Barry Jamieson was co-owner of Fluid Recordings UK Limited, and one-half of Evolution, Bluefish, Arrakis, JB, and Escape.
He started his musical career way back in 1986, when (with fellow musical partner John Sutton), Evolution was first formed. Their first single “Came out of Nowhere” was released on their early record label Positive Vinyl. They called on the services of a young DJ, who was starting to make a name for himself, to remix the track. His name was Sasha, and it was his first-ever venture into the recording world. As you might have guessed, it was the start of a great friendship.
As one-half Evolution, he had built up quite a reputation, over the years. With hit singles such as “Love is Calling”, “Phoenix”, and the massive, “Walking on Fire” of 2003. Barry (and his past production partner John Sutton) had also been responsible for some great remixes over the past 10 years. These would include, BT “Quark” & “Dreaming”, Bedrock “Heaven Scent”, Breeder “Tyrantanic” to name but a few.
Barry has been making electronic music for over 2 decades. He has been on the cutting edge of the music scene, producing and collaborating with the biggest names in the electronic music scene. He has been producing music alongside Sasha and Spooky's Charlie May and Duncan Forbes. Responsible for the hugely successful Involver series from Sasha, as well as countless remixes for The Doves, Damion Lazarus, Ladytron, M83, and Thom Yorke to name a few.
Barry dons many hats as a DJ, producer, engineer, and composer. He has worked with some of the best in the electronic music scene. Part one of our chat was all about our favourite football team Liverpool FC and how we hope this season will be one of the best.

The award-winning Plastic Fantastic record shop ran from 1994 – 2006 and was famous for supplying the top DJs in the world. The label released many progressive and deep house classics that were hugely successful at the time, many of which still sound great today. With the progressive scene having a resurgence, it felt like the right time to start the label back up, cherry-picking the best tunes from across the label and its imprints, with fresh remixes and new material: dark pumping progressive, and uplifting melodic house with the occasional splattering of breaks and slower chug remixes. We already have lots of exciting releases planned with big artists lined up to remix some of their favourites so big things coming!
I chatted with Enzo about how he got started in dance music and running the legendary Plastic Fantastic record shop and label. Now producing tracks under his Cortona moniker he has already had an e.p out on John Digweeds Bedrock label https://bedrockrecords.bandcamp.com/album/xtaci-ep https://www.beatport.com/artist/cortona/1257031 https://plasticfantasticrecords1994.bandcamp.com https://www.beatport.com/label/plastic-fantastic-records/124957

TREVOR FUNG began his DJing career at 16 and was quickly earning a reputation for his taste and knowledge of both UK and American Soul Funk and Jazz. In 1983 through his European tastes and connections, Trevor was invited to play at Amnesia in Ibiza to spin his now mixed style of dance music. On Trevor’s return and throughout the mid-eighties he teamed up with long-time friend Paul Oakenfold to set up a club called "The Funhouse" playing similar sounds from his Ibiza experience alongside the popular Hip Hop and Go-Go sounds of that time. This was followed by the formation of his infamous “The Project" club and was now joined by also resident DJ Carl Cox. The Project Club was strongly influenced by BALEARIC BEATS and also by the new sounds coming in from Detroit and Chicago. HOUSE MUSIC!!
He has also been very active and constant in raising awareness & money for charities An Ambassador of: Last Night A DJ Saved My Life Make a positive impact We are a charitable foundation that creates fundraising initiatives to support grassroots projects that make a difference in the lives of children and young people in the UK and Developing Countries through the power of music and art. https://www.lastnightadjsavedmylife.org
