Finding Joy with Guest: Dr. Yvonne Kason13 Oct 202600:59:34

Fr. Nathan discusses the work of Dr. Yvonne Kason, MD, MEd, CCFP, FCFP, a world-renowned pioneer in the field of “Spiritually Transformative Experiences.” She talks about her near-death experience (NDE) and the founding of Spiritual Awakenings International and her new book:  "Roadmap to the Great Awakening."

Yvonne Kason MD, MEd, CCFP, FCFP, is a Canadian Family Physician and Transpersonal MD-Psychotherapist (retired), author of 6 books, public speaker, originator of the term “Spiritually Transformative Experience” (STE), and STE Researcher.

Dr. Kason has had five Near-Death Experiences, and multiple STE experiences. She was previously on faculty at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Medicine. She is an internationally renowned medical expert in the field of Spiritually Transformative Experiences, Near-Death Experiences, and Kundalini Awakenings.

In 1994, Dr. Kason originated and coined the phrase, “Spiritually Transformative Experiences”, (STEs), in her ground-breaking book, A Farther Shore.  She defined STE as an umbrella term to include diverse spiritual experiences including Mystical Experiences; Kundalini/Spiritual Energy Awakenings; Psychic Experiences of all types; Near-Death Experiences; Other Death-Related STEs; and Inspired Creativity.  Dr. Kason elaborated on all types of Spiritually Transformative Experiences in her more recent books, Farther Shores: (2000, 2008), and Touched by the Light: Exploring Spiritually Transformative Experiences, (2019).

Father Nathan's guest this week is his nephew, Andrew Monks. Andrew shares his culinary journey, highlighting that pursuing one's passion with purpose can lead to joy.

His career as a chef has allowed him to live and work across many remote and beautiful corners of the globe, immersing himself in an array of different cultures and cuisines.

Andrew now calls remote Western Australia home and lives with his wife, Mel, and Stock, the border collie. They both work as educators: Andrew passing on his experience and love of the Culinary Arts, and Mel at the other end of the education spectrum, teaching Kindergarten.

Andrew and Mel continue to travel, teach, and inspire the next generation to open life's windows and let joy in.

Compassionate Response: Sami Madden, Jessica Cox, and Louis Fazio Jr.20 Jan 202600:46:48

Father Nathan's extraordinary guests are Sami Madden, Jessica Cox, and Louis Fazio Jr. Each brings a unique, compassionate perspective to the conversation. Sami Madden, an advocate for inclusivity, spoke about the importance of creating environments where everyone can thrive. Jessica Cox, known for her incredible achievements as a pilot, motivational speaker, and author, emphasizes the power of determination. Louis Fazio Jr., a social worker and author, highlights the need for compassion for everyone we meet.

Samir (Sami) Madden is a quadrimembral amputee and graduated Cum Laude from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies and History. Sami is the President of the International Child Amputee Network (I-CAN). I-CAN is committed to bringing together these children and their families to enhance the quality of life for the children and young adults based on the concept of mentors helping families, parents helping parents, and kids helping kids.

Jessica Cox is a motivational speaker featured around the world. Jessica was born without arms and uses her feet the way most people use their hands. She learned to see the blessings in her life and accept herself as a whole person. Now, Jessica flies airplanes, drives cars, is married, and otherwise lives a normal life.

Jessica is the author of Disarm Your Limits (https://a.co/d/fvTgaCS). Jessica, along with volunteers, is building The Impossible Airplane, a custom 200 mph, 4-seat airplane she will use to circumnavigate the world. She founded Rightfooted Foundation International to further her advocacy for children with limb differences and other disabilities around the world.

Louis Fazio Jr. is both an author and a social worker. His upcoming book, Privilege Interrupted: My Brother's Keeper, is co-authored with Matthias J. Mahoney. Born into privilege—but shaped by adversity, this compelling memoir explores themes of resilience, identity, and advocacy.

Spiritual Practice: Grandfather "A+"18 Nov 202500:41:17

Fr. Nathan and prayer partners Kim Sharp and Phillip West discuss the spiritual practices arising from the story of Grandpa "A+". This story is new and being heard here for the first time, and it is not included in any of the "Afterlife, Interrupted" book series.

Kimberly Sharp, LMFT, DTM, is a psychotherapist, loves helping people connect with the deepest part of themselves, which can promote joy, peace, and relief in their lives. Working from a mindbody-spirit perspective, she has witnessed how when we do our own inner work, it can lead to a deeply meaningful and fun life! Working as a prayer partner with Father Nathan, Kimberly has been amazed at the benevolence, kindness, and creativity the heavenly helpers on the “other side” use to support souls on their journey in the afterlife. Kimberly enjoys spending time with her husband and family, good friends, and volunteering with Toastmasters International and in her home parish of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in San Pedro, California.

Phillip West received a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois, Urbana. In 2014, he retired early from aerospace to pursue a journey of spiritual discovery. After the passing of both parents, he was inspired to serve those approaching end-of-life. Although COVID delayed those plans, he returned to graduate school to study pastoral counseling, trained as an end-of-life doula, and volunteers at hospice. He also gives time to caregiver and bereavement support groups in his community.
