"New" Defender used market, upgraded 110 vs. Grenadier and Land Rover pizzas21 Oct 202601:03:14

The boys debate whether Defender L663s are becoming affordable on the used market, and how Grenadiers fit into the current 4x4 landscape. Are you better off building a "classic" Defender 110 with all the bells and whistles, or buying an Ineos? What do you think?

Elsewhere, a listener shares their Land Rover story culminating in a successful Land Rover catering business, and the boys answer the question – what is the best do-it-all Land Rover for 15 grand?

As always, we love to get your questions and feedback. Be sure to drop us an email on editorial@lrm.co,uk – enjoy the episode!

In this week's very special episode, long-term LRM contributor Jack Dobson is over from Australia and joins Steve and Martin for a chat about the similarities and differences between Land Rover scenes in the UK and Australia.

Jack talks us through his fleet of Series Land Rovers – the majority of which are V8-powered – and tells the tale of how his beloved Series IIA got stolen and reacquainted with him two whole years after it went missing.

There's also chat about his mission to restore an 80-inch Series I, including the judgement from some of the more niche chapters of the Land Rover world, and how his choice of paint colour was a not-so-subtle jibe at these attitudes.

The gang get distracted by a 130 with a cage on the back, and Jack discloses some of his favourite and most-hated mods for a Series Land Rover.

As always, we love to get your questions and feedback, so don't be shy – drop us an email on editorial@lrm.co.uk and let your voice be heard.

Winding down from an extremely busy show season, the boys discuss their next big project – a series of buying guides on all the very coolest Land Rover models which will be going live on the LRM YouTube channel over the coming 12 months.

Martin debates which Land Rover model is the ideal family car ahead of his upcoming new arrival – Defender, Discovery, Range Rover – or is a Freelander enough?

50+ years of engine conversions: an hour with Motor & Diesel Engineering03 Jun 202600:57:47

From the very early days of Perkins diesel converting classic Range Rovers to developing the latest complete drop-in conversion kits for all manner of Land Rover including fitting ULEZ-compliant petrol engines into Defenders.

Ben mentions his early Land Rover One Ten County Station Wagon, which may well be giving its 2.25 petrol four-cylinder for rather more modern power, while the mods will remain fully reversible.

The 300Tdi gets some serious upgrades at Motor and Diesel, with one of their most popular conversions being a conversion to 2.8 litres – more power and torque especially when combined with one of M&D's variable nozzle turbochargers.

Ben is also quick to sing the praises of his Discovery 4 – on 170,000 miles on its original engine and driven hard every day, despite needing yet another park brake module...

Drew also imparts his knowledge on his acoustic matting systems, and how the idea of fitting heavy matting to utility Land Rovers makes a big difference to noise levels inside the cab.

There's a journey through Drew's Land Rover history, including a Range Rover P38 fire, and a rusty Range Rover L322 which he's considering reviving.
