THE THREE KINDS OF IGNORANCE15 oct. 202600:26:26

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, we're exploring three different kinds of ignorance and how recognizing them in ourselves can help us to grow, take responsibility, and respond to others and life with more curiosity and compassion.

I talk about innocent ignorance, when we simply don’t know or don't yet know better; willful ignorance, when we avoid information that challenges us or makes us uncomfy; and belligerent ignorance, when we aggressively reject (like an asshole) what we could actually learn if we kept our hearts and minds open.

You’ll hear why staying open-minded matters and how practicing curiosity can help us to understand ourselves and each another in a deeper way.We can forgive ourselves and other clumsy humans when we make innocent mistakes...And we have to commit to taking action to shed our ignorance, and then doing a whole lot better, once we know better!

I KNOW A GUY08 oct. 202600:17:54

In this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about why trusted experts, hands-on experience, and human connection still matter in a digital age.

From your smarty-pants car guy - to that friend with a unique skill and "know how" that you admire...

The people around us are such a rich resource and can offer us the kind of lived wisdom that a quick internet search just can’t provide.

Consider this your encouragement to go old school and pick up the phone, reach out to connect and let's keep learning from one another!

While also keeping in mind to respect people’s time and expertise (especially if this is how they make their living) and to show your genuine gratitude for their willingness to help!

Blood Is Not Thicker Than Water01 oct. 202600:27:04

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about the old saying "blood is thicker than water," and why I don't buy it.

I've seen families use that old adage to try to control people and the narrative, keep those old secrets buried, and demand loyalty...

Even when those relationships have already caused real harm.

I discuss finding the "right distance" with family members, ranging from wicked close - all the way to no contact - and the grief and sadness that can come with that not easily made decision.

I also get into the right you have to tell your own story - even when other people might get their panties in a bunch about it. 😆

We also touch upon why you sometimes gotta' say no to signing the family "code of silence", and not be willing to protect the people who do harm - just because you're related.

Plus, I consider why sometimes maple syrup is thicker than blood - when it comes to finding your chosen family (aka: friends and sweeties).

Think of this sucker as a permission slip to go ahead and get curious about questioning it all! ❤️

LIVE YOUR FECKIN' LIFE24 sept. 202600:22:08

OK, so here's the thing.

Somewhere along the way we all got told to "document everything." (I’m looking at you Gary Vee )

Now it feels like we can't go to the grocery store, a concert, or our kid's soccer game without thinking, “How can I turn this into a post?”

The other day I left my phone at home (once on purpose, once by mistake).

At first I was like, "Oh no!" (mostly because I want to be able to call AAA if it’s necessary )

But then it turned into this little taste of freedom. Wheeeeeeeeeeee!

There were no pictures taken, no texts pinging, and no little red numbers glaring back at me.

It was just me, being right there - in the right now.

Because, once we start planning for how we'll share a moment later… we've already left it.

We're warp-speed time traveling into the future - instead of being there in the room having the full-fledged experience with our sweeties, our friends, our human or furry kids, and our people.

We end up missing the moments that make up our life.

I'm not saying that devices are evil. (Trust me, I love sharing a wicked cute picture of Toby Pajamas or Bunchie.)

This episode is just an invitation from my heart to yours to give it a try it for a few hours.

Or heck, even for a whole Sunday.

Put the phone down and just go live your feckin’ life.

Report back what it was like if you want to - you know I’m always curious to hear!

And wherever you do go, may you, your love, and your real in-person, real-time presence be a blessing.

ARE YOU AN ILLUMINATOR OR A DIMINISHER?17 sept. 202600:47:22

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about the difference between being an Illuminator and a Diminisher.

And why some people can make you feel seen, lit up, and welcome, while others can make you feel kinda' invisible.

I tell a story about some recent experiences of being in rooms with people I've known my whole life who never asked me a single question about myself. (WTF is up with that? 😆)

And how familiarity can breed contempt when folks decide who you are, stick you in a box, and never update their perspectives or systems.

I also talk about David Brooks' wonderful book How to Know a Person: The Art of Seeing Others Deeply and Being Deeply Seen.

We explore the qualities that he says keep Diminishers from truly seeing us (egotism, anxiety, naive realism, stereotyping, the static mindset)...

And the qualities that make Illuminators so magnetic - their tenderness, receptivity, active curiosity, affection, generosity, and a holistic attitude!

I also talk about the prayer of Saint Francis, my DSP (Daily Spiritual Practice), and why I think Mister Rogers and Ted Lasso are some go-to examples of being Illuminators who bring illumination! (David Brooks agrees 😉)

We’re also reminded of that line from A Course in Miracles that tells us: You are the light of the world! Double Amen Hands to that! 🙌

I believe that one of the greatest ways we show love is to pay attention - so my hope is that wherever you go - may your presence, your curiosity, and your illumination be a blessing! ❤️

STOP HALF-ASSING IT10 sept. 202600:28:14

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about why we need to stop half-assing our lives, work, the art we make, and our relationships!

Because of what it really says about our self-respect when we keep settling for “good enough.”

I share a real-life story about a worker with a kinda’ crappy attitude, who left streaky results, and showed practically zero care.

And how that kind of half-hearted effort slowly poisons your reputation, your relationships, and your ability to grow. (Forget about those referrals, kid)

So, if you’re tired of phoning it in (whatever “it” may be for you) and you’re ready to raise your standards...

Plus, you genuinely want to show up full-hearted, and put real love into what you do…

Then hit play on this sucker and let’s dive in together! ❤️

THE COURAGE TO BE LOVED03 sept. 202600:23:32

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about what it really means to have the courage to be loved.

By taking a look through the lens of the one-and-only Dolly Parton’s life, legacy, faith, humor, and big-hearted generosity.

I share how Dolly managed to be wicked authentic, outspoken, and spiritually grounded!

All while still being one of the most beloved humans on the planet (a recent poll out of UMass Lowell gave her an amazing net favorability rating of +65!).

I also explore the difference between trying to be “palatable” for "likes" versus being fully yourself and letting people love (or not) the real you.

If you’ve ever struggled with people-pleasing, fear of judgment, or holding back your true self in real life (or online), this episode is a loving invitation to flex your courage myuscles...

And to show up more honestly, to take a stand for what you believe in, and to allow yourself to be truly seen, known, and loved! ❤️

LIFE IS NOT THE INTERNET27 août 202600:29:14

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about how the internet has trained so many people to believe that every thought they have deserves a comment, their opinion, or a post...

And why that shit doesn’t really fly in real life.

I tell a couple of stories about unsolicited opinions (given both online and in person) and the emotional impact they can have on the receivers.

I also share how you can start using your voice more thoughtfully by revisiting the “three gates” of communication!

These questions are simple, yet powerful:

Is it true?

Is it kind?

Is it necessary?

And when put to good use, these suckers can save us all a lot of unnecessary suffering.

So, here's my invitation to you (and reminder to myself) to pause before you speak, type, send, or hit publish!

Together, let's explore turning off the “comment section” in certain conversations, standing up against cruelty, and choosing to use our words as a force for good, both on and off the internet. ❤️

STEVEN PRESSFIELD: ON RESISTANCE, SELF-DISCIPLINE, AND SELF-REINFORCEMENT20 août 202600:56:24

My guest today is legendary, bestselling author Steven Pressfield, who's known for his work on creativity, self-discipline, and how to overcome the inner force of what he calls, "capital R" - Resistance.

He’s written 25 books including the wildly popular - The War of Art, Turning Pro, Do The Work, and Put Your Ass Where Your Heart Wants to Be - which have influenced tons of successful writers, thinkers, artists and entrepreneurs - including Ryan Holiday and Rich Roll.

Steven wrote for 27 years before his first novel The Legend of Bagger Vance got published and made into a Robert Redford film starring Matt Damon and Will Smith. He’s also written a memoir Gov Cheese and many historical novels like, A Man at Arms, Gates of Fire, and his latest, The Arcadian!

I’ve been reading and recommending his work for years, so to have him on the show felt like such a full-circle, meant-to-be moment!

Here’s some of what Steven and I dive into in this episode:

Resistance (with a capital R):

That invisible, diabolical force that shows up every time you try to write the book, record the podcast, go to the gym, leave the job, or step toward your calling.

“Resistance will kill you”:

Steven shares why not following your creative or spiritual calling doesn’t just make you uncomfortable… it can slowly kill your spirit, your self‑trust, and your life-force.

Self‑Discipline & Ritual:

We talk about why discipline gets such a bad rap, how it actually becomes an act of self‑love, and what it looks like in real life to “put your ass where your heart wants to be.”

Art as a Spiritual Practice:

Steve and I dig into the idea that we’re spiritual beings in a messy, beautiful, often painful world – and how making art (in any form) is one of the most powerful ways we can respond to and answer that.

His new book, The Arcadian:

He shares the 40‑year journey behind this story, karma, warriors, and what it costs a soul to live a life of violence… and try to find redemption.

I also share a bit about my own writing journey with my memoir, and how bumping up against Resistance has pushed me deeper into my spiritual practice and creative life.

This episode is for you if:

📌 You’re a writer, artist, entrepreneur, or big-hearted human with a dream

📌 You keep saying, “I’ll start tomorrow” (and tomorrow never quite seems to come)

📌 You feel called to something more, but resistance, fear, and self‑doubt keep tripping you up

If that’s you, I think this conversation will feel like both a loving hug and a gentle kick in the pants. ❤️

SPIRITUAL ROAD MAPS13 août 202600:29:05

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about what I call spiritual roadmaps - thoseinner "TripTiks" that help us to move from where we are -to- where we really want to be.

I share a story about driving cross-country with one of those old-school, highlighted, AAA paper maps and how that kind of customized route is wicked similar to spiritual mentoring, coaching, and doing your own inner work.

We dive into why reading more books, listening to another podcast, and buying another course (aka: just gathering more information) isn’t enough to create change - especially if you're not willing to apply what you’ve learned!

I also share why no mentor, coach, therapist, or partner can “drive the feckin’ car” for you.

I mention A Course in Miracles, nervous system resilience, and personal responsibility - plus, why you’ve got to want the change more than anyone else in the room!

If you’re tired of feeling stuck over there on “Suffer Island”...

And you find yourself always saying you want change, but then avoid doing what you need to do to change, then this episode is a loving nudge just for you! ❤️

COME TO YOUR OWN CONCLUSIONS06 août 202600:20:52

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about why it’s so important to come to your own conclusions - instead of blindly believing what the so-called social media influencers, armchair experts, critics, or even your loved ones say.

I share a fun story about going to see Christopher Nolan’s new movie The Odyssey, and how the internet lost its mind with opinions about it.

From there, I dive into the dangers of online influencers running rackets (like the “trad wife movement”), the sneaky ways people profit off of your self-doubt, and how easy it is to give your power away when you don’t slow down and think for yourself.

We get into:

📌 Why other people’s opinions are not your truth

📌 How to gather your own evidence and trust your inner teacher

📌 The role of bias, comfort, and “gut instinct” in your decisions

📌 Why it’s OK (and smart!) to change your mind as you learn and grow

📌 How to stop blindly following the masses (especially when the “M” is silent)

If you’ve been getting sucked into other people’s stories, social media “trends”, or influencer nonsense, this episode is your loving reminder to pump the brakes, think critically, and reclaim your own authority in your life. ❤️

EXPANDING THE TOOLS IN YOUR TOOLKIT30 juil. 202600:30:28

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about what happens when we walk through life with only one “tool”.

Which is usually our default reactions like - anger, shutting down, the silent treatment, judgment, or trying to fix everyone but our damn selves – and how that keeps our world and our relationships wicked small.

I tell a story about my love for Swiss Army knives and Leatherman tools when I was a kid and use them as a metaphor for expanding your emotional and spiritual toolkit - now that we're grown-ass adults. 😆

We dive into why curiosity is such a powerful tool, how our old patterns can limit our ability to respond wisely, and I share some simple practices that you can start using when you feel anxious, activated, or in conflict.

You’ll also learn:

📌 How “if all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail” shows up in your life

📌 Why a lack of curiosity can damage relationships and keep you stuck

📌 New emotional and spiritual “tools” you can add to your inner toolkit

📌 Practical ideas for communicating better and regulating your nervous system

If you’re ready to move through the world with more calm, clarity, compassion, and choice, then this episode is gonna' be right up your alley!

I also tell a story about a middle-of-the-night moment where I woke up heard myself say, “I’ve got you,” several times and how that sparked a deeper conversation about exiles, protectors (managers + firefighters), and our capital-S Self!

I share a little bit about the 8 C’s of Self and Self-Leadership (like curiosity, compassion, confidence, and calm) and why naming and befriending your parts can be fun and healing!

Plus, I give you a couple of simple ways to start reassuring your nervous system... from bedtime rituals to inner-child check-ins, so you can move through the world with more self-awareness, tenderness, and love.

THE CONVEYOR BELT16 juil. 202600:42:16

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about what I call “the conveyor belt” in our relationships.

That sneaky belief that we’re somehow more evolved, more spiritual, or doing “more work” on ourselves than our partner or the people around us.

I get into how, if we're not careful, this mindset can create hierarchies of “specialness”, insidiously erode connection, and block the love from flowing between you.

So, instead of weaponizing our personal growth or psychoanalyzing our sweeties...

How about we keep the focus on dealing with our “own blind spots to our own bullshit”. 😆

I don’t know about you, but most people don't feel inspired to change or grow through shame or blame or judgement.

Especially if you're coming at them with some kind of secret agenda, covert / overt manipulation, or these unspoken expectations.

(People can feel the contempt that’s coming their way.) 🫤

A more productive approach might be to try leading by example, extending grace, and giving the people we love some space to grow at their own pace.

THE MISSING PIECES09 juil. 202600:32:20

In this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about the "missing pieces" in our lives.

Not just the painful things that happened to us, but also the love, protection, witnessing, or tenderness that we didn’t get, but should have.

We get into how that silent absence of what was missing, can become its own kind of not often talked about trauma.

I share about a recent death in the family and why I’m sad about and grieving a person I never met or got the chance to know.

I also connect how that ties into both what I call the “never life" - which is the life that didn’t happen and now (for whatever reason) can’t happen...

And, the lonely grief of what Cheryl Strayed calls the "sister life" - that life you only got to live in your dreams and imagination.

We explore childhood neglect, the trauma of omission, and revisit Linda Thai’s powerful teaching that, “Trauma isn’t just what happened, it’s what didn’t happen that should have happened.”

I also walk through how I often work with my own missing pieces:

1) Sitting with my feelings (instead of abandoning myself).

2) Being gentle and merciful with younger parts of me.

3) Making my way in the direction of acceptance.

4) Eventually asking, “Now what?”- so I can start leaning back toward the light and new dreams.

If you’ve ever felt sad about the family you didn’t have, the love you didn’t receive, or that version of your life that never got its time in the sun, then this one’s for you.

BABY BIRDING OURSELVES02 juil. 202600:36:26

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about what it really means to “hold on loosely, but don’t let go” - not just in our relationships with others, but in how we treat ourselves.

I share stories about a band, baby birds and bugs, a fantastic new book, and my own body - to explore why over-controlling, pushing too hard, and demanding “magic fixes” can actually slow down our healing.

We dive into giving ourselves more space, time, and compassion - partly inspired by real life stories and experiences and also by Dr. Sula Windgassen’s new book: It’s All In Your Body…

So that we can baby-bird ourselves with more gentleness, care, and trust in our own natural capacity to heal.

WORRY A LITTLE BIT25 juin 202600:09:10

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about what it really means to “worry a little bit” - especially about the people in your life who always look like they’ve got their shit together.

I tell a personal story about being considered the “strong one” and why those folks often don’t get checked on.

I also share why asking a simple, “Hey, how are YOU doing?” - can actually mean the world.

This is a little loving nudge from my heart to yours to reach out, be curious, and check on your strong people…

Because even the helpers - need a little help sometimes.

6 THINGS MY THERAPIST TAUGHT ME18 juin 202600:39:04

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about 6 powerful things that my therapist, Daphne Rose Kingma, taught me back when I was in my 20’s and living in California - that totally changed how I relate to myself and other people.

I share the story of finding an old journal from my early yoga teacher training days and the little “love note” cards Daphne wrote for me that have stayed with me for nearly 30 years.

We dive into learning how to:

• Ask for what you need

• Notice what you’re not asking for

• Receive love and compliments without deflecting

• Honor rest

• Give yourself as much as you give others

• Have real compassion for the younger parts of you who had to grow up too fast.

If you’ve ever put yourself last, are an over-giver, or have struggled to feel worthy of love and your needs, then this one’s for you! ❤️

HOW TO STOP ABANDONING YOURSELF11 juin 202600:31:46

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about how to stop abandoning yourself.

Self abandonment shows up in lots of ways, like:

When you say yes when you mean no (like going out even though you're exhausted), or by people-pleasing, joy sucking perfectionism, and always putting yourself last.

If you’re ready to build better boundaries, deepen self-trust, and practice more self-compassion, then this episode of The Karen Kenney Show is for you. ❤️

BREAKING YOUR WORD04 juin 202600:40:50

I recently overheard a conversation (yeah, there’s no denying it - writers are serial eavesdroppers) - where someone was struggling with a previous verbal commitment they had made.

They'd given their word to someone about something… but then the facts and situation changed, and they were grappling with what to do.

I’m paraphrasing - but they said something like, “I gave my word, but now that relationship and person are really different.”

From what I could grasp, they felt as if they’d kind of been bamboozled.

And since they were a “person of their word” - cue the psychological turmoil and suffering.

I could practically feel the mental wringing of their hands in my own body.

Look, I really do my best not to offer unsolicited advice or coaching to total strangers - so I kept my big mouth shut - but I still thought it was worth talking about with you! 😆

So, on this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I’m getting into what it really means to give your word, keep your word, and when you absolutely have to 👉 how to break your word.

I share some personal stories from my own life, touch on how repeated broken promises can mess with our nervous system and sense of safety, and why reliability and integrity matter so damn much to us.

We’ll also dive into the tricky territory of when breaking your word might just be the most honest, self-loving, and spiritually aligned thing you can do…

Especially if you find yourself in a harmful or abusive situation.

We’ll walk through how you can do it with as much responsibility, compassion, and integrity as possible.

That way, if or when it’s ever necessary, you can do the most ethical and self-respecting thing - without being a total dick or abandoning what really matters.

If you’ve ever wrestled with a commitment that no longer feels right - but you’re wicked scared of being seen as “bad,” “selfish,” or “unreliable” - this one’s for you. ❤️

GRATITUDE SALAD28 mai 202600:24:08

Do you ever just catch yourself feeling a little extra cranky, nitpicky, or just sort of over it… even though nothing is technically wrong?

Yeah, me too. 🙋🏼‍♀️

It occurred to me the other day (as I was falling asleep) that maybe I could use a little "attitude adjustment". 😳

And I'm pretty sure that that’s exactly what sparked this week’s episode of The Karen Kenney Show where I share a simple practice that came to me in the middle of the night:

The little "librarians" in my head call this sucker a “Gratitude Salad.” 🥗 😆

OK, so instead of doing the same ol' same ol' and just kinda' going-through-the-motions gratitude list...

I'm gonna' walk you through how to build a more alive and specific practice by adding different “ingredients” like:

- A person you’re grateful for (and why – with details)

- An animal – past or present – that lights up your heart

- A place that holds a special memory or turning point for you

- A thing that carries real meaning or has brought comfort in your life

- A feeling you love to experience and want to welcome in more

In this episode, I also talk about:

- Why our brains are wired with a negativity bias and how to gently interrupt it when it starts working overtime!

- How a fresh take on gratitude can help when you’re feeling fried, discouraged, or overwhelmed by our crazy-ass world

- A sweet story about Stephen Colbert and laugh lines that has stayed with me

- Simple ways to actually feel the gratitude in your body - instead of just thinking about it in your head

If you’ve been feeling a little whiny, worn thin, or just not yourself lately, I made this one with you (and me) in mind. ❤️

Making a Positive Contribution (Even When It Feels Tiny)21 mai 202600:28:14

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about what it really means to make a positive contribution in your life - especially when you’re feeling stuck, scared, or like you’re falling behind.

I share a little bit about working on my memoir and why author Ryan Holiday says that chasing word or page counts can backfire, and how shifting to small, doable daily actions can change everything.

We revisit Kaizen (continuous improvement through tiny steps), and I show you how to apply the concept in your writing, money, fitness, relationships, and spiritual practice. It can help even when you only have 5 or 10 minutes!

I also pull in some wisdom from the Bhagavad Gita, A Course in Miracles, and some of my favorite teachers to remind you that no sincere effort is ever wasted!

If you’re tired of your own (or others) “all-or-nothing” thinking and want a more compassionate, sustainable way to grow…

Then this episode will help you start making positive contributions today, from exactly where you are and with exactly what you’ve got to give. ❤️

THE IMPORTANCE OF SHOWING UP14 mai 202600:26:54

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about why simply showing up for the people you love - matters more than you might think.

I share the story of my first-ever art exhibition (eeeek!), the friends who showed up to surprise me there (“We got you, Motherfucker!” 😆), and how that moment healed an old part of me that had gotten used to “going it alone.”

We dive into what I call your “Balcony People” - the ones who are up in the stands creating a rumpus and cheering their faces off for you - and why their presence (or absence) can leave such a mark.

I also get honest about hyper-independence, not wanting to ever feel like a burden, and how I’m still learning how to let love in.

If you’ve ever wondered, “Does it really matter if I go to the thing?”

This episode is my heartfelt reminder: Heck Yeah, it does!!!!

Your presence, your effort, your curiosity, and even your follow-up text can mean way more than you know. ❤️

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SYMPATHY, EMPATHY, AND COMPASSION07 mai 202600:40:16

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about the powerful difference between sympathy, empathy, and compassion and why it matters in how we move through the world.

I share a personal story about my mixed media art piece that I created for “The Mothership” Exhibition - in honor of my mother on the 45th anniversary of her murder - and how watching strangers interact with my work revealed, in real time, the shift from sympathy to empathy and beyond.

We explore:

- How sympathy creates distance

- How empathy helps us feel ‘with’ someone

- How compassion asks, “How can I help?” and moves us to act

I also offer a few simple ways you can start building your own compassion muscle - for others, yourself, animals, and for all the beings that may be suffering in this wild world we’re all sharing.

SAYING YES BEFORE YOU'RE READY30 avr. 202600:41:28

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about what it really looks like to say yes before you’re ready… even when your nervous system is wanting to hold out for certainty.

I share the wild, kismet kind of story of how I unexpectedly ended up invited into my very first art show, “The Mothership,” and why I said yes - even though I had no piece made, no plan in place, and a whole lot of self-doubt.

I walk you through the magic of following the red threads of connection, trusting your Spiritual Team on the Job (STOTJ), and letting ideas rise up from that quiet, liminal space between sleeping and waking… dreaming and doing.

I also share how Bob Ross has been my gentle creative companion in this whole process -and- read you some of his simple but powerful wisdom that’s been helping me calm the inner critic and keep on creating.

If you’ve been feeling the nudge to write, make art, start something new, or stretch outside your comfort zone…

But you’ve been waiting to feel “ready”- then this one’s a little encouraging love letter from my creative heart to yours. ❤️

EVEN WHEN YOU DON'T FEEL LIKE IT23 avr. 202600:27:24

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about what it really looks like to show up for yourself and others even when you don’t feel like it.

I share how a “meh” start to my morning turned into both a strength training workout and a new podcast episode!

It was also a reminder of the exponential impact and importance of keeping our word to ourselves and how that decision builds self-trust, self-discipline, and an identity of being “the kind of person who” follows through.

If we can create some consistency and build some momentum - especially on the days when we’d rather be whiny, make excuses, or bail…

It will not only empower and encourage us to keep going - it will also improve our personal and professional relationship with others!

FINDING THE NEW RIGHT DISTANCE16 avr. 202600:24:08

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about what it means to find the new "right distance" in our relationships.

Whether that's choosing to be wicked close to some people - while having to keep a few other humans a little bit at arm’s length.

The thing is, sometimes being all up close and cozy is where it's at - and sometimes what we need to do consider is if it makes more sense to go "no contact" for a while.

I share why communication breakdowns, unacknowledged feelings, and old trauma patterns can make us rethink how close we can safely be with certain people, including our own family.

I also dive into setting boundaries without being reactive, how we can give ourselves space for clarity to come through, and the willingness to stay open (if that’s truly right for you) for the possibility of reconciliation and repair.

While we often wish for there to be respectful communication and connection with those we care about - sometimes we have to simply walk away with love. ❤️

FIND OUT FOR YOURSELF09 avr. 202600:47:42

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about why it’s so important to stop believing everyone else’s opinions and to start finding out for yourself what rings true for you.

I share some wicked funny and surprising stories from a recent “experiment” I did selling my stuff online.

I dive into how these real-life encounters with total strangers reminded me that people are far more complex, interesting, and kind than the internet (and our assumptions) make them out to be!

I also invite you to get curious about some of the beliefs you’ve inherited - maybe from your family, our culture, and even the so-called online “experts”...

And to consider how your life might change in wonderful ways if you trusted your own discernment, direct experience, and big beautiful human heart a whole lot more. ❤️

YOU CAN'T GET THERE FROM HERE02 avr. 202600:33:36

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about why "you can’t get there from here."

Especially when "there" is a new way of thinking, being, and doing and “here” is you clinging to your same old stories, beliefs, and behaviors.

Telling a tale about a snowy dead-end street in my hometown, showing a fun stick-figure drawing that I did, and sharing some down-to-earth spiritual tools...

I dive into how taking tiny baby steps, developing some self-awareness, and committing to a simple Daily Spiritual Practice (DSP) can help you to finally let go of what’s familiar - so you can actually become the person you say you want to be!

THE POWER OF ENOUGH26 mars 202600:28:34

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about the power of enough - the radical, life-changing shift that happens when we stop chasing the elusive “more-more-more” and start recognizing and appreciating what we already have.

I share one of my favorite stories from Kurt Vonnegut about Joseph Heller, and how Heller’s one line, “I’ve got something he can never have… the knowledge that I’ve got enough,” has stayed with me for years!

We dive into a little wisdom from the Stoics, the yogic principle of Santosha (contentment), and discuss how our endless comparisons and cravings can leave us feeling spiritually and emotionally impoverished, even if we’ve got a bunch of buckaroonies $$$ in our bank account.

I also invite you to find your own “Goldilocks” level of enough-ess and to notice if a lack of gratitude might be keeping you unsatiated and unsatisfied.

I also share a simple 5-minute Gratitude Visualization practice to start shifting how you see yourself and your life. It’s amazing what a few “Thank you’s” can do!

If you’ve ever felt like who you are, what you have, or where you’re at is never quite enough…

This episode is an invitation to pause, to take some personal inventory, and to remember that you’re already way more “enough” than you’ve been led to believe. ❤️

YOUR OWN PERSONAL FIGHT CLUB19 mars 202600:31:10

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about what I’m calling "your own personal Fight Club" – that private, often silent battle that every single one of us is ducking, bobbing, and weaving and sometimes still getting knocked on our ass by.

I share a wicked familiar driving story (use your feckin' blinkah'!!! 😆) to show how easy it is to leap to judgment, and how I’ve trained my mind instead to pause, get curious, and remember that I have no idea what somebody else is going through.

I riff on that famous quote, “Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind,” - then trace that sucker back to its original source and break down what it really means in relation to our everyday, human lives.

I also explore why so many of us don’t like to talk about our struggles. Whether it's because of old family rules, shame, fear of being a burden, or not wanting to look “weak” – and how keeping quiet keeps us stuck in isolation, thinking we’re the only ones who don't have our shit together.

So, this episode is an invitation to “break the first rule of Fight Club” by talking about what’s really going on with someone safe – a trusted friend, therapist, coach, or community – so you can get support, hear a fresh perspective, and maybe even extend a little mercy for yourself and others.

If we can remember that everyone's in their own personal Fight Club, it gets a whole lot easier to lead with kindness, patience, and compassion, and to write a more loving story about ourselves and each other as we try to navigate this crazy world!

YOU CAN'T EXPLAIN YOURSELF TO EVERYBODY12 mars 202600:24:58

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about why you can't explain yourself to everybody all the time and how trying to do so, will just wear you the heck out!

I also share how the tendency to over explain is often rooted in a fear of being misunderstood, and yet our words often get filtered through other people’s history, trauma, beliefs, and stories long before they land anyway.

Which means that the "message sent is almost never the message received.”

We dive into why some of us became over-explainers and people pleasers in the first place -and I tell a few personal stories about choosing to do what I knew deep down inside was right for me - even though I couldn’t fully explain it to others - and I knew that those other people wouldn’t like it. 😳

We explore how some folks will insist on misunderstanding you - just so they can keep their old story about you alive - and why it’s not your job to keep defending or justifying yourself to them.

Instead, you get to practice using discernment to explain things when and if it truly matters and you feel like the person or the relationship are worth the time and energy to do so.

Otherwise, you just gotta' say, "Go ahead and judge me"… because they’re probably going to anyway! 😆

THE CONSEQUENCE OF BEING YOURSELF05 mars 202600:31:30

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about what it means to live with the consequences of being yourself… the good, the bad, and the kinda’ messy in-between.

I share how so much of my work with others and my life was/is about learning how to own our brilliance and our bullshit.

So, we take a look at how our past conditioning, familiar patterns, and played out stories often shape how we show up in the world - sometimes for the better and sometime for the so not soothing worse.

I also get into why a Daily Spiritual Practice (DSP) can be the difference between going out into the world inspired - versus - going out and inflicting yourself on other people.

Through real-life examples, I invite you to take an honest look at the wake you’re leaving behind you each day and ask, “Am I making a contribution to society right now, or am I being a bit of a menace?”

And if you don’t dig the answer, maybe this is your friendly invitation to start getting curious, be honest, and choose again.❤️

PREVENTING FUTURE REGRET26 févr. 202600:19:40

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about regret.

You know, the stuff we wish we hadn’t done, the chances we never took, and the future regret we can possibly prevent - if we’re willing to get honest and take some action.

I break down these three types of regret and share how a little self-awareness, self-forgiveness, and courage can help us make peace with the past and do better moving forward!

I also share how I’m using this in my own life as I write my book and invite you to look at what you don’t want to regret later on, too… whether it’s a relationship, a dream, a creative project, or how you’re showing up in the world.

My hope is that this episode will help you to start writing a kinder, truer, more beautiful chapter in your own life story - one conscious choice, one brave step, and one prevented regret at a time. ❤️

THE ART OF MANIFESTING with COLETTE BARON-REID19 févr. 202601:00:38

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk with author, spiritual intuitive, oracle expert, and artist Colette Baron-Reid about her new book - The Art of Manifesting: A Meditative Drawing Practice to Rewire Your Brain and Create Your Reality.

We discuss Colette’s AM Method (Art of Manifesting ) - which uses doodles, circles, lines, and gratitude bubbles - and how it brings together the power of neuroscience, spirituality, and creativity in a practical, grounded, and embodied way!

These are beginner friendly and simple practices that can also help you to regulate your nervous system, rewire your brain, and release anxiety. Yay!

Plus, they can open you up to synchronicity by teaching you a new way to co-create with the Universe and participate in a life that feels meaningful, aligned, and full of wonder!

We also unpack why some of the old-school ways that manifestation has been talked about and taught can feel suspiciously off, and how Colette’s approach offers a more intuitive, heart-centered, and playful path.

If you’ve ever felt skeptical about all this manifestation stuff, have struggled with anxiety, perfectionism, or just holding on a little too tight to the way you think things should look…

This episode will give you a new perspective on co-creation and introduce you to some wicked fun tools that you’ll be so excited to use! ❤️

COLETTE BARON-REID BIO:

Colette Baron-Reid is an internationally respected author of 8 books, an educator, a spiritual intuitive and medium, and an oracle expert.

She’s published 19 Oracle Decks that have sold over 2 million copies and her best-selling books and oracle cards are published worldwide in 27 languages.

She is the founder of Oracle School, a global online learning platform with students in 35 countries, where self-empowerment, co-creation, and ancient oracles meet in a modern, contemporary way.

Colette is also the creator of the energy psychology technique Invision - The Total Mindshift Process. She divides her time between Canada and the United States with her husband and three funny little Pomeranians.

THE COMMITMENT BUSINESS12 févr. 202600:32:43

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about what it really means to be “in the commitment business.”

I share some stories about yoga classes, Spiritual Mentoring, and my Sweetie’s life as a professional musician to illustrate the difference between being committed to the idea of change -vs- taking the gosh-dang consistent actions that actually create it!

We’ll look at human nature, the psychology of commitment, and how places like Planet Fitness - and personal items, like unused guitars, and dusty yoga mats - reveal what we’re committed to (or not). Ha!

I also invite you to take an honest look at your life and ask, “What am I committed to this year?”, so you can align your time, energy, and resources with what truly matters most.

You’ll hear one of my favorite quotes about commitment (it’s a good one!), learn why I always say, “The Universe can’t get behind wishy-washy”…

And we get to consider the magical notion that when we fully commit - Providence often opens unforeseen doors, and provides people, support, and opportunities that we never could have planned for or dreamed of. ❤️

BEWARE OF THE INFLUENCERS05 févr. 202600:25:24

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about how important it is to think for yourself - especially in the age of influencers, grifters, and bro-science “experts” - including those being revealed in the Epstein files.

I share a little modern-day PSA about being on the lookout for online scams, shady spiritual teachers, coaching programs with “culty” vibes, and podcasters who try to sell us an image, rather than the truth.

I add in a favorite Bruce Lee quote about how a “good teacher protects you from their own influence” and will do their best to keep pointing you back to your own Inner Teacher, intuition, discernment, and critical thinking!

You’ll hear why we’ve gotta’ trust our gut, notice the red flags, and stop giving our power away just because someone is good at marketing, has a wicked big platform, or has published a bestselling book.

My hope is that this episode encourages you to unfollow what feels off, ask better questions, and surround yourself with a few trusted people who will lovingly point out your blind spots

Most of all, I want you to remember that you already have an internal guidance system that’s pretty damn smart… and it’s OK - when we learn new information - to say, “I made a mistake. I was wrong,” then course-correct, and choose better for yourself going forward. ❤️

WHAT ARE YOU GONNA' DO ABOUT IT?29 janv. 202600:57:22

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about what it feels like to be alive in a world that seems like it’s on fire - the grief, fear, anger, overwhelm and helplessness so many people are carrying.

I connect the dots between abusive power and how those in power benefit from keeping us exhausted, distracted, and in despair.

I also remind us that “they’ve always killed the helpers” - from Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King Jr. to the modern-day helpers in the streets - and why that makes our presence and courage even more necessary, not less.

We talk about nervous system regulation, breathing practices, EFT / Tapping, “rest as resistance”, spiritual practices, and Stoic principles like focusing on what is and isn’t in our control.

I share practical tools for resourcing ourselves so we can be effective helpers instead of burned-out bystanders and I walk through simple ways to calm your body and mind - so you’re not operating from fear, but from a more grounded, loving, and powerful place.

I wrap things up by inviting you to honestly explore your role and capacity: Are you an ally, an advocate, or an activist? Are you a citizen, reformer, rebel, or change agent?

Mostly, I encourage you to ask yourself about your unique talents, experience, and gifts and how they might be used for good right now - “What can I actually do with who I am,, what I know, and what I have?”

Whether that’s speaking up, donating, organizing, making phone calls, creating art, caring for your neighbors, or quietly holding space.

At the heart of it all is a spiritual call: “Please use me. May I be in service to love.” ❤️

ACTIONS ARE THE VOICE OF THE HEART22 janv. 202600:26:10

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about how our actions are the true voice of our heart.

I share some real-life stories about human kindness, integrity, character, and choosing to do the right thing.

Like the stranger who owned up to dinging my car, and the “dressing room angel” who helped me get ready for a funeral during an extra hard week, and my old childhood friend who remembered me as the kid who always shared her snacks!

Together, we look at how our everyday actions reveal way more about the content of our character, than any fancy-schmancy spiritual talk ever could.

The big takeaway and reminder from this episode for me - is that we all have countless chances every day to “do the right thing, right now”.

So, I invite us all to listen to our Inner Teacher - that gentle voice of the heart - and let our behaviors and choices reflect who we truly are. ❤️

THE WALK FOR PEACE15 janv. 202600:45:26

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I share about what’s made the start of 2026 so emotionally rough for me - from personal grief and loss to witnessing yet another brutal act of violence in our country.

I also talk about the inspiring Buddhist monks who are walking 2,300 miles from Texas to D.C. with their dog, Aloka on their Walk for Peace.

I explore why their peaceful presence keeps moving me to tears, and how their embodied example of non-violence and resilience is giving so many of us hope.

If you’ve been feeling heartbroken, angry, or hopeless about the state of the world, this is an invitation to remember that every day we can choose to be a living, breathing, loving alternative to the cruelty and chaos around us.

My hope is that this episode helps you remember that you are the loving, peaceful presence you’re longing for - and that every moment you choose peace - you help create more peace in the world. ❤️

YOUR INNER GPS01 janv. 202600:29:54

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I’m talking about your “Inner GPS” - that practical, yet Divine guidance system inside of you that can help you find your way, especially when you’re feeling a little lost or if you’re unsure about where you’re headed in the new year.

I share a few personal stories, a couple of spiritual insights, and some simple daily practices to help us to better trust our intuition and to compassionately course-correct when we get off track

As we step into 2026, I encourage us to take some time to get clear on where we want to go, what we want to create, and to listen more deeply for your inner directions.

My hope is that we can all move through the world in such a way that wherever we go, we leave the people, animals, places, and planet better than how we found them. ❤️

WALK DOWN A DIFFERENT STREET25 déc. 202500:24:02

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about a little poem that packs a big spiritual punch, “Autobiography in Five Short Chapters” by Portia Nelson.

We discuss how the poem uses a simple but powerful analogy of “a sidewalk with a hole” and how it’s a brilliant mirror for our own repetitive patterns, habits, and choices that often keep us stuck.

I connect this to how A Course in Miracles talks about choosing between love and fear and how we often take “detours into fear"...

And why real spiritual progress isn’t about never visiting fear again, but about how quickly we recognize when we’ve left Love and then make a conscious choice to return to it.

I also reflect on why change can be so hard – we’re talking those old family patterns, the subconscious payoffs, and how we normalize our suffering. 🫣

This episode ultimately is an invitation to walk down a different street together in 2026 - one with more clarity, curiosity, compassion, and courage to create new ways of being. ❤️

SNEAK PEEKS INSIDE THIS EPISODE:

1. “Sometimes it takes us a while to recognize that there’s even a fucking hole.” - KK

2. “We’ve normalized feeling bad. We’ve normalized and familiarized our suffering, so we just kind of go like, ‘Oh, this is just how it is.’” - KK

3. “You might have to be the pattern breaker. You might have to be the spell breaker in your family.” - KK

4. “Some of us don’t know that there’s a different street. We only know that one street. We don’t even know that another street is available to us.” - KK

5. “If you can hear the sound of my voice, you now know about the hole. No more excuses.” - KK

6. “There’s power available to us in personal choice. There’s grace in this wisdom, and there is deep transformation in this self-development and spiritual work.” - KK

7. “Trials are but lessons we failed to learn, presented once again… and there’s a voice in you that says, ‘My brother, my sister, choose again.’” - KK

8. “You can choose to walk down a whole different street in 2026, and I would love to walk along beside you as you do it.” - KK

EVERYTHING OLD IS NEW AGAIN18 déc. 202500:44:34

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I talk about the idea that “Everything old is new again” and why that feels especially true for me as we head into 2026.

I share where this phrase originally comes from and how it still shows up all around us, from old-fashioned baby names and vinyl records - to the way trends, styles, and even problems seem to circle back to current times but with a fresh twist.

I explore how revisiting the past with new eyes, context, and appreciation can be such a powerful source of inspiration, creativity, and healing.

I also let you in on something new-old in my own life that I’m wicked excited about… I’m returning to having my own space again in Concord, New Hampshire! YAY!

After years of focusing more on Spiritual Mentoring and Integrative Coaching, I’m boomeranging back in an even bigger way to my longtime roots in Yoga and Thai Yoga bodywork / Assisted Stretching.

I talk about how good it feels to create a warm, welcoming space again and to reconnect with the practices that have sustained me for decades - only now with deeper awareness, devotion, and purpose.

From there, I dive into rituals, lineage, and devotion, (and share a story about my Nana) and how those old ways are a part of what I’m longing for more of now: slowness, intention, safety, and human connection - in a world that’s so busy-pants fast, digital, and often disconnected.

I name what I’m craving (and what I suspect a lot of us are craving) heading into the new year: small, cozy rooms, micro-communities, calm, authentic leadership, embodiment over performance, and spaces where people know your name. (NORM! 😆)

Finally, I talk about the return to analog, hands-on, in-person experiences and the stuff that connects us in a more human way - handwritten notes, handmade gifts, vinyl records, yoga assists, personalized sessions, intimate gatherings, and storytelling spaces.

I share some of what’s coming up in 2026: more in-person yoga, Thai Yoga bodywork in my new space, cozy community offerings like The Nest, Yoga by the Fire at Pembroke Pines Country Club, Live Music and Yoga with my sweetie – Chris Lester, and a collaborative, creative “analog” style workshop with my friend Emiline – aka: Emily Aborn! I can’t wait for that sucker!

My hope is that this episode inspires you to take a peek at your own life and ask: “What old thing is asking to be made new again - with more love, intention, and appreciation?” ❤️

TOP 10 ‘HEARTBEATS’ FROM THE SHOW:

1. Everything Old, Newly Appreciated

“The old is being made new again. And it’s not just being made new again, it’s being newly appreciated again.”

2. Returning to My Roots

“It feels so good to be returning to my roots and to these practices that sustained me, helped me heal, and that I now get to share with other people in a deeper way.”

3. Craving Cozy Rooms

“I don’t necessarily want to get in the big rooms anymore. I want the cozy rooms - the small, intimate spaces where you actually get to know each other’s names.”

4. The Power of Micro-Community

“The Nest is really a ‘micro-community’. We all know each other’s names and stories. People aren’t just faces on a screen – they’ve come to care about and love each other.”

5. Softer, Slower, Steadier, Sustainable

“I’m craving something totally different - softer, slower, steadier, more sustainable - instead of people rushing around, hustling, and performing all the time.”

6. Desperate for Human Connection

“In this age where everything is fast and digitized, I think people are desperate for human connection and for those small, intentional gatherings of humans.”

7. Nurtured and Nourished

“I think we’re wanting to feel more nurtured and nourished, instead of always feeling sold to, instead of feeling like we’re not good enough all the time.”

8. Embodied, Not Performative

“I don’t want performative spirituality. I want people who have read it, practiced it, lived it, taught it and now speak it - people who embody what they’re teaching.”

9. Analog Hearts in a Digital World

“I’m talking about going a little more analog – handwritten notes, handmade things, being in person, perfectly imperfect and human. That’s where the richness is.”

10. Your Own Old Made New

“Ask yourself: What ‘old’ thing in your life is asking to be made new again - with more love, intention, appreciation, and devotion?”

THE 60-DAY RESET WITH TESS MASTERS11 déc. 202501:36:44

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show podcast, I’m thrilled to welcome my wonderful friend Tess Masters - some of you might know her as The Blender Girl. Yay!

Tess brings such incredible honesty, joy, and wisdom to the table as we chat about what it really means to find your way with confidence, creativity, and a whole lot of heart.

Right from the start of our conversation, you’ll feel like you’re sitting with two old friends as we share laughs, real-life stories, and the big lessons we learned along the way.

Tess and I dive deep into the messy middle of overcoming that pesky self-doubt and why true confidence isn’t about having it all together.

We revisit some pivotal moments in Tess's journey - both the triumphs and the tough stuff -that helped her find her voice and turn her fear into fuel for growth.

As Tess says, “Courage isn't the absence of fear, it's acting in the presence of fear, and we build a different relationship with it.” 🙌

So, if you’ve ever wondered if you’re the only one who struggles sometimes, this episode is your reminder that you’re absolutely not alone!

We also get into Tess’s inspiring path to wellness, from her own health transformations to why she created Skinny60® and the 60-Day Reset.

Tess shares her flexible, fun, and no-one-size-fits-all approach to nourishing yourself in a way that actually works!

Her philosophy is filled with compassion and smarty-pants know-how, and it just might leave you feeling empowered and ready to try something new for yourself.

If you’re ready for a little spark of inspiration, a good laugh, and some practical ideas to make healthy living doable (and even enjoyable!), this conversation is for you!

Tune in and join us as we remind each other that progress, not perfection, is where the magic happens - one next, honest choice at a time! ❤️

MY TOP 10 FAVORITE QUOTES FROM THIS EPISODE:

1. On Courage + Fear:

“Courage isn’t the absence of fear, it’s acting in the presence of fear, and we build a different relationship with it. I am constantly in pursuit of refining my relationship with fear or self-doubt, and I certainly experience it on a daily basis.” – Tess Masters [0:09:15]

2. On Imposter Syndrome (and Being Human):

“If you’re thinking, ‘Gosh, she’s balls to the wall, she thinks she can do anything’… I’m often in a fetal position. I’m often meditating. I’m often going, ‘I’m a fraud, no one’s going to want to hear that from me.’ And then I pull out my bag of tools and I work through it, just like we all do.” – Tess Masters [0:09:40]

3. On a Pivotal Missed Opportunity:

“It was a very, very pivotal moment in my life, because it was an example of me choosing to be crippled by fear and running with the narrative of ‘I’m not enough,’ that I somehow have to be different to meet the moment.” – Tess Masters [0:11:32]

4. On Regret + Taking the Shot:

“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. I may not have gotten that role in that film, but now I’ll never know. I would rather regret what I did as opposed to what I didn’t do. So, I did things very differently after that.” – Tess Masters [0:12:35]

5. On Health, Dogma, and Flexibility:

“Health is not about dogma. It’s not about rigidity. The keys to health and happiness are about flexibility. You can be committed to your choices but flexible with your approach.” – Tess Masters [0:28:29]

6. On Finding Your Own "Perfect Blend":

“We blend different notes and flavors, philosophies, cultures, experiences, lessons, hobbies, relationships, to find our perfect blend for health and happiness - and that perfect blend changes. We’re not chasing static goals.” – Tess Masters [0:38:14]

7. On what Skinny60 + The 60-Day Reset really is:

“We’re wanting to really re-educate people on our relationship to ‘skinny’ and weight. We’re looking at your blood sugar, your sleep and energy, your bowel movements, inflammation markers, blood pressure, cholesterol, your mood, your hormones… Weight is only one measure of health, and I would argue the least reliable indicator.” – Tess Masters [1:00:53]

8. On who the 60-Day Reset is for (and what’s possible in 60 days):

“It’s people that just want to feel better… low energy, hormones all over the place, digestive issues, pre-diabetic or diabetic, high blood pressure and cholesterol -or- people who say, ‘I don’t really have any health issues, but I don’t want to get any.’ People are able to regulate their numbers in 60 days.” – Tess Masters [1:09:43]

9. On Why Most Women Are Stuck:

“Most women in particular are under-nourishing themselves. They’re actually not eating enough, and that gets in the way of better thyroid function and better metabolic function. You can’t maintain a healthy weight or lose weight when you’re not optimizing your body function.” – Tess Masters [1:17:41]

10. On Perfection, Progress, and Choice:

“In our community the mantra is good, better or best—not perfect. We’re not aiming for perfection; we’re just aiming to make the next choice. Every choice serves us. So just make a choice and then look at what you’re going to learn from it—and have fun.” – Tess Masters [1:25:16]

TAKE YOUR HABITS FOR A TEST DRIVE04 déc. 202500:24:48

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show podcast, I’m talking all about using December as a chance to take your habits for a “test drive” before the new year kicks in.

I share why December, even with all its holiday buzz and end-of-year busy, is actually the perfect time to slow down a bit, get quiet, and start making plans for who you want to be in the year ahead - without any of the ol' stressful, ego-driven pressure.

We all know what happens in what I like to call, “Jazzed-Up January”! 😆

Everyone’s fired up, the gyms are packed, resolutions are flying, and then… by February, it’s kinda' crickets, riiiiiight?

The problem isn’t your willpower; it’s that we’re trying to stack on big changes without first building them up in a real, honest way.

That’s why I suggest we use December as a kind of “practice run” for the habits and changes we actually want to keep doing once January rolls in.

It’s not just about working out though; maybe your thing is writing, music, gratitude, or anything else you want to make part of your daily life.

December gets to be your gentle test lab… a chance to notice where you get in your own way and work out the kinks without beating yourself up.

So, if something’s tugging at you for the new year - whether it’s getting healthier, being more creative, or simply being kinder to yourself - pick one habit and let’s start that sucker now!

Notice what trips you up, keep it real with yourself, and have a little compassion for when you “fall out of the pose”.

Remember, this is about laying the groundwork and building some momentum so we can glide into January already ahead of the game, feeling grounded, and ready to roll. ❤️

ADJUST YOUR SAILS20 nov. 202500:26:22

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I dive into the idea of “adjusting your sails”- a message that came to me one morning and has been bopping around in my mind ever since.

Sometimes, life throws us winds that we can’t control, but we always get to choose how we respond.

So, I talk about taking a pause and tuning in, and getting wicked intentional about the direction we're heading… especially as this year wraps up.

I invite us to look at different areas of our lives - whether it’s physical health, relationships, finances, or creativity - and asking ourselves: are my current choices pointing me in the direction I really want to go?

We discuss the little habits that can trip us up (like staying up too late or scrolling on your phone) and the importance of taking a “fearless moral inventory” of what’s really working, and what isn’t. 🫣

There’s also some truth-telling about the baggage we carry… the old stories, beliefs, and resentments that weigh us down and keep us stuck on shore, and definitely not catching the wind.

I share inspiration from my own spiritual teachers, reminding us that the “Winds of Grace” are always blowing…

But we need to patch up our sails, let go of what no longer serves us, and then raise those suckers if we want to move forward!

If you’re ready to stop waiting around for the “right time” and want to start making more thoughtful, aligned choices and changes now…

Then this episode is your little nudge from the universe (and me!) to take some action.

So, go grab some paper, and find a cozy spot, to create some space to both honestly reflect, and to dream.

Thanks so much for tuning in to the show and remember - the power to adjust your sails is always in your own hands. ❤️

WORLD KINDNESS DAY13 nov. 202500:24:38

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I’m diving into something near and dear to my heart - World Kindness Day!

Whether you’ve been with me since the beginning or you’re a brand new listener, I’m super excited to have you here as we discuss the power of spreading a little more love in the world.

I talk about the everyday ways we can all show kindness, from picking up trash in your neighborhood, to getting inspired by amazing role models like Mister Rogers and Bob Ross – who are members of my Spiritual Team and my personal heroes in kindness and compassion!

I share a sweet story about meeting a neighbor named Jessie and how she reminded me of the importance of not just “finding a kindness”, but “doing a kindness” and making it a part of our daily lives.

We also reminisce about “The Kindness Boomerang” video, which shows how one small, good deed can ripple out and inspire kindness in others.

It’s all about those moments and movements that remind us that we’re all connected and that every little action counts.

I also invite you to join me in the 31 Days of Kindness campaign I learned about – which is a free, easy, no-strings-attached way to spread some positivity.

Each day, you’ll get a little inspiration in your inbox along with a simple act of kindness to try – but only if it speaks to your heart.

It’s not about being perfect or keeping score, it’s about enjoying the chance to do a little more good -and- feel a whole lot better because of it!

Finally, I sprinkle in some cool science showing how kindness truly makes us healthier and happier – by boosting our mood, improving our well-being, and even helping us be kinder to ourselves.

So, if you want to join in or just take away a little nugget of inspiration, I hope this episode encourages you to be the reason someone smiles today (including yourself).

Let’s keep on lifting each other up and spreading the love - because the world could always use more kindness! ❤️

MIND YOUR BUSINESS06 nov. 202500:32:16

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I dive into the roots and real meaning behind the phrase - "Mind your business."

Most of us have heard it thrown around as a sassy comeback or a way to tell someone to butt out, but there’s way more to it than just that.

I got inspired to find out where those words originally came from and, being a bit of a curious word nerd, I couldn’t help but do a little research!

Turns out, the story loops us right back to good ol’ Benjamin Franklin and the first U.S. copper penny, called the 1787 Fugio cent also known as the “Franklin cent”.

So what’s up with this coin and how does it apply to us today?

On one side, you’ve got 13 rings representing the original colonies with the words “We Are One,” and the other side features a sundial, with the Latin “Fugio” on the side (which means “I fly”), and underneath is written, “MIND YOUR BUSINESS.”

Franklin wasn’t just talking business – as in making cold, hard cash - he was also reminding folks that time flies and we should put our energy into our own lives, work, and relationships, while making the most of the time we’ve been given.

I think this message still rings true today, especially in a world full of distractions.

I also break down Franklin’s 13 Virtues, which are basically his personal recipe for living a good and purposeful life.

From temperance to humility, these old-school precepts are surprisingly practical and applicable to life today - things like keeping focused, doing what matters, and being sincere and fair.

It’s not about capitalistic productivity and hustling for hustle’s sake, though; it’s about being intentional with your time, energy, and relationships so you can thrive, not just survive

At the heart of the episode, I reflect on how “minding your business” isn’t about shutting out the happenings of the world around you, but rather about cultivating awareness and remembering what really matters.

It’s about honoring your own journey, while still valuing unity and the well-being of the people around you.

If we can look after our own purpose with care, boundaries, and love -and- show up for each other as well… we’re using the wisdom from Franklin’s time to live better and more meaningful lives right now. ❤️

KK’S KEY TAKEAWAYS:

• "Mind your business" originally meant focusing on your own growth, responsibilities, and purpose rather than as a quick insult or sharp dismissal.

• Benjamin Franklin’s 1787 Fugio cent coin features the phrase as a reminder to use our time wisely and prioritize what matters in life.

• The 13 interlocking rings and “We Are One” on the coin emphasize unity and the strength found in community and collaboration.

• Franklin’s list of 13 virtues encourages personal responsibility, industriousness, moderation, sincerity, and humility - values that are still relevant today.

• Getting caught up in other people’s business or distractions only takes us away from our own goals and well-being.

• Mindfully attending to your day-to-day life helps you live with more intention, creativity, and satisfaction.

• Balancing personal focus with care for others leads to growth for both us and our communities.

• Making time for rest, boundaries, and self-reflection is just as important as hard work and productivity.
