When we embark on a quest for Truth, we have to eliminate all of our dark side, fears, anxieties, laziness, and our attitude of procrastination and face life in its Reality. Life will create situations in which we will have to face all of this whether we want it or not. If we win over, well and good, we become real trustworthy human beings. If we don't, we will always stay the same limited weak and uncoherent person. In this episode, we talk about how Master Sirio had to face incredible difficulties while creating the Sant Bani Ashram in Tuscany, Italy, in the wilderness of Maremma and how Sant Ji came to give a program here in May 1980. Sirio Ji tells us about the tremendous difficulties, tests and trials and how he eventually was able to make the place ready to welcome such a great personality as Sant Ajaib Singh and a crowd of 120 people who came to attend the program from all over Italy, France, England, Malta etc. He tells us how the program was a great success and an incredible spiritual charge despite the numerous difficulties occurring during the program, such as rain and so on. In the end, we can also get a glimpse into the great change in the life of Sirio Ji, and how a new chapter opened up in his life after the program.

What is death? What happens to us when we leave our body in a definite way? What happens next? Why is it important to be connected to a realised living master during our life? How does this spiritual connection with a master help at the time of our death? Why do we need a guide in the spiritual planes? What does the mahasamadhi of a master mean? What kind of an effect has the passing away of a master for his devoted disciples? "Death is not what it seems to be, and what it is taken for in common parlance. Death and life are correlative terms on the earth-plane only, but in reality there is no difference between the two, and in fact one cannot be contradistinguished from the other; for death cannot swallow life nor can death put an end to life. It is just an interchangeable process as two sides of a coin rotating on its axis. Do we not see day and night, light and darkness, alternately coming and going, as the rotating earth spins and revolves round the sun casting shadows of varying lengths at different places while the sun itself continues to shine all the time. Death does not mean total extinction or annihilation as, at times, it is believed to be. It is nothing but a change of consciousness from one place of existence to an other place of existence. Life, on the contrary, is one continuous process which knows no end for the so-called death that follows life is not life lessness but life in another form at another place, here on earth or else where and in a different form, with a different name, and under different set of circumstances as is adjudged by Divine Dispensation working on the inexorable law of action ‘as ye sow, so shall ye reap.’ Life being a positive expression of the Supreme Being, is not subject to the negativity of death, and the latter cannot, therefore, extinguish the former – the eternal flame of life. ... Maulana Rumi therefore says: "If you intend going on a pilgrimage (into the beyond) then take thou a pilgrim for thy companion, It matters not whether the said pilgrim is a Hindu, a Turk or an Arab; but see that He is a real pilgrim." A living Master is such a pilgrim." Excerpt from the book 'The Mystery of Death' by Sant Kirpal Singh. Surat vs. Kundalini | A method for all & A method for few | S4E01 | The Light of Sirio - spiritual podcast

In this conversation with a realised master, Master Sirio Ji, we are trying to find the place of Surat Shabd Yoga on the big map of Yoga. To better understand the method and approach, we begin this attempt by comparing Surat Shabd Yoga and another yoga direction, well-known and spread in the West, Kundalini Yoga. That's why the title is 'Surat' (in sanskrit 'Attention') vs. 'Kundalini' (in sanskrit 'coiled snake'). During the conversation it unfolds through the wise words of Master Sirio, why Surat Shabd Yoga in India is also called Sahaj Yoga, or in English 'Easy Yoga'. It can be easily practised by anyone, physical condition and age don't matter. This is a method for all. On the other hand, real kundalini yogis need a fit and fine physical body, special concentration and complete detachment from the world to tame the awakening dormant energy or 'coiled snake' in their body. So this method is for a few, as not everyone can perform it. In Surat Shabd Yoga the spiritual enlightenment of Divine Perception comes from high, directly from the region of Sach Kand in its pure form as Inner Light and Sound, also called Sounding Light. In Kundalini Yoga this state of spiritual enlightenment must be provoked through several exercises, to 'wake up' the 'dormant snake', the embodied innate Consciousness and bring it up from the ground level to the top, so from the root chakra ('Muladhara') to the third-eye ('Ajna chakra') and the crown chakra ('Sahasrara') in the energetic body. As the most basic and simplified result of this comparison, we might conclude by saying, that in Surat Shabd Yoga we need to keep the focus naturally at the third eye centre, and the energy comes from up spontaneously. In Kundalini Yoga it comes from down and one has to wake and work the energy up in the body from chakra to chakra by several means and handle it properly to raise. Were you aware that while most of the young people in other countries were busy with the hippy movement, or maybe with travelling to India, seeking spiritual liberation and a guru, others, maybe not even so far away, could not even have a passport and were closed up in the obligatory, official ideology of socialism? Have you ever asked yourself how it might have been for others to live under total control, to be told what and how to think about religions, within the frames of an ideology that was aiming to unbuild all spiritual, replacing it with "scientific materialism", in circumstances where you were not allowed to think or express yourself freely? The ideology consumed itself from within because, despite the repression and oppression exercised by the powers over people, they could never suffocate the innate, insuppressible need for Divine Perception and Spiritual Connection. Once the ideology fell, socialism also couldn't stay up, so because of the unified will of all, the Iron Curtain crumbled down and people were finally free: free to think, free to talk, free to act, free to experience and free to travel. This is where our story brings us, in the early '90s when people - who had been deprived for nearly 50 years of their innate spiritual needs - suddenly found themselves in a new situation and could experience once again spiritual freedom. Indian gurus and spiritual teachers came to bring the promise of Spiritual Liberation and Enlightenment to the people. There was a great market, people were hungry for Spirituality. This is how eventually Valeria joined the Sangat of Sant Ajaib Singh Ji and received the Holy Initiation into the tradition of Sant Mat / Surat Shabd Yoga or as it's also called Nada Yoga. This is how Valeria, setting on a great adventure, for the first time in her life travelled abroad to the "West" in 1994, to participate in a spiritual retreat with Sant Ajaib Singh (Sant Ji). You can get a glimpse into her life - narrated by host Dori - how persistent she was, even being a young mother of three, to finally take the chance to sit at the holy feet of the one through whom she experienced the Divine Perception.

We can listen to the story of Loretta, a psychologist doctor from Rome how she met a realized, true spiritual master, Sant Ajaib Singh. We can also come to know how things went wrong for her and some of her friends after the initial blessings. Their life turned into a real nightmare for them. This small group of 5 enthusiastic yoga practitioners were young people, yearning to realize Truth and to go deeper into spirituality in the late '70s and early '80s. Anyhow, after being initiated by Sant Ji, they kept their close association with their previous yoga teacher, an initiate of Master Kirpal, whom they had trusted as he was the one to tell them about the path, inspired them to become vegetarian and took them to Sant Ji as well. Unfortunately, things by and by changed shape in an unnoticeable way and eventually this yoga teacher turned out to pretend that he was an advanced spiritual being, like a teacher of life for these young people. Slowly he led them into a deep confusion so much that they left Sant Mat and their real master, Sant Ji as well and followed him. Loretta describes it in a very heart-touching way - narrated by host Dori, since she felt it still too painful to talk about it in person - how it was difficult to break this snare of clouded consciousness to get out of this confused state and eventually find back to Ajaib, the Ocean of Grace. This is the Full Circle, meeting Sant Ji the first and last time he came to Italy, and finding the Inner Peace through the keywords given by Master Sirio to Loretta: Acceptance - Gratitude - Forgiveness. In the end, making this account brought a surprising relief into the life of Loretta unexpectedly and miraculously, that you can hear at the end. This shows us how eventually things are always perfect and fall back to their place, according to a Divine Plan and that on the Spiritual Journey, we are not the doers, but everything is done by Him.

This episode is different than the others, as in this episode I talk to Norman Sharp, born in 1926 who has been a passionate seeker of Truth since his youth, which led him to the Holy Initiation in 1964 on the spiritual path, called Surat Shabd Yoga, Nada Yoga or Sant Mat, by the hand of Sant Kirpal Singh. After Sant Kirpal Singh went into Mahasamadhi, Norman associated with Sant Ajaib Singh (Sant Ji). Nothing else shows better his passion for spirituality and devotion to his Masters that at the age of nearly 98, he took the trip from England to Italy, to participate in the celebration of his Master's birth anniversary. On this occasion, I asked him to talk about the beautiful spiritual love story he had with Sant Ji. The result of this conversation is this impressive episode that talks about unconditional, infinite, divine love in its purest form. Remembrance of God, devotion, perseverance on the path and great wisdom that is the fruit of 98 years on this earth and decades of daily spiritual practice. We can witness with Norman the amazing effect of the spiritual path and the practice, and how the Inner Journey transforms us humans into divine beings. Even if Master Sirio this time doesn't talk to us in this podcast episode, still we can receive great spiritual teachings through the life story of a true seeker of Truth.

What does the word karma mean? What is the law of action and reaction? What is the wheel of life or the wheel of transmigration? How many forms of life exist in this world? Doesn't this create bad karma because of the God in them? Originally, the word karma stood for and represented sacrificial rites and rituals, and Yajnas performed by individuals as prescribed by the sacred texts. Later on, however, it came to include all kinds of virtues, social and self-purifying, like truthfulness, purity, abstinence, continence, ahimsa, universal love, selfless services and all deeds of a charitable and philanthropic nature. In short, great stress was laid on the cultivation of Atamgunas which tended to discipline the mind and divert the mental powers in the right direction, so as to serve the higher purpose of liberating atman or the spirit in bondage." To know is one thing, to do is quite another. It is only after he has explained to the aspirant the end to be attained that the Master's real task begins. It is not enough that the doctor diagnoses the cause of the blind man's ailment, he must perform the operation as well. So too the spiritual guide at the time of initiation gives the disciple a first-hand experience of the Inner Light and Sound.
