Elle Macpherson ‘At that time I was not confident, I wasn't comfortable, I was fearful’

Season 4 · Episode 40

mardi 10 septembre 2024Duration 40:17

Elle MacPherson is an Aussie icon, supermodel, businesswoman, actor, author, and a celebrity who we all know simply by her first name. Until now, Elle seemingly had the perfect existence, but what you’ll learn from this conversation is that our lives are never quite what they seem.

In this compelling episode Elle opens up about the highs and lows of her life, including her journey to sobriety and why self-love and letting go of control are key to her wellbeing. Elle also shares some of her biggest life lessons with us, and why not listening to her heart was a lonely place when trying to live up to other peoples expectations of what her life should look like.

Elle also shares her experience with breast cancer and why she chose a non-medical approach in response to her diagnosis. Elle’s decision to treat her cancer holistically is her story to tell and we listened respectfully. If you are facing a serious illness, please seek advice from medical practitioners and specialists. Look at the science and the research and make an informed decision that’s right for you and your unique circumstances.

How did the MH17 disaster change the life of an Aussie Federal Police officer?

Season 4 · Episode 30

mardi 16 juillet 2024Duration 35:13

AFP Assistant Commissioner Hilda Sirec was one of the first investigators to access the MH17 crash site in eastern Ukraine 10 years ago today. It was Hilda’s police training and skillset as a bomb technician which was instrumental in the collection of evidence that formed a major part of the criminal investigation and ultimately the successful criminal trial.

In this compelling BIG question episode Hilda shares her remarkable first-hand account of arriving at the MH17 crash site, and the challenges of working in an active conflict zone without conventional crime scene protocols. Hilda opens up about the enormous responsibility of finding the truth for the 298 victims and their families,  and the profound impact the disaster and investigation has had on her life. There is so much to learn from Hilda in this conversation about the importance of connection and expressing love to each other, as well as the need for perspective and self-care.

My BIG QUESTION this week is around tuning in to our inner voice, and why it often requires stepping back from our daily grind to access it.

So in this episode I’m going to share with you the major decision I made when I was on holiday and able to tune into my inner voice, which was telling me I wasn't happy

BIG QUESTION: Why do school reunions bring up different emotions for us?

Season 2 · Episode 42

mardi 29 novembre 2022Duration 17:23

My BIG question this week is around school reunions, and why they can bring up all sorts of emotions for us.

It's something I experienced recently and want to talk through with you, because school can be a fraught time for some of us trying to make sense of who we are and we might not want to revisit those teenage years at a reunion.

When you are around a group of people from a certain formative time in your life you can fall back into those ways of behaving and seeing yourself and it can be triggering and bring up all sorts of emotions.

So in this episode I’m going to share with you the emotions that came up for me at my 35 year reunion, and why I was happy I made the decision to go.
