Today on The Karen Kenney Show, I’m sharing a story about a recent FB comment I received about what I was charging for a drop-in class. I’ll discuss the small-mindedness, fear, and lack of understanding that often accompanies these kinds of random comments and criticisms and how it can sometimes behoove you to just STFU. We’ll also explore the importance of supporting fellow women in business and why it’s unfair for people to expect yoga teachers, etc. - to keep our prices the same over many years. I’ll also share the importance of a DSP (Daily Spiritual Practice) in helping people get their minds right and respond to situations with love instead of fear. KEY POINTS: • Masshole Attitude • Vikki with 2 K’s from Lawrence • Random FB Comment • You Don’t Know Me • STFU • Supporting Women in Business • Raising Our Prices • Importance of a DSP • The Nest - Group Mentoring Program

Today on The Karen Kenney Show, I’m sharing a couple of quotes that have been instrumental in helping me to not beat myself up about the past. We’ll explore how the mind loves to travel back in time to all the past places where you messed up or got it wrong. I’ll also share a different way of looking at things and a helpful approach to making peace with when we’ve been clumsy. Instead of dragging our past into our present (and ultimately our future) – we can chose a new way of being with ourselves and others! KEY POINTS: • Helpful Quotes • Travel Backwards in Time • The Clumsy Places • Finish Each Day • Powerful Pattern Interrupt • You Are Reborn • The Nest - Group Mentoring Program

| The Ones In The Arena | 11 Aug 2022 | 00:47:14 | |
You see it all the time; people who aren’t writing the books, or creating the art or baking the food or building the business, and yet they still have something to say about those who are. You find them sitting on the sidelines, on the bench, in the bleachers and in the backseat offering up their critiques without ever having stepped foot into the arena themselves. Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about the kinds of people that light me up to work with and who I also want to spend my time with both personally and professionally. These are the ones that are showing up and actively participating in their life and their business with their whole body, mind and soul in the game. If they get knocked down, they’re willing to get back up, to try new things or to seek help in both healing and growing themselves or growing their businesses. As a spiritual mentor, it gives me great joy to work with people who want to be more spiritually aligned, have more self knowledge, who no longer want to just sit and complain about things in their life, but instead are willing to actually do the work it takes to get better. That energy of being willing to get down to business is exciting to me. That’s what LIGHTS ME UP!! How about you? Are you one of the ones in the arena? KK's Takeaways:

| Ask For Support, Not Permission | 04 Aug 2022 | 00:48:51 | |
I’ve been wanting to talk about this concept about “asking for support, not permission” more in depth for a long time now. It’s come up again and again in conversations with other entrepreneurs and also on podcasts where I’ve been a guest. I’ve touched upon the subject, but this episode gives me a chance to dive in a little deeper.. If you’re an entrepreneur, business owner or you sell things (services, products, programs, etc) there comes a moment in the conversation with a potential client or customer about wanting to sign up to work together, join the program, buy the product and the inevitable question of “payment” or moving forward with making the investment? Today on the Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about the thing that sometimes happens when you talk with a person who already knows they want to work with you, they feel it in their gut that you’re the right mentor/coach/company/solution for them or their problem and they even say, “Yes! I want to do this or buy this thing or take that leap of faith...” BUT… And I’ve seen this time and time again, where the person will be 100% ready to go, they’re wicked excited to begin, they might even ask for the sign up link and then they say something like, “I just have to talk to my husband/wife/sweetie/partner first.” They move from their inner, intuitive knowing, where they were lit up and excited to go, grow, heal, and expand, into now having to talk to someone else before they invest in themselves, their calling or their business. This conversation can unfortunately be the place where dreams go to die. Because the partner might not be an entrepreneur or may not understand or believe in the importance of mentors/coaches, spiritual growth or investing in personal development. They might also not have the same dreams, vision or purpose as you do. They might not share the same money stories or they may be more risk averse than you are. This is where asking for support rather than permission comes into play. Now, I know that there’s lots of different financial situations and nuanced processes around decision making in relationships, especially when it comes to spending money. So this isn’t a judgment. This episode is an exploration about these kinds of conversations and hopefully a helpful way to approach them. It helps to know yourself, know what you want and need and to lead with love instead of fear, so you can find the courage to ask for support to back you up, rather than the permission to take the first step. | The Quest | 28 Jul 2022 | 00:42:17
If you’re on my email list, you saw that I recently sent one out that was titled, “Are You Willing to Enter The Cave?” It was all about a journey that started for me back when I was 17 and that intensified in my 20’s when I went on a couple of Spiritual Pilgrimages. It was on that particular trip to England & Ireland when I sat in Merlin’s Cave that I felt called to go on a “quest”. Most often when we think about going on a quest, we think of journeying to faraway places or discovering new lands! And those external adventures can also be incredible experiences for the one who has been called. However for me, “The Quest” although it has shown up in a multitude of ways at different points in my life, each one was ultimately pointing me to a journey inward. It was answering the call to know myself, so that I could build a solid foundation for both my personal and professional life. Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about my relationship with the word, Quest, where it originated from, how it's influenced me and my work, and the fun and powerful ways it’s continually shown up over the course of my personal and professional life. After listening to this episode, perhaps you’ll also feel called to answer the call of your heart, take that leap of faith and to join “The Quest”! KK's Takeaways:

| If Life Was Like A Buffet | 21 Jul 2022 | 00:36:07 | |
Have you ever felt like you’re taking on too much in your personal life or business? Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about our lives as they might compare to a buffet. You know the restaurant/cafeteria style of eating where we get to pick and choose how much we pile onto our plates? Not sure how it is for you, but sometimes in this kind of setting, our eyes end up being bigger than our stomachs and our plates become way too full to finish. The same can be seen in our daily lives; people calling on us for help, looking for support, a bunch of events and activities that we want to attend, filling up the schedule, booking up all of our time and we end up with too much on our symbolic “plates” of life. We fill our day to day with so much commitment that we leave no room for ourselves to just BE, often taking it to the point of burnout. We need to be more aware of our limits, what we say yes to, who’s been “picking” off our plates and when it’s time to back away from the buffet! Ha! What have you been putting on your plate that you could delegate or let go of? KK's Takeaways

| Let Them Underestimate You | 14 Jul 2022 | 00:45:30 | |
Have you ever felt underestimated by different people in your life? Sometimes, people are quick to underestimate us, particularly if we’re not the same as them or display characteristics or traits that differ from their own. But to that I say “let them underestimate you.” Use their disbelief to your advantage. The people who truly get you and value you won't be swayed by the ignorance of others - they'll see your genuine skills, truth and characteristics and appreciate them and even, admire you for them. Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about the secret superpowers that each of us have. A brilliance, a light and love that just because other people don't always see it, whether they're threatened by it, afraid of it, or don't want to acknowledge it out of fear, arrogance or fragility, doesn’t make your worth any less true. So if nobody else has told you today, just know that I’m over here celebrating you. Let them underestimate you, because I know and I hope you know, how powerful you are at the core of it all. | My Spiritual Team Ass Kickers | 07 Jul 2022 | 00:47:38
When it comes to my Spiritual Team (ST), I’m what you might call kind of a “mutt.” I draw upon a lot of Divine Helpers from different traditions and don't just stick to only one particular thing. My ST is a cast of characters that put me back in touch with who I really am, remind me of what I'm capable of, what my purpose is and to whom I belong. Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about the “ass kickers” that are on my Spiritual Team! We’re diving into why I think they're important, why I encourage people to have at least one on their team, and what the power and benefit of their presence can do for us. Now, not everybody is going to feel the same about having some on their team and that’s OK. This is where knowing yourself is wicked important because we’ll all be inspired by different people, means, tones of voice, and approaches. If you don't know what the heck I'm talking about, when I say “Spiritual Team”, then you’ve probably not downloaded my freebie gift to you. | Be, Do, Have | 30 Jun 2022 | 00:28:43
In this day and age of social media and the internet, a lot of people seem to have no respect for intellectual property. They will just take someone else’s words, content and or ideas and slap their name on a quote card and call it their own. They believe that if they alter it slightly, even just by one word and then attribute it to themselves, then they’re good to go. Sometimes they’ll even teach entire concepts word for word without ever giving attribution. In fact, there's a few successful people who’ve made a lot of money in the coaching and entrepreneurial world on the backs of people who came before them that they give no credit to. Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about having integrity and not plagiarizing someone else’s work. Or as I like to simply say… “Don’t steal sh*t!” It’s really not that complicated. Having the integrity to acknowledge your teachers or where you get information from doesn’t take anything away from your intelligence or reputation. In fact, it works in your favor and shows that you’re confident enough in your own wisdom and lived experience, to not be afraid to let people know about your mentors, teachers or other brilliant friends who you’ve learned from or are also doing great work in the world!

| You Create Your Own World | 23 Jun 2022 | 00:38:01 | |
There are times by simply being ourselves and making our own choices, we inspire or influence others in a positive way to look at themselves and what their path is. This happens especially if someone looks up to us, respects us or likes to learn from us. Occasionally, it can also have the opposite effect, and people will see or hear you and then subconsciously feel uncomfortable with what they themselves are doing, what they’re choosing or how they’re being. And, sometimes by just you being you, you being your creative self, or you living in the world as you are and as you feel called to do, other people are going to feel the need to say something about it. Here’s the thing, we don’t have to say (or believe) every damn thing that pops into our head. In fact, so much of what we think about how life or others should be is biased and unnecessary, but the ego tries to convince us that what we have to say is so special and important, that we feel the need to share all of it with the world wherever we go. Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about “creating our own world”. One where we get to do what we need to in order to feel healthy, happy and fulfilled, without feeling the need to inflict those preferences on others. This doesn’t mean that we don’t share about them, we just don’t need to insist that others follow suit. As Bob Ross so brilliantly said; “Just because I did one, doesn’t mean you have to.” We’re all here to find our own way and one person’s preferences, does not make another's wrong. We get to be different and that’s super-duper OK! KK's Takeaways: • Bob Ross Teaching (4:10) • You Don’t Have To Say Everything That Comes To Mind (11:14) • When I Stopped Drinking (17:28) • We Think The World Happens To Us (24:12) • We Make Sh*t Up In Our Heads (28:35) • Is It True, Kind & Necessary? | Adding A Little Light | 16 Jun 2022 | 00:51:46
It seems like so many people are feeling overwhelmed these days or have a kind of “sense of despair”. There's been so much senseless violence, loss and grief happening in the world and folks are just trying to work their way through it. Even in my own life, in the past six months, I've lost three of my Aunties, and three of my furry kids. Let me tell you, it has been a season. I also know people who’ve lost their homes or have been kicked out of their homes, and I’ve heard of others whose rents have doubled overnight. The stories are just heart-wrenching and it sometimes feels like the world has lost its ever-loving mind. The question that often comes up in my work with others is, “What can I, as one individual person, really do to make a difference?” To this I say, “While we can’t change the world, what we can do is change ourselves, our minds, our perspectives and choose how we respond to what is happening in the world.” Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about how much there’s going on in the world, and how that can leave people feeling hopeless or helpless, or like you’re being left in the dark without a clue on what to do. My goal for this episode is to share a few of the helpful tools that I’ve used when it comes to navigating through some of the “colossal shit shows” that seem to happen in our world. KK's Takeaways:

| Benefit of the Doubt | 25 Apr 2024 | 00:34:04 | |
I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase before, “Giving someone the benefit of the doubt.” The dictionary says, “the benefit of the doubt” is the state of accepting something or someone as honest or deserving of trust, even though there are doubts. Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about how we often think that giving the benefit of the doubt is a courtesy we’re extending to the other person. But sometimes, when we extend the benefit of the doubt, our mental, our physical, our emotional and our spiritual well-being also benefits from this too. Another way to say this is we get to choose to see through the eyes of love, rather than fear, which means we don't have to give too much credit to our ego’s first and loudest reactions. This doesn’t mean that we become doormats, give up our common sense, or stop listening to our Inner Voice or abandon our wise discernment. However, there is a benefit sometimes to not just running with that first fear reaction of the ego, and instead, learning to slow down and take your time, so that you can assess a situation from a place of love. KEY POINTS: • Definition of Benefit of the Doubt • Being Called an Idiot • Practicing in Relationships + in the Car • The Importance of Perspective • Getting Your Panties in a Bunch • Giving Bad Evidence + Proof • Be Kind, Be Kind, Be Kind Karen Kenney is a certified Spiritual Mentor, Hypnotist, Integrative Change Worker and a Life Coach. She’s known for her dynamic storytelling, her sense of humor, her Boston accent and her no-bullshit approach to Spirituality and transformational work. She’s been a yoga teacher for 22+ years, is a Certified Gateless Writing Instructor, and is also an author, speaker, retreat leader and the host of The Karen Kenney Show podcast. A curious human being, life-long learner and an entrepreneur for 20+ years, KK brings a down-to-earth perspective to applying spiritual principles and brain science that create powerful shifts in people’s lives and businesses. Karen wants her clients to have their own lived experience with spirituality and to not just “take her word for it”. She encourages people to deepen their connection to Self, Source and Spirit in down-to-earth, tangible, and actionable ways without losing sight of the magic. Her process, of transforming “Your Story To Your Glory” helps people to shift their minds from an old thought system of fear to one of Love - using compassion, un-shaming, laughter and humor. Her work is effective, efficient, and it’s also wicked fun! | Connecting The Dots | 02 Jun 2022 | 01:02:03
As a Spiritual Mentor, I often jokingly say that, “This being human is an ongoing problem.” Funny things about humans though, we often don’t make the connection between human problems and spiritual solutions. When we’re facing human sadness, fear, loneliness, grief, heartbreak, trauma, overwhelm, anxiety, disconnection, and the thousand and one other ways that humans can suffer and cause suffering… It doesn’t usually occur to many of us that our fecked’ up situations can’t be solved by the same ego-strategies and thought systems that got us into the fecked’ up mess in the first place. We somehow don’t connect the dots to finding strength, support, and solutions through spiritual work, tools and practices. In fact, if you had told the much younger version of myself that being willing to say a prayer would solve my human conflict, I’m not sure I would have believed you. Until one day 27+ years ago, I had an experience with my friend and mentor, Marianne Williamson that changed my life forever. Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about how we sometimes overlook Spiritual practices and mentoring as a solution because it either never occurred to us before, or we have these different ideas about what we think spiritual work is and how it may or may not help us when we’re suffering. However, as I often tell my clients and members, suffering is a wicked good teacher until you get a better one. Are you ready for a better one? | Get Your Hopes Up | 26 May 2022 | 00:39:26
At some point or another, we’ve all probably thought or even said the statement; “I'm not going to get my hopes up.” We did this because for some reason we thought it was better to not dream too big - rather than having our hopes dashed when things didn’t go our way. But words matter, and what we say to ourselves even in moments of “self-protection” can make a difference in the outcome of our daily lives. With a subconscious mind that is always listening to what we say and that some also say doesn’t know the difference between what's real and imagined, being intentional with our words is of the utmost importance. Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about getting our hopes not only up, but WAY UP!! And if things don’t go as we hoped, dreamed or planned, we can choose not to be or stay disappointed. If sh*t doesn't work out the way you wanted, we can learn to let go of the attachment and trust that something better is trying to come through or already on the way. | Be Mindful Of What You Plant | 19 May 2022 | 00:27:07
Did you know that from the third trimester, when we're still in our mom's belly until the time that we're about seven years old, we are deeply programmable, open to suggestions and often operating in the brain wave states most associated with being hypnotized? Like little sponges, we soak up everything we hear, see and experience in our environments, including scary situations or mean statements like, “You're stupid, you're never going to learn, you're never gonna amount to anything, you're too fat, you're too ugly” and so much more. All the stuff that people mindlessly don't think about when they're saying it around their children, or directly to them and sometimes the stuff they repeat even to themselves.. These statements then get absorbed, and we become conditioned and indoctrinated into these particular ways of seeing ourselves, the stories we tell and believe and ultimately shows up in who and how we are being. Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about being more mindful of what we allow ourselves to believe and what we’ll continue to allow in. When we're little kids, we’re not responsible for the things that were said to us or done to us. However, we are responsible for what we choose to do with or about those thoughts, meanings and beliefs now that we’re older. It’s our task to recognize that those stories are no longer serving us and are in fact, inhibiting us to the point that they have become harmful. Are you ready to rewrite your stories and transform your life? | Resisting A Rest | 12 May 2022 | 00:46:40
It can feel challenging sometimes, especially if you were raised as a “blue collar kid” to take time to rest even when it’s needed. But the push back against resting is really just an old pattern of societal pressure and subconscious programming, that we can not only let go of, but we can replace with a more helpful way of thinking. Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about how the brain loves to keep us “safe” by keeping us in what is familiar. When we start to move into areas that are outside of our known comfort zone, like slowing down and taking a break - our brain can go into the “Danger Will Robinson” panic mode. Knowing this, we sometimes need to give each other and ourselves a permission slip to let go and stop resisting the rest our body needs. Call it a sick day, a day of Sabbath or a sabbatical - sometimes it’s just what the doctor ordered. The truth is just because we could keep going and doing, doesn't mean we should. Just because we can, doesn't mean it makes a whole lot of sense to do it. As a Generator (in my Human Design) I can do a lot of things. But it doesn't mean that it’s what’s best for me, the other people, the program, the product, or the project I’m working on to do that. So, I’m going to let you in on a little secret; take it from a “blue collar kid” who was taught to bust her ass and knows how to work really hard… It’s okay to take a rest and doing so is not a weakness. Stop resisting a rest when you need it and you’ll probably find that you’re even more present, positive and productive in the end as a result. KK's Takeaways:

| Let's Talk About Drinking [REPLAY] | 05 May 2022 | 01:08:09 | |
In today’s episode of The Karen Kenney Show, we revisit a wicked honest episode that got a lot of feedback when I first released it! I heard from so many people who said they loved the show, that it really resonated and that it got them thinking and talking with their friends and family about their own personal drinking and our greater culture of drinking. I also heard from some folks that shared that the episode touched a nerve and I even got a few messages from people that after reading the title - admitted that they were afraid to listen to it and were purposefully choosing not to at that time. On this show, we talk about some of the reasons why people might drink, what the reactions and social consequences can be when you make a conscious choice to stop and how letting it go can allow us to step more fully into the true nature of ourselves. This isn’t an episode full of judgement. It’s simply a down-to-earth, look at my own origin story with alcohol, my thoughts about drinking now that I'm an adult and hopefully a fresh perspective that someone will find helpful, hopeful or supportive. | Word Of Mouth | 28 Apr 2022 | 00:44:52
Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about the power of “Word of Mouth” (WOM). WOM can be defined in a few different ways, but how it’s traditionally known is the passing of information from person to person using oral communication. This is simply where a person tells a story about either a real (or made-up) event to someone else. Word of mouth like storytelling has been around since the beginning of time. In many cultures, “the keepers of the stories” were revered for their gifts and for being the ones who held and shared the knowledge, anecdotes and history of the ancestors and the land. Without them, the clan had no past and with them came a vital sense of identity and belonging for the members of the group. Another facet of WOM I appreciate is spreading the good word about someone or something via referral - either by electronic, printed or verbal means. It’s like organic, spontaneous, heart directed marketing that inspires you to want to share your experience with others! I think it's wicked important that when we discover something we love, whether it's a product, a person, a place, or a program, that we use our own word of mouth power to help spread that love and show our support for both it and its creator. It matters because as you’ll learn from this episode what makes “Word of Mouth” so effective is that it all boils down to trust. Research has shown time and again that, “Consumers trust personal recommendations above all other sources of information in the buying process.” This same concept also extends to the people in our lives. The way we communicate with one another makes a difference. Through the power of our words, we have the ability to either tear them down or to lift them up, to “crucify” people or to “resurrect” them. So whether we write a testimonial, hit the “share button”, do a love shout out, make a referral or help someone see themselves as they really are, let's choose and use our words intentionally. May our own “word of mouth” communications be powerful, positive, impactful, genuine, generous, supportive, inspirational and trustworthy. | There's A Place In You | 21 Apr 2022 | 00:33:12
One of the things that we often do (and something I used to do all the time) - is we mistake our identity, who we think we are, how we see ourselves, and how we relate to the world with what's happened to us; with our origin stories. We confuse our identity with “our biography” - all those things that have happened to us, especially when we were younger. Sometimes we also even do it with our genetics, where we think because a certain trait runs in the family that they will automatically pass it down to us and we won’t be able to overcome it or survive it. Today on the Karen Kenney show we’re talking about the stories we write about ourselves that are almost never in our favor. Stories about the places, the circumstances, the environments, that we believe play a role or dictate what is or isn’t possible for us. We unfortunately often get attached to the identity of our “woundedness”. Using statements like, “I'm a mess, I'm broken, I'm wounded” - as ways to describe ourselves and the cause of what holds us back. What is wicked helpful to realize and understand is that although we’re having human experiences here, which means there’s probably going to be some bumps along the way - there’s also, as poet John O’Donohue talks about, “There is a place in you where you have never been wounded, where there's still a sureness in you, where there's a seamlessness in you, and where there is a confidence and tranquility in you.” There is a seamlessness, an unbroken and unwounded space where you remember the truth of yourself as an extension of the Divine and as one of God's kids. It is from this place that our real happiness, health, healing, wholeness, and “holiness” lives and loves. KK's Takeaways: • Write These Stories (5:15) • Often Mistake Ourselves (8:00) • Strength Of God Abides (11:13) • There Is A Place In The Soul (16:09) • Nothing Can Destroy The Real True You (20:56) • The Mind Goes Quiet (25:01) Karen Kenney is a certified Spiritual Mentor, writer, author, speaker, and the host of The Karen Kenney Show Podcast. | One Bad Apple | 14 Apr 2022 | 00:32:14
Back in the day, before there were refrigerators, people had to store their crop harvest together over periods of time in big batches. Something that they learned, sometimes the hard way, is that just one bad apple that’s really bruised, rotting or starting to go bad gives off a gas known as ethylene. This gas affects the other fruit close to it by speeding up the ripening process and if left unchecked can eventually spoil the entire bunch. You’ve probably also heard the term “one bad apple” used in regard to people, meaning “Well, it's just one bad apple, the whole group isn't rotten”. Others have used it to say, “One bad apple is an indicator that there's probably more just like it”. Meaning a singular bad apple can affect the bunch with their negative behavior, demeanor, beliefs or attitude, creating the same or similar negative qualities that can affect those around them. Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about how what we surround ourselves with and what we allow within our own mind, has influence, whether that be for the good or the bad. This means we need to hold some level of vigilance over who or what it is we allow to come into our thoughts and into our lives. This extends to include the old stories and beliefs we hold in our mind. Is what we’re telling ourselves helpful, healing, and loving - or - have those old subconscious stories become harmful and a hindrance to happy living? A good question to consider is… Is what we think and tell ourselves spilling out into the world around us to the point that we’ve become the bad apple? And if so, what am I going to do about it to pluck out that “moldy fruit?” KK's Takeaways: • Be Mindful (7:57) • I Was Going Through A Lot (14:36) • We Get A Say Now (22:55) • Plucking Out That Moldy Fruit (26:43) • Old Subconscious Programming (27:42) Karen Kenney is a certified Spiritual Mentor, Certified Hypnotist, writer, author, speaker, and the host of The Karen Kenney Show Podcast. | You Never Know | 07 Apr 2022 | 00:30:27
There’s so much pain, fear and worry in the world right now, but not everybody who’s suffering will outwardly show it. Many people give the appearance that they’re holding it together so well, that we wouldn’t ever know there was something big going on just below the surface. Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about checking in on the people we love and extending grace, compassion and kindness to the ones we don’t, because we may never know what they might be dealing with. | The Power of Hypnosis | 31 Mar 2022 | 01:16:28
When people hear the word Hypnosis, they often think about someone being made to run around on a stage clucking like a chicken, barking like a dog or doing something extremely embarrassing for the sake of entertainment. The truth about hypnosis and hypnotherapy when used in service for transformation and healing, is not even anything close to that. Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about hypnosis and how I recently became a Certified Hypnotist. You’ll hear how I’m wicked excited to be bringing brain science, subconscious reprogramming and Spiritual Mentoring together in my work, because it kinda’ feels like having a super power! Join me as we break down some of the myths and facts surrounding hypnosis and also talk about some of the most frequently asked questions that people have about this healing modality. We also dive into how hypnosis can be a transformational tool for someone who is ready to create deeper subconscious changes and more supportive beliefs. Keep in mind, when it comes to training the brain, creating new neural networks and shifting the mind from fear to Love (using both hypnosis & spiritual mentoring) - consistency and commitment are a crucial, non-negotiable key! If you want to use hypnosis to release old patterns of thinking, rewrite old stories, reprogram your subconscious mind and rewire your brain to create new empowering habits, then there’s just no half-assing it. Personally, I want to use hypnosis to “de-hypnotize” people, so that they can release and remove the old BS (beliefs, stories, blocks & bullshit) that they've been told or continue to tell about themselves. I want to help people create new positive ways of thinking and find freedom from unwanted behaviors (or whatever is holding them back), so they can transform from the inside out. I want to give them, through this offering of Spiritual Hypno-Mentoring, the opportunity to rewrite and rewire their brains with the glory of who they really are and are truly capable of being.. So you can transform Your Story to Your Glory! This work is a journey from fear back to Love and Hypnosis is another way for me to share and extend that Love to more people all over the world. | You're Not in Trouble | 18 Apr 2024 | 00:35:54
I bet most of us can agree that we don't like feeling like “we're the problem” or that we might be letting someone down. When we make plans to meet up, or attend something together with someone else, or as in my story today, plan an event and then... life unexpectedly happens, the situation changes, and we have to cancel on them. UGH! It can be such an uncomfortable feeling when those thoughts of, “Oh, I'm going to let this person down” start racing through our head and our nervous system sets off the old childhood danger alarms. Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about how it’s okay to not always get it 100% right. It is okay to have enough self-awareness to know when we’ve reached our limit and something, somewhere has to give. The truth is… You are allowed to change your mind. You are allowed to make mistakes. You are allowed to make choices that might disappoint other people. You will come out the other side okay and “YOU ARE NOT IN TROUBLE” when you do. KEY POINTS: • Disappointing Others + Managing Anxiety (04:52) • Recognizing + Managing Emotions (09:38) • Emotional Intelligence, Self-Awareness + Personal Growth (15:32) • Managing Emotions from Past Experiences (20:17) • Trauma, Emotional Healing + Self-Care (25:26) • Finding Inner Peace (30:32) Karen Kenney is a certified Spiritual Mentor, Hypnotist, Integrative Change Worker and a Life Coach. She works with people individually in her 1:1 program THE QUEST, and offers a collective learning experience via Group Coaching. She supports both the conscious and unconscious mind by combining practical Neuroscience, Subconscious Reprogramming, Integrative Hypnosis, and Spiritual Mentorship. These tools help clients regulate their nervous systems, remove blocks, rewrite stories, rewire beliefs, and reimagine what’s possible! Karen wants her clients to have their own lived experience with spirituality and to not just “take her word for it”. She encourages people to deepen their personal connection to Self, Source and Spirit in tangible, relatable, and actionable ways without losing sight of the magic. Her process called: “Your Story To Your Glory” helps people to shift from an old thought system of fear to one of Love - using compassion, un-shaming, laughter and humor, her work is effective, efficient, and it’s also wicked fun! KK’s been a student of A Course in Miracles for close to 30 years, has been vegan for over 20 years, and believes that a little kindness can go a long way and make a miraculous difference.
| Focus On What Matters | 24 Mar 2022 | 00:24:58 | |
I don't come from the school of thought that if you dress better; you do your job better. Not just in the sense of business but life in general. The clothes someone has on their back does not make or break the person they are inside or dictate whether or not we can rely on them. Today on The Karen Kenney Show, I’m talking about placing our focus beyond the physical and onto the things that truly matter. This episode is an invitation to take a look at the meaning we're assigning to things, the expectations we're placing on other people, and to visit our old outdated ways of thinking - and - to see them with the grace, love and tenderness that is necessary not only to heal, but change our way in which we approach the world. Together, let's return our attention to love and compassion. No longer getting hijacked by the ego with all its petty preferences, opinions, rules of how it thinks the world should be. Instead, I invite you to join me in the practice of keeping our focus on what really matters and help to make this world a more connected, loved filled, supportive community for us all to share. | The Tender Spots | 17 Mar 2022 | 00:42:03
When we become aware of a tender spot in another being, we need to keep in mind that if something is a tender spot, the appropriate response is to be tender. Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about tenderness and how growing up I sometimes found it hard to extend a lot of compassion, softness and mercy towards others, because I didn’t know how to offer it or allow it first within myself. The thing is, as a child I had the double whammy - I not only hated my tender spots (because they made me feel unsafe around other people), but I was also rewarded for my toughness. It was one of the ways I thought I received love, so why would I abandon that? It wasn’t until later on in my adult years that I realized this strategy wasn’t actually working. I wasn’t being helpful to anyone, least of all myself. Over time with a lot of personal & spiritual work, plus some self love - I’ve learned what it means to extend tenderness to myself, and also in turn use that same process to help others to heal themselves. We all need someone to be tender with us, because we all have tender spots that need a little extra care and gentleness. Are you ready to face and heal your Tender Spots? | Seeing Yourself Clearly | 10 Mar 2022 | 00:44:36
I sometimes wish that I could pull my eyeballs out of my head and pop them into another person, just so they can see themselves how I see them. So they could witness the Divine shine that I see when I look at them. It's like we walk around with blinders on to who we really are and miss our own brilliance. Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about seeing ourselves clearly. If our mind’s not in the right place, this isn’t something we can always do for ourselves… but, if we surround ourselves with a few good friends or people in a supportive community, or group we may belong to; they can reflect back to us the truth of who we are. They can remind us of our goodness, our wholeness, our creativity, our strength, and our Divinity. They can also speak to us in a loving, fair, kind, graceful, compassionate way when we aren't living in alignment with who we truly are. It’s my hope that if you don’t already have at least one friend or person in your life that recognizes the beauty, the power, the brilliance and blessing that you are to the world; that this episode will inspire you to find them. How we see ourselves matters and sometimes we need a little reminder of just how brilliant and beloved we are. We all have those moments when human challenges can seem all-consuming and we lose the clear picture of where we actually are, how far we’ve come and who it is that helped us get there. | Tell It Like It Is | 24 Feb 2022 | 00:51:52
Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about the concept of “telling it like it is”. I got to thinking about this because people often say that one of the reasons they like to work with me is that they view me as someone who “Tells It Like It Is”. While I understand what they mean, I think the more accurate description is that, “I tell it like I am.” It would behoove us all to remember that we don’t actually see everything how IT really is - but more so, we see it as WE are. That means our perceptions and interpretations are shaped not only by our brain, but also by our thoughts, our feelings, our previous experiences, our identity and our past history. This is why A Course in Miracles says, “Projection Makes Perception”. And if how we “see” the world is affected by our brains and our minds, then it’s wicked important which lens we’re looking through and which teacher we’re choosing to look at it with: Spirit/Love or Ego/Fear. When we look at the world via Ego/Fear, we must recognize that we may be choosing to see ourselves, another person, or our circumstance through an extremely limited point of view or distorted lens. It’s through a DSP (Daily Spiritual Practice) that we’re able to get in touch with the expansive part of our mind that is always in communion with the Divine. The part of our mind that repeatedly returns to the memory of Love/Source and has access to our Inner Teacher, Infinite Intelligence, and dwells in the space where limitless possibility lives. When we work on transforming who we are from the inside out, we shift the teacher we choose, the lens we use, and the way we see. Over time we learn to look for and “Teach Only Love”, for that is who we really are. KK's Takeaways: • I Was On TV (3:08) • Tell It Like It Is (8:26) • Looking At Outside Authority (14:08) • Projection Makes Perception (20:40) • Unique Perspective (26:29) • Eyes The Portal To The Brain (31:19) • This Is So Powerful (36:41) Karen Kenney is a Certified Spiritual Mentor, Certified Hypnotist, writer, author, speaker, and the host of The Karen Kenney Show Podcast. | Stop Apologizing For Crying | 17 Feb 2022 | 00:57:35
One of the things I’ve seen time and time and time again, and you can “Double Amen Hands” me if you have witnessed this yourself or have done this yourself, too - is that when somebody starts to cry in public or in front of others, almost always, there's a moment where they say, “I'm sorry.” When this happens (or when I’ve done it in the past) I often think to myself, what am I or what are they so sorry about and who the heck are we apologizing to? It's like we're a little embarrassed about crying in the company of other people and feel as though we need to apologize; as if to say “I'm so sorry that I'm inconveniencing you by being human and having emotions.” Why do we feel so weird or bad or embarrassed about crying? It's not like we're imposing on anybody. It's usually just a sign that we are moved, or that we are moving emotion and feelings in or through our body. Personally, I love being moved by something; whether it's a piece of music I'm listening to or something I'm reading, a movie I'm watching or a video that I see where somebody is being kind, reuniting or rescuing an animal. Of course, tears happen for a variety of reasons (and did you know that there are three kinds of tears?) but the one commonality they seem to share is that in our culture, crying is often seen as a weakness or something to hide or be ashamed of. So, today on The Karen Kenney show, I wanted to share this little love letter from my heart to yours just to say, it’s OK to cry and feel your feelings and to let the healing happen. And the next time we find ourselves welling up around others, maybe we can choose to stop apologizing for our tears. KK's Takeaways: • Truth With A Capital “T” (3:55) • Who Are We Apologizing To? | Be A Blessing | 10 Feb 2022 | 00:27:48
How we enter a place matters. The energy and vibe we bring also shows up in how we speak to and treat the people, animals and environment that we come into contact with. The same can be said for how we leave a place. We can choose to either leave a positive impact or a negative one. They both have a lasting effect and the decision is ours, as to which way we want to be known or remembered for. Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about consciously doing our best to leave the people, places, animals and the environment that we interact with, better than when and how we found them. Depending on how we choose to BE in the world, we can either inspire the people around us - or inflict ourselves on them instead. My hope for myself is that wherever I go, may I be a blessing. ❤️ What about you? Who and how do you want to BE in the world? If we're a person who walks around with a lot of internal anger, rage, shame, guilt, blame impatience, frustration, negativity or anything that we've come to believe about ourselves, when we get “squeezed” - what's going to come out of us, is any combination of those things. Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re taking a look at what happens when we feel the squeeze of life. When we end up in a pressure cooker kind of situation, what is it that will be released from within us? Will we respond with Love or some version of fear? Another way to look at it is, when the stress or pressure is on, who is it that we want to be? Without the willingness to take a closer look at our patterns and to step into the transformative inner work that we all need, our ego will have us believing we are only the issues, struggles and pain that are inside of us, rather than the Divine Love that we truly are. Wouldn't it be amazing if we could get to that place, where we no longer felt “squeezed” or if when we do feel squeezed, what comes out of us only is love? So my question to you is what comes out when you get squeezed? And if you’re willing to be honest and you find that you don't like what comes out, then you know, it's time to get down to business and do the work. KK's Takeaways • Life Long Learner (4:56) • They Make Me Feel (8:57) • If What You Believe (14:02) • Blaming Others (18:08) • Ego Layers (24:27) • Transformative Work (29:00) • What Comes Out? | You Are The Captain | 27 Jan 2022 | 00:27:33
It’s been said that in our lives, we are the captain of our own ships. This of course doesn’t mean that we always get to decide what happens in the world around us. Thing is, we’re often not in control of a bunch of what goes on “out there”. What we are in control of, is how we choose to respond to whatever the heck is happening. I call this being the captain of your “shift”. Taking responsibility for who we’re going to be and how we’re going to be in relation to what life is bringing to our door. Are we going to respond from fear? Or… are we going to have the miracle of shifting our mind to Love. I’m going to take it a step further and say that we're not only the captain of our ships and our ship… but we’re also the captains of our SH*T. Ha! We’re the captains of the sh*t we leave behind us, the sh*t we pulled in relationships, the sh*t we say and the sh*t we think. So it’s wicked important to be aware of how we’re showing up as the captain. Are we operating a steady ship? You know the kind that moves steadfastly through the water and does what it's meant to do? Or is our ship leaving a trail of sh*t everywhere it goes? Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about how we can give ourselves permission to not have to keep doing what it is we've been doing. We don't have to keep saying what we've been saying. We don't have to keep thinking what we’ve been thinking or believing what we’ve been believing. We can steer toward a better destination and outcome. And we absolutely don't have to stay stuck in the same generational patterns, that maybe our parents and their parents had previously. We CAN have the self recognition that we’re the captain of our ship, that we get to clean up any sh*t we’ve left behind and shift our direction, perspective and reactions at any time we want. KK's Takeaways: • We Are The Captains Of Our Ship (5:02) • We Can Change (10:26) • Daily Spiritual Practices Give You Internal Stability (14:39) • Doing The Work Is Not Easy (20:59) • Tune Into Your Spiritual Team (24:16) Karen Kenney is a certified Spiritual Mentor, writer, author, speaker, and the host of The Karen Kenney Show Podcast. | Hand Me Downs | 20 Jan 2022 | 00:35:05
If you're a kid that grew up in a family with an older sibling then you may be all too familiar with receiving the clothes they outgrew; aka their Hand-Me-Downs. In some cases, it didn't even matter if they were to your liking or still fashionable. All that mattered was; do these suckers fit? Sometimes families are just trying to be frugal. They need to recycle and why throw out something that can be reused, right? However, what I’ve discovered over the many years of doing this work as a Spiritual Mentor, is there are other kinds of not so helpful “hand-me-downs” from our childhood experiences that people still put on and wear. I’m not talking about clothes, but rather beliefs, stories and thought patterns that they picked up or that were passed down. Things that they’ve been indoctrinated with and programmed to believe, think and speak about themselves, others and the world. Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re taking a look at the way these different kinds of “hand-me-downs” can imprint onto each of us in our formative years. It's one thing to pass down used clothes, but we don't want to have other people's beliefs, biases, prejudices, trauma, lack, money stories and insecurities, etc. become something we wear or keep for the rest of our lives. Join me in creating the capacity to slow down and pause, so that we can learn to expand our consciousness, heighten our awareness, and notice our own blocks to Love, and the barriers we make to inner peace and happiness. KK's Key Takeaways: • Hand Me Downs (3:49) • Beggars Can’t Be Choosers (8:24) • Why Do I Have This Pattern? | Praise Up + Pull Down | 11 Apr 2024 | 00:44:53
I often say, “Humans love to put other people up on a pedestal of praise and then move them over to the cross of crucifixion when they see their humanity.” Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about how people like to build others up onto a pedestal of praise and then when they eventually discover that other person’s humanness, weaknesses or even failures - those same people love to yank that pedestal out from under them. It's like there’s this expectation that because someone is good at something, whether that be science, acting, sports, writing, business, or music - that they’re then automatically predisposed to be good at all things straight across the board. That they are never going to make a mistake or God forbid, show the unhealed version of themselves. In people’s worshipping of internet heroes, influencers and “gurus” - it’s easy to forget that they are human. They are not God or even otherworldly. In many ways, they’re no different than people without the big platforms. Like us, they have their own insecurities, character flaws and unhealed places that could also use some inner work. As human beings, we should do our best to praise one another, love one another, and build each other up... and I have no problem with this practice of helping, supporting, cheerleading and lifting someone up! However, it’s a totally different thing to put somebody up on a pedestal and then toss our common sense out the window - only to then be disappointed because we find out oh, yeah, they're human. The reality is if we keep building people up on these wicked high pedestals and holding them to these impossible standards; when they're that high, there's only one place to go, and that’s down. Key Points: • The Tendency to Idolize + Tear Down Famous People (03:28) • The Human Tendency to Praise + Criticize (08:59) • Meeting Stephen King (14:22) • Spirituality, Ego + Equality (19:01) • The Dangers of Idolizing “Gurus” (24:19) • Inner Wisdom + External Teachers (29:38) • The Importance of Lifting Others Up (35:54) • Self-Awareness + Ethical Behavior (40:26) Karen Kenney is a certified Spiritual Mentor, Hypnotist, Integrative Change Worker and a Life Coach. | Our Calculator & Our Compass | 13 Jan 2022 | 00:36:22
In our day-to-day life, we have both internal and external tools for figuring and feeling stuff out. If you need to know how much of a tip to leave when eating out, you can do some math in your head or you can do it on a calculator. The same is true when it comes to navigating and negotiating the affairs of the heart - the relationships we have with ourselves, with each other, the Divine and the world around us. Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about getting to know and when to use our inner calculator and inner compass, also known as the head and the heart, the intellect and the intuition. Decisions can be made from both places, and I think sometimes it behooves us to check in with the wisdom and guidance they each hold. When you have decisions to make or need guidance to create and choose - just know that you have incredible tools within you and available to you that require a little willingness, trust, faith and deep listening. It's simply a matter of making wise use of each of them where needed and not relying on only one of them all of the time. KK's Key Takeaways: • Where Is North (4:22) • Internal Compass (9:20) • Intellect Vs Intuition (14:40) • The North Star (18:46) • Compass & Calculator (23:09) • Sometimes People Are Too Busy (30:51) Karen Kenney is a certified Spiritual Mentor, writer, author, speaker, and the host of The Karen Kenney Show Podcast. | Let's Get Better with Walter Norton Jr. | 06 Jan 2022 | 01:56:55
I’m so jazzed to share this episode because I’m talking with a wicked old friend of mine; Walter Norton Jr - owner of the Institute of Performance & Fitness (IPF) which is a 10,000 sq. ft., state-of-the-art facility in North Reading, MA. I’ve known Walt for over 30 years having met back in college at Boston University. He's someone who I admire and respect, and one of the people in my life who inspires me to be better. Walter has been a leader in the fitness industry for over 25 years and can stake a claim to having trained the most athletes in New England over the past few decades. He essentially started the youth training industry 20+ years ago as co-founder and owner of Mike Boyle’s Strength & Conditioning (MBSC) - which became the largest and most well-known training facility in the U.S. In 2008, Walter left MBSC and he opened the Institute of Performance & Fitness (IPF) bringing his structured, consistent, straightforward, and high-octane coaching style to the middle school, high school, college and adult athletes and clients who train at IPF on a daily basis. He’s also worked with multiple professional sports teams including the Boston Celtics 2004-2008, including their 2008 Championship year, the Boston Bruins, the New England Revolution, and the Boston Breakers. He’s also trained the Boston University Men’s Ice Hockey Team and the Harvard University Women’s Ice Hockey Team. Walter has coached over 40 Olympic medalists across the 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010, and 2014 Games, has been a consultant for Nike, and he’s worked with a bunch of celebrities from movies, television, music, and media including: 10 different movies with Ben Affleck, Jen Garner, Ryan Seacrest, Ciara, Casey Affleck and Matt Damon. Today on the Karen Kenney show, we’re taking an up close and personal look at who Walter is and the incredible work he’s doing to help people improve their lives. When you ask Walt what he does, he’ll say, “I’m a coach, I work at a gym, we change behavior.” As you’ll soon see and hear he’s so much more than just a physical coach. He helps people grow personally, professionally, emotionally, mentally and I would add, in his own unique way, spiritually too. Once you listen to this conversation, you're going to see what I'm talking about. Walter is an incredible human being and extra bonus, you're also going to learn all about his amazing wife Liz Keady Norton, who is the Head Coach at Dartmouth Women's Hockey. Buckle up!! | Our Need For Mind Training | 30 Dec 2021 | 00:56:12
Recently I was watching a mini-series with actor, musician and now author, Will Smith and he was talking about the process of filming this documentary and writing his memoir. So as a creative person, I was doubly curious and fascinated. Something that Will’s father said on the show (you’ll have to listen to this episode to find out what it was) got me ruminating about what A Course in Miracles calls “our need for mind training”. Now, I’ve been a student and guide of A Course in Miracles for about 30 years and there are some lines that still just stop me right in my tracks, every time I read it. This is one of them: “An untrained mind can accomplish nothing”. This is so powerful because if we do not have the capacity to place our mind where we want it, which also means, if we can’t recognize that we’re having an insane ego thought, and if we can’t rein those suckers in, if we don’t have any kind of discipline or training of our mind, then we’re often going to find ourselves in positions where either we are suffering, or we are inflicting suffering on others. And if we’re not careful, we’ll end up creating chaos and leaving a path of emotional trauma or other kinds of destruction in our wake. Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about the importance of being able to observe our thoughts and feelings with, what I call, curiosity, instead of compulsion. Being able to slow down enough to contemplate, regulate and choose the quality of thoughts that will lead us to our desired outcome. So we can start to train our minds and discipline ourselves to understand that “even though I thought it”, doesn’t mean I have to react or do anything about it. I can pause, reflect and still choose differently, I could choose again, I could choose better, I could choose peace.

| Light Your Torch | 23 Dec 2021 | 00:36:41 | |
Have you ever had a conversation with certain people, whether it's over Zoom, or in real life where you walked away feeling lit up? I describe it as walking away feeling warmed by the fire of their love, their heart and their Spirit. Simply put, their energetic spark is contagious. This concept got me thinking; where does that spark in people come from? I believe it first comes from our connection to the Divine. Our ego would have us believe we’re separate from our Source, but I believe that we’re an extension of that Love and part of our purpose is to rediscover that spark of connection within each of us. I also believe that in addition to what’s innate in us, we also can also expand through incredible teachers and mentors, coaches or people in our lives, who work to fan that inner flame and guide us back to the truth of ourselves. However, in the end no matter how much we learn from those external beings, if we don’t act upon our knowledge, and put it into practice, there’s no point to any of it. Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about the Divine spark that lives in each of us and how it’s our “supreme purpose” in this human experience to discover it or reconnect with it! Sometimes on this journey, we think that we’ve somehow lost that spark or that we’re not worthy of that kind of unconditional loving connection. If you’ve been feeling that way, I hope this episode calls to your heart and encourages you to “light your torch”. | Time Traveling | 16 Dec 2021 | 00:33:44
I was recently invited to lead a workshop for an Online Summit talking about anxiety, along with five other women, who are all anxiety coaches. Anxiety is not necessarily my area of expertise, meaning I wouldn't hang a shingle saying I'm an anxiety expert or coach, but I do know quite a bit about it. During this summit, I was thinking about what actually causes people to start to feel anxious, unsettled, nervous, and really move into a state of fear; as opposed to being in their natural state, which is calm, peace, love, and happiness. The state that I believe we were created to be. Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about what it means to “leave our right mind” and time travel out of the present moment and into either the past or the “what if” possibility of the future. Whether we travel backward or project forward in time, the act of leaving our present day moment is where anxiety lives. It’s where we start to write and tell ourselves the stories that hold us hostage in an anxious state. The key here is to remember that our thoughts are just that; thoughts. They’re not real and it’s up to us to decide if we want to stay with those stories and plot lines of suffering, or if we want to use some spiritual tools to “stop it”, and return home to Love and to the present moment where the healing actually happens. KK's Key Takeaways: • We Often Talk About The Past (5:52) • Healing Takes Place Here & Now (11:01) • Bring Myself Back To The Present (16:01) • Detour Into Fear (20:56) • Choose Helpful Thoughts (25:31) • Mr. Rogers Neighborhood (29:21) Karen Kenney is a certified Spiritual Mentor, writer, author, speaker, and the host of The Karen Kenney Show Podcast. | From The Scar - Not The Wound | 09 Dec 2021 | 00:38:15
In a world full of social media and online platforms, where the opportunity to tell your “story” is not only everywhere, but it’s also encouraged, sometimes it ends up being told before the time is quite right. As a storyteller, I love to take experiences from my life that I can write and talk about. But I don't like to talk about things publicly until I've had some time to just be with what’s happened; to integrate it, to emotionally process, to spiritually practice and to finally perhaps come to discover some deeper meaning or understand some other things about it. Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about telling our story and teaching from the healed scar and not from the fresh wound. There’s so much yet to be learned from a “wound” and the learning process can take us through a wide range of emotions, revelations and insights. How we think and feel today, is not how we will necessarily think and feel about it down the road; even a day later. We must first understand it and ourselves, before we can pass on the benefits to anyone else. With a little (or a lot of time), if we allow room for the healing to happen, those wounds can turn into some incredibly helpful wisdom we can then share with others. KK's Key Takeaways • I Can’t Be Really Helpful Until (5:54) • Still Stuck In The Wound (10:51) • We Have These Stories Burning Inside (15:43) • Draw From The Wisdom Of The Scar (19:28) • If It’s Too Soon It's No Good (24:12) Karen Kenney is a certified Spiritual Mentor, writer, author, speaker, and the host of The Karen Kenney Show Podcast. Talk about a Spiritual Team On The Job (STOTJ)! My guests this week, Betsy and Laura Milne are two amazing women, business coaches and podcast hosts, who met online on Instagram about six years ago through what seemed like total chance. And, before you ask, they’re not sisters and they’re not even related! HA! They’re two women who just happened to have the same last name and as you’ll soon hear, the Universe had good reason to bring them together. Betsy and Laura were brought together by forces greater than them and that connection is what sparked them to create the growing community and brand, Luscious Hustle! A business that redefines what it means to “hustle” as an online female entrepreneur. Born from the ashes of burnout, Luscious Hustle was created to redefine what it means to “hustle” as an online entrepreneur. In less than a year, they harnessed their passion to build a six-figure business that supported the lifestyle and time freedom they craved. | Meeting Oprah | 25 Nov 2021 | 00:43:59
In a world that sometimes tries to place us in its tiny predetermined boxes, I’ve learned that it’s okay to dream bigger than your circumstances. To dream as if it's already happening for you. Dream as if it's going to come true. Even more importantly, dream with thankfulness for what you already have. Be grateful for your resources, your bank account, for the work and service you get to wake up and do every day, for the creativity you get to share with the world. From a place of recognition and appreciation, dream your dreams and then, it's also okay to dream of wanting to experience something more. Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about a time when one of my biggest dreams, the one where I met Oprah, came true. It wasn’t something I pushed, or forced. There was no manipulation or “making it happen”. I really believe it was simply who I was BEING in the world that made it possible. It simply happened as it should, while I was living my life, being myself and choosing to live in a state of thankfulness for every person, animal and thing on this lifelong journey with me. I hope today’s episode inspires you to not only look around at who and what you have to be thankful for, but also sparks those dreams deep within, that may have been pushed down, abandoned or forgotten with the craziness of everyday life. It’s time to dream and to dream big, because you never know when your own “Oprah” moment will unexpectedly arrive! | What Color Are Your Eyes? | 18 Nov 2021 | 00:28:53
Our identity is created through several different things but most often it all starts with our first experiences, and the environment we grow up in. Who we believe we are or the concept of ourselves, our ego; gets shaped between the ages of zero and eight. In our early years before the world gets its hands on us, we start out naturally knowing our full true Self; as children of God and extensions of Love. We are born pure, innocent, happy and peaceful beings; we enter the world in a place of wonder. Aware of our own brilliance and magnificence. Then slowly, the ego world takes hold and begins to imprint its version of “truth” on us. A mistaken truth which sadly many of us take as gospel. Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re taking a look at the stories we take on, write and tell about ourselves. The kind of stories that have us believing we aren’t good enough, that we’re stupid, or we’re broken or not lovable. When the reality is actually the opposite. There may have been pockets of time when maybe you were fumbling around trying to figure it all out, but no matter what you do, no one can take away your true identity. The identity where you are worthy, loveable and capable of loving. While our “ego personalities” could probably use some work (Ha!).... that doesn’t mean we are broken and need to be fixed. Instead, we need to remember who we truly are, our real, capital S - Self, and work from a place of love and acceptance of who we came here to be. KK's Key Takeaways: • The Concept Of Identity (3:24) • Why Did I Think My Eyes Were Brown (8:24) • We All Have Things To Work On (16:07) • What Color Are Your Eyes (21:26) Karen Kenney Show Podcast. | Letting People Go | 11 Nov 2021 | 00:46:02
As uncomfy as it can feel for us to think about, sometimes it’s not only necessary, but it is appropriate to let certain relationships or friendships go. Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re asking ourselves the question, “Where in my life are there personal or professional connections that are no longer working?” I believe if we look close enough, there are probably some old friendships, relationships, and even some marriages or business connections that are no longer feeling aligned with who we are or what we hope to create in our lives. In fact, in some instances those misalignments may even be holding us back from our goals and keeping us from fulfilling our dreams. For this reason, letting go and clearing out every so often can be healthy. As the old saying tells us, “Let go or be dragged.” Ha! I know that sometimes the idea of letting go is scary. However, I can tell you from personal experience that the freedom and clarity that comes with it are worth every unsubscribe or ending. Not only are you no longer tied down to something or someone that feels misaligned, but you’re free to welcome in the deeper, more soulful connections that will support, love and grow with you. Are there areas in your life that need a good letting go, cleaning up or clearing out? KK's Key Takeaways • Give Them A Chance To Re-engage (6:20) • More Of A Creator Than Consumer (11:18) • Who Do I Want To Stay (16:17) • Where Do I Belong (24:44) • Letting People Go (29:41) • We Don’t Have To Come In Swinging (33:46) • Thank You For Being A Part Of My World (38:38) Karen Kenney Show Podcast. | People Are Like Trees | 04 Apr 2024 | 00:52:44
It can be wicked easy to get attached to the idea that relationships are supposed to last forever – and that people and how we relate to one another are supposed to stay the same. This notion gets reinforced in our minds, because our brains really like familiarity and don’t particularly love change. When it comes to human beings and relationships - things remaining the same - is not a reasonable expectation because like trees, we’re all destined to grow. Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about how people are kind of like trees and the different relationships they find themselves in. Some relationships weather the toughest storms, bending but not breaking. Others provide support, shade or nourishment for a time before falling away. But all are built on the foundation, the roots, that started with what we learned in our earliest home life with our family. If you were to look at the people in your own life - what kind of “trees” would you discover? Do you have strong, stable Redwoods? Or are they a low bush that's never going to grow and it may be time to uproot and move on from them? As with trees, sometimes relationships wither away, but it doesn't mean they didn't serve a purpose when they came into our life. Like trees, relationships grow and change with each passing season with some remaining long term like evergreens and others moving on to grow alongside someone else. So, take a look around and ask yourself, “Who am I standing in the forest of this life with and are there any that I may have outgrown that it is time to say goodbye to? Plus, what kind of tree am I being to others?” KK's Takeaways: • Trees, Relationships + Personal Growth (01:36) • Family Roots (7:17) • Toxic Family Dynamics + Self-Care (13:25) • Tree Trunks, Growth + Relationships (15:51) • Self-Awareness (21:34) • The Cycles Of Relationships (27:43) • Building Sturdy Relationships (32:49) • Spiritual Growth + Internal Resources (36:09) • Personal Growth + Relationships (42:13) • Spark Of Life (47:38) Karen Kenney is a certified Spiritual Mentor, Hypnotist, Integrative Change Worker and a Life Coach. | Knowing The Real Story | 04 Nov 2021 | 00:51:56
As humans, we’re natural born storytellers who are always trying to make sense of what we think is happening around us. The reality is that sometimes our “perception” has more to do with our ego mind projection, than what is actually playing out on the screen and in the scenes of our life. Stephen Covey said it in an impactful way; “We think we see the world as it is, when in fact, we see the world as we are.” Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about taking the time to know the actual story before jumping into the judgement of others, on what “we think” they’re saying, doing or how they are acting. There is power and deep level healing in knowing the real story. Just a little bit of information can go a long way and can sometimes lead to paradigm shifts that change everything; moving us from a place of fear and judgement into our true state; of love, kindness and compassion. | Do I Dare? | 28 Oct 2021 | 00:40:15
At some point in each of our lives, we are called to be brave. Brave enough perhaps to speak out and or stand up, against the injustices of the world. Other times our bravery is more personal and necessary to face our own internal giants. Wherever the calling is found, if we know in our heart of hearts that something isn’t right; the question becomes, “What am I going to do about it?” Will I speak up, will I act, will I answer the call, even if it’s generally unpopular, slightly risky or extremely painful? Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about finding the courage to take a stand, even if it's hard and being the one who, even if they’re afraid, is going to mention that elephant in the room. I hope this episode gets you thinking and maybe even inspires you to pause and take a look within yourself, your family and your neighborhood - and ask, “Are there places, areas and situations that need support, change or a new voice?” And then ask yourself… “Do I Dare?” KK's Key Takeaways: • Civil Rights Lawyer (3:51) • David & Goliath (9:36) • Do I Dare (14:25) • Am I Going To Speak Up (22:51) • Eddie Would Go (32:32) Karen Kenney Show Podcast. | The Problem with I Know | 21 Oct 2021 | 00:51:25
I often joke that as a teacher and mentor, if I had a $1 for everytime someone said to me, “I know,” then I’d be filthy rich. Now, sometimes this happens because the brain likes to conserve energy, so you’ll be listening to a podcast or reading a book and you’ll hear yourself think, “I already know that” or “I already read that”. So, if the analytical mind gets a whiff of something familiar, the ego doesn’t like to leave room for any new information. It’s in these moments of “I know”, that we deprive ourselves of the opportunity to learn, to be curious, to make new discoveries and to expand. Not only that, we also sometimes rob ourselves of the possibility to change our mind. Today on The Karen Kenney Show, we’re talking about the difference between “I understand” and “I know” and the problems that can arise from the latter. There's also something really beautiful and powerful about showing up in the innocence of “I don't know”. It’s the space where wisdom, insight, inspiration and expansion can happen. The knowledge we gain in transforming ourselves, our life, our thoughts, and healing our suffering, starts with our willingness to learn. We must strip away what we think we already know and come with an empty mind, so that new information, going deeper and true healing becomes possible.
