  1. Essential: Communicate with your family.

This week I’m sharing how we were able to decide if and when to commit to a few new activities. We kept in mind that we need time for rest and want to make sure we are all showing up well for the things we put on our calendar.

Ep 133: Morning Meltdown Reset26 Sep 202200:32:33

Inspired by a morning meltdown of our own, I had to share a few suggestions to help reset and start your day off well.

What I’ve learned from countless meltdowns over the years, be it my elementary school students, my kids, or my own occasional outbursts, is that I can usually see it coming based on the environment, lack of planning, noise level of the room, lack of sleep, hormone changes, growth spurts, lack of food or physical activity, amount of screentime, too much or not enough sun, etc. and I need to take responsibility for my part in it.

Some things I’ve learned to get to that reset that might help if you are in this boat: validate the person’s feelings (even if you completely disagree with their thinking), consider their love language so you can truly reach their hearts, & so much more I’m sharing in this episode.

Highlights from this episode:

(06:08) Preparing for the unexpected

(11:07) Turning on the waterworks

(13:33) One of those mornings

(16:34) The difference between acknowledging and enabling

(19:32) Turning to God and praying for help

(23:22) The power of distraction

If your physical clutter is getting into your head, it may be robbing you of joy in your life!

If it’s time for a closet redo, here’s some inspo from my Dad’s with an assist from The Container Store’s Elfa shelving system.

I landed in Tennessee this summer and got the news that Dad’s closet shelves had collapsed! I got straight to work on rescuing it from an overflowing wardrobe, too many shoes, and keepsakes that were stashed deep beneath the crashed hanging rod and wire rack.

Ep 121: Surviving Not Thriving04 Jul 202200:23:29

It’s time to stop judging ourselves and normalize the struggles.

When the world experienced quarantining & social distancing, our mental health became a more acceptable topic to discuss. There were silver linings during that time, but there were also days it may have felt more like surviving not thriving. Now that we are all learning to deal with the aftermath of a global pandemic, it’s even more important to acknowledge the seasons of struggle and find ways to get to the other side of it.

I’ve learned to manage expectations of what a good life looks like. It won’t be perfect. I thank God for the tough times so I can appreciate the good ones even more.

Highlights from this episode:

(00:53) Reflections post-pandemic

(05:00) Let’s have a heart to heart

(08:37) Practicing gratitude

Ep 119: How to Love Organizing20 Jun 202200:24:24

If organizing isn’t your cup of tea or coffee, try these 3 simple steps that may change your mind.

  1. Stay positive.
  2. Keep it simple.
  3. Ask for help.

Okay, I get it. Getting organized may not be something you get super excited about. I do, but that’s because it’s my thing. If it’s not your thing, I understand that it can be something you put off or avoid completely. That’s usually when it starts to get overwhelming, stressful, and even cause anxiety.

I’ve found that doing these 3 things really helps me get going on a project I’m not so thrilled about doing. Hopefully they’ll give you some encouragement when organizing. You never know, you might end up loving it!

Highlights from this episode:

(01:29) Have I mentioned I love organizing?

(03:58) From social studies to soccer - staying positive always works

(12:59) Keep it simple

(15:54) Get results with the 1% rule

(18:31) Success is not a solo mission. Ask for help!

Mentioned on this episode:

Ep 1: The 3 E’s Philosophy

Ep 60: Ask For Help

Ep 98: The 1% Rule

Ep 112: Keep It Simple

I hope this episode sparks a love of organizing, or maybe it just gets you through that stack of mail you need to sort or closet purge you’ve been avoiding. Stick to these 3 steps and lean in and just begin! It’s usually not as bad as you think. You’ve totally got this!

Ep 118: Food Prep for Bible Studies13 Jun 202200:22:21

I’m off to Bible Study and wanted to share how I quickly prep some snacks and treats to go in 3 simple steps!

  1. Use what you already have.
  2. Thoughtfully choose food and drinks.
  3. Consider transporting and serving.

It’s easy to opt out of Bible studies or book club meetups when life gets busy, but I’ve learned that making time for these always ends up being beneficial. It deepens my friendships, encourages me in my faith, helps me lean on friends when I need it most, and gives us that much-needed adult time when conversations with littles leave you feeling a little drained!

Highlights from this episode:

(01:26) We’re in the kitchen today

(04:46) A sucker for a Tootsie Roll

(07:33) Let the ‘who’ and ‘where’ guide your choices

(09:34) Extra Mom points

(13:09) Colorful foods pop more

Mentioned on this episode

Ep 115: Teenage Room Organization23 May 202200:43:20

If it’s time to add some organization to your (almost) teenager’s room, I’ve got some suggestions on this week’s episode!

Of course I’m using the 3 E’s to keep this simple, but I’m also hopping up on my soapbox a couple of times to explain why it’s so important to give your teen a space that reflects their style and needs.

Between hormones, growth spurts, and epic mood swings you might want to close the door to their room and open it right before they head off to college, but resist that urge! We’ve got to give them grace, validate their feelings, and offer them a space for flexibility, control, rest, safety, and hosting their friends

If this is a tall order for you to do with your teen, don’t hesitate to call an expert! They’ll get way more accomplished in a shorter amount of time, and that takes so much pressure off of you.

Highlights from this episode:

(03:19) Taking a teenager’s room from crappy to happy

(06:57) Validate your kids’ needs

(12:25) It’s their space, so hear them out!

(16:03) Avoid the dreaded dead zone

(21:54) Change is hard

(24:24) Floating shelves and other hacks

(29:29) Teens have different needs

Mentioned on this episode:

Ep 1: The 3 E’s Philosophy

Ep 7: The Essential Purge

Ep 6: Maximize Your Vertical Space

Ep 105: The Dead Zone

The Container Store for clear deep sweater boxes, rolling art cart, floating shelves, Poppin brand desktop organizers, Command hooks and wall mounts.

I hope this episode helps you and your teen or tween feel supported in organizing and styling their room so it’s a reflection of them and serves you all in your home.

Ep 114: I Need Motivation16 May 202200:29:25

Here are 3 simple steps that’ll get you motivated today!

Whether it’s a long list of to-do’s, an organization project, or a big lofty goal you want to work toward, it is possible to push past the stress, overwhelm, anxiety, and paralysis by analysis.

Consider these 3 concepts to get the ball rolling.

  1. Start before you’re ready -Marie Forleo
  2. 1% Rule
  3. 3 E’s Philosophy

Don’t forget to give yourself grace if this should actually be a time of rest. Your mental health is just as important as your physical health, so don’t let the guilt creep in if you need to take it slow and ask for help.

Highlights from this episode:

(02:48) I had Covid!

(07:43) Joggers and crop tops

(11:03) Pushing past the overwhelm to stay motivated

(13:26) Start before you’re ready

(17:19) Focus on 1% at a time

(19:41) The 3 E’s Philosophy

(23:31) Get the ball rolling and the rest will follow

Mentioned on this episode:

Ep 1: The 3 E’s Philosophy

Ep 96: Paralysis by Analysis

Ep 98: The 1% Rule

Ep 99: A Game-Changing Shower

Ep 105: The Dead Zone

Ep 113: Life of a Recovering Perfectionist

I hope this episode gives you a boost of motivation to move forward. Keep it simple. You don’t have to move by leaps and bounds. Lean in and just begin. I believe in you!

Ep 113: Life of a Recovering Perfectionist09 May 202200:29:52

This week after the book release, I’m sharing 3 things that help me push past my perfectionist tendencies and focus on the blessings!

  1. Keep those prayer lines open
  2. Surround yourself with supportive people
  3. Keep that sense of humor

Perfectionism is overrated. Don’t miss opportunities because you might be afraid of messing up. Consider those mess ups to be life lessons and keep on learning!

Highlights from this episode:

(02:36) Thank you for making me a bestseller!

(05:26) Friends, tacos… and fevers

(13:55) My name’s Paige, and I’m a recovering perfectionist

(15:57) Perfection is not attainable

(20:07) Don’t call it failure

(23:45) Life lessons make us stronger

Mentioned on this episode:

Ep 111: No Excuses Needed

Ep 112: Keep It Simple

I hope this episode will be a reminder to try new things, not to be worried when things don't go perfectly, and to keep laughing through the tough stuff. There are so many blessings and opportunities that present themselves and sometimes us perfectionists can get stuck in the overwhelm or need to control every outcome. As one who’s in recovery I’d love to encourage you to ride it out and with the help of prayer, leaning on others your trust, and laughing off the unexpected twists and turns, so you can live the life God has planned for you.

You’re not alone, so shoot for the moon!

Ep 112: Keep It Simple02 May 202200:22:54

If I’ve learned nothing else from this crazy, busy mom life, it’s to simplify everything possible!

It’s so easy to feel all kinds of overloaded and overwhelmed when you’re schlepping kids and stuff all over the place, trying to check things off your never-ending to-do list, and managing a little extra time for the things you dream of doing. (Yes, girlfriend, that needs to be a priority.)

But what if it didn’t have to be hard?

That’s what a dear friend suggested to me recently. It changed the way I live my life, honestly. No question there are things in life that are REALLY hard, but what if we could find ways to simplify it and make it a little less stressful?

Highlights from this episode:

(02:02) Simplify your life to see the blessings all around you

(05:31) You never stop learning

(09:44) Share your accomplishments

(13:25) Simplifying stops the overwhelm

(16:28) Get the book now! (see link below)

Mentioned on this episode:

Ep 1: The 3 E’s Philosophy

Ep 96: Paralysis by Analysis

Ep 111: No Excuses Needed

I hope this episode encourages you to take another look at those things that are stressors and rethink the possibility of finding a way to simplify them. It may feel daunting at first, but start with one thing you may be able to take off your plate to alleviate some stress. When in doubt…ask for help.
