K&F Show Summary: In this second ever episode of the Dukes of Hazzard we learn that Daisy Duke is an aspiring songstress. She spends her own money to have a song published, it is, and it is then recorded professionally but a real country singer.,......all so that we get to watch her show up in a 70’s one piece that is definitely still in fashion. Bo and Luke trick the bad guys into thinking Daisy can be an "AI" impersonator of real singers so they can then sell the now fake records for real money. And it turns out that the bad guys are really run by Boss Hogg, which is honeying up to women and trying to get in cahoots with - effectively - the mob! This may be the weirdest, coolest, and most true-to-it's creator (Gy Waldron) episode ever…..and it has the full details on the Daisy RoadRunner that our man Corndog is preparing this very second.

"Ferris Bueller's Day Off"

Note: This Dukes review is a rebroadcast from Episode 228 of the Kibbe and Friends Show. With summer ending and kids heading back to school, this was the closest "school" car thing we could think of. Plus....Emily Kibbe is headed off to her first year of college and Dad Kibbe needed an extra 10 minutes to cry. Enjoy!

K&F Show Summary with Special Guest, Ryan Brutt:

Ferris Bueller's Day off is the tale of one high school hero who truly had it all; looks, brains, money, friends, a smokin' hot girlfriend, popularity, style, and panache. However, despite all of that he still lacked the two things that he needed most....a day off, and a car! This is the tale of Ferris Bueller, the 4th wall breaking, Ferrari stealing, John Hughes immortal movie hit of 1986. Like nearly every other John Hughes tale the setting of the story was the Chicago suburbs!

The Ferrari in the film is supposed to be a 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California. The insert shots of emblems and wheels really are of the genuine article, but absolutely everything else was a faker-oo Modena Spyder replica (three of them, actually). Ferrari was none too happy with this movie and sued Modena out of business. Most reports show that the Ford powered replicas were ham-fisted together, ran poorly, and broke down often. In fact our man Ryan Brutt (The Auto Archaeologist) joined in to share the tales of the man that keep the fake Ferrari's running during the movie filming; his dad!

Dukes Review: There’s a plot. Too much plot, some good shots of the General, a cool jump or two…..and then I forget. The IMDB guy got it mostly right. Daisy gets confused by a hypochondriac mobster for being a nurse because she was in a church play that required extra short nurse outfits. And she switched her book of lines for the play with his book of illegal business and ill gottenness. So there’s that. The General Lee had carbon buildup, which is dumb, backfired, and then the whole episode is dealing with said hypochondriac. Luckily, Corndog found a detail on a GL with a 273 small block and nitrous!

Dukes Review: This is the show that convinced you that you can spy on any secret conversation simply by hiding under a desk. I hid under my parents bed once for an hour to hear what I was getting for Christmas…...but they never left immediately after spilling the beans like they do on TV and I eventually had to crawl out and got caught.

Anyway, this is part of the "Dukes Infiltrate the Mob" episode by racing in NASCAR, in an Oldsmobile, that’s supposed to be a Chevy, that someone wants to replicate out of a Buick. Solid story telling, vintage NASCAR, good stunts…….that’s fine. The introduction of glamping is here, and that's nice. There’s not enough General Lee in this episode of course, but this the episode that the PC culture should watch….because the Duke that wins the NASCAR race - in one try - is Daisy. And in a true sign of playing both sides of the aisle, the Dukes get another phone call from the President of the Unites States. Now they've had a call from a Republican (Reagan) and a Democrat (Carter). Good episode. More General Lee, please. 6 Corndogs.

Dukes Review: You had me at two part episode. In the entire Dukes series run we’ve only had this happen two other times, in fact! There are faux stock cars with factory Oldsmobile burgundy dashes, random weird sitings of NASCAR Champ Terry Labonte, and chimpanzees as crew members. 1984, you never looked so good.

Anyway, Bo and Luke - in less than 20 seconds - choose to leave Hazzard and serve their government for a complete and total stranger with the goal of putting a corrupt mob boss behind bars for good. The only problem…..they have to leave the farm - and Uncle Jesse - to do it!  Worst of all, they can’t tell a soul why or else their loved ones will be KILLED gangster style. Daisy loses it, because she’s out of the loop on the truth......and she’s really freaked out that Coy and Vance are coming back. Aren’t we all.

Dukes Review: The preview shows jumps, cars sliding in a junkyard, and more jumps. You had me at junkyard. Luke’s long lost love (named Candy Dix - no joke) from his days in the Marines arrives. She’s now a huge Country and Western star of course and she has an abusive manager that would love to see her dead because her life insurance would pay off his gambling debts. The classic story, I know. Watch out for this guy - he’s a trickster - and he’ll be on an episode of Knight Rider in about 10 months driving the evil KARR, KITT's twin (yet evil) brother.

Anyway, Bo and Luke get rid of the abusive manager, jump some stuff, cruise a junkyard with a Karmann Ghia in it, and then Tom Wopat sings at the end which I assume was part of the deal that brought them back in Season 5. It’s a good episode. Why? Because stunts solve problems people. They just do. And - there is an outside chance this is the same plot for the second Dukes of Hazzard reunion movie. 6 Corndogs.

Dukes Review: Dukes Review: Just when you think the Dukes of Hazzard has invented everything in modern TV and movie pop culture we find out they invented another huge celebrity that is my secret shame to zen out to…..the PBS sensation known as….Bob Ross. That’s right, this is a show about paining happy little trees faster than the General Lee can go from '68 to '69 to '68. Boss Hogg has local painter Artie Bender declared legally dead so he can sell his paintings for more money….and it works, proving that art is subjective to the point of stupidity. Anyway, Aritie Bender witnesses a robbery, Bo and Luke chase the bad guys, Artie is declared dead and can’t vouch for them, Sheriff Little tries to kill them, and it all works out in the end. 6 Corndogs.

K&F Movie Summary - SPOILERS AHEAD:

We saw it! Ryan Gosling plays the Fall Guy in the big screen movie. Any of our fears about this ruining a beloved TV tale about stunts and jump trucks were wrong! The movie is great and while it might be a one and done it could certainly feature sequels too! Gosling plays the Colt Seavers, a Hollywood stunt man that ends up having to solve a mystery, while jumping trucks and doing stunts. Sound familiar?

Colt ends up being nearly killed during the opening movie-within-a-movie stunt (that Gosling really did) due to sabotage by the jealous star that he’s doubling. It breaks his confidence and takes him away from the career (and woman) that he loves. But, when Jody the camera girl becomes Jody the director of the biggest baddest stunt movie ever to be made….he comes out of retirement to get it done. And save the relationship. And solve the mystery of the leading man that was dead…..or was he? In it are thrown in intentional meta references, sound effects and songs that will make your hears sing, aliens that make you laugh, all leading to the good guy winning in the end with the help of the girl….and a brown and gold GMC truck.

Dukes Review: It’s been a while since we had a good old hypnosis episode. Now, I must admit, this episode was one that I was dreading…..until the stunts started.  This is the one where Daisy gets hypnotized into thinking she's a long lost heiress of a really sad, dedicated, and super rich old guy. They even did a rare callback to a previous episode character (the hypnotist Dr from Season 4) and used the same silly music! And is it just me, or is hypnotizing someone against their will to gain financially more than criminal....maybe more like, evil? Seriously, Boss Hogg should probably go to prison for life here.  Is this a great episode?  No.  But it’s not terrible.  And in Season 6, that’s something.  The End. 7 Corndogs.

Dukes Review: Paris Hilton’s aunt Kim guest stars as the long-lost daughter of Cooter. Finally! And there's more aviation in this episode, but it's a glider that's launched by the General Lee and would probably crash due to lack of any real altitude. I digress. Anyway, Cooter has a kid…..but in Season 6, family values reign….and they make sure to point out that the child was conceived in wedlock. Later on, Boss Hogg starts a Jane Fonda type physical fitness campaign. Then we meet actually evil bad guys that Cooter keeps fighting with who are doing the most evil thing ever in the early 1980’s - dumping TOXIC waste. There's a lot going on in this episode, but one thing is for certain.....there is not enough General Lee to make it fun. 4 Corndogs.

Dukes Review: Wait a minute. I watched the show preview. Haven’t we seen this one before? And was that bad guy…...the African American "Car 55" cop from Blue Brothers? And is Boss Hogg committing insurance fraud...again? Dang man. This seems kinda boring. Daisy become a crop duster, Boss hired bad guys to do something, they double crossed him, one of the bad guys can fly a plane, they ran a protection racket against farmers by threatening to poison their crops, there are some great GL drifts in here at high speed….and the few minutes of aerial shots is awesome….but then Bo hangs by a rope ladder - from a plane - while the bad guys exhausts not one, but two 6-shooters trying to kill him….and he’s literally just hanging there, pretty hard to miss frankly….I’m at a loss here. I'm mostly in this for Corndog’s Book. Oh - 28 episodes to go. The countdown is on.

Movie Review: Back To the Future Rebroadcast! As a great man once said, if you put your mind to it you can accomplish anything...and we have just accomplished our review of Back To the Future, the most perfect, amazing, awesome, cool, and funny time travel movie featuring a DeLorean ever! Did you know that the DeLorean and KITT share something in common? Did you know that Ford wanted the Mustang to be the star instead? Did you know that nearly the entire movie was shot with a different actor playing the role of Marty McFly? If not...you guys just aren't ready for this stuff yet. But your kids are going to love it. Dukes Review: The preview alone showed two movie-quality camera shots of the General that have been burned into my brain since the age of 8. Hell yes. Let's be clear. The Dukes was once a show about race car driving ex-moonshiners, but it morphed itself into a classic Western with bad guys and good guys. And kick ass camera shots of sliding Chargers. And jumping Chargers. And people sliding in the windows of Chargers. And this one is the first feature of WHOGG Radio (obviously, we like any reference that shows radio being important and relevant.) The RidgeRunners are back. The Dukes pull a trick that will inspire the resolution to the movie Three Amigo with the art of confusion. And Daisy drives like a banshee in this one, proving a hot chick that can drive hot is extra hot….and she is on Enos’s jock like static cling (quote "Tone Loc" on that one). 10 Corndogs.

Dukes Review: To quote the great Dwight Schrute, I love a good set of twins. Randi and Candi Brough make their return to the Dukes to - once again - play the role of identical twin sisters for the Dukes to love on. This time they lay characters that are named Cindy and Sandy. Last time they were on it was Floralee and Francee. Apparently rhyming first names is important when establishing that people are identical twins. Anyway, this time they are thieves and use their identicalness to cast the art of deception on Bo and Luke Duke. The rest of the plot is irrelevant, but entertaining nonetheless. 6 Dogs.

K&F Show Summary: This time we're all in for something different. In light of the upcoming "The Fall Guy" movie releasing on May 3, 2024 we decided to do a deep dive on the original TV series and  a preview of the new movie. Even better, we were joined by our own Nathan Warren of Warren Customs as the guest co-host. We don't know anyone that loves Fall Guy trucks (and the TV series) more than Nathan. He even once stated that "it's like the Dukes of Hazzard, only better."

The Movie:

Our spies in Australia have already seen the movie and sure us that its good, and Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt's promotions have been fantastic to watch!

An original (replica) style Fall Guy truck appears in the movie, but the "new" GMC Sierra 1500 appears as the modern day equivalent. It looks to be an entertaining movie, and FINALLY one that will highlight the stunt performers that have always been hidden in the shadows in any Hollywood production.

Stuntman Logan Holladay performed an 8.5 barrel-roll stunt for the movie that set a world record in doing it!

Even better, Ryan Gosling and SNL's Mikey Day promoted the movie by dressing up as Beavis and Butthead and standing in front of the 2024 Fall Guy Truck.

Fall Guy Show Summary:

Colt Seavers (Lee Majors) hunts down a bad guy who has stolen a town’s treasurers and hides the bad guy from the screaming townsfolk in the secret stash compartment of the truck. Unbeknownst to Colt (but knownst to us) the bad guy hides the key to the town’s treasurers in the trucks’ afore mentioned secret compartment.  That way when he got away later….he could just shoot the driver of the truck (Colt) and get his key back. Easy Peasy. Unfortunately, Colt’s nephew Howie (Douglas Barr) was driving the truck on two wheels with the shows' blonde Daisy Duke equivalent (Jody, played by Heather Thomas). She survived but the nephew was nearly killed, leaving Colt and Heather Thomas right the wrongs.  Hijinks ensue, the catch the bad guy, we see one of the train derailed Knight Rider cars painted white, two more stunt trucks, and lots a jumps. Pretty tidy episode. 9 Nathan Warren Sasquatches.

Dukes Review: I’m not going to lie to you. This. This is bad. Not as bad as when they are going to use miniatures instead of real cars, and definitely not as bad as when they’re going to put that midget in an alien suit next season, but this is bad. A kid actor named Danny Cooksey stars in this episode. He will later go on to be on Diff'rent Strokes. After that he'll get to play the red headed white trash buddy of John Conner in Terminator 2, which was, I think we can all agree, is a turning point in cinematography and the best of the Terminator franchise. Anyway, in this episode, this poor kid…..got dubbed over. And he got dubbed over by a 62 year old Canadian voice actress named Billie Mae Richards….who you know best as the voice of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. So you need to ask yourself. Was the Coy and Vance thing from last season just to increase our pain threshold prepare us for horrible levels of future suck? Was it like boiling a frog by slowly turning up the heat? This one hurts. The end.

The DEEP DIVE REBROADCAST: Since the dawn of time man has wondered what really happened to all the General Lee's from the Dukes of Hazzard TV series. We've been told through folklore that 19 cars remained and 17 were sold into private hands in 1991, with Warner Brothers keeping the remaining two. Dukes Review: Bull from night Court returns again and so does my high school Nova. And that hidden headlight LTD from last season. And the square body Malibu too. Funny, Boss races the Malibu in this episode - and also raced it in the past, but in an episode that hasn't happened yet. That’ll make sense next season. Anyway, yet another Season 6 episode featuring Boss Hogg ...as the sympathetic good guy. Whatever happened to tradition. But not all is lost...there are plenty of stunts, a few laughs, and the cynical season Six quotes that are kind of endearing. Like Luke telling Bo that he’s stupid. Again, I’m summarizing here. If you’re a purist you’ll be disappointed in the amount of General Lee you get and what you do get is a lot of recycled footage. 18 producers gotta get paid somehow. The end.

Dukes Review: It’s the oldest story ever told. A random long lost relative shows up at the door, wants to show you the birthmark on his private area as proof, demands you help him escape from murderers, and then leaves at the end with a clear conscience. I’ve heard it a thousand times. And on this show, just like Jeb Stuart Duke, Coy Duke, and Vance Duke, Jud Duke will never be mentioned again. The General Lee is barely in this episode at all. Boss Hogg and Rosco end up fighting on the side of the Dukes again at the end. John Schneider rides a car roof though and does some seriously good underwater stunts....and for that we'll upgrade it to 7 Corndogs.

Dukes Review: If there was ever a better era than the early 80’s for the claim that plastic surgery can actually may you look like someone else, I wouldn’t believe it. And nothing tugs more on the heart strings than thinking a loved one has been killed by jumping a car into a lake, even though they’ve done that a billion times with no issue. In this one - when Rosco is presumed dead - everyone from Bo to Boss is sad, crying, and solemn. But he’s not dead of course, there are now just two people that look like him. Daisy still wears a low neckline dress to his wake that’ll also have you seeing double. John Scneider gets some seriously great acting and driving in, Tom Wopat climbs out the right side of a flying car in a left hand slide, the bad guys get caught, and did I mention we get a look at the General Lee trunk popper in this episode? That may be better than Daisy's dress. 10 stars.

Dukes Review: This is the episode about the haves and have nots; the arrogant and unsatisfied rich against the humble yet content poor. When people reminisce back on The Dukes of Hazzard and say :this was a show you could let your kids watch safely," this was the literal episode they meant. Horses are used as police cars. Enemies work together to fight and even bigger enemy. There’s a lesson in here about not starting forest fires that’s...helpful. Rosco’s real life daughter is the guest star. I wouldn’t say this one is not good….but I would say it’s not great. Or that good. I miss Season 2. The end.

Project Update: Corndog's '66 Charger runs....and the Holley Sniper seems to have even sorted out his crazy high-lift cam! After setting the Idle Air Control following warmup it now cranks over on the first start, cold or hot. Idle timing is 28 degrees, All in at 34 degrees.

MOVIE REVIEW: Stroker Ace! If you loved Smokey and the Bandit, Cannonball Run, Police Academy, WKRP, Gomer Pyle: USMC, The Hardy Boys, Elvira: Mistress of the Dark, Deliverance, and Days of Thunder….this is like all of them combined, minus ….basically everything from Deliverance except Ned Beaty, and all of the really good stuff from Days of Thunder like Tom Cruise and amazing cinematography with real in car race footage at speed. This movie would be culture cancelled today. Sexual harassment is considered innocent fun, women are ogled, there’s no drug use, and the confederate flags are a plenty. But when Hal Needham called, Burt Reynolds answered...and made a box office flop that has kept us all clucking and chuckling to this day. Why? Because he was driving the FASTEST CHICKEN IN THE SOUTH.

The General looks great, cars are freshened up, the clothes are a little less spray painted on, and for now the stunts DON’T involve miniatures….but knowing it's coming may make you wretch in advance. This episode though, pretty good, and they film at Six Flags I think. To conclude… Lulu is kidnapped for ransom and then rescued. The end.

K&F Show Summary: For your listening pleasure (and for absolutely no other reason) in liuue of a move of TV vehicle review we present to you something a little different. This is our full breakdown of every classic Dominic Toretto driven '68-'70 Charger from the Fast and Furious movie franchise, from the beginning in 2001 to current day (April 2024 as of this recording).

As you know, the series that started in 2001 with a bunch of VCR thief stealing family members has become a 20+ year action franchise. Dominic Toretto (as portrayed by Vin Diesel) has been the lead character nearly everyone one of them, and Dom has a thing for MOPARS. Beyond that though, he has a SERIOUS thing for '68-'70 Chargers (with the '70 being the primary).

We don't claim to be as solid with the F&F franchise as we are the Dukes of Hazzard, but we did our best. At worst we spend an absolutely ridiculous amount of time discussing ridiculous franchise doing ridiculous things with flying Dodge Charger. Basically, it was perfect for us.

Pop Culture: Chuck Yeager has died. Listen in for a tribute to a pilot from another era that loved duty above all else. An A-1, all American, total bad ass!

Dukes Review: This episode is AWESOME! It has everything: Duke genealogy, aerial stunts, maps of Hazzard, a strange bad guy (lady) that is rich, successful, driven, and so cool she has a huge gap in her front teeth. The plot revolves are strip mining Hazzard for coal deposits and a helicopter fighting the General Lee! It’s great, so great in fact that when they wrote the 2005 Dukes of Hazzard movie they just took the plot from this episode and added a race to it. Really. It’s awesome. 10 Corndogs.

Dukes Rview: Finally, proof that Bo and Luke are so much better. At everything. This is the episode where Bo and Luke decide to become "Big Brothers" to a troubled youth in need. Then the "youth" (who was played by an actor four years older than John Scnheider) steals the General Lee, finds some stolen money, and Boss Hogg keeps him from getting murdered (really). Dukes Review: The last Coy and Vance episode is finally here. Oh, how I have waited for this day! Now, this isn’t a bad episode. In fact this episode has a number of themes that really set the stage for what the Dukes is all about. Self reliance, chivalry, open prayer, putting others needs ahead of your own, and jumping cars. And while I didn’t love Coy and Vance, I did like Byron Cherry and Chris Mayer. They were nice guys in an impossible situation. A situation that is about to end! (Vance never should have said the General was theirs. I never forgave him for that one.)

Dukes Review - S5E15: This episode is a clinic in what goes around, comes around. The entire show is a cartoonish version of basically the same episode from Season 2, but this time with flying coffins.  Boss still has to leap moving vehicles to convince people he’s dead. Not one, but two actors from previous episodes come back to play different characters, and the outfit the bad guy (girl) is wearing….is both sensational as well as now back in fashion (high waisted shorts with a belt.) Surprised her outfit actually stayed on, actually. Anyway, this is a repeat of a season 2 episode plot, a season 2 bad guy car, with a repeat of a season 3 set of characters, with a season 4 bad guy car. And the GL jumps a barn. It may be the best Coy and Vance episode ever.

This episode….has legit - nay - GREAT - stunts in the form of two totally awesome stunts over moving vehicles. There is a reference of radio stations - which Bernie should like. There is a comically sized magnet involved that looks like something Wile E. Coyote would use. At long last, Boss Hogg finally uses a bazooka. The first time Vance Duke sees the Mean Green Machine he shoots dynamite at it. And the acting in this…..is not terrible. In fact, it’s tolerable. Cartoonishly charming, even. Chris Mayer and Byron Cherry are kind of getting into the swing of things. But, in just three episodes, they’ll be homeless and will never be mentioned again.
