| The Jacob Crouch Farm Murders | 22 Mar 2018 | 00:47:53 | |
There was a storm brewing outside with high winds, heavy rain and thunder as the clock crept just past midnight on November 22, 1883. Nestled in Spring Arbour Township, Michigan state, there was a modest but respectable farmhouse a few miles from the city with no doors lock.
That night four people were murdered on the farm of Jacob Crouch: Jacob, his daughter Eunice (and her unborn child), her husband Henry White and a friend, Moses Polley. Ever since then, Eunice's spirit rises from her grave in St. John's Cemetery every November 22 and meets up with Jacob in the wee dark hours at his gravesite in Reynolds Cemetery, Spring Arbor Township.
Join the Haunted True Crime Podcast as they travel back to Michigan in 1883 to share the story of the Jacob Crouch farm murders, and the hauntings that allegedly remain today.

| The Villisca Axe Murders | 15 Mar 2018 | 01:08:42 | |
On June 10, 1912, eight people were found dead in the Moore’s home in Villisca, Iowa. The murders spawned nearly ten years of investigations, repeated grand jury hearings, a spectacular slander suit, murder trials, and numerous minor litigations.
Law enforcement agencies from neighbouring counties and states joined forces, and bloodhounds were brought in to track down the killer. The crime made and broke political careers, pitted neighbours against neighbours, friends against friends and family against family.
Accusations, rumours and suspicion ran rampant among the community and townspeople began to distinguish and identify themselves by who they believed committed the crime. Even on the first day after the crime was discovered, there was a large number of suspects and murder confessions came in from those who were not even suspected. So who committed the Villisca Axe Murders on June 10, 1912?
Join The Lady Dicks as they travel back to Iowa in 1912 to visit the story of the Villisca Axe Murders, and the house that remains haunted because of them.

| Battleship North Carolina, Wilmington, NC | 25 Jun 2021 | 00:30:24 | |
The Battleship North Carolina was a major player in the Pacific War theatre during WWII. Even though the death toll during her active years was quite low, ghosts are said to be quite active aboard the ship. So active that paranormal investigators, including TAPS, have been investigating it for years. This naval relic is allegedly one of the most haunted places in North Carolina, and the best part about it? You can find out for yourself. | The Greenbrier Ghost | 08 Feb 2018 | 00:44:54
The Lady Dicks are tackling the story of the Greenbrier Ghost, the ghost who kinda, sorta, maybe testified against her own murderer, and it’s going to be a wild ride.
On January 23, 1897, a neighbourhood boy dropping by to handle some chores for the newly-married Zona Heaster and Edward Shue, discovered the body of Zona lying lifeless on the floor at the bottom of the stairs. He described her as being stretched out with on hand on her abdomen, the other lying next to her with her head turned slightly to the side, eyes wide open. It had appeared that she had fallen down the staircase and died due to head trauma.
But the death of Zona Shue was not that cut-and-dry, and with the help of ghost testimony, her ever-persistent mother and her loud-mouthed husband, the murderer of Zona Shue was eventually brought to justice.
Join the The Lady Dicks as they travel back in time to 1897 in Greenbrier County, West Virginia, to tell the story of Zona, the Greenbrier ghost who testified at her own trial.

With over 140 years of operation, Eastern State was the “inspiration” for over 300 prisons worldwide, and inspiration it was! | Ghosts of the San Fernando Cathedral | 11 Jun 2021 | 00:33:19
We are packing our bags and heading into the time machine so we can zip ourselves back to the 18th century. We’re headed to present-day Texas which was then Papaya territory—we don’t mean the tropical fruit that smells like vomit, but rather a tribe of indigenous hunter gathers. The Papayans lived around what is now called the San Antonio River, and in 1731, a group of people all the way from the Canary island with a promise from the King of Spain that they could build a church there. Today we’re going to try and understand why they thought this was a good idea, and how the church that they would eventually build what would become one of the most haunted landmarks in America. Former construction and rail workers report mysterious apparitions, unexplainable occurrences, spirits in the forest and disembodied voices. And it’s no surprise. During the controversial construction of this stretch of track at least 200 men lost their lives to workplace accidents, explosions and even cold-blooded murder. | The Haunted LaLaurie Mansion | 06 Mar 2021 | 00:56:25
Nicholas Cage once told Vanity Fair that he lived in the “most haunted house in America.” He purchased the house at 1140 Royal Street in New Orleans famous French Quarter because he thought “it would be a good place in which to write the great American horror novel”—but as far as we know, that novel never got finished. But he wasn’t wrong about the setting. Few properties can boast a past quite as horrific as that of the LaLaurie Mansion. Places like the former DeFeo home in Amityville, New York, where Robert DeFeo, Jr. killed his entire family, or the Moore family home in Villisca, Iowa, where eight people were hacked to death by an unnamed axeman come to mind, but even they just scrape the surface of the alleged horrors of the Royal Street mansion. | Is the Stanley Hotel Haunted? | 27 Feb 2021 | 00:42:13
The Historic Stanley Hotel If you’ve never heard of The Stanley Hotel we assume that you’ve never watched or read The Shining or done any research on haunted hotels because this is, perhaps, one of the most famous haunted hotels in America because of its association with famed horror writer, Stephen King, and it’s role as the muse for the book (and subsequent film) The Shining. The Stanley Hotel is a Georgian-style hotel located in Estes Park, Colorado, roughly 90-minutes from Denver. Georgian architecture style, for those that are curious, is marked by the “symmetry and proportion-based on [the] classical architecture of Greece and Rome.” The Stanley Hotel is an “elite, 420-room retreat” that offers panoramic views of Lake Estes and the Rockies with ample old-world charm and exceptional service. It was built by investor and entrepreneur, Freelan Oscar (AKA “FO”) Stanley, who was the owner of the Stanley Motor Carriage Co., in 1909, and his wife Flora travelled west from Chicago and fell in love with the area. FO Stanley is best known as the inventor of the “Stanley steam engine” which was essentially a steam-powered horseless carriage (AKA a car). FO had tuberculosis and was given six months to live. His doctor recommended that he and his wife seek out fresh air as treatment and arranged for the couple to travel to the Denver area. Surprisingly, his health did, in fact, start to improve and they loved the area so much that they decided to open up a little retreat there. Construction on the hotel started in 1906, and the hotel officially opened in 1909. The Stanley Hotel was a grand, top-of-the-line hotel equipped with running water, electricity and telephones. The only amenity that the hotel didn’t have was heat because it was intended to be a summer-only resort. The Stanley’s build their own private residence a half-mile west of the hotel. Famous guests include The Unsinkable Molly Brown—who was the American socialite and philanthropist who survived the Titanic, the Emperor and Empress of Japan, John Philip Sousa, Teddy Roosevelt and, later, Stephen King. And, like many of the places on our list, it’s also recognized for its history, though, in this case, it’s recognized by Historic Hotels of America that recognizes the “nation’s finest historic lodging properties.” Prior to the Stanley’s purchasing the land, it was owned by Earl Lord Dunraven who came to the area in 1872, on a hunting trip. The Earl built a lodge, cabin and a hotel for guests and “illegally homesteaded up to 6,000 acres in an unsuccessful attempt to create a private hunting preserve.” Naturally, he wasn’t super popular in the area, and after attempting to swindle locals out of land and money he was promptly run out of the area. The Stanley Hotel Most Haunted RoomRoom 217: The Stephen King Room Room 217 is the famed room that Stephen King stayed in that helped inspire his famous book, The Shining. This second-floor room has a beautiful view of the Rockies and today you’ll find a library of King novels, because why not? Stephen and Tabitha King arrived in the off-season and ended up being the only guests in the hotel, which means they ate in an empty dining room with “pre-recorded orchestra music playing.” King described suddenly waking up from a nightmare in which his 3-year-old son was being chased, screaming through the corridors of the hotel. And by the time he headed out onto the balcony for a smoke, the storyline for The Shining was already well on its way. This room is said to be haunted by the ghost of Elizabeth Wilson AKA Mrs. Wilson who was the hotel’s former housekeeper. Mrs. Wilson was injured during a 1911 storm, when she went to light one of the lanterns in room 217, it exploded without warning. Luckily she survived but unfortunately ended up breaking both ankles. Even though Mrs. Wilson didn't pass away...
| The Mummy’s Curse: Discovery of King Tut’s Tomb | 12 Feb 2021 | 01:11:50 | |
We're headed WAY back in time to Ancient Egypt to discuss the life and death of the most famous Egyptian pharaoh, King Tutankhamen. Despite the fact that the "Boy King" was in power for a mere decade, the finding of his burial site influenced modern culture in ways you can only imagine. But this isn't really a history podcast...
What we're really doing hanging out with the major players in the 18th Dynasty of Ancient Egypt is because of the alleged Mummy's Curse. In the 1920s when archaeologists and Egypt enthusiasts, Howard Carter and Lord Carnarvon, and the people present mysteriously started dying, word of the Curse of the Pharaohs spread like wildfire.
On this episode of The Lady Dicks, the #DickSquad is digging into life in King Tut's crew, inscriptions written on the tombs of Egyptian royals, who died from the alleged curse and whether or not it's real. Oh, and we're also travelling to the Valley of the Kings and telling you about a few of the ghosts that lurk around the area. Don't miss the bad travel reviews, terrible name pronunciations and lots of incest talk (#SorryNotSorry, it's Ancient Egypt...).

| Carroll Deering: A Ghost Ship Mystery | 21 Aug 2021 | 00:34:20 | |
Just off the coast of North Carolina, along the outer banks is an area of treacherous waters where the cold Labrador current meets the warm waters of the gulf stream. Strong offshore winds help create a spot for low and high pressure weather systems to collide. Since the 1500s, sailors have been wary of the area, and these waters have earned the nickname graveyard of the Atlantic due to the high number of shipwrecks and countless human lives lost in the region. It was in these very waters that the Carroll A. Deering was found, with no crew, no lifeboats and no sign of what had happened. But legend has it that Santa’s evil twin might be hitching a ride in that sleigh, spreading not cheer but leaving behind sticks and committing battery each year.

| Who Killed Harry Houdini? The Mysterious Death Of The Greatest Illusionist In History | 12 Dec 2020 | 00:57:03 | |
Harry Houdini is probably the most famous illusionist and escape artist in history. He could escape from pretty much everything—handcuffs, boxes, jail cells, the belly of the Loch Ness Monster—you name it. But he wasn't exactly the best at making friends and influencing people. He was dead-set against anything having to do with spirituality and wrote a ton of what we assume were self-published books throwing shade at the who's-who of the magic world. So, when he suddenly died of what seemed to be a mundane medical condition, people got suspish. | Jazz It Out: The Axeman of New Orleans | 04 Dec 2020 | 00:50:02
Between May 1918 and October 1919, the Axeman of New Orleans terrorized the Italian grocer population in New Orleans, Louisiana. While he had less than a 50 percent kill rate (not exceptional for a serial killer, definitely not one with personal connections to "His Satanic Majesty, Francis Josef, etc.") he made quite an impact on the city that STILL insists on jazzing it out between March 13 and 15th every year, to avoid incurring the wrath of the Axeman.
Thank God the #DickSquad is back to tackle this mystery. For over 100 years the identity of this killer with terrible aim has remained a mystery. Can we solve it? Hell yeah, we can certainly fail at doing that.

| The Exorcism of Anneliese Michel | 10 Jul 2020 | 01:08:13 | |
So far we’ve learned how to spot witches, become pirates and defeat (some) ghosts, and here at #DickHeadquarters we think it’s high time we start tackling some demons. We’re going to be covering a creepy and sad story of a sick young woman who was exorcized over and over again, instead of being given medical attention.

The Bell Witch is one of the most famous supernatural cases in America. In fact, it was so famous at it's time that it caught the eye of a future president. On a secluded farm in Adams, Tennessee, the Bell family was taunted and haunted by a witch possibly named Kate. This is their story.
This episode was recorded under the name the "Haunted History Podcast" before we rebranded to The Lady Dicks. Enjoy!

While it's no longer in operation, it was an amazing feat when it was built with a somewhat dark history. Join The Lady Dicks this week as we head to Oregon to share tales and possibly ghost stories (?) from this old relic.

| Bobby Mackey's Bar, Wilder, Kentucky. | 14 Aug 2021 | 00:23:30 | |
Today we're going to have a look at a listeners request, the so called 'Bobby Mackey Nightclub and Honkytonk, you might be asking if we just made those two words up but no, in Kentucky they get to say just about anything they want. So yes, a 'honkytonk' is a real thing, that basically just means a bar where self-proclaimed hilly billy music is played, sometimes with piano accompaniment. The piano itself is also sometimes called a honkytonk. But enough of that, as usual, we're not here to talk about country music, but ghosts. And Bobby Mackey's has quite a collection of them. Some say it even has a door to hell. I wonder if you have to pay extra for that. The Lady Dicks dick-tect history, mystery and paranormal tales from around the world. Hailing from Canada, Andrea and Tae are a terribly cheesy comedic duo that covers some of life’s biggest mysteries and peskiest ghosts.
