In the 1980s, Popular Mechanics featured an intriguing cover story that detailed encounters with a colossal black flying wing in California’s desert skies. In 2017, Luis Elizondo, a former U.S. Army Counterintelligence Special Agent and former employee of the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence, revealed that he had been involved with the U.S. Department of Defense's investigations into unidentified aerial phenomena. In January 2023, a U.S. military pilot reported an encounter with a group of unusual objects flying in a diamond formation over the Gulf of Mexico near Eglin Air Force Base. The incident, which eventually came to the attention of Florida Representative Matt Gaetz, became a matter of public record after Gaetz discussed it during a Congressional hearing in the summer of 2023. 

Now, the DoD's All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office has released its official report on the incident, claiming the case has now been resolved. On March 8, 2024, the Pentagon's All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) released its historical report on UAP, shortly after briefing only a select group of journalists associated with seven mainstream media outlets, none of whom seemingly bothered to fact-check the error-ridden report. "The disappointing lack of critical press coverage of this important report prompted me to begin compiling the insights of UAP scholars and experts who have studied the history of UAP and the US government," wrote former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Intelligence Christopher Mellon, in a recent lengthy rebuttal in response to the report's release.

In the Autumn of 1957, a series of events unfolded that, for a time, left U.S. defense officials believing that the country was on the verge of war with the Soviet Union, as a pair of mysterious objects were tracked on radar systems making their way toward a series of high security facilities. Before action could be taken, the objects mysteriously vanished, and the story receded into the shadows of Cold War memories for decades, prior to a series of once-secret CIA files surfaced detailing the startling incident.

What do such circumstances say about the U.S. military's capabilities in terms of unidentified aerial phenomena? According to the findings of the DoD's All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), the object that crash-landed near Roswell, New Mexico in the summer of 1947 was a balloon used during a once-secret covert operation called Project Mogul. These findings, of course, are the same conclusions the U.S. Air Force came to decades ago which were detailed in a pair of official reports that sought to definitively explain what, for many, had once been deemed Ufology's "smoking gun"... but could there still be more to the story?

In the 1970s, the existence of a once-secret program called "Project Moon Dust" first came to the attention of UFO researchers employing the Freedom of Information Act to obtain U.S. government documents about unidentified aerial phenomena. Although the U.S. Air Force initially denied its existence, it was later confirmed that Project Moon Dust, along with the similar Project Blue Fly, had been tasked with the acquisition of any fallen space objects believed to have originated within the Soviet Union... but is that all the program collected?

On November 17-18, 2023, a symposium of academics, current and former government officials, and other leading voices in the study of unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) convened for the inaugural Sol Foundation Initiative for UAP Research and Policy event in Palo Alto, California.

The event’s stated objectives were to “propose tangible government policies, programs of research, and investment strategies that can meet the challenge of the phenomena,” along with elevating the dialogue and generating new approaches toward resolving it. For centuries, reports of strange lights moving through the skies have been reported around the world. Beginning in the late 1940s, popular reports of sightings involving mysterious aerial lights and other phenomena have formed the basis of the modern UFO phenomenon. But could some of these aerial apparitions have a natural explanation?

After the surrender of Japan that marked the end of the Second World War, American forces began to unravel clues to the existence of a disturbing secret program involving biological experiments carried out on human test subjects during the height of the conflict. Known as "Unit 731", the program has never been officially acknowledged, and although its existence is well established, the American government's secretive dealings with Japanese scientists led to an eastern counterpart to the controversial "Operation Paperclip" that ensued with Nazi scientists after the war.

Recently, several lawmakers on Capitol Hill received a classified briefing from the Intelligence Community Inspector General on allegations that first surfaced last year regarding an alleged UAP program that has been illegally withheld from Congress.

The National Defense Authorization Act has been signed into law by the President of the United States, but not without a few concerns, according to an official White House statement citing one of the massive bill's UAP provisions. This, following a showdown in Washington over a landmark bipartisan transparency provision put forward by Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer that saw significant pushback from Congressional leadership that illustrated just how far we may have to go in the fight for government transparency on UAP.

In 1938, an infamous broadcast based on H.G. Wells’ classic War of the Worlds allegedly incited confusion and panic as listeners questioned whether a real alien invasion might be underway. Earlier this year, a 64-page proposal to bring about the disclosure of information on what the U.S. government calls unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) was introduced by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Senator Mike Rounds (R-SD). However, in a potential blow to UAP disclosure efforts, recent pushback from House leadership appeared to be set to severely limit the bill, if not stop it altogether.

Recent revelations by government whistleblowers are raising questions about whether the United States and other nations could have information about the existence of non-human intelligence, or NHI, which has been suppressed for decades. A classified report detailing the Pentagon’s latest findings in its ongoing investigations into unidentified anomalous phenomena, or UAP, has been delivered to Congress, according to a statement issued by the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) last week.
