Good Good Golf is facing backlash after its controversial advertisement, with reports that some golf courses are distancing themselves from the popular YouTube golf group. Is the reaction justified, or are these courses making a mistake?

Welcome to Episode 38 of The Joe McNeil Podcast!

Joe and Jehu McNeil are back discussing the biggest stories in golf, sharing their opinions, and having a little fun along the way.

Jim Furyk says he's going to make changes as the United States prepares for the 2027 Ryder Cup. But can one of the nicest guys in professional golf really crack the whip and get Team USA back on track?

We also discuss the future of LIV Golf, the newest Korn Ferry Tour graduates earning PGA Tour cards, and whether young stars like Blades Brown can bring new excitement to professional golf.

Plus, we debate what makes athletes like Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, and Scottie Scheffler so dominant.

And it's a big week for the McNeil family! Destiny and Abigail McNeil are attempting to qualify for the USGA Women's Amateur Four-Ball Championship, followed by Destiny and Carly Marshall returning to the Greenwood Cup after consecutive third-place finishes.

Episode 37: Scott Fawcett Unfiltered- Bryson, LIV Golf & Why Golfers Get It Wrong09 oct. 202600:51:27

Scott Fawcett, creator of DECADE Golf, joins Joe and Jehu McNeil for Episode 37 of The Joe McNeil Podcast, and he doesn't hold back.

Scott takes us inside the strategy that helped players like Bryson DeChambeau and Will Zalatoris, explains why so many golfers misunderstand course management, and breaks down why better decisions can matter just as much as better swings.

We also revisit our viral question: Would you rather hit it 330 yards into the rough or 200 yards and hit every fairway? Scott's answer is about as direct as you'd expect.

We get into:

• How Scott developed the DECADE system
• Working with Bryson DeChambeau and Will Zalatoris
• Why Scott was banned from giving college golf seminars
• Why golfers make bad strategic decisions
• The 330 yards vs. 200 yards debate
• Why laying back doesn't automatically keep you out of trouble
• How much speed is actually useful in golf
• Whether former professionals should return to elite amateur golf
• LIV Golf and why Scott believes its model was never going to work
• TGL and the future of simulator golf
• Scott's battles on social media
• The mental side of competitive golf

Near the end of the episode, the conversation takes an unexpected turn as Scott opens up about some incredibly difficult experiences in his personal life and how they changed his perspective on golf, social media, and life.

In Episode 36 of The Joe McNeil Podcast, Jehu and I get into the controversy surrounding the hit on Oregon QB Dante Moore, Chris Simms' reaction to the hit, and the growing debate over how much protection quarterbacks should receive.

We also talk about football, toughness and masculinity, golf spectator etiquette, the latest leadership changes at Good Good, and then get into YOUR comments from our 330 yards vs. 200 yards debate.

Apparently when we said 330 yards IN THE ROUGH, some of you heard 330 yards into somebody's swimming pool. šŸ˜‚

Episode 35: Good Good’s Big Move, Bryson’s $100K Challenge & Golf Myths25 sept. 202600:38:21

Good Good is taking on 50 states in 50 days, Bryson DeChambeau is hosting a $100,000 backyard golf competition, and it’s Presidents Cup week.

Joe and Jehu break down what Good Good is doing next, react to the first two rounds of Bryson’s new competition, and discuss whether the Presidents Cup is actually compelling.

Then we get into the comments, including the amateur-status argument that refuses to die and a viral AI video that somehow convinced thousands of people it was real.

Finally, we tackle some of the biggest myths in golf:

• Does your left arm really need to stay straight?
• Do ā€œlow-spinā€ shafts actually lower spin?
• Do you need to hit it straight to play great golf?
• How wide is a Tour player’s actual dispersion?
• More birdies or fewer bogeys?
• Is ā€œkeep your head downā€ terrible advice?
• Does swinging easier actually make you hit it straighter?
• Is ā€œdrive for show, putt for doughā€ actually true?
• How much difference does new equipment really make?

What’s the worst golf advice you’ve ever heard? Drop it in the comments.

Episode 34: LIV Golf Is Bankrupt. But Was the PGA Tour Ever Morally Superior?18 sept. 202600:43:34

LIV Golf filed for Chapter 11 after billions in Saudi backing. But the financial collapse raises another question:

Was the PGA Tour ever in a position to claim the moral high ground?

In Episode 34 of The Joe McNeil Podcast, Joe and Jehu dig into LIV Golf, the PGA Tour, Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, sponsor relationships, the battle over professional golf, and the double standards that can appear when money and morality collide.

We also get into the LIV timeline, the PGA Tour's suspension of Wesley Bryan, why LIV Duels may have exposed a real opportunity for YouTube golf, and whether there is still room for a legitimate competitor to the PGA Tour.

Then we jump back into last week's amateur golf debate and some of the best comments from Instagram. Should former PGA Tour and Korn Ferry Tour players be allowed to regain amateur status and compete in elite amateur championships?

We don't expect everyone to agree. That's the point.

Drop your take in the comments.

Episode 33: The Death of Amateur Sports: College Football, NIL & Pro Golfers Going Back to Amateur11 sept. 202600:47:35

What does the word "amateur" even mean anymore?

A golfer who earned more than $2 million as a professional just won the U.S. Senior Amateur. Colt Knost, after 199 PGA Tour starts and more than $4.5 million in career earnings, wants his amateur status back.

And golf may only be the beginning.

In Episode 33 of The Joe McNeil Podcast, Joe and Jehu McNeil debate whether amateur sports as we knew them are officially dead.

We get into:

• Former professional golfers returning to amateur competition
• Colt Knost seeking amateur status again
• Former NFL players trying to return to college football
• NIL money and whether college athletes are really amateurs anymore
• Judges getting involved in NCAA eligibility decisions
• Lane Kiffin, LSU and the changing landscape of college football
• The controversial ending of the Michigan game
• Whether college sports have simply become professional sports
• Your comments and reactions from our Good Good episodes

We also take a moment to remember the victims, first responders and families affected by September 11, 2001, on the 25th anniversary of 9/11.

So we want to hear from you:

What SHOULD qualify someone as an amateur athlete?

And once you've competed professionally, should you ever be allowed to become an amateur again?

Episode 32: The Callaway Conspiracy? Good Good Fallout Gets Even Crazier04 sept. 202600:40:31

The Good Good and Callaway controversy just got even crazier. We recorded Episode 32 of The Joe McNeil Podcast earlier today, and literally hours after we finished, the story changed again. Matt Kendrick is reportedly out as CEO of Good Good, Joe Flannery is reportedly out as president, and Nahid Giga is stepping in as interim CEO. And that's only the beginning. Since the controversial Good Good x Callaway ad dropped, Callaway ended its relationship with Good Good, retailers pulled merchandise, Good Good stepped away from its PGA Tour title sponsorship, the 2026 Big Break x Good Good season was shelved, employees lost their jobs, Garrett Clark responded, and Hunter Mahan weighed in on whether the backlash went too far. Then we followed the money. Callaway authorized a $200 million stock repurchase program earlier this year. Through June 30, the company reported approximately $84 million in share repurchases, with roughly $120 million of authorization remaining. Does that prove some giant conspiracy? No. We have zero evidence of that. But the numbers are real, the timing is interesting, and we're putting on the tinfoil hats. Jehu and I also get into the impact YouTube golf has had on the traditional game, the people affected by the cancellation of Big Break, and we respond to your comments from Episode 31. Episode 31: Callaway Apologized for THIS? The Good Good Golf Controversy28 aoƻt 202600:43:31

The internet is outraged again, and this time Good Good Golf and Callaway are at the center of it.

In Episode 31 of The Joe McNeil Podcast, Jehu and I break down the controversial Good Good and Callaway driver video, Callaway's public apology, Golf Galaxy's response, and the bigger question: when did a comedy skit become something that requires corporate investigations and public apologies?

We get into cancel culture, corporate responsibility, "concept creep," the pressure companies face when social media outrage takes over, and where the line should be between genuinely harmful behavior and comedy.

We also discuss the broader cultural conversation surrounding domestic violence, media reactions, and why serious issues deserve to be treated seriously rather than being diluted by labeling everything the same way.

Episode 30: MEN DON’T BELONG IN WOMEN’S SPORTS. PERIOD.21 aoĆ»t 202600:47:51

Why do women’s sports exist as a separate competitive category?

In Episode 30 of The Joe McNeil Podcast, Joe and Jehu tackle one of the most controversial issues in sports: men competing in women’s athletics.

For Joe, this one is personal. As the father of three daughters, including an elite junior golfer pursuing the highest levels of the game, he believes women deserve a fair and protected competitive category.

We talk about the biological differences between male and female athletes, the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team scrimmaging an FC Dallas boys academy team, Sarah Fuller kicking for Vanderbilt, Annika Sƶrenstam competing on the PGA Tour, Hailey Davidson attempting to qualify in women’s professional golf, Lia Thomas in NCAA swimming, Caitlin Clark, the WNBA, and where women’s sports go from here.

We also ask a bigger question: Why have separate men’s and women’s leagues in the first place if we’re unwilling to defend the distinction?

Plus, before we get into the main topic, we celebrate reaching Episode 30, talk NFL football, social media trolls, and why I decided to quit sports gambling.

Agree or disagree, jump into the comments. I especially want to hear from other girl dads:

What should we be doing to protect the future of women’s sports?

One hole doesn't define a golfer.

Episode 25: Inside the U.S. Junior Girls Championship17 juil. 202600:35:43

The 77th U.S. Junior Girls Championship has finally arrived, but our week in North Carolina took an unexpected turn.

Just before the biggest junior tournament of the summer, Destiny came down with a fever. Instead of focusing on preparation, we spent the weekend trying to get her healthy enough to compete. In this episode, I take you behind the scenes at one of the most prestigious championships in junior golf, share what it's really like inside a USGA event, and discuss the leadership lessons that adversity always seems to teach.

We also dive into parental behavior in junior golf, why rules matter, family updates, the upcoming U.S. Women's Amateur, and a little NFL talk to wrap things up.

If you enjoy leadership, golf, junior golf recruiting, and behind the scenes tournament content, you're in the right place.

Episode 12: Conspiracy Theories: Moon Landing, Bigfoot, Clones & More17 avr. 202600:41:53

Episode 12 of The Joe McNeil Podcast brings a different kind of conversation.

Joe is joined by Jehu and Abbey for the first three-person episode, and they dive into conspiracy theories that everyone has heard… but few actually sit down and talk through.

From the moon landing and Bigfoot to celebrity clones, fast food theories, weather control, and more, the episode blends humor, skepticism, and real discussion.

Some theories are easy to laugh off.
Others might make you think twice.

This episode is less about proving anything and more about exploring ideas, asking questions, and having real conversations.

If nothing else, it’s a reminder that not everything is always as simple as it seems.

If you enjoy the show, make sure to follow, leave a review, and share it with someone who loves a good debate.
