On this episode - A couple of weeks ago we had the pleasure of the company of the very wonderful and talented Serena Cherry, who discusses her fabulous and not-so-fabulous escapades when out on the road with her band Svalbard. Please note - later on in the podcast Serena touches on her appalling experiences of up-skirting, so if you feel this subject may be sensitive - please feel free to skip onwards. | The Long Drive Home - Richard Jupp (ex-Elbow/educator) | 29 Dec 2020 | 01:20:22
We're absolutely delighted to have Richard Jupp, former drummer from Elbow (yes, ELBOW) on the podcast to talk us through the lows and indeed HIGHS of being in Elbow. We gave Richard rare permission to also discuss some of his favourite parts of touring and some other wild activities of the A-list life. A lovely episode that we all thoroughly enjoyed. Richard is a wonderful chap. Enjoy x Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
| The Long Drive Home - John Helps (Maybeshewill) | 15 Nov 2020 | 01:40:51 | |
Episode 10! How did we get here? Who knows... John Helps of the excellent Maybeshewill gives us the lowdown on his touring escapades both as a musician and as a tour manager for other artists. This one is particularly explosive and wide reaching and covers some extremely dark content, so, be warned. There are also some very powerful swears. Tuck in. Hosted on Acast. | The Long Drive Home - James Findlay (Hell is for Heroes) | 08 Nov 2020 | 00:55:31
HI. We were delighted to invite Fin (James Findlay), bassist from Hell is for Heroes, onto the show to talk us through the lowest ebbs of touring in the height of the UK Post-Hardcore boom of the early to mid 00s. Recorded back in ages ago (again), this one covers a lot of ground and the final tale is really quite something. Touring IS fun, promise, but the bad stuff is pretty damn interesting to talk about. ENJOY. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
| The Long Drive Home - Andrew Falkous | 21 Oct 2020 | 01:09:51 | |
HELLO. After an extremely long break, we've finally got a new episode for you. This was recorded WAYYYY back in April, peak lockdown and for various tedious reasons, it's not been available till now, HOWEVER we are delighted to have the ultra brilliant Andrew Falkous off of Future of The Left and Mclusky join us to reveal his worst gigs for us and it was a very fun chat indeed. Due to how long it's taken to get this up, there's a couple of chats relevant to when we recorded it that probably don't make any sense now but whatever, it's still funny. ENJOY. Hosted on Acast. This week we're joined by Djamila Azzouz, the brilliant vocalist of off ITHACA who guides us through the back catalogue of shitemares her and her valiant band mates have been through. | The Long Drive Home - Ben Murray | 08 Apr 2020 | 01:14:04
This week we're joined by Ben Murray, our good friend and front of house engineering extraordinaire to talk over some of his less enthralling experiences as a professional sound engineer. Many beans are spilt and subsequently stood on. Ben is a brilliant engineer based in Liverpool and he's a director at Total Control Sound, a PA hire company he's built up with his brother John. Ben also occasionally gets the dubious honour of running front of house for us (when we can afford him) at our live shows. We cover everything from broken PAs, boxes full of dead animals and also read out and respond to some of your tweets. This is also the first one we've attempted from isolation during the great Coronavirus Lockdown of 2020, thanks to the magic of Zoom. ENJOY. Hosted on Acast. | The Long Drive Home - Real Terms | 09 Mar 2020 | 01:26:30
This week we've got the VERY wonderful Real Terms on the podcast. They talk us through some of their less than enjoyable performing adventures involving phone chargers, sickness and jugglers among other things. We also cover a very trying moment at ArcTanGent 2017 involving keys, a van and some incredibly uncontrolled drinking. Some demons were excised. Their brand new and super brilliant EP Housework is out now on Vested Interest Records. It's a long one so ENJOY. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

In this episode, we discuss the antics of other bands in the gigging arena and discuss some of the listeners similar experiences. | The Long Drive Home - Alpha Male Tea Party | 20 Dec 2019 | 00:36:14
Our first ever episode! We thought we'd start gently by interviewing ourselves. Perhaps we come across as entitled ingrates? You can decide. We cover a selection of some of our worst gigging experiences to date, from Battle of the Bands contests to playing in hole in the ground. This was recorded on the UK General Election night so there's some brief mention of politics which I'm sure everyone will love. If you like it, maybe we'll do more. Who knows. Hosted on Acast.
