Where Is My Money Going in My Business?30 Jul 202600:08:32

You're making more than ever, yet somehow it still feels tight. You're not alone, and there are a few tweaks you can make to get a handle on this.

In this episode, we're tracing exactly where money disappears as a business grows: the subscriptions you forgot about, the contractor costs that crept up, the expenses that started feeling "normal" but really aren't. Plus, how to spot your own money leaks without becoming a CFO or living in a spreadsheet.

If you've ever looked at your revenue and thought "this should feel better than it does," this episode is for you.

Where 6-Figure Business Owners Lose Money Behind the Scenes23 Jul 202600:05:39

You hit six or seven figures and expected to feel the shift. More revenue, more breathing room, right? Wrong. Instead, the money felt like it just... disappeared somewhere between the invoice and your bank account. Sound familiar?

In this episode, we're talking about the invisible revenue leaks draining profit from businesses that should feel more financially solid than they do. From unpaid "invisible work" that quietly eats your margins, to inefficient systems that cost you every single time, to how to restructure without blowing up client relationships — this one is practical and eye-opening.

If your revenue is growing but your bank account doesn't feel like it, start here.

Why You're the Bottleneck in Your Business (And How to Fix It)05 Feb 202600:24:17

Are you dangerously close to becoming the bottleneck in your own business?

Recorded while walking through Zagreb (because I was literally about to become the bottleneck myself), this episode breaks down how to tell if you're holding up your own progress and what to do about it.

What We Cover:

→ The signs you're becoming the bottleneck (hint: it's because you care too much, not too little)

→ The $1 bill vs. $100 bill framework for prioritizing your time

→ Three systems that stop the bottleneck before it starts

→ The responsiveness trap and how it trains you to become the answer person

→ Why meetings beat message marathons

→ Creating decision-making frameworks so your team knows what they own

The Bottom Line:

You're not removing yourself from your business. You're removing yourself from the noise so you can focus on what compounds value.

💬 What's one thing bottlenecked at your desk right now? Drop it in the comments.

Episode 56: How to Create an Irresistible Online Course Offer!30 Sep 202100:46:31

Did you know that the online course market has been exploding over the last few years?

More people than ever are open and eager to invest in learning from the comfort of their own couch — and smart business owners are learning how to create offers that can't be ignored.

My guest for this episode is the incredible Gemma Bonham-Carter, who helps her clients simplify the heck out of growing an online course business and create email and funnel strategies for daaaaays!

Gemma has a ton of experience in creating digital programs, both live launches and evergreen offers — and she's not shy about sharing what works… and what doesn't.

Here's the skinny:

You do NOT need to have your course created to start selling it.

You do NOT need to have mastered the ins and outs of a fancy teaching platform to run your first course.

Your LIVE launches will always have a greater conversion rate than your evergreen offers.

"There's a lot of noise in the online space… you need to craft offers that are truly irresistible and really highly sellable," Gemma says. "There's some things that people need to be doing to make sure that theirs stand out in the marketplace."

If you've been thinking about creating an online course, you will definitely want to hear Gemma share the lessons she's learned (and taught her own clients!) and find out your best next steps!

(Bonus: Gemma shares some mind-blowing examples of ways to make your offer completely irresistible!!)

In my latest podcast episode, you'll discover:

  • The first steps that you should take when you're thinking about creating an online course
  • How to work up to charging high-ticket prices for your offers (get that money!!)
  • What you need to know RIGHT NOW to create an offer that will sell out!

Episode 54: The First 3 Systems You Need to Implement to Scale16 Sep 202100:43:38

How do you set yourself up for growth and success from the very start of your business?

You have to learn to let go of a LOT of things!

(If you've already been in the game for a while, remember — you can have a fresh start any time you want!)

Online Business Manager extraordinaire Sarah Noked helps entrepreneurs and online service professionals plan and implement the systems that help them achieve (and exceed!) their goals.

I LOVE talking to Sarah, because as an OBM, she has some amazing insights into all aspects of growing a business online — from hiring to scaling to creating effective systems.

Our conversation was genuine, real, and we covered it alllll.

One thing Sarah shared that stood out to me is that many of her clients bump up against mindset challenges.

Even if you offer an amazing service and have an engaged audience, your mindset can still hold you back from taking the steps you need to take in order to scale with less stress.

"I find a lot of the time, my clients don't really recognize the importance of having a manager in place to manage whole parts of systems in their business," Sarah says. "I don't know where I would be without my OBM on my team… I find people have a lot of money mindset issues, almost like 'Am I deserving of this team member? Am I deserving to have a successfully scaled business that is supported by the right people in the right seats?'"

My friend, I'm here to tell you right now, you are 100% deserving of that business!

So, let's get you on the road to growth!

In my latest podcast episode, you'll discover:

  • The first things you want to delegate when you're growing and scaling your business
  • How to handle your hiring process in your virtual workspace (and what to do when it isn't a fit)
  • The systems you NEED to put in place prior to scaling — and how to set yourself up for long-term growth

Episode 53: It's here! Our most comprehensive online program ever!09 Sep 202100:28:20

Like a lot of people, I've taken a bit of time this year to really think about my content… and I decided to do a bit of a revamp!

(You know I love to keep things fresh!)

I did some organizing. I did some reworking. I took some pizza breaks. And then I did some finetuning. And at the end of it all, I'm SO thrilled to be able to offer a new experience called The Modern CEO.

This program takes everything you need to know from my past programs and bundles it up into a fabulously comprehensive package covering everything from leadership to client success.

As you can probably guess, my team and I are very happy with it.

But just because an offer is amazing, that doesn't mean that the enrollment process will be smooth sailing!

Among other things, we had to deal with the new iOS changes that have greatly affected the impact of digital advertising.

It took a little bit of fail-proofing, but we made it work! Want to learn how? You're going to have to hit play, my friend!

In my latest podcast episode, you'll discover:

  • The three core books that make up The Modern CEO (and why they offer SO much value)
  • How we dealt with the new iOS changes impacting Facebook advertising
  • The goals we set for 2021 in both of my businesses (and whether we reached them)!

Minisode 10: Are your sales and marketing efforts missing this one thing?14 Jun 202100:02:53

Hey there, if you are selling something or have a change that you wanna create an impact with your community and with your audience, this is the Right On Time Minisode for you.

I learned about this philosophy and this principle back when I was working in organizational change management. This is the idea of what's in it for me?

When we are trying to create change in large groups or in organizations, one of the things we wanna think about is of course what is relevant and why do we want this change for the greater good, but also how does this change benefit individuals?

Hence, the name what's in it for me? We put ourselves in the position of the individual and we think through what is in it for that person. Why is this change that we're creating for the broader community good for the individual as well? The same thing applies when we are creating our sales and our marketing conversations.

We wanna put ourselves in the space of that individual. We wanna think like they're thinking, we wanna step into that person's shoes and we wanna think, what's in it for you? What's in it for me? What's in it for the person that we're speaking to? Because this is what matters.

Yes, we are tied to creating change for the broader community and for the greater good but we wanna tie it back to what is happening for the individual. Because it doesn't mean that the individual is only thinking about what's in it for me and only cares about themselves, though, when we're making rapid decisions every day our brain goes to space where we're thinking, how's this gonna work for me?

What's going to change for me?
Why do I need this?
Why do I want this?

We go through these quick assessments and when you can clearly communicate to someone, yes, what's in it for the greater good, but what's in it for you as an individual as well, we can make decisions much faster. And when we're thinking about why clients buy from you, this is a critical thing to think through.

Let me know if you resonate with this, what's in it for me strategy or what has also sometimes turned as the WIFM, W-I-F-M for a quick abbreviation to throw a little jargon in there. And assess your marketing materials, assess the way you are connecting with your audience.

Are you sharing enough about what is in it for the individual you are speaking to? Or are you thinking too high-level, too big picture?

If not, let's bring it down. Let's bring it back to what is good for the person you are speaking to, how you're serving them, how you're helping them, how you're helping them move past problems faster.

It's you're WIFM.

Episode 52: 6 Things That Modern CEOs Just Do Differently10 Jun 202100:20:44

Do you consider yourself an entrepreneur or a modern CEO?

(No, this isn't a trick question!)

Both entrepreneurs and modern CEOs are running their own businesses. Both entrepreneurs and modern CEOs are in positions of leadership over their teams. But there are a few important differences.

Modern CEOs are embracing a different way of leading and doing business. Some of them, you may already be doing. Some of them… just might take you by surprise!

Modern CEOs aren't tied down to a specific location — they have the freedom to live and work from wherever they want.

Modern CEOs define what it means to win in their business.

Modern CEOs carve out time to see the big picture in their business… and zero in on exactly what they need to build on next in order to move their business forward.

Because, importantly, the modern CEO mindset is focused on growth and opportunity

This means being able to look at a misstep or mistake and see it as a valuable lesson that you can use to drive growth. It means having a definite vision for what you want to create… but being agile enough to adapt to what's going on in the market. It means being savvy about digital marketing so that you're reaching your people where they are… with the messaging they need to hear.  And this means knowing when to pull in the experts, rather than doing All The Things yourself.

And the best part is — no matter what stage you're at in your business, from start-up to scale-up, you can elevate into the role of modern CEO.

In my latest podcast episode, you'll discover:

  • What pancake flipping has to do with being a modern CEO — and what it teaches us about opportunity
  • The trait you need to develop in order to turn that beautiful business vision of yours into reality
  • Why your numbers are SO MUCH MORE than your bank balance — and how they can help you improve your business

Episode 51: The Sad Truth About the 24/7 Hustle Movement03 Jun 202100:19:32

I have some real talk for you right now.

And it may sound far-fetched and you may feel just a little bit of resistance to hearing it, but here it comes: People making 10x more than you… aren't working 10x harder.

I know that goes against the Instagram 'Hustle' mindset you're so used to seeing. It goes against everything your parents said about working as hard as you can. It goes against the societal belief that you have to be actively working and busy all… the… time… in order to be deserving of wealth.

But it's 100% true.

People making 10x more than you aren't working 10x harder. And "busy" is not the badge of honor that everyone thinks it is.

All of the leaders and modern CEOs that I admire have time and space for themselves and the people they care about, because they build that space into their business. Vacations… evenings… maybe even a spa afternoon here or there.

And you can too.

There is a design that goes into leading and growing a business like yours, in a way that allows you to have financial success and time freedom.

Yes, you will still have moments of hustle — launch preparation, seasonal rushes, putting out the occasional fire. But your hustle should never be 24/7, no matter what those slick pink Insta posts tell you!

No-grinding, balance-creating, super-successful modern CEOs just do things differently — and we can learn a lot from their choices.

And guess what: you can learn three of their lessons right here, right now!

In my latest podcast episode, you'll discover:

  • What sets successful, savvy modern CEOs apart from average CEOs

Minisode 9: 5 Things to Do right now to go from scarcity mindset to abundance24 May 202100:07:56

Welcome to this Right On Time Minisode.

For this episode, where we are talking about some practices I am implementing right now around gratitude, and expanding my money mindset. Because, about a month ago, I recognized that I had some scarcity stuff coming up. We're experiencing growth in the business. Things are going well. We're reinvesting in the business, and I identified, still, some scarcity, some lacks, some reactions, when I was like, ooh, are we going to do that? Ah, ah, ah, I'm not sure.

So I picked up a book... Actually, first up, I implemented an approach, where I am writing down my goals for the year, every single day for 30 days, to see what comes up, to step into that, to remind my subconscious, and to reprogram my thoughts around the goals that I'm working towards in case there's any scarcity around that.

And there is, I can confirm. But I'm getting better. It's getting a little bit more comfortable, and I'm seeing the way forward a little bit more clearly every day.

The second thing I am doing every day is I am writing down 10 things I am grateful for and why.

This comes from a practice recommended in the book, "The Magic" by Rhonda Byrne. Actually, my hairstylist recommended it. She had it on her station, at her space, when I was getting my hair cut, and we just had a lovely conversation, and I mentioned something she's like, "Actually, I'm reading about it right now. Check this out."

So I immediately picked up the book. I'm really enjoying the gratitude practices that Rhonda recommends in the book. So I've been writing down, every day, for the last week, 10 things I am grateful for. And not just what I'm grateful for, but also the why. Why am I grateful for it?

I am grateful for great weather because it perks up my energy, I feel better all around, and I can be outside, right? One simple example. It's simple, the weather, great weather. Nothing big is happening there, but you can capture everything on these gratitude lists.

The second thing I am doing every day is I am recognizing, I have this in a place where I can see it and read it frequently, that the gift of health is keeping me alive. And interestingly, I had a little bit of a reaction to this one, like, yes, yes, it's true. The gift of health is keeping me alive, but I have chronic migraines that I'm dealing with. I've got a headache almost every day, not quite every day, and they're going down, they're going down, but it prompts nausea. It prompts all sorts of things for me. So reading this, I'm like, all right, I'm gonna read it because I am indeed grateful for the gift of health that is keeping me alive. And, I will take a little bit more of that. So we're gonna keep it going.

The other thing that I am doing every night, as a part of the recommendations in this book, to expand our capacity for abundance, and to increase our gratitude. And there, of course, all sorts of benefits for our health, for our life that comes with a gratitude practice, is at the end of each day, I'm holding a rock, and I am saying the thing I am most grateful for from the day. The thing that I'm most grateful for from the day, and just saying, thank you, thank you, thank you for whatever that thing may be.

And lastly, the thing that I am doing is, I wrote on a $100 bill, I wrote on and $100 bill, on this sticker. I didn't actually write on the $100 bill, that I am thankful for all of the money I have been given in my life. Not just that I'm receiving right now, but all the money I have ever received. I am thankful for that. And in the book, Rhonda prompts you to think through all the things that you are grateful for, or that you've ever received, right? That you are grateful for, like the shoes that I didn't have to buy when I was a kid, the house that I had over my head when I was a kid, the Mercury Grand Marquis, a very big car that my parents gave me to drive to school and back when I was a kid.

So what are all of those things that you've ever received that have money, that led to you having something, and being taken care of?

And it could be vacations, it could be necessities, it could be anything across the board, but all of the money I've been given in my life, I am thankful for. And I'm looking at that several times a day, 'cause this is just near me, by me, as I sit and work, and while we talk. And Rhonda actually recommended you put this on a $1 bill. That felt pretty comfortable. I didn't have a $1 bill. I happened to only have a 100 in my wallet. I sometimes keep a $100 bill in my wallet. And, so I put it on the hundred, and that made me feel a certain way.

Am I really news? Like, am really gonna leave this out. Should I use this for something? Do I need to use this for something? So, all sorts of questions came up that I just tucked aside, and I'm going with it. So, that is next to me. I wanted to share this with you today in this minisode, in case you have identified that you are coming up against some blocks, some scarcity, some limits, even if they are just in our head, right?

Around the abundance that is coming to you and the growth that you are experiencing, or will be experiencing in your business. Even just writing down my goals every day, which is where this journey started 15 days ago, has been expansive. I'm settling into that. And now I'm layering in these gratitude practices, and I'm finding all sorts of stuff is bubbling up.

So you've got to let me know if you try this, what comes up for you as well? Let me know, because business, growing a business, and growing in our life is strategic, and it is tactical, and there are specific things that we do to grow our businesses.

And, there are all sorts of other stuff that is coming with us as we grow the businesses that we picked up along the way in our life, that we picked up as kids, that we picked up in college, we picked up all of these ideas of what is and what should be. But part of what will happen as we are growing businesses, is we're gonna have to unpack some of that. We're gonna have to identify what doesn't serve us or support us in our growth and on our journey anymore, and we're gonna have to put some new practices in place. So, these are a few new practices to test out.

Check out "The Magic" if you are curious about the rest of the gratitude practices. I'm only a week or so in, and there are 30 days of gratitude practices that build in the book, "The Magic".

So, let me know if any of this resonates for you, or if you grab the book and you decide to go on this journey as well, because, my friend, we are in this together, and I'm so excited for everything you are creating.

You are Right On Time!

Just close your eyes and point to a date on the calendar! Fresh start on a Tuesday? On your birthday? On your dog's birthday? Whatever you choose, you will be right on time.

So now that we've covered the WHEN of your fresh start, let's dig into the WHAT.

Wanting a fresh start doesn't have to mean committing to a drastic new course of action or implementing an entirely new system. You don't need to reinvent your business. You don't need to burn it all down and start over from scratch — and you shouldn't! You've built some great things that you can regularly improve upon!

Step away from the lighter and choose a different path.

I want you to take a step back from your business and look at it honestly.

What is working for you? What isn't working? And why not?

How about this: can you tweak a process and make your business just 5% more efficient this month?

Can you make a critical shift that reduces your feelings of stress or burnout, even just a little?

Is there something in your business that you added years ago… but may be holding you back now?

Your fresh start could be just around the corner!

In my latest podcast episode, you'll discover:

  • The simple tweak that shifted the tide of the hotel industry
  • A case study of how we made a burnout-banishing shift in Three Boudoir, my photography business
  • Your first steps to figuring out your own small but powerful shift!

Episode 49: Stop Chronic Reinvention, Go With Boring Instead13 May 202100:20:29

Are you feeling like you've hit a plateau in your journey to build and scale your business?

Are you wondering what secret sauce you need to discover in order to push through?

Then this is the Right on Time episode for you. (Warning: I just might blow your mind!)

Do you feel like you've already tried all the things without seeing the results you want? Do you feel like you're too busy working in your business to work ON your business?

Believe me, I get it!

The problem actually starts with your best intentions.

We constantly learn about new techniques, approaches, and software that promise to make our businesses leaner, meaner, and more profitable. Yes, it's EXHILARATING to imagine totally revamping our businesses and making them feel shiny and new. It's exciting to come up with a dozen new offers that our clients are sure to fall in love with. And who isn't thrilled by the idea of a total rebrand??

But this constant reinvention is part of the reason why so many Modern CEOs struggle to move forward.

Look — what works for Madonna doesn't necessarily work for everyone!

And chronic reinvention has a lot of hidden downsides that can slow down your growth.

If you want to make the RIGHT changes to your business, you need to step back and understand the bigger picture — that's an important part of your role as a Modern CEO. You need that bigger-picture clarity in order to implement the changes that will TRULY take your business where you want it to go, instead of quick fixes that don't really move the needle.

In my latest podcast episode, you'll discover:

  • The #1 issue that comes up in entrepreneurial communities — and why it's so common
  • 4 major negative side effects of constantly changing your business and their impact on your momentum and revenue
  • Why "boring" should be your goal when it comes to describing the way your business runs (not kidding!)

Why I Built an AI Reality Check for My Business - Extended29 Jan 202600:26:44

What happens when you ask AI to give you brutally honest feedback about how you lead, decide, and show up in your business?

You get a CEO Reality Check that helps you stop spinning, start integrating, and lead with way more clarity.

In this video, I'm walking you through how I built my Reality Check Folder inside ChatGPT (or Claude), which includes:

  • The prompt that gave me feedback was so accurate that I almost dropped my coffee

  • Personality-based data (Human Design, Enneagram, MBTI, astrocartography!)

  • Business strategy and mindset coaching

  • Energy rhythms and lifestyle integration

If you're someone who wants your business to run in alignment with your actual self (instead of duct-taping strategy over burnout), this is for you.

Episode 48: The Myth of the One-Size-Fits-All Golden Ticket29 Apr 202100:27:23

I am a huge fan of businesses (especially small ones!) that seek to do something different... and create something better.

One of the perks of running my online coaching business is that I can do it anywhere — over the past two years I've moved multiple times, including to Ethiopia!

But not every business has been able to handle the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdowns with ease.

Trust me, I know!

Say what you will about the pandemic, but it created a big opportunity (and often necessity) for businesses to really look at their models, processes, and systems... and turn them into something COMPLETELY different.

Over the past year, we've had to make a LOT of changes in the way we run our photography business, Three Boudoir. As you can imagine, boudoir photography during a pandemic looks VERY different, in terms of the process and logistics!

But we made it work.

While we had to completely shut down for four months, we actually GREW the business over the last eight. During our shutdown, we took time to make plans (you know I love planning!) about how we were going to come out of that shutdown stronger and fiercer than ever.

But while many of us have made amazing changes in our businesses, it hasn't been all kittens and roses — many modern CEOs are feeling tired, stuck, and uncertain.

The fact is that there is no one simple solution or change that is GUARANTEED to give your business a pandemic glow-up.

There is no one-size-fits-all Golden Ticket.

But there ARE a few universal truths that, when embraced, can help you figure out the best solutions for growing and scaling YOUR unique, amazing business!

(Yes, even in a pandemic.)

Even if you're just getting started today, you are right on time!

In my latest podcast episode, you'll discover:

  • Why businesses aren't as straightforward as we think — and how each part can impact the others
  • The #1 most effective approach to take when looking at your business — and how it'll help you make the changes that will push your needle the furthest!
  • Why personalization is SUCH a big deal in our current market (Yes! Your business can do it too!)

Episode 47.5: Why Your Sales Stink (And How to Fix It)!20 Apr 202100:41:17

Does it ever seem like you're just shouting into a marketplace full of a zillion people doing exactly what you're doing?

Do you feel like your message is getting lost in all that noise?

Maybe… you need to lower your voice to a whisper.

That's the advice given by my favorite sales guru, Colin Boyd, the creator of the Sell from Stage Academy and the author of the Sell With Story guide.

The trick? You have to whisper the right words into the right ears!

Here's the thing: if you want your webinar (or any lead generation creation) to really resonate with your audience, you need to change what you talk about — and how you talk about it.

"What I realized was my course wasn't the problem. It was how I was talking about my course. No one cares about my course, all they care about is their problems," Colin says. "You shouldn't obsess about your product. You have to obsess about the problem."

Let me repeat that for the people in the back: no one cares about your course.

They only care about their problem.

So, that's the hook you need to use to get them engaged. Figure out the right words, aim them at the right ears, and you'll be practically printing money!

In the latest episode of the Right on Time podcast, Colin spills some pretty mind-blowing secrets about listening to what your audience REALLY wants and how to turn a run-of-the-mill webinar into a sales powerhouse through the magic of infusion selling.

If you just asked "what the heck is infusion selling?!", then you NEED to hit play right now! It's a game-changer!

In my latest podcast episode, you'll discover:

  • The big mistake people make when teaching on free webinars (that winds up costing them conversions)
  • Why you should infuse selling throughout your seminar — instead of tacking on an obvious pitch!
  • How to use 'micro-decisions' to boost your audience's level of commitment!

046: It's Evolution, Baby! How to Adapt to a 2020 World18 Aug 202000:44:31

If you've been following me for a while, you know much I value a great plan!

(That's why I hold a Planathon every year!)

I've always considered intention to be a major aspect of any successful plan.

That's why, each year, I set a new overarching intention for my life and business. I use that intention to guide the steps I take and to shape how I SHOW UP -- in business and life.

And with the change and confusion and overwhelm that has come up for so many of us this past year, I've been thinking about intention-setting more than ever!

That's why I asked my friend Missy Campbell to join me on the latest episode of the Right On Time Podcast.

Let me tell you -- Missy is a MASTER of manifesting and intention-setting.

This woman has made me believe in magic!

Missy incorporates intention-setting into every step of her business, and with great results. Her deliberate and thoughtful approach has left her full of incredible wisdom regarding adaptability, adjustment, and knowing when to take things step-by-step … and when you need to SPRINT!

She's one of the most fascinating people I know, and we had an amazing conversation about intention-setting, resilience, and how to narrow your social focus when it comes to your business (did I mention she's also a social media genius??)

045: Boost Your Webinar Revenues by up to 10x!11 Aug 202000:49:53

Are you a naturally gifted public speaker?

If so, congratulations on your superpower! (And it IS a superpower, believe me!)

Speaking can be nervewracking for many people. (There's a reason why public speaking is rated as the #1 phobia!). But it's also an essential skill for anyone building an online business that includes webinars, masterminds, or video marketing.

And, what's more, you need to master more than just the skill of public speaking.

You need to master speaking to SELL.

(That's a WHOLE OTHER skill set!)

Learning how to speak in order to sell rather than just entertain can help you boost your webinar revenues from $5000 to $25,000... or even more!

Can you imagine how life changing that would be?

Luckily, I have a very good friend who is not only a GENIUS at speaking to sell, but has also developed a course designed to help ANYONE learn how to effectively build an incredible income through webinars and masterminds.

So, of COURSE I invited him onto the podcast!!

This week, I'm joined by the one and only Colin Boyd, the brains (and charm) behind the How to Speak and Sell on Virtual Stages program!

In my latest podcast episode, you'll discover:

  • Why vulnerability affects your performance -- and how to effectively prepare for a presentation!
  • How to craft and deliver a killer signature story that will help you sell!
  • Why even the best 'how-to' approach won't help shift your audience's mindset -- and how to truly get them to commit!

044: Quarantine Slump? Time to Reflect, Renew & Realign!04 Aug 202000:28:48

And we... are… BACK!

It's been a minute since our last episode!

As you know, we are living in some (shall we say?) interesting times. And this has dramatically changed the way that a lot of us show up for our business -- me included!!

Quarantine can be crazy, my friends, especially when I've just moved into my sixth and final house of 2020!

I love adventure, but 2020 isn't exactly what I had in mind. Looking back on the last few months has been a little bit of an eye-opener for me.

I've realized a few things about my productivity. Some of these things are obvious in hindsight, like the importance of having an office to myself (no more working from the kitchen table while the kids run around)!

But I've also been thinking a lot about how crucial the foundational aspects of my business are when it comes to keeping myself moving forward.

That's right -- I'm talking about vision.

Your vision for your business is more than just a nice statement. Your vision should help guide the way that you show up for your clients and team. It should help guide you in deciding your next steps to take, or what you should be focusing on.

Let me put it this way: your vision is kind of a big deal!

In my latest podcast episode, you'll discover:

  • The major question to ask yourself in order to figure out what you want your business to look like going forward
  • How your vision is shaped by not only what you WANT, but what you already HAVE
  • The importance of aligning your vision to what comes naturally and authentically to you

06:42  How are you showing up in this new world, for your team, clients, and business?

08:02  The Three Ds you need to increase your productivity

10:38  Ask yourself: "If I were starting my business from scratch, what would I have done differently?"

12:52 Should you experiment and learn, or build a bridge to fast income?

16:04  The importance of your vision to your planning

18:12  "Keep showing up. Keep taking action. Keep reflecting on where you are and where you are going."

042: How to Thrive Through Your Brand's Growing Pains13 May 202000:21:56

Get excited, my friend -- we have made it to the third installment of our Modern CEO series!

In our previous episode, we talked about how to shift into a Modern CEO growth mindset. In the episode before that, I laid out the four phases of building a business -- and what you should be focusing on in each stage.

(If you haven't listened to those episodes yet, I highly recommend that you do so!)

Now, I want to build on these ideas even further and focus on how to navigate each stage of business growth without falling into the most common pitfalls.

I like to call them the 'red alerts' or danger zones!

These red alerts vary from stage to stage, but they all have something in common: they can lead to overwhelm and self-doubt.

And they can lead to you getting 'stuck'.

As a Modern CEO, you simply don't have time to get derailed from your growth plan! So I'm here to help you identify these red alert moments -- and make your way through them with ease!

Oh, and I also want to share with you my absolute favorite strategy for dealing with an overwhelming inbox (consider it a really helpful bonus)!

In my latest podcast episode, you'll discover:

  • The life-saving D-D-D strategy -- the best way to regain control over an unruly inbox!
  • How to recognize the red alert moments or danger zones in each stage of business growth
  • How to navigate red alerts with confidence and keep on keeping on with your amazing growth trajectory!

041: How to Embrace a Modern CEO Mindset at Each Stage of Growth!07 May 202000:20:53

Running a business is ALL about adaptability.

I don't just mean adapting to unforeseen major global events (hello, 2020!), but also adapting to the different stages of growth that a successful business will inevitably move through.

From start-up … to CEO-up.

In our last episode, I talked about what Modern CEOs should be focusing on throughout the four stages of business growth: Start-Up, Ramp-Up, Scale-Up, and CEO-Up.

Today, I want to talk about the MINDSET that we want to embrace at each of these stages, as we nurture our businesses from one level of growth to the next (and develop our amazing leadership skills)!

Just as we must have different areas of focus for each of these stages, we also need to shift our ways of thinking at each stage.

In this way, a Modern CEO mindset is more like a mind-GROWTH -- you need to be able to let go of past modes of thinking and embrace new ones.

After all, you'll need to embody a different type of energy and be open to a different set of possibilities in the Start-Up stage than in the Scale-Up stage!

And I can't wait to help you make that shift!

In my latest podcast episode, you'll discover:

  • The vital importance of adaptability … especially in these turbulent times
  • Why the term "mindset" should make you think of "mind growth" -- and how to make that shift
  • The four Modern CEO mindsets and how they align with the CEO Must-Do List

08:58 For the Modern CEO, "Mindset" really means mind growth

09:45 The four frameworks of your leadership mind growth

15:33 If you're in the CEO-Up phase -- 'Free Yourself'

18:09 "Are you being accountable to yourself? Are you taking ownership? Are you in the weeds or focused on priority items?"

040: Are You a Start-Up or a Ramp-Up? And Why It Matters!15 Apr 202000:28:39

Part of my reason for rebranding the Modern CEO Podcast as the Right on Time Podcast is the vital importance of 'time' when it comes to running a successful business. I want to be there to offer you the support and guidance your business needs at every step of your business journey.

So, my question to you, my friend … where ARE you on that journey??

Growing a business is a little like raising a child -- as your child grows, they move through different stages of development and you nurture them throughout these stages of growth in different ways.

That is exactly what you should be doing with your business, so it's important to know which stage of growth you're currently in. A business at the start-up level will have very different needs than one at the scale-up level and your priorities as a business owner will look wildly different!

So, let's figure out where you are in your journey -- and what you need to focus on in order to nurture your business to its next amazing growth spurt!

In my latest podcast episode, you'll discover:

  • The Modern CEO Must-Do List -- and how it can help your business thrive!
  • The four levels of business growth and how to identify your current status!
  • Why transitioning into a leadership phase is actually GOOD for your productivity!

038B: Keep Calm & Keep Breathing: Coping With Stress in a Pandemic01 Apr 202000:27:34

Hello, my friend.

Today's podcast episode is going to be a little bit different.

As you may have noticed, we've made the transition from the Modern CEO Podcast to the Right On Time Podcast recently. There were a few reasons for this change, and one of them is that I wanted to start touching on current events -- those topics that are affecting our lives and our businesses.

I think you can guess where I'm going with this.

Today, I want to talk about the biggest thing currently affecting you, me, and countless other people around the world: the COVID-19 epidemic.

But, unlike so many podcasts and websites out there, I don't want to focus on terrifying statistics.

Instead, this podcast episode is going to focus on the things that we can do, together and as individuals, to cope with the stress and overwhelm of living through a global pandemic.

Because it is scary out there!

My very, VERY special guest for this episode is Dr. Julie Merriman, an INCREDIBLE practicing therapist and a wonderful human being. Dr. Merriman has helped countless entrepreneurs (including me!) learn valuable techniques for managing stress.

I don't know where I'd be without her!

In my latest podcast episode, you'll discover:

  • Dr. Merriman's very best advice for coping with the anxieties of the COVID-19 pandemic
  • How to stay connected and supported while social distancing
  • The importance of appreciating the positives while stressing about the negatives
  • The most crucial first step for finding the perfect therapist -- and how to execute it effectively

I hope that the advice given in this episode helps you as much as it has helped me. Remember: we are all in this together. Please stay well and healthy.

034: Give your Hiring Process a Makeover & Get the Talent you Need!05 Sep 201900:38:00

If you've been a part of our world for a while, you know that I used to have a VERY different lifestyle.

That's right - I lived the CORPORATE life.

I did the whole nine yards: 14 hour days, locked up in an office, travel, feeling WAY too much stress about everything that came across my desk. So much stress, I thought I was having stress related chest pains. (Turns out it was just a garlic allergy).

For a brief time during my corporate life, I worked in recruiting. Why brief? Because recruiting is an ONEROUS process! It takes a lot of connection and interaction with a LOT of people in order to track down just the right candidate.

You know me, I love connecting with people! But I'm not gonna lie, that was next level!

Even though I didn't enjoy the recruiting process back then, I still need to hire for my business -- and so do my clients.

So, I've revamped my hiring process to make it easier and more enjoyable to hire the right candidate, for the right job … right on time. Now, recruiting is a process that is filled with complete joy for me and my clients.

And I want to share it with YOU.

In my latest podcast episode, you'll discover:

  • How to actually be READY to hire when you're ready to hire (hint: it takes more planning than you think!)
  • Why you should take a marketing approach to your recruitment ads -- and how it'll help you get higher quality candidates!
  • How to put together an attractive benefit and compensation package -- no matter your budget!

Listen below!

Remember to subscribe on iTunes, Google Play and Stitcher!

Highlights:

03:20  Recruitment is an onerous process

04:10  "It's not technology, it's not lead pages, it's not a Facebook post that is going to make or break your company -- it is a team of incredible people that brings strategy to life"

05:11  I'm currently using this hiring process in BOTH of my businesses!

05:56  "Great talent does not wait around. Great talent has options"

06:13  Start building relationships as far out from your hiring needs as you can

07:30  Where do you look to find your clone? How do you find great talent?

09:26  How to work effectively with interns and turn them into superstars

12:00  From Monster to Indeed: the ins and outs of listing

13:20  Why you should look at your job postings as advertisements

14:20  Hiring through your network -- the beauty of referrals!

15:34  Look for the win/win -- find a candidate whose work style and skill set align with your needs (and vice versa!)

16:41  Be prepared for the 'benefits & compensation' conversation (and learn how to love up your team!)

29:01  "Be really mindful about your budget and about being fair to the work that is done and the person that is in that role. When we invest in each other, we 100% grow together"

Are you ready for the next step in our How to Clone Yourself series? Because I am SO excited to help you build on the skills revealed in the first five episodes of this series!

You're going to want to take some notes, because this episode digs even deeper into one of my all-time favorite topics: systems.

Systems are what allow me to run my multi-city boudoir photography business in America from my new home in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Systems are what let me run my worldwide consulting business while still enjoying a ton of awesome quality time with my husband and my girls.

If they can do all of that for ME, then just imagine what they can do for YOU!

There are a lot of misconceptions out there about systems … what they can do, what they SHOULD do, and who should be kept in mind when they are designed. I'm here to help you ditch those preconceived notions and implement radically effective systems that will not only boost your productivity and lessen your stress, but also increase your profits!

In my latest podcast episode, you'll discover:

  • Why systems are a front-office activity, not just a back-office one
  • How to approach your business and personal systems with a customer-centric mindset -- and why that is SO important

030: How Do You Turn Chaos into Order in Your Business?01 Aug 201900:18:21

Even more than hiring, even more than outsourcing, what is the most vital thing that you can do to simplify your day-to-day workload and streamline your business processes?

Design and implement intuitive systems.

Systems are an underpraised cornerstone of successful businesses, but you observe them in action each and every day.

Every time you visit a Starbucks, your barista takes a series of steps to make sure that the right drink gets to the right person at the right time.

Every time you make a reservation at a restaurant, the staff use a system to make sure that the right number of seats are saved for the right person at the right time.

Every time you order a product online … every time you make an appointment for a haircut …

It's systems all the way!

Are you ready to create your own killer systems and enjoy incredible levels of efficiency?

In my latest podcast episode, you'll discover:

  • How well-planned systems DRASTICALLY improve the way that your business runs

026: How to Get More Done in Less Time, Effortlessly!20 Jun 201900:23:57

What far could you take your business if you had an army of clones?

This isn't a sci-fi hypothetical question -- this is a very real way to grow your business. And I want to teach you how. No creepy laboratory required!

My idea of cloning myself can be traced back, years ago, to a time when I was in the middle of a very challenging situation. I was in college when I had my firstborn, and ended up bringing her to my classes. I had a full course load and a newborn baby.

People thought I was crazy!

But I managed … even thrived!

And in doing so, I learned some valuable lessons about how to prioritize all of the different aspects of my life, how to set up time-saving systems … and how to ask for help.

Women, especially, struggle with asking for help. You know that ideal of the 'superwoman'? Able to juggle home, work, and self-care effortlessly (while looking amazing all the while)?

Yeah … in reality, that superwoman is getting support from all sides. And that's a GOOD thing!

Asking for help is NOT giving up. Asking for help is NOT failure.

Asking for help is a great way to boost your productivity, strengthen your business, and make fabulous connections. What's important is WHO you ask -- and what you ask them to do.

In my latest podcast episode, you'll discover:

  • How to get more done … in MUCH less time!
  • Why you should sidestep the micromanagement trap -- and what you'll gain from letting go!
  • How to focus on the things that DESERVE your energy -- and how to figure out what they are!

025: Want to Make Better Choices for Life and Business? Give your Decision-making Process a Makeover and Reap the Benefits!13 Jun 201900:38:00

You make countless decisions every day.

Whether you should have a cup of coffee in the morning. How you should decide on setting your pricing. Whether to bundle your services or not. Whether to outsource. Whose family to visit for Thanksgiving. Whether to take up yoga or pilates. Whether to have a kid … or another one. Whether to reach for a smoothie or that giant chocolate chip cookie. We spend SO MUCH of our time making decisions both big and small! With all of that pressure, it is super easy to fall victim to a dreaded condition -- decision-making fatigue!

When you're dealing with decision-making fatigue, the smallest decisions can seem impossible -- even choosing what to make for dinner can bring you to a standstill. Believe me, I've been there!

023: Life Begins When You Start Letting Go!07 Mar 201900:22:03

Are you sabotaging your chances of success without even realizing it?

This week's episode is all about learning to let go of your attachment mindset.

You may have an attachment mindset if you find yourself latching onto situations, ideas, or outcomes SO TIGHTLY that you close yourself off to all other possibilities.

Maybe it's the idea of a new job, a process you want to implement in your business, or a house that you're looking to buy. We all tend to set our hearts on specific outcomes--it's totally human.

Here's the thing, though:

If you're locked onto one specific idea or outcome to the point where you won't even CONSIDER alternatives, you could easily be robbing yourself of some of your most amazing or unexpected opportunities...and shutting down the possibility of real growth or expansion.

Don't worry, my friend. You CAN shift your attachment mindset and learn how to surrender to all of the amazing potential that life has to offer! (And it isn't even that hard!)

In my latest podcast episode, I share:

  • How your inner voice of envy can stop you from fully experiencing everything that is MEANT to happen in your own life
  • How attachment can close off the possibility for new and amazing things to grow
  • Why it's impossible to control the outcome of your intentions -- and how that isn't necessarily a bad thing!

Listen below and get ready to let go!

02:53  Be open to being *present*, not just ambitious!

03:44  Shift into a place of surrender & quiet that inner envy

13:47  Attachment vs. Detachment

14:50  What does it mean to be attached?

19:00  "Ask yourself: is this an attached way of thinking or am I surrendering?"

Move over, smoking, gambling, and over-eating ice cream -- procrastination may be the most common vice in the world!

There are a lot of reasons why people procrastinate: fear, laziness, anxiety, complacency, insecurity … the list goes on.

Not only is procrastination something that I hear about from a LOT of my clients, but it's something that I used to be guilty of myself!

That's right, my friend. This productivity champion used to do almost EVERYTHING at the very last minute. And I'm telling you, it was stressful! Because procrastinating on my deliverables is not in alignment with who I am as a person.

My procrastination meant that I was bringing my C-game, not my A-game.

When I had that realization, it threw me for a loop. I knew that I had to make a BIG change! That's what my latest podcast is all about -- how to take your C-game tactics and make the kind of change that leads to A-game results!
