[22:15] Tim's Third Proudest Moment: Personal Growth Through a DIY Project
[28:30] Overcoming Perfectionism and the Value of Authentic Leadership
5 Powerful Quotes [3:03] “I realized that [to] be more open about one's failures, or the challenges that have happened over your career or over your life, rather than being something that you need to hide and push down… if you have the confidence and courage, and it does take some to be a bit more open about is something that actually can connect you to people and takes a lot of anxiety away from you as well.
[7:21] “…there was a really fine line between being so overly open, that you actually discredit yourself and being vulnerable enough and human enough or grounded enough to make people feel relatable to you. And that you also are not perfect, and you've [never had been] perfect to get that position.”
[9:59] “I do think that you only really learn with it when things are bad. No, of course, you do some learning and some developing when things are all right, and things are going okay. But it's tiny in comparison to when things are tough… or things are going wrong or something's failed, that is where the real development happens.”
[28:43] “...perfectionism gets in the way of a lot of things…I think it is to some extent, a strength because you meet people who've got high standards. They put lots of pressure on themselves. They want to deliver things and that's great, but when it tips over, and often it does, I think it really is an inhibitor.”
[31:45] “There are some technical roles where actually it's all about IQ…you have to have enough IQ to be competent. Beyond that, more and more and more IQ does not equal more and more and more performance. Yeah. But EQ is what it's about.” About the Guest Tim Davies, a healthcare leader with over 20 years of experience, stands at the forefront of modern leadership. He brings a unique blend of emotional intelligence and innovative thinking to complex, regulated environments. As CEO of ivolve Group, Tim has redefined leadership within the care sector. | #89 Fly on the Wall Coaching Session with Rob | 08 Aug 2022 | 00:55:10 | |
In this special podcast episode, you will be a fly on the wall in Angela’s coaching room.
Angela is working with Rob, an entrepreneur and co-founder.
Rob explained how he often feels under threat in situations that involve conflict, and this causes him to shut down. He finds it difficult to speak up and this results in a feeling of weakness.
We use a recent event during which Rob felt he couldn’t speak up as our gateway memory. I asked Rob replay the event and observe himself in the memory. He recalled the feelings and was able to pinpoint how these showed up in his body. Using this visceral feeling we tracked back through other memories until we found a much earlier one which formed the basis for the beliefs he formed about speaking up.
It’s a fascinating episode which allows you to hear the impact that events in the past can have on the here and now.

| #69 - The Bungee Cord of Traumatic Events | 24 May 2021 | 00:20:04 | |
Cut the Bungee Cord of Traumatic Events with Behaviour Change Techniques Have you ever felt stuck in an endless cycle of toxic behaviour? Even though you recognise the patterns and try to move forward, you just can't seem to change how you act. This happens because we fail to utilise effective behaviour change techniques. Without them, it’s akin to wearing a bungee cord around your waist — even as you take steps forward, you eventually get pulled back to your old ways. In this episode, I share my thoughts on the two things that frustrate me about how accredited bodies teach coaching and how to disrupt them. I talk about the role of non-directive and directive styles in the whole spectrum of coaching. Likewise, I highlight behaviour change techniques and the importance of getting to the root cause of behavioural patterns to change them. If you want to learn behaviour change techniques and cut your bungee cord, tune in to this week's episode! Here are three reasons why you should listen to the full episode:

Episode Highlights [02:11] The Woes of Non-Directive Coaching
[4:21] Therapy and Directive Coaching Style
[5:14] Patterns of Behaviour

[11:02] A Look into the Neuroscience Perspective
[13:15] The Importance of Behaviour Change Techniques
[15:46] Unlocking Your Behavioural Patterns
[16:40] The Executive Coaching Arena
5 Powerful Quotes from This Episode [03:46] ‘Assuming that all of the C-suite leaders have all of the answers inside of them really, I suppose, stops them from seeing a broader picture stops them from seeing diversity and different perspectives.’ [05:30] ‘No amount of coaching about the way that you want to change those behaviours will change the behaviour until you have tackled the root cause.’ [14:33] ‘If you're trying to pour positivity on something that is toxic, that is residing inside of you, then the positivity is going to be diluted very quickly. You have to get to the root causes of your patterns.’ [17:22] ‘An executive coach for me is there to co-create value. The executive coach needs to have as much credence in the situation as the client does, and bring their expertise to really unlock these root causes.’ [17:49] “Simply talking about changing habits and changing behaviours is not enough. We have to work with the subconscious.’ Enjoy this Podcast? We all have toxic cycles of behaviour that we want to break. We hope you learned a thing or two from Angela's advice on behaviour change techniques. [16:55] ‘So, just tune into yourself over the next few days. And notice how often you judge other people because you will then be looking for that threat from other people judging you’. [20:55] ‘And the more that you can move towards accepting that rejection is a normal experience within life, the easier it will be for you to process, the threat of judgments when it strikes’. Before Metro, Prerna worked at Capital One where she delivered numerous transformational projects and traversed various countries (US, Canada and UK). It was at Capital One that she pioneered the UK business risk office’s implementation of LEAN culture across organisation-wide processes. It was also during her time at Capital One that Prerna set up the Digital Operations function in Toronto and led the Canadian Customer Acquisition Operations team through significant growth and expansion. Prior to an internationally diverse experience at Capital One, Prerna spent five years in Leveraged Finance at Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (Toronto) and three years as a software developer at Texas Instruments (Bangalore). Prerna laid the foundation for her career at BITS, Pilani (India) where she received her BEng (Hons.) in Computer Science, followed by an MBA (Finance) at Smith School of Business (Queen’s University), Canada. While not working, you can spot her enthusiasm for new adventures as she hikes through unexplored parts of the world with her cherished camera in hand and her dogs, Picasso and Dali, in tow. About this show Prerna talks about her schooling in India and how she came first in the state for her 12th year (equivalent to A-levels) in over 3 million students! It was the first time for someone in her school and it was the point in her life where she realised she could achieve something big and significant. She talks about her 40th birthday bucket list and how 2020 has put a pause in her plans. She says it is important to have a bucket list, not because it motivates you to achieve certain things but it also teaches you how to deal with disappointment if you do not achieve it. Prerna talks about how it is never easy to put yourself out of your comfort zone. When she started her own business she worried whether people would want to listen to what she had to say and offer. She says lockdown has given us all the time to focus on our inner thoughts that we don't usually get the time for. Time to reflect on your own life and your own choices. Her motto is we should all take a leap of faith, what's the worst that can happen. An uplifting and inspiring half hour.
