Matt Goodwin | The Conservative Realignment: Mass Migration, Populism, and the Future of the UK & US04 Sep 202400:32:45

What are the key factors driving the rise of populism in response to mass migration and other cultural and political issues in the UK and across Western democracies? Heritage Foundation President Dr. Kevin Roberts sits down with Dr. Matt Goodwin, a leading voice in the fight against the political and cultural upheavals threatening the very foundation of the UK and US. Dr. Goodwin, Senior Advisor at the Legatum Institute and Honorary Professor of Politics at the University of Kent, lays out the stark realities facing conservatives today—on both sides of the Atlantic. With the rise of populism, the betrayal of conservative values by the political elite, and the relentless advance of woke ideology, Dr. Roberts and Dr. Goodwin confront the critical challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. They explore how conservatives must forge a bold, united front to defend our principles and restore power to the working class. About Dr. Matt Goodwin:

Matt Goodwin is a professor of political science, a writer, pollster, and political advisor to corporations and other bodies. He works where the worlds of research, politics, and policy collide —talking with politicians, journalists, and academics while crunching his own data and running his own opinion polls and focus groups. Matt has advised countless governments, companies, and leaders around the globe, including one president, three Prime Ministers, leaders of the opposition, dozens of politicians, and more than a few CEOs from the world’s largest companies. He’s the author of multiple award-winning, bestselling books including the Sunday Times bestseller Values, Voice, and Virtue, which explains how and why the new elite lost touch, and the Sunday Times bestseller National Populism: The Revolt Against Liberal Democracy, which has been translated into multiple languages. He’s also the author of the definitive book on the Brexit vote, Brexit: Why Britain Voted to Leave the European Union, and the Political Book of the Year, Revolt on the Right, which successfully forecast the rise of populism and Brexit in Britain. Matt served for a decade as Associate and Senior Fellow at the Royal Institute of International Affairs, Chatham House, a Senior Fellow at the Legatum Institute, an official advisor to the UK Education Committee, a Senior Fellow at Policy Exchange, and as one of the UK government’s Social Mobility Commissioners He has also been seconded to a government department, working alongside national policy makers.

Nick Freitas | Strong Families, Strong Men: Defending America's Future28 Aug 202400:43:27

Tune in for a powerful conversation about defending our nation’s future. Delegate Nick Freitas has been married to his high school sweetheart Tina Freitas since 1999. She has interviewed major political figures including the vice president of the United States and many members of the U.S. Congress, but her reporting has focused on the protection of children's innocence, on giving a voice to women whose private spaces are compromised by the presence of biological males, and on #METOO allegations against prominent figures. She is a graduate of The Catholic University of America, and the proud eldest daughter of an Irish Catholic family of eleven children.

About "DeTrans: True Stories of Escaping the Gender Ideology Cult:"

Trans activists are all about speaking up—unless you regret your “transition” and have made the journey back. If you question gender ideology, you’d better keep your mouth shut. But a compelling new book features multiple interviews with detransitioners and gives a voice to young people who were caught up in this damaging ideology. And their testimony—including from the lawsuits they have filed against the gender-affirming medical and therapeutic professionals who treated them—is unforgettable. "Gay Pride Month" every June has become an unquestioning celebration not just of Lesbians, Gays, and Bisexuals, but also of Transitioning. Detransitioners' experience reveals that there's more complexity and pain involved in that category than most people will ever guess.

The number of teens and pre-teens persuaded they were born with the wrong body has exploded. Goaded by a toxic online “community” and assisted by teachers, doctors, and even their own parents, they are promptly set on the path of puberty-blockers, cross-sex hormones, and gruesome “gender-affirming” surgeries.

Media and activists insist that “transitioning” is the happy ending to these stories. But countless young people bear terrible emotional and physical scars. Adding to their anguish, the transgender community that once embraced them now wants to keep them quiet.

Now one fearless reporter, Mary Margaret Olohan, shares their stories. Based on in-depth personal interviews, Detrans exposes the unconscionable abuse these detransitioners have endured—manipulative therapy sessions, mental and emotional anguish, botched surgeries, and attempts to construct phantom body parts. Their testimonies reveal a truth so disturbing that transgender activists will do anything to hide it.

Detrans is indispensable evidence of the life-shattering power of gender ideology.

Episode 39 | The Battle Plan for the Conservative Movement09 Nov 202200:18:50

Conservatives made important gains on Election Day—both in our state capitals and the halls of Congress. Battle-tested conservative governors won resounding victories, while the incoming Republican-controlled U.S. House will bring much-needed accountability to the Biden administration.

Those candidates who emerged victorious had something in common: They demonstrated bold leadership, with a clear policy agenda that improves the lives of everyday Americans.

At a time when many Americans are desperate for bold leadership and fresh ideas, Heritage will serve as America’s outpost in our nation’s capital—representing the forgotten men and women, and ensuring policymakers deliver on the promises made to voters.

This speech was given at Heritage's 2022 Resource Bank.

Episode 38 | Yuval Levin02 Nov 202200:41:47

Americans have been losing trust in key institutions for nearly two generations. The reality is that those institutions—government, media, corporations, and education—have been in a state of decay for decades, the real-world effects of which are beginning to manifest on increasingly large scales.

Dr. Yuval Levin joins today’s episode of The Kevin Roberts Show to detail the origins of the current state of our institutions, why Americans have lost trust in them, and the standards we ought to hold them to.

Yuval shares how his experience becoming a US citizen has informed his worldview and helped to forge his career path defending the constitutional principles we hold dear.

Yuval Levin, Ph.D., is the Director of Social, Cultural, and Constitutional Studies at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI). He is the founder and editor of National Affairs and is an opinion writer at the New York Times. Under George W. Bush, Dr. Levin was a member of the White House domestic policy staff and the executive director of the President’s Council on Bioethics.

Episode 37 | Brendan Carr26 Oct 202200:35:15

At Heritage, we’re not afraid to call it how it is: Big Tech is an enemy of the American people. They have essentially unencumbered access to Americans’ personal information, have colluded to censor and de-platform dissenting voices—mostly conservatives—and perhaps worst of all, have partnered with the Chinese Communist Party to develop surveillance technologies to oppress its own people and military technologies that threaten ours.

Between the cancel culture mob and foreign adversaries, we must find a way to champion freedom of speech and national security; something much easier said than done.

Brendan Carr, commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), gives an insider's perspective on how America is tackling today’s biggest tech issues.

Nominated by President Trump, Commissioner Brendan Carr is the senior Republican at the FCC. His goals for the commission include modernizing America’s communication infrastructure, upgrading to 5G, and expanding the skilled labor force.

Episode 36 | Daron Babcock19 Oct 202200:36:06

In the current political environment, it may seem dubious to believe that one day 330 million Americans could wake up and believe that they’re part of a civil society that recognizes their dignity as a human person.

But it’s not impossible. Daron Babcock believes there is hope.

Human dignity ought to be the end-all-be-all that guides us. Restoring self-governance and cultivating human flourishing starts with community. Daron and Kevin address the importance of community in restoring lives and why a focus on independence, rather than dependence on decades of failed public programs, has been both the path to success in Bonton, Texas and a model for poverty-stricken cities across the country.

Bonton, Texas, a small South Dallas neighborhood has long been plagued by crime, drugs, and gang violence. Daron Babcock shares how a Bonton, where 85% of the men have been to prison, has become a beacon of hope and a model for success.

This week’s guest: Moved by his personal beliefs, Daron Babcock couldn’t sit idly by as he witnessed his neighbors in South Dallas be ravaged by institutional inequities. In 2012, he left a successful corporate career and moved from his home in North Dallas to serve inner-city residents of Bonton, Texas with his wife, Theda. Known for crime, violence, and extreme poverty, Bonton needed intervention at the macro-level – something Daron knew was not only necessary but possible.

Daron is referred to as a “social entrepreneur,” having started multiple successful social ventures; Bonton Honey Company, The Market at Bonton Farms, a Coffee House, a Farmers Market, and CityBuild Housing to name a few. Of all his ventures, the most notable, though, is Bonton Farms, one of the largest urban farms in the United States nestled in a once-forgotten neighborhood in South Dallas.

Episode 35 | Tim Carney12 Oct 202200:42:38

America’s cultural institutions have been slowly eroding for decades. Today’s episode of “The Kevin Roberts Show” tackles the erosion of religion in the public square — an institution whose role as a binding agent that creates healthy neighborhoods and communities can’t be understated.

Kevin and Tim discuss why social pathologies such as a decline in the nuclear family and a lower birthrate have been slowly progressing, the importance of community life and the role church plays in it, and most importantly, how to solve these issues.

Tim Carney is a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute where he focuses on religion, civil society, and economic competition. Tim is also a senior political columnist at the Washington Examiner.

Episode 34 | Pavlos Papadopoulos05 Oct 202200:28:15

America’s institutions of education need to be reclaimed both for the sake of students and for the future of the republic. Now is the time for conservatives to go on offense and reclaim the institutions we once trusted to educate and empower future generations, let alone the survival of our civilization.

Dr. Pavlos Papadopoulos, assistant professor of humanities at Wyoming Catholic College, sits down with Kevin to discuss why American education systems are in such disarray and unresponsive to the needs of both parents and the country.

Pavlos explains the chief differences between a correct and deficient regime and identifies areas where conservatives are complacent when it comes to higher education.

Pavlos Papadopoulos Ph.D. is an assistant professor of humanities at Wyoming Catholic College where he specializes in philosophy, trivium, and the classics. Dr. Papadopoulos uses his expansive knowledge of early western philosophy in his analysis of current events and the direction America is heading.

Episode 33 | Rodney Scott28 Sep 202200:34:49

As the mayors of New York, DC, and Chicago are just beginning to learn, Biden’s open-borders agenda is putting Americans across this country at risk every day; turning every town into a border town.

The ongoing catastrophe at the border is far from being contained, and without strong, well-defined borders no nation can exist.

With 30 years of bipartisan experience, Rodney Scott shares insight on how Biden’s radical open-borders agenda is fueling our national opioid epidemic, putting more money in the hands of cartels and human traffickers, opening the border to terrorists and national security threats, and preventing ICE from deporting most of those here illegally — even convicted violent criminals and gang members.

Rodney Scott, a three-decade veteran and 24th Chief of the U.S. Border Patrol joins today’s episode of The Kevin Roberts Show. Serving as Border Patrol Chief under both the Trump and Biden administrations, Scott has keen insights on what policies succeed and fail at the southern border. Rodney is currently a Senior Distinguished Fellow for Border Security at the Texas Public Policy Foundation and has spent his career tirelessly fighting cartels and traffickers, and learning best practices for keeping our southern border secure.

BONUS | Kevin Roberts: What Time is it in America? It’s Time to Fight25 Sep 202200:23:41

In his remarks to the third National Conservatism Conference on September 12, 2022, Heritage President Dr. Kevin Roberts argues that Three mortal threats besiege the West:

• The Stalinist cult of Wokeism;

• The Chinese Communist Party’s genocidal regime in Beijing, and;

• The globalist, technocratic elite that profits off both by surveilling, de-platforming, and dehumanizing anyone who resists their pharisaic tyranny.

Kevin shares that his conservative worldview was forged in childhood; both his hometown of Lafayette, Louisiana, and his own family were besieged by the early signs of our nation’s social decay, why he volunteered for Pat Buchanan’s presidential campaign, and how ultimately, he forged a future in academia.

As the current President of the Heritage Foundation, Dr. Roberts closes with a question — a rallying cry: "What time is it in America? It’s time to fight, just like it’s always been."

Episode 31 | Yeonmi Park14 Sep 202200:17:51

What does freedom mean to you and what would you be willing to sacrifice to attain — or maintain — it?

For most in America, tyranny is a foreign concept that we study in textbooks, and maybe debate in the classroom. Having lived through the terrors of the North Korean regime and human trafficking, Yeonmi Park brings a haunting warning to Americans: there are parallels between the Left’s crackdown on self-expression and thought, and the brutal regime she risked her life to escape.

On today’s episode of The Kevin Roberts Show, Yeonmi Park shares what she has learned about, and her deep appreciation for freedom after enduring dire circumstances in her escape from North Korea.

Episode 23 | Delano Squires20 Jul 202200:43:31

If politics is upstream from culture, Americans need a serious reality check. Ruling elites have used the deterioration of civil society to consolidate their power in a doomed effort to push an unpopular agenda. That has to change.

Three generations of elites — from Washington to Hollywood — have promised young Americans that severing the natural connections between sex, marriage, commitment, kids, and parenthood would be “liberating.” It has been anything but. The fact is, there is a policy and a civic component to revitalizing our institutions, communities, and human connections.

Delano and Kevin discuss the implications –and viable solutions– of a failing education system, the attack on the nuclear family, and a society where dads are replaced with government.

Episode 13 | Mark Paoletta11 May 202200:39:24

The left is hell-bent on tearing down our institutions. Their current target? The Supreme Court.

Mark Paoletta is an attorney, author, and personal friend of Justice Clarence Thomas. Under President George H.W. Bush, he played a pivotal role in his confirmation.

Opening up on his personal relationship with Thomas, Paoletta offers a redeeming glimpse at a public servant the left has unceasingly attempted to vilify. We’ll discuss that, the exciting new book he’s co-authoring, “Created Equal,” and more on this week’s episode of The Kevin Roberts Show.

Episode 11 | Chris Rufo27 Apr 202200:43:03

This week, we’re talking about Critical Race Theory — one of the most dangerous, subversive, and sinister ideologies facing us that classifies Americans based on the color of their skin, and pits them against one another, casting citizens as either oppressor or oppressed.

Joining to dive deeper into this issue is Chris Rufo, an investigative reporter who has worked tirelessly to uncover how Critical Race Theory’s and woke ideology are creeping into education, the corporate world, and beyond.

Episode 10 | Valerie Huber20 Apr 202200:32:00

This week, we’re gonna pull back the curtain on the hypocrisy of the left’s so-called pro-woman agenda. In reality, it’s often pro-woman in name only. It’s a screen they hide behind to push a whole host of radical, far-left policies.

When you peel back the layers, you’ll find that those policies are often actually extremely harmful to women.

Joining the show to lay out policies that actually help and empower women is Valerie Huber, president and CEO of The Institute for Women’s Health.

Episode 9 | Terry Schilling13 Apr 202200:39:44

This week, we’re going to talk about a crisis that strikes at the heart of our country, our society, and ultimately, our families — the boy crisis.

An absence of fathers is a primary driver in this dilemma, one exacerbated by the left's push to dismantle the concept of family as we fundamentally understand it.

As we address this boy crisis, it becomes increasingly clear just how desperately our culture needs men — men guided by truth, who love their families, and take responsibility for bettering this country.

So how do we reclaim boys, men, and ultimately families as an institutional building block of society? We’re tackling just that with Terry Schilling.

Terry serves as president of the American Principles Project, an organization dedicated to making the family the most well-represented special interest group here in our nation’s capital. PLUS: Reactions to woke children’s books — books the left are employing in their attempt to radicalize your kids.

Episode 8 | Jonathan Sanford06 Apr 202200:36:40

Our public education system has been utterly captured by woke activists more interested in politics than knowledge. During the Covid pandemic, teachers’ unions, school boards, and education bureaucracies proved themselves openly hostile to the rights of parents and interests of students – and above any accountability to the taxpayers and families they serve.

Leftist educational officials advocate for rolling both radical gender ideology and critical race theory into curricula. Their goal is indoctrinating the coming generations of Americans.

Meanwhile, American universities have not only turned on our country’s history and ideals. They have turned on the traditional idea of education itself.

How? Why? And what can Americans do about it? We’re taking all of it on. We’ll hear from University of Dallas president Jonathan Sanford, and Heritage Action for America executive director Jessica Anderson.

Episode 7 | Erik Finman30 Mar 202200:42:21

Big Tech is bent on pushing a left-leaning agenda, inching us ever closer to a reality where those they disagree with — often conservatives — have their liberties hampered.

Their influence has spread to high echelons of government and continually deeper into our lives as our world becomes more and more integrated with the digital space.

As we’ve seen in the case of the Freedom Convoy truckers in Canada, something as simple as banking and purchasing power can be stripped away from citizens in this digital era.

Unfortunately, this problem isn’t bound to Canada, but has cropped up in the United States as well.

Joining us to confront the ugly reality of Big Tech’s ever tightening grip on our lives — on our speech, our politics, and even our commerce — and etch out how we can push back is Erik Finman, an entrepreneur who became a millionaire as a teenager building a multi-million dollar cryptocurrency company.

Episode 6 | Mike Pompeo23 Mar 202200:33:24

This week, we’re talking about all the trouble in the world and, in particular, the greatest source of it: the Chinese Communist Party.

Even in the midst of war in Europe, and inflation and border crises here at home, there is no topic more important to America’s national interests these days than China, and no one better to hear from than former CIA Director and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

PLUS: We'll hear from Heritage's own Brent Sadler — a Navy Veteran with more than 25 years of experience who served on the China Branch at the Pentagon.
