202. Get Squirrely (2015)28 Aug 202400:29:01

Frankie the squirrel stars in this 2015 animated comedy titled "Get Squirrely" - which may just be the most difficult film title in history to say in an Australian accent.

Frankie the squirrel sets off on a mission to take back a bunch of stolen acorns. In order to do this, he must compile a team of friends to help him. It's kind of like "Oceans 11" except instead of A-list Hollywood actors, it's a bunch of woodland creatures.

John Leguizamo voices multiple characters in this movie, which was a lovely surprise.

How much is too much when it comes to customer service? Should the purchases we make be up for discussion with the people who scan our items? Or should they simply BACK OFF AND MAYBE MIND THEIR OWN BUSINESS?! Let's discuss.

121. Mini Episode - Will 2023 Give Us A Leguilution?11 Jan 202300:20:46
We go through John Leguizamo's upcoming projects for 2023 (found on IMDB) and make massive assumptions as to what these projects will be about. We also sweat lots inside our unbearably humid studio.

120. Mini Episode - Leguizamo's 2022 Recap04 Jan 202300:25:22

119. Animals., Season 3, Episode 2 (2018) with Gen Fricker28 Dec 202201:03:04

When you record a podcast episode in Sydney, you simply must invite comedian Gen Fricker along for the ride, mate!

"Animals." is an American animated television series. Each episode tell the story of a different group of animals and features heavily improvised scenes built around that narrative. The episode we watched is titled "Dogs" and tells there story of a bunch of pooches that live in a world with no humans.

John Leguizamo plays Fluffy, a dog who once had a famous owner.

118. Nothing Like The Holidays (2008) REVISITED with Dougie Baldwin21 Dec 202201:30:24

This week, we are joined by the outrageously talented actor/comedian Dougie Baldwin - it's a Christmas miracle!

"Nothing Like The Holidays" is a 2008 Christmas movie that we've already watched, but we're still keen to chat about it. It's a film about a Puerto Rican /American family that are coming together to celebrate Christmas. Like most families, some crappy things are happening within their unit. Stuff like infidelity, differences in opinion and the war.

It's got heaps of great actors in it. It's perfectly cast and we're genuinely happy to watch this film every year during the festive season, ho ho ho.

John Leguizamo plays the same guy he played the last time we watched this film.

117. Violent Night (2022) with Alice Tovey14 Dec 202201:05:49

If you're going to have a chat about a gruesome, violent, hectic, hilarious anti-Christmas Christmas film, you better be doing it with award winning comedian/writer/director, Alice Tovey!

"Violent Night" is a 2022 American Christmas/action/comedy film about Santa Clause fighting mercenaries who have taken a wealthy family hostage in their home.

The film tells the story of a bad Santa type, played by "Stranger Things" daddy, who is later revealed to be the real Santa... but a kind of bad Santa... sort of... as he only does the bad stuff to bad people, which kind of makes him a good Santa.

John Leguizamo plays the most bad person in the whole film. He is the main bad guy. What a joy. The Leguilution is truly upon us.

116. The Menu (2022) with Alexei Toliopoulos07 Dec 202201:21:52

If you're going to review a film, you might as well do it with comedian/writer/film critic/absolute legend, Alexei Toliopoulos!

The film "The Menu" was released worldwide in November 2022, which is the same month that this episode was recorded - a first for Leguizamarama!

"The Menu" is a dark comedy/thriller. It is the story of a world renowned chef who owns and operates a small, exclusive and expensive restaurant on an isolated island with no reception.

On this particular evening, a small group of privileged members of society arrive on the island by boat to take part in an exciting, bougie and pleasant evening of food and theatrics. Theatrical, yes. Pleasant, not so much!

John Leguizamo plays an ageing actor, desperate to hold onto his fame and notoriety. It's so fun to watch.

115. Night Owl (1993)03 Dec 202200:52:25

"Night Owl" is a 1993 vampire film shot in New York City. It tells the story of Jake, a brooding vampire/squatter who picks up women from nightclubs and while having sex with them, he drinks their blood and kills them. It's super arty and lo-fi.

John Leguizamo plays a dude whose sister is killed by a vampire, so he is in search for the creature who messed with his family.

114. The Adventures of Puss In Boots, Season 1, Episode 9 (2015) with Bec Petraitis23 Nov 202201:16:06

It's time to talk about Puss again! Except this time, we've dragged comedian/writer/producer Bec Petraitis into the studio to chat with us!

Jack Spratt is back, baby! And all of Puss' friends are mad about it. Why? Because he's a thieving smarty pants that always encourages Puss to do naughty things.

In the 9th episode of the 1st season of "The Adventures of Puss in Boots", Jack Spratt steals some fancy magic boots. This sets off a series of unfortunate events, all of which need to be established, executed and dealt with within a 17 minute period.

John Leguizamo voices Jack Spratt. Again.

113. Crónicas (2004)17 Nov 202201:10:11

Crónicas is a 2004 Ecuadorian thriller/drama. The film tells the story of Manolo Bonilla - an unscrupulous journalist from Miami who is in Ecuador to report on the impact of a serial killer known as The Monster of Babahoyo. Lots happens. Lots of stuff about challenging ethical journalism. Lots of stuff about murder. It's dark. We honestly can't say much without spoiling the film.

John Leguizamo plays Manolo, the journalist. He speaks in Spanish for about 95% of the film which is equal parts impressive and hot.

112. Summer of Sam (1999) with Jude Perl 10 Nov 202201:28:30

True Leguizamo fan and genius funny person, Jude Perl, joins us this week to chat about "Summer of Sam" - Jude's favourite Legz movie!

"Summer of Sam" is a 1999 drama/thriller directed by Spike Lee. The film is set in New York in 1977 - right in the middle of a sexual revolution. New York is haunted by a deranged serial killer that is infamously known as Son Of Sam. Vinny (play by John Leguizamo) is an Italian/American hairdresser that has the misfortune of seeing some of the serial killer's victims after narrowly escaping the killer himself. Vinny and his mates (along with the entire neighbourhood) become deeply invested in finding Son Of Sam... but also manage to find plenty of time to do lots of drugs and have lots of sex with various female character actors from the 90s.

111. Sexaholix... A Love Story (2002) with Frankie McNair02 Nov 202200:57:00

This week, we are joined by the absolutely fabulous award winning comedy superstar, Frankie McNair! What a treat!

The three of us had a bloody ball chatting about John Leguizamo's Tony Award nominated one-man stage show, "Sexaholix... A Love Story". This HBO special aired in 2002 and is 90 minutes of Leguizamo's iconic storytelling. Lots of fun and evocative stories about love, sex and becoming a father, all whilst wearing low-rise jeans and a couple of short tank tops.

110. Late Night Sketchbook With John Leguizamo (2021)27 Oct 202201:04:56

Back in 2021, John Leguizamo was interviewed on the Stephen Colbert late show titled "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert". We reckon about 10-20 minutes after the interview, a producer approached him and said "hey, mate. Do you have a spare 10-20 minutes to film a fun little something for our YouTube channel?" John agreed.

In this YouTube video titled "Late Night Sketchbook with John Leguizamo", Jonny Legz draws a bunch of pictures of various superheroes and asks the audience to guess who they are.

He's not great at drawing, but we're still massive fans.

109. Zig Zag (2002)20 Oct 202200:52:42

"Zig Zag" is a very depressing 2002 American Indie comedy/drama film.

An autistic 15 year old boy steals money from his boss to provide rent for his abusive father, Blade, who uses the money to repay a loan shark, the bad guy from "Blade 2". This movie also stars Natasha Lyonne who ages at half the rate of a normal person, and Oliver Platt who plays Yosemite Sam.

John Leguizamo plays the role of Dean Singer, a friend and 'big brother' to Zig Zag who helps him to return the money to his boss and shows him porn.

108. Vacation The Movie - Flatbush Zombies (2018)13 Oct 202200:46:48

"Vacation" is a short film created, produced and staring "Flatbush Zombies", an American rap/hip-hop group from Brooklyn, New York.

The short film opens with the three Flatbush Zombies members having a chat over sandwiches in a diner. They chat about how they can make their upcoming music the best music they have ever created. Throughout their conversation we see flashes of music videos (presumably to help promote their upcoming songs) that feature glittery bottoms and nature in winter. As they discuss how they are going to make amazing music, they are joined by Lin Manuel Miranda, Ice-T and our mate John Leguizamo. They relentlessly encourage the members of the rap trio to stay authentic, whilst also kind of teasing them in a fun little way.

John Leguizamo plays himself... but, like, the coolest version ever.

107. Critical Thinking (2020) with Alex Hines 06 Oct 202201:23:34

We had the best time chatting with one of Australia's most exciting comedians, Alex Hines! Alex is a hoot. We made her watch a movie about chess.

"Critical Thinking" is a biographical drama film loosely based on the US National Chess Champions from Miami Jackson High School - the first inner city team to win the championship.

Not only does this film star our mate John Leguizamo, but he also directed it! Excuse me!? What a legend!

This film was supposed to premiere at South By Southwest Film Festival in March 2020, but because someone ate a bat, the films release was pushed back to September 2020.

106. The Making of the Super Mario Bros movie - German DVD version (1997) 28 Sep 202200:36:08

And then we did some screenings of it at Lido Cinemas in Hawthorn, Melbourne? Yeah? Well, now we're chatting about the "Making of" which can be found on the German DVD, released in 1997.

Fun fact - 1997 is the same year "Spice World - The Movie" was released! On October 14th 2022, we're hosting this movie at Lido Cinemas. Come along!

In this episode of Jon Favreau's "The Mandalorian", Robocop and fake Mandalorian join forces with Baby Yoda and a variety of fun space characters to battle a large sand shark.

John Leguizamo plays Gor Koresh - a one-eyed gambler and gangster with lots of information in his large, green head. He attends a large pig wrestling match with Robocop and Baby Yoda.

103. The Alibi (2006) with Sam Petersen08 Sep 202201:05:06

We love Sam Petersen! We particularly like inviting him onto our podcast and making him watch confusing cinema from the mid noughties.

"The Alibi" is a 2006 American comedy. It stars Steve Coogan as a dude that owns a company that does alibis for people who like to cheat on their partners. Mostly men if we are being honest, but the film is quick to remind the audience that women also cheat and lie to their spouses too.

Johnny Legz stars as Taylor, the vengeful boyfriend of a woman who is accidentally killed by her lover during a hot night of sex and deception set up by Steve Coogan.

102. Experimenter (2015)02 Sep 202200:46:02

"Experimenter" is a 2015 biographical drama that tells the story of the controversial 'Stanley Milgram Experiments' that took place in the 1960s. Peter Sarsgaard stars as Stanley Milgram. This movie is the most Peter Sarsgaard-y film to ever be made. Peter Sarsgaard is also the brother-in-law of Jake Gyllenhaal, the apparent subject of Taylor Swift's "All Too Well" which has recently been released as a 10 minute song.

John Leguizamo plays Taylor in "Experimenter". Taylor is one of Milgram's test subjects. Taylor is also the first name of famous singer/songwriter Taylor Swift.

196. The Green Veil (2024)17 Jul 202400:37:39

Can you believe how RELEVANT we are this week?! We're talking about "The Green Veil" - a drama series from 2024 (THAT'S THIS YEAR!).

It tells the story of the Rogers family - a seemingly perfect American family in the 1950s, harbouring some dark secrets. As first nation's teenagers go missing across the country, reports suggest it could be aliens... but we learn the truth.

John Leguizamo plays Gordon - the husband in this family whose obsession with maintaining the image of the American Dream becomes compulsive, obsessive and dark! Full villain era!

100. Celebrating 100 Episodes! (part 1)17 Aug 202200:55:58

100 EPISODES, BABY! We did it! We some how managed to record 100 podcast episodes about one-pot pasta, Star Trek and occasionally the world's greatest character actor, John Leguizamo.

We take a little trip down memory lane in this episode. It's kind of an award ceremony. It's kind of a recaps episode. It's definitely unhinged.

Thanks for joining us over the last 100 eps! We appreciate it so much. Heres to another 5000 episodes (because John Leguizamo literally never stops making stuff).

99. ER-arama Wrap Up!10 Aug 202200:45:57

It's been a big three and a half months for us over here at the Leguizamarama headquarters. Three and a half months of doctors, nurses, surprise pregnancies, monkey babies, Shane West wanting to be in a boy band, naked Shakespeare, Christmas parties held in basements, Sara Gilbert, witty one-liners, fights that never get resolved, medical professionals having sex with each other, memory loss, alcohol addiction, pissing on a taxi and Johnny Legz in crisp scrubs.

This week, we talk about "ER-arama" and say goodbye to the medical drama that stole our hearts.

98. ER, Season 12, Episode 21 (2006)03 Aug 202200:44:56

And Just Like That, we are given the gift of Season 12, Episode 21 of "ER" - the final episode of "ER" to feature John Leguizamo.

Together, we have watched the wobbliest character arch to ever be put on our TV screen as we follow Victor Clemente's journey through the Emergency Room of Chicago's County General Hospital.

Throughout this episode, we see Clemente slowly lose his mind. He has dark circles under his eyes, he hasn't slept in weeks, he gives bad advice on how to treat the patients, he pisses on a taxi and he has a number of hallucinations.

In the end, he is put in a wheelchair and wheeled to a psych ward by Practical Magic as Sara Gilbert looks on in disbelief, taking the Best-Character-Actor-On-ER reigns from Johnny Legz for season 13 of the infamous medical drama.

97. ER, Season 12, Episode 19 (2006)21 Jul 202200:47:31

"No Place To Hide" is episode 19 of season 12 of "ER."

It's an episode in two parts. Part one is like a normal episode of "ER". Liar Liar does an 'I Am Sam' plot but with dementia. The weird, funny dude is grumpy to the sexy, mean surgeon and then the sexy, mean surgeon kisses him because that's how lust works. Clemente is slowly losing his mind because Bobby is sending him threatening letters with dead fish in the envelope. For some reason, Clemente won't alert the authorities or tell anyone about his problems. Sara Gilbert is there too.

Part two is some full of Darfur stuff.

96. ER, Season 12, Episode 17 (2006)17 Jul 202200:48:22

"Lost In America" is the title of the 17th episode of the 12th season of the same medical drama we have been watching the last few months.

Clemente has passed his drug test and is back working as a doctor at the ER. Hooray! He has shaved his face and put on a white lab coat and is no longer snorting drugs off of his naked girlfriend. He is, however, totally homeless. He is secretly sleeping at the hospital.

Practical Magic wants to baptise his child. Bend It Like Beckham gets offered some sort of nerdy job with a bunch of nerdy people. A Walk To Remember has a fight with Clemente because he deeply disapproves of Clemente taking advantage of his legal right to take annual leave.

95. ER, Season 12, Episode 15 (2006)10 Jul 202200:37:04

Episode 15 of ER's 12th season tackles some full on shit.

Clemente wants to come back to work at the ER and is shocked that his colleagues aren't too keen for that. This seems really unfair, even if he did disappear for over a week and came back wanted for the attempted murder of his married girlfriend. 8 Mile and Bend It Like Beckham clash about some stuff but it doesn't involve John Leguizamo so we don't care too much.

94. ER, Season 12, Episode 14 (2006)03 Jul 202200:46:57

Victor Clemente is back, baby! And it's incredibly full on.

ER, Season 12, Episode 14 is titled "Quintessence of Dust" which really doesn't explain the episode at all. Clemente has returned to our screen, but even though he used to be a quick-talking, rule-following, stern surgeon in crisp scrubs, he is now a messy junkie without a shirt.

Bobby (Clemente's lover's husband) sneaks into their apartment and shoots them both. Clemente rushes his lover to the ER and everyone he used to work with instantly assumes that he shot her. The only person that can vouch for Clemente is his lover, Jody, and she's totally in a coma.

92. ER, Season 12, Episode 11 (2005)08 Jun 202201:16:38

Episode 11 of season 12 of the smash-hit medical drama ER is titled "If Not Now."

It's two weeks post-Christmas. Liar Liar is pregnant with Practical Magic's baby and we learn that neither of them are 100% sure whether they want to abort or follow through with the pregnancy. This internal battle is presented to the audience through a series of flashback scenes that doesn't seem to suit the vibe of ER at all. We also learn that Practical Magic is a Christian with an excellent knowledge of bible verses.

The chief of medicine slips on some ice and needs to be treated by Beckham.

We learn that Walk To Remember has a dream of making it in the music biz with "his boys" that make up some sort of punk/pop band. It's his BIG DREAM despite us never having heard about it and despite having most likely committed over 10 years of his life to becoming a doctor.

Anyway, shit is GOING DOWN for our mate Clemente. He continues to flirt and argue with sexy lover that is married to a cop. While treating a stab victim in the ER, two cops dressed ike mob bosses confront him and threaten to destroy his career if he doesn't tell them where sexy lover is.

91. ER, Season 12, Episode 10 (2005)01 Jun 202200:47:44

"All About Christmas Eve" is the 10th episode of Season 12 of the medical drama "ER."

Practical Magic is now the chief of emergency medicine. To celebrate, he hands out Christmas presents to the staff at the hospital while wearing a silly little Christmas hat. He then, in the Christmas spirit, gives a bunch of people the night off which leads to a severe risk of death for many of the patients.

The main plot is another shooting. It's very dark and sad, but gives a realistic depiction of how doctors deal with death. It also gives an unrealistic depiction of how many people are allowed into the operating room during surgical procedures. A married woman that Clamente hooked up with in his past rocks up and things get very spicy.

MERRY CHRISTMAS, LEGZ FANS!

90. ER, Season 12, Episode 9 (2005)25 May 202200:43:53

ER, Season 12, Episode 9 is titled 'I Do.'

Bend It Like Beckham's army boyfriend is back! And he spends the majority of the episode pressuring Beckham into marriage, even though Beckham says 'no' at least 100 times. He follows her around the hospital and wears her down until she finally agrees and they get married in the basement of the hospital once it has been decorated like a shit nightclub.

Clemente and Practical Magic stop bickering and make peace (sort of) in what is a very unclear storyline.

There is a lot of full on commentary about vaccines and immunisation when a mother brings her very sick child into the hospital but won't let him take medication, be x-rayed or be tested for any kind of virus. This pisses Johnny Legz off and he goes on a very unprofessional rant about how crap she is.

Liar Liar and Practical Magic continue to have sex. Practical Magic continues to do absolutely no work, spending the entire episode flirting with Liar Liar.

89. ER, Season 12, Episode 8 (2005)18 May 202200:52:03

Today Mish and Zach chat about 'ER', season 12, episode 8. In this episode, a plane crashes right in the middle of Chicago. The episode cuts between the ER and the crash site.

Velma is the most senior nurse in this episode. Bend It Like Beckham does a ride along with Jesse from 'Full House' in his ambulance for some unknown reason.

Liar Liar and Practical Magic come into the ER after a night of sex, despite the face that neither of them are rostered on. Legz is trying to set up triage out the front despite the fact that Practical Magic is making it really difficult. 3rd Rock From The Sun is proud of Velma for making good decisions.

At the crash site, 8 Mile and Bend It Like Beckham help out. Beckham runs into a burning building to save a kid even though there are heaps of firefighters around.

Serena Williams is in this episode. No jokes. She plays a distraught mother.

88. ER, Season 12, Episode 7 (2005)12 May 202201:01:45

'ER' episode 7, season 12 titled "The human Shield" opens with a man holding a young girl in his arms as he shoots wildly at policemen who (in return) shoot wildly at him. The man and the young girl get shot in the shower of bullets and the paramedics are called. Uncle Jesse from Full House enters dressed as a paramedic.

Our favourite doctor Victor Clemente (Johnny Legz) asserts his power in the hospital by holding stern meetings with all of the staff. He loves a stern meeting. He fucks up a little bit and doesn't give a patient enough fluids. this patient dies. This pisses off Practical Magic because he knew that the patient needed more fluids.

Practical Magic gets over this fairly quickly because Liar Liar has a breakdown and he makes kisses with her.

Shane West is in a lot of trouble because the father of a Kat Dennings finds out he had sex with his daughter and bashes him in a carpark.

TW: This episode of 'ER' tackles some seriously heavy stuff including kidnapping, pedophilia and sexual abuse.

87. ER, Season 12, Episode 6 (2005)04 May 202200:37:29

"Dream House" is the sixth episode of the twelfth season of "ER".

Dr Clemente reveals himself to be a bit more open to breaking the rules. He secretly smuggles a baby monkey into the hospital because they have similar DNA to humans.

Meanwhile, the lady from "3rd Rock From The Sun" gives Velma from "Scooby Doo" a promotion. Her first task in her new position is to fire someone. The girl from "Bend It Like Beckham" finds out that the girl from "2Broke Girls" who has been sleeping with the guy from "A Walk To Remember" is actually only 14 years old which is really messed up, but it's played for laughs which is strange. Lastly, the guy from "8 Mile" tries to connect with his estranged father who is played by the guy from "Rush Hour".

84. Playing with Fire (2019)10 Mar 202200:49:36

"Playing with Fire" is a 2019 family comedy directed by Andy Fickman of "Mall Cop 2" fame.

It follows the story of John Cena and his arm veins as they fight fire and work their way into our horny little hearts. Jake Carson (Cena) is the superintendent of a group of Smoke Jumpers in California. 83. Ice Age: Continental Drift (2012) with Ben Russell02 Mar 202201:26:18

What do you think about when you think about the "Ice Age" franchise? We think about comedian extraordinaire Ben Russell!

"Ice Age: Continental Drift" is the fourth film in the Ice Age series. Released in 2012 (10 years after the first movie) this film continues the crazy adventures of the ever growing ensemble cast as they go on a wacky adventure that is loosely based on plate tectonics. When Scrat (that way too famous squirrel dude) goes to the centre of the earth to retrieve a yummy acorn, he accidentally sets in motion the continental drift mentioned in the title. Our loveable ensemble gets separated and will stop at nothing to find each other again. They even commandeer an iceberg that is also pirate ship run by a gorilla.

John Leguizamo is Sid. Again. Wow.

81. Righteous Kill (2008)16 Feb 202200:52:08

"Righteous Kill" is a 2008 thriller directed by John Avnet who also directed "Fried Green Tomatoes", a severely underrated Kathy Bates movies.

"Righteous Kill" is a movie about righteous kills. Turk and Rooser (Pacino and De Niro) are two cops on the hunt for a serial killer who leaves little notes around their victims. The killer is a little bit too close to home though.... ooo aaahhh...

John Leguizamo plays Simon Perez, a detective who suspects Dr Niro is involved in the murders. This leads to much butch push-and-shove.
