tur's show and which other shows we'd like to go on.

🎖️ Pete Hegseth delivered a speech to the military's top brass on the 214th day of the Iran war telling troops: "No fatties, no trannies, no beardos, no weirdos, no wimps, no radicals. Just warriors." He announced Elon Musk will now co-lead a "future of warfare" initiative and ordered a 20% cut to general and flag officer positions — while reports emerge that multiple sailors have attempted suicide aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln, which Hegseth's planning left at sea longer than any ship in modern history. We ask Mary Lou — she's used that same slur on this show — does she think Hegseth should have said it?

⚠️ A woman filed a lawsuit against Trump alleging he raped her in a Florida hotel room in 1997 with Jeffrey Epstein present. Trump now has over 30 allegations of sexual assault or misconduct, and two separate juries unanimously found him liable for sexually assaulting E. Jean Carroll — verdicts upheld by the Supreme Court. We ask: why do no other presidents have 30 sexual assault allegations against them?

🇮🇱 Bombshell reporting revealed that Netanyahu was warned about Hamas's October 7th attack before it happened — by both the UAE and Egypt, with Egypt's intelligence chief flying to Israel on September 26th, 2023 to deliver the warning personally. Netanyahu reportedly made a secret trip to the UAE this week asking them to deny the phone call. He has repeatedly rejected calls for an official inquiry. We ask: did Netanyahu let October 7th happen?

This one goes everywhere. Every single segment matters.

Trump Loves China27 sept. 202600:54:12

This week on The Necessary Conversation Chad, Haley, and Mary Lou dig into the following topics, with a special appearance by Bob late in the episode.

🇨🇳 American Dictator Donald Trump rolled out the red carpet for Chinese Dictator Xi Jinping — forcing U.S. service members onto their hands and knees to smooth the carpet — then hosted a lavish state dinner with billionaire tech overlords. This from the man who said in 2015 he'd give Xi "a McDonald's hamburger" and told Fox News to "forget the state dinners — that cost a fortune." The visit produced zero tangible results. China is Dad's number one enemy. We ask him: does he support Trump wining and dining Xi?

📺 After banning CNN, MS NOW, and Politico from the White House last week, Trump launched "Trump TV" — a 24/7 YouTube livestream of his speeches. It opened with 8,000 viewers, dropped to 2,500 within two hours, and bottomed out at 427 by Wednesday morning. Comments were disabled and the promo video used copyrighted clips from Friends and Breaking Bad. A Trump-appointed judge ordered press access restored, but reporters were still being turned away days later. We ask: why did Trump think he could get away with violating the Constitution?

⚠️ A report from The Atlantic revealed that Trump loyalists are pushing him to declare martial law to seize control of the midterm elections — including stationing military at polling places, confiscating ballots, or declaring the election invalid. Trump hasn't said he'll do it, but he did share a column calling the plan "foolproof." We ask the family: would you be okay with this?

💪 We simmer down with our favorite Arnold Schwarzenegger movie — and everyone has to do an impression.

⚖️ The Supreme Court handed Trump a 6-3 win allowing states to batch-check entire voter rolls against a citizenship database — despite experts noting the database returns faulty results and audits consistently show noncitizen voting is exceedingly rare. Justice Jackson warned the ruling puts lawful voters, including naturalized citizens, at risk of being wrongly flagged. We ask: how many citizens getting turned away is worth one noncitizen vote?

🔍 A ProPublica investigation revealed that the FBI was close to launching a bribery probe into Senator Susan Collins' super PAC receiving $150,000 through a shell company from a government contractor — but after Trump took office, the DOJ's public integrity unit was gutted and the investigation died. Meanwhile, Trump has made over 28,700 stock trades in 17 months — more than all members of Congress combined. We ask: is he corrupt?

🏠 And this one's personal. ICE launched operations in our hometown of Great Bend, Kansas — population 14,700. Agents targeted meat plants, feed yards, and Hispanic-owned businesses across western Kansas. Mexican restaurants closed their doors. Legal residents and citizens are afraid to leave their homes. On Thursday, residents rallied in the rain in support of their neighbors. Mary Lou was born there. Bob was born there. Haley was born there. We all lived there. We ask: how does it feel watching Trump invade your hometown?

Dad's back and this one hits home — literally.

Trump Bans Press From The Whitehouse20 sept. 202601:08:49

This week on The Necessary Conversation, Chad is joined by Haley and Mary Lou, who are together in Oklahoma. Bob is still out recovering.

🚫 Authoritarian Dictator Donald Trump banned CNN, MS NOW, and Politico from the White House, confiscating reporters' press badges — something not even Nixon did during Watergate. Trump offered no specific examples of "fake news" and said the ban could be lifted if outlets provide more favorable coverage of him. No Republicans spoke out against it. We ask Mary Lou: is freedom of the press important?

🏛️ A federal judge ruled again that Trump's name can't go on the Kennedy Center. Trump's response? He threatened to "rip it down." Photographers caught him aboard Air Force One examining a placard reading "Kennedy Center DEMOLISHED." The Trump-aligned board voted to close the building for up to two years. Thousands formed a human chain around the center in protest. We ask: why is he so obsessed with putting his name on this building?

👊 Two 17-year-old U.S. citizens from Texas — on their way to a Marine recruiter's office to enlist — were violently beaten by ICE agents after they stopped to record agents detaining people outside an elementary school. One had his wrist broken. An agent told him, "I don't give a damn… Your parents can't help you now." DHS called them "anti-ICE agitators." Both teens say they no longer plan to enlist. We ask: what message does this send?

🌾 We simmer down to talk about our favorite memories from Amarillo, Texas, where the family used to live — and the massive new data center being built there.

⛽ We're losing the war in Iran. Attacks hit Saudi Arabia's East-West pipeline — the last workaround after the Strait of Hormuz was shut down — forcing a complete shutdown. Iran and its allies now control all three major oil transport routes in the region. The International Energy Agency called it the largest supply disruption in the history of the global oil market. We ask Mary Lou: does she think Trump knows what he's doing?

☠️ Trump's EPA is repealing limits on greenhouse gas emissions from coal and gas power plants and moving to scrap the 2009 endangerment finding that greenhouse gases threaten public health. Preliminary analysis projects the added pollution could cause over 80,000 additional premature deaths and more than $1 trillion in health costs through 2047. Many of the power company CEOs benefiting are major Trump donors. We ask: is Trump willing to poison us so his friends get richer?

🧟 Mitch McConnell returned to the Senate after 92 days out of public view, casting a deciding vote on Monday. But by Thursday he was filmed being loaded into an SUV staring into space, seemingly unaware reporters were speaking to him. We ask: what other job lets you disappear for three months and come back like this?

🌍 And we close with a World War 3 update. European governments are escalating civil defense preparations amid intelligence that Russia may be planning a major escalation. This morning Ukraine fired over 1,000 drones at Russia, including hundreds toward Moscow, in what Moscow's mayor called the biggest drone attack ever on the capital.

No Bob this week but this one covers everything from the First Amendment to the end of the world. Buckle up.

Trump Sleeps While America Mourns13 sept. 202601:12:54

This week on The Necessary Conversation, it's Chad, Haley, and Mary Lou. Bob is still out recovering.

💵 Trump held the first-ever midterm convention in Dallas, dubbed "Trump-a-palooza," where he promised every American adult $5,000 if Republicans win the midterms — a pledge that would cost $1.2 trillion with zero details on how it would be funded. He claimed the arena was "sold out" despite thousands of empty seats and even asked people not to use the bathroom so photos wouldn't show the gaps. He also asked the audience to raise their right hands and pledge an oath — not to the country, not to the Constitution, but to him. Then he told voters to "cheat like hell." This is now the fourth time Trump has promised Americans cash they've never received.

⛽ Gas prices hit their highest level ever for this time of year — $4.15 for regular, nearly $6 for diesel. Trump promised during his campaign to cut gas prices by 50% within 12 months. Now he says prices will only drop after the war he started ends, and claims gas will eventually fall below $2. We ask Mary Lou: does she still believe him?

📺 Trump's FCC threatened Jimmy Kimmel, his show, and ABC's affiliates over an interview with Texas Democratic Senate nominee James Talarico. Kimmel pulled it from ABC to protect the network's local stations and posted it to YouTube instead — where it got 6.8 million views, nearly triple Trump's RNC speech viewership. We ask: do we still have freedom of speech?

🤔 We simmer down with a fun one — if you could ask Trump one question and he had to answer truthfully, what would it be?

🤖 A wave of AI developments this week. Over 1,200 OpenAI test agents launched a coordinated cyberattack on another AI platform. A researcher resigned from Anthropic saying AI companies are "gambling with our lives" and could "kill us all by the end of the decade." Anthropic's own alignment lead put the odds of AI killing all humans at over 10%. Then Anthropic's CEO published an essay urging the industry to slow down — and even Sam Altman and Elon Musk agreed. Trump still has no plan for AI regulation. We ask: should we be afraid?

🔒 A Washington Post report revealed that at least four European countries — Poland, Norway, Latvia, and Britain — have sought U.S. help investigating Epstein-related leads and Attorney General Todd Blanche has ignored every single request. Poland is examining links between Epstein and Russian intelligence. Norway has already charged three prominent figures. Latvia identified a victim. Britain is investigating a former ambassador. All requests unanswered. We ask: why is Blanche protecting pedophiles?

😴 Trump attended the 25th anniversary September 11 memorial at the Pentagon — and fell asleep. Multiple times. He slumped in his chair with his eyes closed as the names of the 184 victims were read aloud, during Hegseth's remarks, and while a choir sang. The White House called anyone who noticed a liar. We ask Mary Lou: is falling asleep at a 9/11 memorial acceptable for a president?

No Bob this week but the three of us didn't hold back.

How Close Is Trump To Dying?06 sept. 202601:15:36

This week on The Necessary Conversation, it's Chad, Haley, and Mary Lou. Bob is still out recovering but getting better. We miss you, Dad. ❤️

🤒 How close is Trump to death? Photos from a White House Rose Garden dinner went viral showing Trump sweating excessively and looking visibly ill — the latest in a long string of swollen ankles, bruised hands, and constantly falling asleep on camera. Then two days later he stepped off a plane with freshly dyed brown hair in what appears to be a desperate attempt to look younger. We ask Mom: does she think Trump is healthy?

💣 Day 190 of Trump's war with Iran and now Trump and Vance are both claiming it's not a war. Vance said "there is no active shooting" — despite three consecutive days of U.S.-Iran exchanges of fire that same week. Trump called it "small potatoes." Then on Saturday, the U.S. struck three Iranian oil tankers after Iran launched ballistic missiles at two Navy ships. Eighteen U.S. service members are dead. We ask Mom: is sending 18 Americans to their deaths "small potatoes"?

🗳️ Trump is trying to kill mail-in voting before the midterms. A new USPS rule would force states to redesign ballot envelopes, upload voter data to a federal portal, and get pre-approval — or USPS will refuse to deliver their ballots. A federal judge blocked it in 23 states, but it's headed to the Supreme Court. Mail voting was 43% of all ballots in 2020. And of course, Trump himself votes by mail. We ask: why is he trying so hard to make it harder for people to vote?

✈️ We simmer down to hear about Haley's latest galavanting.

🌍 The UN announced the world will breach the 1.5°C Paris climate target "within the next few years." Earth is already at 1.4°C above pre-industrial levels. The goal has officially shifted from preventing climate change to surviving it as a species. Meanwhile, Trump has withdrawn from the Paris Agreement, repealed the EPA's Endangerment Finding, and cut funding for NOAA weather monitoring and climate research — during one of the worst climate disaster years on record. We ask Mom: do you think global warming is real now?

📞 Reporting revealed that inmates at four Oklahoma prisons are being used to make political telemarketing calls for Republican candidates, paid $2 an hour while the state collects $10. The calls are funded by a conservative super PAC that paid roughly $600,000 to the vendor. Some inmates say the scripts go beyond polling into outright campaigning. We ask: why aren't inmates campaigning for Democrats too?

🎖️ Army Secretary Dan Driscoll — the youngest ever to hold the position and a close friend of JD Vance — resigned after clashing with Pete Hegseth over the firing of senior generals and the blocking of modernization efforts. His exit leaves the Army without Senate-confirmed civilian or uniformed leadership during an active war. The U.S. has a $900 billion defense budget. Iran's is roughly $15 billion. We ask the obvious question: why can't we beat them?

No Dad this week but Chad, Haley, and Mom covered a lot of ground. Bob will be back.

Trump Tries To Rename Lake Ontario30 août 202601:02:04

This week on The Necessary Conversation, it's just Chad and Mary Lou holding it down. Bob is still out recovering — getting better every day — and Haley is off galavanting again.

🇨🇦 Trump escalated his trade war with Canada, slapping 50% tariffs on roughly $20 billion in Canadian goods with more levies on vehicles and steel coming January 1. Canada matched it "dollar for dollar, rate for rate" and pledged CA$7.5 billion to support affected workers. Then Trump signed an executive order to rename Lake Ontario "Lake America." Canada's response? Their leaders called Trump a "loser," a "dictator," and the "king of bankruptcies." Estimates project the average American household will pay about $2,512 in tariff costs this year. We ask Mom: is this helping anyone?

🎖️ The number of U.S. service members seeking conscientious-objector discharges has skyrocketed — roughly a 10,000% increase over normal levels. Troops cite ethical and legal objections to targeting civilian infrastructure in Iran and killing civilians in Operation Southern Spear. In a normal year there are about 50 inquiries. March alone had 429. We ask: are Trump and Hegseth making our military stronger or destroying it?

👶 ICE detained 5-year-old Liam Tadeo in Austin after pulling his father over on the way to a soccer game. The father had no criminal record. Both were sent to the Dilley detention facility. Trump has detained more than 6,200 children in his second term — ten times the number under Biden. At least 500 were babies and toddlers age 3 or under.

✈️ We skip the simmer down as Haley is in parts unknown.

🏙️ The 25th anniversary of September 11 is coming up, and Trump pulled out of the Ground Zero ceremony because they won't let him speak. The memorial has barred politicians from speaking since 2012 to keep the event focused on the victims. Every other president has honored the day regardless. Trump will go to the Pentagon instead — where he can have the microphone. We ask Mom: does this bother her at all?

🏔️ Trump has been quietly pressuring the National Park Service to hand over a strip of land inside Yosemite National Park to a private real estate developer — a Trump campaign donor whose associates include Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick. The developer wants to build a private road through the park for a potential luxury resort or residence. We ask: should Trump's donors be able to buy land in our national parks?

⛪ Reporting revealed that ICE ran covert surveillance operations inside churches, libraries, parks, and gyms in Minnesota, placing undercover agents in activist meetings, recording conversations, logging names, and collecting license plate numbers. At least five Midwest churches were named. ICE arrested two activist leaders connected to a St. Paul church. We ask Mom: should ICE be allowed to go undercover in churches?

Just Chad and Mom this week but the conversation went deep. Dad and Haley will be back soon.

Trump Is Slaughtering Horses23 août 202601:08:33

This week on The Necessary Conversation, it's Chad, Haley, and Mary Lou. Bob is still out but getting stronger every day — we're hoping to have him back soon. Hang in there, Dad. ❤️

🐴 A New York Times investigation revealed Trump's Bureau of Land Management has sold over 6,300 federally protected wild horses — many for as little as $25 — to buyers who appear to be slaughterhouses or brokers flipping them for meat. That's more than double the historic average. Once sold, the horses lose all federal protection. We ask Mom how she feels about Trump selling America's wild horses for slaughter.

👀 New details emerged about Natalie Harp, Trump's 35-year-old executive assistant who follows him everywhere with printouts, once climbed into an SUV trunk to stay near him, and was photographed sprinting after his golf cart in Scotland. Two letters she wrote to Trump were published this week — filled with apologies, begging forgiveness, calling him her "Guardian and Protector," telling him he has "the absolute right to cuss me out," and saying "You are all that matters to me." We ask: is this a healthy working relationship or is this a cult?

🇨🇦 Canada suspended trade negotiations with the U.S. after Trump slapped 50% tariffs on hockey sticks, building materials, liquor, and clothing — roughly $28 billion in Canadian goods. Canada vowed to match the tariffs "dollar for dollar." We ask Mom: have tariffs made the economy better yet?

📰 We simmer down to talk about our appearance in the New York Times this week.

🥬 America's food supply is falling apart. A massive lettuce recall sickened nearly 11,000 people across 17 states. Over 19 million eggs were recalled for Salmonella. Frozen blueberries were pulled for E. coli. Trump cut over 7,000 FDA and CDC employees, slashed 20% of FDA staff including food inspectors, and removed Cyclospora — the exact parasite behind the lettuce outbreak — from routine screening. We ask: is Trump making our food safer?

📷 The pushback against Flock surveillance cameras is exploding. At least 100 cities have deactivated cameras or canceled contracts. Citizens are cutting them down, taping over lenses, and spray painting them. Halloween is being promoted online as "De-Flock America" night. Meanwhile, one California city found Flock misread license plates in 71% of stolen vehicle alerts, and an innocent driver was surrounded by armed police after his car was misidentified. There are now roughly 130,000 Flock cameras on American streets — up from 6,200 in January 2025. We ask: are you okay with living in a surveillance state?

🚨 ICE arrested 51,000 people in July — the largest single month in DHS history — to meet Trump's 2,000-per-day quota. Independent reporting found 67% of those arrested had no criminal convictions, and nearly 40% had no convictions or pending charges. ICE has put over 6,200 children in their detention facilities, some under one year old. We ask Mom: if they've been doing this for a year and a half, shouldn't they have gotten most of the criminals by now?

Lost At Sea16 août 202601:13:18

This week on The Necessary Conversation, Chad, Haley, and Mary Lou dig into the biggest political issues of the past 7 days.

🚢 The USS Abraham Lincoln has been at sea for over 260 days — more than 200 without a port call — the longest continuous deployment in modern history. Reports describe exhaustion, rationed food, suicidal thoughts, and at least one sailor who attempted to jump to his death. Nearly 200 family members confronted Navy leadership in San Diego over conditions and fears their loved ones will harm themselves. When asked if the deployment was too long, Trump said it hadn't been nearly long enough. We ask Mom and Dad: does Trump care about these sailors at all?

⚡ ICE is spending $20 million on electric shock gloves that deliver intense pain when pressed against a person's skin. The manufacturer's own manual warns they can cause serious injury or death. We ask: should ICE be given yet another way to kill people?

🏛️ Trump's hand-picked Kennedy Center board voted 20-3 to put his name back on the building — in direct defiance of a federal judge's order that only Congress can rename it. After being forced to remove the letters, Trump had the facade covered with a tarp that's been up for months. If he can't have his name on it, apparently nobody gets to see it. We ask: why is he spending time on this while we're at war?

🔮 We simmer down to discuss the big question — do you think we come back after we die?

🤛 Republican congressional candidate Max Miller is refusing to drop out of his race despite his ex-wife accusing him of attacking her with boiling water and breaking their daughter's collarbone, plus abuse allegations from two other women including former Trump press secretary Stephanie Grisham. Meanwhile, the Democratic Senate nominee in Maine dropped out after sexual misconduct allegations and pressure from his own party. We ask: why do Republicans and Democrats treat these situations so differently?

👋 Karoline Leavitt announced she's leaving as White House press secretary, citing family. Her tenure was widely characterized as combative and dishonest. Trump says she'll stay on as a top outside advisor. We ask Mom: did you actually like her?

🌹 Democratic primary turnout is surging to levels not seen in decades — nearly 800,000 in Wisconsin, 1.5 million in Michigan. And democratic socialists are winning big: Zohran Mamdani in New York, Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan, Melat Kiros toppling a 27-year incumbent in Denver, and more than 30 socialist primary wins across the country. They're running on Medicare for All, affordable housing, and higher taxes on the wealthy. We ask Mom: do you like the democratic socialists? Do you think they can win?

This one covers everything from the ocean to outer space to the afterlife. Buckle up.

Todd Blanche Confirmation Means Trump Is Above The Law09 août 202601:04:19

This week on The Necessary Conversation, Chad, Haley, and Mary Lou cover the biggest stories in American politics.

⚖️ The Senate confirmed Todd Blanche — Trump's personal criminal defense lawyer — as the permanent Attorney General by a single vote. Mom was told Blanche was just an interim replacement. That was a lie. Blanche has already withheld over 3 million Epstein documents, doxxed victims including their nude photos, and negotiated the deal that made Trump and his family permanently immune from paying taxes. We ask Mom: do you see the conflict of interest now?

⛽ Iran published its list of demands to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, which has been closed since February: end the war permanently, lift the naval blockade, withdraw U.S. forces, lift sanctions, release frozen assets, and pay war reparations. Trump and Rubio are unlikely to agree because it would mean admitting they lost. We ask: should Trump just meet the demands and get gas prices back down?

💸 Court filings revealed Trump has quietly given about $100 billion in tariff refunds to giant corporations — $2.2 billion to Apple, $1.3 billion to Ford, $600 million to Amazon. These companies passed tariff costs on to shoppers through higher prices, and most aren't lowering them now. We remind Mom that Trump promised every American a $2,000 check from tariff revenue. She hasn't gotten hers.

🌽 We simmer down to revisit a legendary piece of family lore — the can of corn — from three different perspectives.

🏦 Court filings revealed Capital One closed roughly 385 Trump-affiliated bank accounts in 2021 for suspected money laundering, including accounts tied to the Trump Organization and Eric Trump. We ask Mom why she thinks a bank would shut down that many accounts.

💀 New reporting revealed the true toll of Operation Southern Spear — Trump's strikes on suspected drug boats in the Caribbean that have killed approximately 220 people. Relatives say the dead were mostly laborers and fishermen. A top Pentagon official admitted the very first strike may have killed human trafficking victims. Cocaine prices have actually dropped since the operation began, and fentanyl mostly enters the country by land. Cost to taxpayers: $4.7 billion. We ask Mom if she thinks all 220 were drug dealers.

🗳️ Abdul El-Sayed won the Democratic Senate primary in Michigan, defeating the establishment-backed candidate despite a $65 million onslaught of outside money — much of it from AIPAC. He's running on Medicare for All, getting money out of politics, and affordable housing. Mom wants universal healthcare. So does he. We ask if she supports him.

📉 The economy lost 23,000 jobs in July — the worst month since the pandemic — against projections of 83,000 new jobs. We ask Mom if she still thinks Trump is making the economy better.

🚨 Reporting from The Guardian revealed ICE is force-feeding hunger-striking prisoners — inserting tubes through their noses and into their stomachs against their will. One Kurdish asylum seeker was force-fed for nearly eight months. Prisoners are striking to protest overcrowded conditions, worm-infested food, inadequate medical care, and physical, sexual, and psychological abuse. We ask Mom: are you okay with this?

Every week it gets worse. And every week we talk about it.

Trump Caught Lying About The Reflecting Pool02 août 202601:01:50

This week on The Necessary Conversation, Chad, Haley,  and Mary Lou discuss week 23 of Trump's illegal war with Iran, and the possibility that it could be the beginning of World War 3.

🌍 Saudi Arabia joined U.S. strikes on Iran-backed militants in Iraq, killing at least 20. Jordan and Kuwait reported incoming Iranian strikes. Egypt was hit by a drone attack of unclear origin. China and Russia are openly providing Iran with intelligence on U.S. military positions. Only 28% of Americans approve of Trump's handling of the war. Trump is threatening fresh strikes on civilian infrastructure this weekend. We ask Mom and Dad — you were always worried Biden would start a world war. How worried are you now?

🟢 Remember when Trump said vandals cut a 300-foot gash in his reflecting pool? The DOJ dropped the felony case against the 67-year-old three-time Olympic canoeist they arrested, admitting the damage came from a botched contractor installation rushed to meet Trump's deadline. Trump rejected his own DOJ's findings and chastised U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro for dropping the charges. The pool has been drained for the second time in three months. Total cost so far: $16 million.

🏥 Mitch McConnell's office released another "proof of life" photo — widely believed to be AI-generated or digitally altered. He's been hospitalized since June 14, missed 38 consecutive Senate votes, done zero media interviews, and made no public appearances. The deadline for declaring him unfit for office is tomorrow. We ask: is Mitch McConnell alive?

🎒 We simmer down to hear about some galavanting.

⚰️ Trump altered the official death toll of American soldiers in Iran. The Pentagon's casualty count dropped from 18 to 14 overnight, with four deaths disappearing from the system. The Pentagon called it a "temporary data disruption." Three military officials told the New York Times the count was deliberately changed. We ask: if they're lying about the number of dead, how many have really been killed?

📷 A Texas deputy used Flock Safety's AI-powered camera network to hunt a woman suspected of self-administering an abortion, sweeping 83,345 cameras across 6,809 networks — reaching into states where abortion is legal. Under Trump, the number of Flock cameras in the U.S. has exploded from 6,205 to over 116,000. People are sawing them down, throwing paint on them, and ramming trucks into them. We ask: should anyone have access to cameras that track all of us?

🦠 Dr. Anthony Fauci appeared before the Senate for nearly three hours and invoked the Fifth Amendment over a hundred times. Republicans tried to goad him into statements about COVID's origins. Democrats called it an entrapment hearing. Fauci holds a pardon but his legal team concluded that answering new questions could expose him to new charges. We ask Mom and Dad what they really think about Fauci and COVID.

The walls are closing in on everything. This one's intense.

Trump 202826 juil. 202601:08:03

This week on The Necessary Conversation, Chad, Haley and Mary Lou dig into day 149 of Trump's war with Iran. 18 American soldiers dead. And the bill just keeps climbing.

💣 If you support Trump, you support the war in Iran. Thirteen consecutive nights of strikes. Four U.S. soldiers killed since July 17th. Nearly 500 injuries. Hegseth says the $37.5 billion we've already spent isn't enough and is requesting $67.1 billion more. The House passed a resolution urging Trump to end the war 214-208. The Senate killed the binding version 47-49. Trump never got congressional authorization. We ask Mom point blank: do you support this war? Do you still support Trump?

⚽ Trump crashed the World Cup final at MetLife Stadium, inserting himself onto the victory stage with Spain's team and refusing to leave — even as the FIFA president tried to nudge him out of the celebratory photo. The stadium erupted in boos that never stopped. A new poll shows Trump at 31% approval and -37 net approval, his lowest ever. We ask: how does the rest of the world see us now?

☢️ Trump signed a 30-year agreement giving Saudi Arabia — the country responsible for 9/11 — a pathway to enriching nuclear fuel. The deal is loaded with Trump family financial ties: Brookfield, which owns Westinghouse, bailed out Kushner's 666 Fifth Avenue. Kushner's firm got $2 billion from the Saudi sovereign wealth fund. Kushner is currently serving as Trump's Middle East envoy. We ask: why are we helping the country that attacked us get a nuclear program?

🐾 We simmer down to talk about which pet we'd bring back from the dead.

🔗 The House passed a bill to permanently merge U.S. and Israeli defense technology — counter-drone systems, AI, cyber warfare, quantum computing — embedding Israeli tech into the U.S. defense supply chain in a way that bypasses the annual appropriations process. This as much of the world considers Netanyahu a war criminal. We ask: what does this merger say about us?

🎤 Trump returned to the White House Correspondents' Dinner three months after the original was cut short by a gunman. He gave a rambling hour-long speech attacking journalists, mocked Kaitlan Collins for winning an award, shrugged when reporters were honored for their Epstein coverage, wore a "Trump 2028" hat, and told the room: "When I'm not around, you're going to be broke."

📈 The New York Times revealed Trump Jr.'s investment firm has ballooned to over $3 billion with returns of roughly 200% — fueled by bets on companies that directly benefit from his father's government decisions, including Polymarket, which went from $300 million to $15 billion after Trump loosened regulations. Meanwhile, a watchdog report found over $50 billion in new government contracts went to corporate donors of Trump's White House ballroom. We ask: at what point is this just open corruption?

This one goes hard from the jump. Every minute counts.

Election Fraud19 juil. 202601:00:56

This week on The Necessary Conversation, Chad, Haley, and Mary Lou enter a brave new world in which Mary Lou said she wants to abolish ICE. Let that sink in.

🚨 ICE has now killed two people in two weeks — neither of whom were the targets of their operations. Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, a 52-year-old father with no criminal record, was shot in Houston. Then Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero, a 25-year-old Colombian legally authorized to work in the U.S., was killed in Maine. The agent who killed Guerrero had previously been removed from a fire department for insubordination, and his ex-wife says he pointed a gun at her in the shower and has displayed racism. ICE briefly paused vehicle stops — then Trump overruled them within hours. Mom said on Wednesday she wants ICE abolished. Now Trump wants them back on the streets. We ask: does she still agree with Trump?

💣 Week 21 of Trump's war with Iran. The U.S. completed seven consecutive nights of strikes pushing deeper into Iran's interior. Two U.S. service members were killed in Jordan and one is missing in action. Iran suspended the memorandum of understanding and the Supreme Leader called Trump's signature "worthless." Trump responded by threatening to bomb Iran's power plants and bridges next week — which would be a war crime. We ask Mom if she still supports this.

📺 Trump gave a primetime speech claiming declassified documents prove China tampered with the 2020 election and manufactured illegal ballots for Biden. The problem? The actual intelligence assessment he declassified directly contradicts him, stating Beijing "did not interfere with election infrastructure." ABC, NBC, and CNN refused to air it. Fox aired it but admitted it couldn't confirm his claims. Trump demanded their broadcast licenses be revoked.

🏡 We simmer down to talk about our favorite town we've lived in.

🗳️ After firing everyone at the Election Assistance Commission last week, Trump's new DHS head Markwayne Mullin threatened states with loss of federal funding, fines, and even prison time if they refuse to hand over their voter rolls to the Trump administration. The Constitution gives states the power to run their own elections. We ask: is Trump rigging the midterms?

⚖️ Todd Blanche — Trump's personal lawyer who was only supposed to be a temporary AG — had his confirmation hearings to become permanent Attorney General. After nine months of refusing to meet with Epstein survivors, he finally spent about an hour with them under pressure. They called him "abrasive," "condescending," and "demoralizing." One survivor said there was "no credible plan" for accountability. Republicans appear ready to confirm him anyway.

💪 Pete Hegseth launched mandatory testosterone testing for all service members 30 and older, calling it "The High-T Department of War." No word on how this affects women in the military, and the Navy SEALs have been under scrutiny for testosterone and PED abuse after a recruit's death. We ask Mom and Dad: is this any different than hormone therapy for trans people?

Mom is turning. This one's a must-watch.

Lindsey Graham Dead12 juil. 202601:06:18

This week on The Necessary Conversation, Chad, Haley, and Mary Lou discuss...

🪦 Senator Lindsey Graham died Saturday at 71 following a sudden illness, ending 23 years in the Senate. The man who once called Trump a "race-baiting, xenophobic, religious bigot" became one of his biggest supporters. SC's Republican governor will appoint a replacement, and Trump says he already has someone in mind. We look back at Graham's legacy and what comes next.

💣 Week 20 of Trump's war with Iran — a war he said would be over in five. Trump declared the ceasefire "over" at the NATO summit and called Iranian leadership "scum." The Wall Street Journal reported Israel shared intelligence that Iran may be planning to assassinate Trump, though U.S. intelligence suspects it could be Israeli manipulation to push escalation. Trump posted that the U.S. would "decimate and destroy" Iran with "1000 Missiles Locked and Loaded" if they tried. Oil prices jumped 8%. We ask Mom and Dad: do you still think Trump is a good president?

🚨 ICE shot and killed Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, a 52-year-old father and homebuilder who lived in the U.S. for 35 years with no criminal record. He wasn't even the target of the operation. His passengers say the official ICE account is a lie, and ICE claims none of the officers were wearing body cameras — which they blamed on Democrats. No charges have been filed. No officers have been named. We ask: is this murder?

🔍 New details emerged in the case of Nolan Wells, an 18-year-old college football player who disappeared during a July 4th boat trip and was later found dead. His friends returned without him, had his phone and keys, and texts and Snapchat messages appeared deleted. We ask: what really happened on that island?

📺 We simmer down to talk about the Love Island finale and our favorite reality shows.

🗳️ Trump fired the remaining Democratic commissioners on the Election Assistance Commission, and the Republican commissioner resigned — leaving the only federal agency devoted to election administration with zero commissioners and unable to function. This is the same agency that refused Trump's demand to require proof of citizenship on voter registration forms. With midterms approaching, there is now no federal election oversight at all. We ask: is Trump rigging the elections?

🦋 Trump gutted the Endangered Species Act by ruling that completely destroying an animal's habitat no longer counts as "harm" unless an animal is directly killed. This opens critical habitats for drilling, mining, and development. Species now at risk of total extinction include the Florida manatee, the northern spotted owl, the wolverine, and Mom's beloved monarch butterfly. We ask her: what will you do if monarchs go extinct because of Trump?

📰 Four New York Times journalists were served federal subpoenas at their homes for reporting factually correct information about Trump still using the old Air Force One. The subpoenas came from the same U.S. Attorney Trump just nominated to lead national intelligence. The NYT's top lawyer said federal agents on reporters' doorsteps "should shock the conscience of any American." We ask: does freedom of the press still exist?

This episode goes everywhere. Buckle up.

America 25005 juil. 202601:08:07

This week on The Necessary Conversation,Chad, Haley, and Mary Lou discuss the 250 year of America as the country seems to be crumbling.

🎪 Trump's Great American State Fair was a disaster from start to finish. Sparse crowds, cheap decorations, expensive food, nearly every musical act backed out, a stage collapsed during rehearsal, a 110° heat wave shut parts of it down, 51 people were treated for heat-related illness, hail disrupted Mount Rushmore, and thunderstorms forced a full evacuation of the National Mall on the actual Fourth, delaying Trump's speech until 11 PM. Then a House Democrats' report found that donors intending to fund the original bipartisan celebration had their money rerouted to Trump's organization — which is wire fraud. We ask Mom: was this a success?

🏴 To celebrate America's 250th birthday, hundreds of masked Neo-Nazis from Patriot Front marched through Washington, D.C. carrying Confederate flags and chanting "Reclaim America." The White House has issued no statement. We ask: why is Trump silent about Nazis marching on the Capitol on the Fourth of July?

🏥 Leaked emergency dispatch audio revealed that Mitch McConnell suffered cardiac arrest at his home on June 14, with CPR in progress. He hasn't been seen publicly since June 11 and his office won't say what happened. We ask the question everyone's thinking: is Mitch McConnell dead?

🎆 We simmer down to talk about what we did for the Fourth of July — and whether Taylor Swift is getting married.

💰 The New York Times revealed Trump and Commerce Secretary Lutnick cut a deal giving Don Jr. and Eric access to one of the world's largest tungsten reserves through a company run out of Trump Tower, with $1.6 billion in government financing. Trump's financial disclosure shows he made $2.24 billion in 2025 — more than all four years of his first term combined. Then Trump went on camera and admitted his sons are using insider information, saying "if they buy an energy-efficient truck, they have inside information."

📜 It's the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, so we read some of the founding fathers' grievances against King George III — blocking immigration, ignoring the judiciary, starting wars without consent, imposing taxes, eliminating jury trials — and ask Mom if any of that sounds familiar.

🕵️ Bill Pulte fired dozens of intelligence officials including staff at the National Counterterrorism Center, calling them "deep state." Meanwhile, 260 FBI analysts were pulled off actual crime investigations to search for voter fraud in the 2020 election. We ask: is America safer now?

⚖️ The Supreme Court had a massive week. They struck down Trump's attempt to end birthright citizenship, ruled states can ban transgender athletes from women's sports, and deregulated campaign finance — letting political parties spend unlimited money on elections. We break down all three.

This might be our biggest episode ever. Buckle up.

Is Trump Close To Death?28 juin 202601:08:39

This week on The Necessary Conversation, Chad, Haley, and Mary Lou discuss the biggest topics in politics.

💊 News broke that the FDA's "compassionate use" program — reserved for patients with serious or life-threatening conditions — was used to give a single 79-year-old man access to an unapproved experimental drug called Retatrutide. Trump was 79 when the request was made. The drug treats obesity, sleep apnea, and pulmonary hypertension — conditions that can be fatal in combination. The White House is denying it's Trump. We ask: should the president get special access to treatments no other American can?

💣 Week 18 of Trump's war. New reporting reveals the Joint Chiefs warned Trump before the war that striking Iran would close the Strait of Hormuz. He ignored them. The memorandum of understanding he signed is already falling apart as Iran launched drones at ships in the strait this week. The Senate voted to limit Trump's war powers, then blocked its own vote the next day. We ask Mom and Dad: how many weeks of war before you turn on him? Or is forever okay?

👻 Trump's Great American State Fair kicked off and almost nobody showed up. Trump posted it was "packed to the brim, at least 45,000 people." NBC estimated roughly 1,000. We ask: is MAGA abandoning Trump?

🎨 We simmer down to talk about our favorite pieces of visual art.

🛂 Trump posted the design of a new passport featuring his image superimposed over the Declaration of Independence with the caption "Welcome, but be good!" — apparently not understanding that passports are issued to Americans leaving the country, not people arriving. No sitting president or world leader has ever put their face on a passport. Not even the most authoritarian governments.

⚖️ The Supreme Court issued two 6-3 rulings effectively ending asylum in America, giving DHS unchecked power to deport Haitian and Syrian nationals and allowing the administration to turn away asylum seekers before they reach the border. Meanwhile, over 6,000 white South Africans have entered the U.S. under a refugee program — each receiving a gift bag with a tablet, an American flag, Trump's 1776 Commission report, PragerU materials, and a children's book accusing South Africa of "favoring the Black population." Afghan allies who served alongside U.S. troops got nothing. Many are still blocked from entry.

📖 Texas voted to mandate Bible stories as required reading for all 5.5 million public school students — no texts from any other religion included. The same day, Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick stood in the Oval Office and declared: "The separation of church and state is not in the Constitution, and from this day forward, that phrase should have no power over people of all faiths ever again." We ask Mom and Dad: should public schools force kids to read the Bible?

Swamp Thing21 juin 202601:05:46

This week on The Necessary Conversation, Chad (who just turned 50! 🎂), Haley, and Mary Lou celebrate Father's Day and discuss:

💣 Week 17 of Trump's war with Iran. Trump declared "The Deal is now complete" on Sunday. By Wednesday he and Iran's president signed a memorandum of understanding at Versailles. By Thursday, Israel broke the ceasefire with 12 air raids on Lebanon, killing 47 people. By Saturday, Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz again. The deal is effectively dead. We ask Mom and Dad: why can't Trump close this deal, and why won't Netanyahu listen to him?

🟢 Trump promised to clean up the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool for under $2 million. It's now cost over $15 million, the "American Flag Blue" paint is peeling off in chunks, the water turned green with algae, and a 67-year-old three-time Olympian was arrested for touching a piece of already-detached liner. Both contracts were no-bid deals — one to a major Trump donor, the other to a company that had never held a federal contract. Trump blamed "Radical Left vandals." The National Guard was deployed to guard a peeling swimming pool.

👶 A police officer in Mississippi shot and killed 1-year-old Kohen Kartier Wiley in a Walmart parking lot. The mother says she was telling officers there was a baby in the car — and they fired anyway. The officer has not been named. Body camera footage hasn't been released. We ask a question that shouldn't need asking: are cops ever justified in killing a one-year-old?

🎉 We simmer down to celebrate Chad's 50th birthday. Mom shares her advice for the years ahead.

🏗️ Leaked internal records from the Washington Post reveal Trump's White House ballroom now costs $600 million — six times his original estimate — and taxpayers are paying for half of it through Secret Service, White House Military Office, and Executive Residence funds. This after Trump said repeatedly that taxpayers wouldn't pay "10 cents." We ask: did he lie?

🥊 At last week's White House UFC, fighter Josh Hokit used his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan to declare "Michelle Obama is a man." Dana White called it "nasty and false" but took no action. Trump smiled. The White House refused to condemn it. We ask Mom what she thinks — especially since Dad has said the same thing on this very show.

🚨 Federal prosecutors charged 15 people in Minnesota with conspiracy for protesting ICE, calling them an "antifa group." Twelve were arrested in early morning raids. When pressed, the U.S. Attorney couldn't cite a single injury to a federal agent. U.S. Marshals pepper-sprayed protesters outside the courthouse. We ask: is protesting ICE now a crime?

Another massive week. Let's get into it.

Trillionaire14 juin 202600:58:34

This week on The Necessary Conversation, Chad, Haley, and Mary Lou are recording just hours before UFC Freedom 250 kicks off on the White House lawn. It's also Trump's 80th birthday, making him the oldest president in American history. 🎂

💰 Trump helped Elon Musk become the world's first trillionaire. SpaceX raised $75 billion in the biggest IPO in history — despite losing $4.9 billion last year. The Nasdaq and FTSE Russell changed their rules to fast-track SpaceX into their indexes, meaning your retirement fund could be forced to hold SpaceX stock whether you want it or not. At least 10 Trump administration officials disclosed holding tens of millions in SpaceX ahead of the IPO.

📈 A reporter asked Trump about inflation hitting 4.2%, the highest since 2023. His response: "No, I love it. I love the inflation." This is the same president who said in May he doesn't "think about Americans' financial situation" at all. We ask Mom and Dad if they still think he cares about regular people.

🔍 Bombshell reporting from the New York Times revealed that JD Vance led a Situation Room meeting last July specifically to protect Trump from the Epstein files. Attendees floated having Tucker Carlson interview Ghislaine Maxwell in prison, putting Vance on Joe Rogan to dilute the Epstein conversation, and even pardoning Maxwell. Their priority wasn't prosecuting anyone — it was protecting Trump.

🎉 We simmer down for a breather.

💣 Week 16 of Trump's war with Iran. A U.S. Apache helicopter was shot down, Iran attacked U.S. bases in Bahrain and Kuwait, and Iran claims U.S. strikes hit reservoirs supplying drinking water to 20,000 people. Trump said a deal would be signed by today — then said he wouldn't be there to sign it because he has to attend the UFC. When asked if negotiations were over, Trump said: "I couldn't care less... I thought they started to get very boring." No deal has been signed.

🥊 UFC Freedom 250 is happening tonight on the White House South Lawn beneath a 92-foot structure called "The Claw," with weigh-ins held at the Lincoln Memorial. Trump and the UFC are selling co-branded commemorative coins up to $11,999.99 with Trump's face on them. Trump's financial disclosure shows he bought TKO stock before announcing the event. Insider trading in plain sight.

😴 Trump turns 80 today and his age is showing. He fell asleep on camera for the second time in two weeks, and reporting revealed his "routine physical" at Walter Reed involved 22 doctors. We ask: is 80 too old to be president?

Happy birthday, Mr. President. Now wake up.

Trump Falls Asleep Again And Storms Out Of An Interview07 juin 202601:06:13

This week on The Necessary Conversation, Haley is back to join Chad and Mary Lou in the 15th week of Trump's illegal war with Iran. We discuss:

🏝️ Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner are buying a $1.4 billion former military island off Albania — complete with 3,600 Cold War nuclear bunkers, miles of tunnels, an underground hospital, and a Soviet submarine base. The deal is funded largely by Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi. Thousands of Albanians took to the streets in protest. We ask: why does the Trump family keep acquiring military bunkers?

💣 Week 15 of Trump's illegal war with Iran. One person killed and 63 injured in Kuwait, the U.S. shot down drones and struck Iranian radar sites, and Iran says no nuclear negotiations have taken place. Iran wants $24 billion in frozen assets released — roughly the same amount the war has cost us so far. Mom said this would be a six-week war. We check in.

🤡 Bill Pulte — the guy from the dildo video — is now officially the Director of National Intelligence. He has zero security or intelligence experience, didn't even have a security clearance, and Trump has told him to start firing people across all 18 intelligence agencies including the CIA and NSA. Trump also hinted he'll use Pulte to cast doubt on the midterm elections.

🎉 We simmer down to hear about some galavanting.

⚖️ Trump's $1.776 billion "Anti-Weaponization Fund" appears to be dead. A federal judge suspended it, and acting AG Todd Blanche told Congress "we are not moving forward with the fund, period." But the catch? Trump's family still has permanent legal immunity from IRS audits — meaning they never have to pay their owed taxes while the rest of us do.

😴 Sleepy Don strikes again. Trump fell asleep on camera during an Oval Office press conference about Iran — and was caught on mic farting loudly during one of his naps. This came one day after Rubio told Congress under oath that he's "never seen" Trump fall asleep. Trump hadn't been seen publicly for seven days before this, and when he resurfaced, viewers noticed a visibly swollen eye and hand. He's had four physicals in 16 months.

📋 The White House launched a new "Leftist Influencers" category on its media bias website, targeting independent journalists. This came the same week CBS fired Scott Pelley from 60 Minutes for pushing back against the network's new Trump-aligned leadership. We ask: do we still have a free press in America?

This one hits different. Strap in.

UFC is MAGA03 juin 202600:39:12

This week on The Necessary Conversation: Midweek Edition, it's just Chad and Mom (Mary Lou) trading videos from opposite sides of the political aisle. Dad (Bob) had a trip to the ER this week for a UTI — he's home now eating shrimp and recovering. Haley will be back Sunday. ❤️

🗳️ We kick off with Spencer Pratt's wild AI campaign ad for LA mayor that turns Karen Bass into a Batman villain who hurts puppies, then launches her into space. Mom sent it. Chad is baffled. We both agree it's ridiculous — but Spencer Pratt might actually end up in a runoff against Bass.

🎤 Trump is now floating canceling the Great American State Fair entirely after nearly every musical artist backed out. His solution? Replace it with a rally starring himself — "the man who gets much larger audiences than Elvis in his prime." Only Flo Rida and Vanilla Ice remain.

🏙️ Mom sends a clip of a podcaster roasting NYC Mayor Mamdani's plan to transfer ownership of neglected buildings to nonprofits or tenants. Chad and Mom go back and forth on whether that's wild or actually a good idea.

🍆 Chad shows Mom a resurfaced video of Bill Pulte — Trump's new Director of National Intelligence — getting slapped in the face with a dildo and receiving an award that reads "only the young." Mom doesn't want to talk dildos with her son but agrees: Trump needs to do better with his appointments. We also dig into Trump's insider trading with TKO/UFC stock.

🏗️ New side-by-side photos of the White House show what it used to look like versus what it looks like now — a giant hole for the ballroom and a massive UFC structure on the South Lawn. Mom says it looks like crap. Chad points out that Trump claims he needs the ballroom for security, but he's about to sit outside at a UFC fight with no enclosure.

😴 Chad plays a clip of Marco Rubio being shown video of Trump sleeping right next to him at a cabinet meeting — and Rubio tells Congress it never happened. Mom admits she sees Trump declining and getting more tired, but still thinks he should be president. Chad pushes back.

Mom's coming around on some things this week — she didn't like the White House construction, didn't like the Bill Pulte pick, and said she sees Trump's decline. Progress? We'll see Sunday.

Idiocracy31 mai 202600:43:06

This week on The Necessary Conversation, Bob is still on the mend and Haley is galavanting so  Chad and Mary Lou wade into conversations about:

🥊 Crews began building a UFC cage on the South Lawn of the White House. UFC Freedom 250 will double as a celebration of America's 250th birthday and Trump's personal birthday party. It's projected to cost over $60 million to produce with zero profit, plus millions more in taxpayer-funded security. Even Joe Rogan has concerns. We remind Mom about the time she was outraged that Obama built a basketball court.

🚨 Protests erupted at a private ICE detention center in Newark, New Jersey, where detainees went on a hunger strike over food containing maggots, overcrowded rooms, no blankets, and cold showers. Senator Andy Kim was pepper-sprayed during a peaceful protest, and ICE agents attacked protesters and media. The facility is run by GEO Group, which made $2.6 billion in revenue last year.

🎤 Nearly every musical artist pulled out of Trump's "Great American State Fair" after learning about its political ties. Morris Day, Young MC, Martina McBride, Bret Michaels, The Commodores, and others all bailed. As of Friday, only Flo Rida and Vanilla Ice are still scheduled. Trump said he might kick off the fair himself.

💍 We simmer down to celebrate Mom and Dad's 51st anniversary and ask for their relationship advice.

🔒 Pam Bondi finally testified before the House Oversight Committee about the Epstein files — but she wasn't sworn in under oath and the session wasn't videotaped, making nothing she said admissible. She blamed the botched file release on Todd Blanche. Democrats are now subpoenaing Blanche and Kash Patel. We ask: why are 3.5 million Epstein files still hidden?

💵 Trump unveiled plans to put his face on a new $250 bill for America's 250th anniversary — even though federal law bars living people from appearing on U.S. currency. He's already forced the Bureau of Engraving and Printing to design prototypes, and the chief who pushed back was reassigned.

⚖️ Trump's DOJ launched a criminal investigation into 82-year-old E. Jean Carroll — the woman who won $88 million in civil judgments after a jury found Trump liable for sexual abuse and defamation. The investigation is focused on whether she committed perjury. We ask: is this justice or revenge?

This one is packed wall to wall. Strap in.

Trump Is Robbing Us Blind24 mai 202600:59:31

This week on The Necessary Conversation, Chad, Haley, and Mary Lou discuss the biggest political topics of the week while Bob continues to recover.

We discuss:

🔍 Trump subpoenaed streamer Hasan Piker and CodePink co-founder Medea Benjamin over a humanitarian convoy to Cuba, raising serious First Amendment concerns. Meanwhile, we learned Trump made over 3,700 stock trades in his first three months of 2026 — more than 40 per market day — buying shares in companies like Nvidia, Oracle, and AMD right before announcing policies that sent their stocks soaring. He even posted Palantir's ticker symbol on Truth Social, the first time a sitting president has ever endorsed a specific stock. We ask: how is this not insider trading?

💰 Trump settled his $10 billion lawsuit against his own IRS by creating a $1.7 billion taxpayer-funded "Anti-Weaponization Fund" — essentially a slush fund for his allies, including nearly 1,600 January 6 rioters he already pardoned. About 40 of those pardoned rioters have since been rearrested for crimes including child sexual assault, rape, and conspiracy to murder FBI agents. The officers who were beaten defending the Capitol got nothing. Now the people who beat them are about to get paid.

🏦 But that wasn't even the worst part. Buried in the settlement was a one-page addendum declaring the U.S. government is "FOREVER BARRED" from pursuing any tax claims against Trump, his family, or his businesses — ever. Every American can be audited. Trump just made himself exempt. We ask Mom how she'd feel if Obama did this.

📺 We simmer down with everyone's favorite TV show of all time.

☠️ Trump lifted a ban on M-44 "cyanide bombs" — spring-loaded devices that spray lethal poison into an animal's mouth — for use on public lands. They've killed pets, endangered wildlife, and even poisoned people. He also blocked federal protections for monarch butterflies despite a 99% extinction probability for western monarchs. Mom loves monarchs. We have questions.

💧 The EPA repealed limits on PFAS "forever chemicals" in drinking water — rolling back the first new standards in 30 years. These chemicals never break down, accumulate in your body, and cause cancer, thyroid disease, and reproductive harm. Meanwhile, AI data centers are emerging as a major new source of PFAS contamination, poisoning thousands of drinking water wells.

💒 And finally — Donald Trump Jr. got married this week and his father didn't show up. Trump cited "circumstances pertaining to Government" but has found time for golf, UFC fights, and a two-day trip to China. We ask: is Trump a good dad? Has he been a good husband?

The full family is firing on all cylinders this week. You don't want to miss this one.

Trump's China Trip17 mai 202600:53:41

This week on The Necessary Conversation, Bob is still out dealing with some medical issues so Mary Lou, Chad and Haley hold down the fort and discuss:

🇨🇳 Trump took a two-day trip to China that was widely seen as a humiliation for America. President Xi called the U.S. a "declining nation," sat Trump in a smaller chair, and made zero commitments on Iran. Trump brought a squad of billionaires — including Elon Musk and Tim Cook on Air Force One — plus Eric and Lara Trump, but not Melania. He did bring his 34-year-old executive assistant Natalie Harp, fueling speculation. He left with nothing.

🤷 Trump said the quiet part out loud — twice. When asked if Americans' financial situations were motivating him to make a deal with Iran, he said: "Not even a little bit. I don't think about Americans' financial situation. I don't think about anybody." Gas hit $4.50/gallon the same day. When Fox's Bret Baier gave him a chance to walk it back, he doubled down: "Short-term pain. I'd make it again."

🏙️ NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani hit his 100-day mark and the results are in: he eliminated New York's $12 billion deficit, launched universal childcare, secured $30 million from bad landlords, and repaired over 6,000 apartments. Mom said New York would fall under Mamdani. We check in on that prediction.

🗣️ We simmer down with a round of speaking gibberish.

💰 Trump is expected to drop his $10 billion lawsuit against the IRS in exchange for creating a $1.7 billion taxpayer-funded slush fund to compensate allies — including nearly 1,600 January 6 defendants he already pardoned. The money comes from the Treasury's Judgment Fund, Trump has unchecked authority over who gets it, and there's zero oversight.

⚓ FBI Director Kash Patel got into a screaming match with a senator over his drinking — then we learned he took a "VIP snorkel" over the sunken USS Arizona at Pearl Harbor, where more than 900 sailors and Marines are still entombed. A marine veteran called it "like having a bachelor party at a church."

🎬 Trump's Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy is starring in a new reality show called "The Great American Roadtrip" — funded by Boeing, Shell, Toyota, United Airlines, and Royal Caribbean, all companies his department directly regulates. Taxpayers are covering his travel. Shell's profits doubled from the gas price surge. And Duffy filmed over seven months, meaning he wasn't doing his actual job. We ask: is this what a cabinet is supposed to look like?

Dad's back, the whole family is fired up, and this one goes everywhere.

Happy Mother's Day! 202610 mai 202600:52:46

This week on The Necessary Conversation, we celebrate Mother’s Day with a an update on Bob.

And we cover the biggest political issues of the week, which have Mary Lou getting even closer to leaving the Maga cult.

🗳️ Democracy is crumbling in real time. In the wake of the Supreme Court's gutting of voting rights protections, Tennessee carved up a majority-Black district in Memphis, Alabama passed a law to ignore its own primary results, Louisiana's governor suspended primaries after votes had already been cast, and South Carolina is looking at eliminating its only Democratic district. Seven of the 13 House members targeted by these Republican-drawn maps are Black or Latino. Democrats are countering with their own maps — but Virginia's Supreme Court just struck theirs down. We ask: is any of this fair? Is any of it not racist?

🐂 Trump unveiled a 22-foot gold-leafed statue of himself called "Don Colossus" at his golf course in Miami. Evangelical and Jewish clergy consecrated it with prayers at the base. Christian commentators are calling it a modern-day golden calf straight out of the Book of Exodus. A Catholic newsletter wrote that "a faith that cannot say no to a golden calf is not Catholic." We ask Mom — as a Catholic — does this bother her?

💣 Week 10 of Trump's war with Iran and the ceasefire is officially dead. Trump launched "Operation Project Freedom" to escort ships through the Strait of Hormuz, Iran responded with cruise missiles and drones, the U.S. destroyed six Iranian boats and disabled two oil tankers, and at least one sailor was killed. Trump called it "just a love tap" and insists the ceasefire is still in effect. Iran's foreign minister says otherwise.

🎉 We simmer down for a breather.

🎤 Trump threw a tantrum at ABC's Rachel Scott for asking why he's focused on construction projects while the country is at war and gas prices are soaring. He called her question "a disgrace to our country" and a forensic lip reader confirmed he called her "a bitch" on camera. This adds to a pattern that includes calling female reporters "piggy," "ugly, both inside and out," and "stupid and nasty."

🏗️ Remember when Trump said taxpayers wouldn't pay "a dime" for the White House ballroom? This week Senate Republicans tucked $1 billion in funding for it into an ICE and Border Patrol bill. Trump has said "I'm paying for it," "100% by me and some friends," "no charge to the taxpayer whatsoever," and "zero taxpayer dollars." Now we're paying for it. Sound familiar? Something about Mexico and a wall comes to mind.

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there.

This week on The Necessary Conversation, it's just Chad and Haley — the Lib Sibs holding it down. Mom and Dad are both out this week while Bob deals with some health issues. Love you, Dad. Get better soon. ❤️

⚖️ Trump had James Comey indicted AGAIN — this time over an Instagram photo of seashells spelling "86 47" on a beach. The first indictment was already tossed by a judge. Acting AG Todd Blanche said they won't prosecute everyone who posts "86/47" — just Comey. We ask: is this anything other than political persecution?

📺 Trump and Melania are going after Jimmy Kimmel AGAIN, demanding Disney fire him over a joke calling Melania a "beautiful expectant widow." But this time Disney isn't folding — Kimmel's show aired as normal. We ask whether mainstream media is finally done bending the knee.

🗳️ The Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act in a 6-3 party-line decision, striking down Louisiana's second majority-Black congressional district. Within an hour, Florida's Republican-controlled House passed an aggressively gerrymandered map. Every red state is expected to follow. Blue states say they'll do the same. We ask: is this the end of democracy as we know it?

🎉 We simmer down for a breather by discussing Trump's assassination attemtps.

👑 King Charles addressed a joint session of Congress in what was widely read as a carefully worded rebuke of Trump — championing rule of law, independent judiciary, NATO, and Ukraine. Trump posted a photo of them together captioned "2 Kings." We unpack the audacity.

🎖️ Pete Hegseth testified before Congress for the first time since the Iran war began and it went badly. He called Democrats and some Republicans "the biggest adversary we face," got caught in a major contradiction about Iran's nuclear program, and when Rep. Garamendi told him "You have been lying to the American public from day one," Hegseth responded: "Who are you cheering for?"

🇨🇺 And just when you thought one failing war was enough — Trump said the U.S. would be "taking over" Cuba "almost immediately" and signed an executive order expanding sanctions. We ask: will Republicans finally push back if he starts another war?

Just the Lib Sibs this week but we brought the heat. Mom and Dad will be back soon.

Another Assassination Attempt26 avr. 202601:00:56

This week on The Necessary Conversation, Chad and Haley are joined by Mary Lou but Bob is sitting this one out while he deals with some health issue.

🔫 Last night a gunman opened fire near the security checkpoint of the White House Correspondents' Dinner. The suspect was armed with a shotgun, a handgun, and multiple knives. Trump — attending his first ever Correspondents' Dinner across both presidencies — immediately used the incident to push for his blocked $400 million ballroom project. We ask: was this staged? And why is the guy who constantly attacks the free press showing up to a dinner that celebrates it?

💣 Week 9 of Trump's war with Iran. JD Vance's second round of peace talks was cancelled because Iran refused to show up. The Strait of Hormuz is still blocked. Iran seized two cargo ships. Nearly 3,400 Iranians have been killed including a school full of children, 12 hospitals have been destroyed, and a U.S. soldier says he's lost 17 pounds because troops are still rationing food. We check back in on Mom's prediction that this would be a six-week war.

🎰 A U.S. Army Special Forces soldier was arrested for betting over $33,000 on Polymarket on the timeline of the Maduro kidnapping raid — a mission he was directly involved in — and pocketed nearly $410,000. Trump compared it to Pete Rose and said the world "has become somewhat of a casino."

🎁 We simmer down with Mom opening a mystery box.

😴 Sleepy Don strikes again. Trump fell asleep on camera during a healthcare event — adding to a growing list that now includes seven publicly televised naps since December. We ask Mom why she cared about Biden looking tired but not this.

💀 The DOJ announced it's bringing back firing squads, gas chambers, and streamlined executions. The federal government has never previously used firing squads, and Biden had banned lethal injections. They're also exploring building new execution facilities and restricting clemency petitions.

📉 Trump hit the worst approval ratings of either of his presidencies. Nate Silver's aggregate has him at 39% approval, CNN has his economic approval at a career-low 31%, and two-thirds of Americans say his policies have made things worse. We ask Mom if any of this matters to her.

No Bob this week but Mary Lou is holding it down. This one covers a lot of ground.
