| Ep 12: Liking People is Optional…Loving Them Isn’t! | 17 Jun 2020 | 00:17:12 | |
It is not a feeling, it is a choice. A choice to love even when we don’t like! That person you can’t stand, that you are so adamantly against, Christ died for them too! I can’t help but think that when Christ shows His love to me He likely over looks my faults. He knows I’m not perfect, but He doesn’t let that affect the way He loves me. He loves me not because of how I act or because of how I treat Him, but in spite of it! You know what…there is some serious grace involved in His brand of love. We are called to show this same love to others…not just those we like, and not only when they are acting like we think they should. People should not have to earn our love. They should receive it whether we think they “deserve” it or not. This is how we love like Jesus! | Ep. 10: For the Christian Mom Who is Losing Her Mind: You Are Not Alone! | 20 May 2020 | 00:19:48
Perhaps you’ve heard the Maya Angelou quote, “Know better. Do Better.” But what happens when you know better, but you keep not doing the thing you know to do! No offense to Maya Angelou! I respect her work and know that she had a different message in mind with these words. But here is where I find myself: Once again, my big mouth and my emotional overdrive have gotten the better of me. Once again, I let my feelings trample all over my hard-earned wisdom. You see, it is often not that we don’t know what to do, but most often that we fail to step back and weigh our situation in light of the progress we have already made. I don’t think I’m alone in this craziness. And neither are you, sister! I hope this episode allows you to give yourself some grace. Helps to silence the condemning voice in your head that tells you you are the only one with this struggle. And encourages you to move forward, staying in His Word and trusting that with His help we are making progress. | Ep. 9 - His Issues/Her Issues: Are You Seeing Clearly in Your Marriage | 06 May 2020 | 00:26:03
I am such a speck inspector! And unfortunately, (especially for Tim) my marriage is often not exempt from my expertise. You know what I’m talking about, right? The passage in Luke about the beam and the speck? I seem to have an uncanny ability to see around or even straight through the beam in my eye to help Tim identify the speck in his. Praise God, I’m not a bad as I used to be, but no doubt, I still have plenty of work to do! | Ep 8: #FightCOVID19: This Is My Story | 24 Apr 2020 | 00:40:53
Isolation is dangerous ground when you are going through hard times. Sometimes we need others to help us shine the Light of His Truth in our dark places. Decide to reach out! I’m so thankful my friends were there to help me lift my hands to heaven when I didn’t have the strength to do it for myself. And know this… I truly believe there is purpose in pain! If we will give our broken pieces to the Lord He will use them and us to impact the world for His kingdom. But we must decide to be used! WARNING: The first part of this episode is most definitely not my most upbeat, fiery of messages. But this is real time. This is me in the midst of recovering from my battle. I sound terrible! But there are lessons learned and messages from my mess that I want you to hear right now. Right where I am. Power Point: If you’d like to skip the personal details and jump right to the most to-the-point, power portion of this episode feel free to pick it up at time stamp (27:33). We're all processing a lot right now. But are we checking in to see how our kids are feeling in this season? I decided to take a few minutes to ask my own kids how they are feeling in the midst of the COVID crisis...with a microphone of course! While there's plenty of goofiness here, there were also things that came out of their mouths that blew my mind! Grab your own kids, and listen to this one together. I hope this will serve as a great jumping off point for your own family's conversation and offer some fresh perspective in this time of uncertainty. | Ep 6: Called and Equipped: What God Calls You to He Will Equip You to Do | 27 Mar 2020 | 00:33:13
Here’s a thought: Just because things don’t go according to your plans, doesn’t mean they are not going according to His. He knows what is around every corner, and He has equipped you to handle it before you even saw it coming. Friends, whatever He calls you to He will equip you to do and do well...with His help! | Ep 5: Holding on to Our Faith in the Midst of the Chaos | 18 Mar 2020 | 00:45:54
How did the heroes of the faith maintain that faith when everything around them was going crazy? How do we?? Let me ask you this. Have you reasoned that He is able? Do you, like Paul, know Whom you have believed? Not do you know about Him, but do you actually know Him? I believe therein lies the secret to Rock-solid faith! To a faith that can withstand the chaos of our present moment and fight the pull of coronaphobia which threatens to invade our homes and our sanity. This episode is jam-packed with Scripture to help you set your mind and keep it set on the things above. It’s time to stand on what we know regardless of how we feel! | Ep 4 : Decision Fatigue And the Weary Mom | 11 Mar 2020 | 00:24:56
There’s always more. There will always be more opportunities and options than you have the time and capacity for. And just because some have to be left behind does not necessarily mean any one thing (pursuit, task, action) is better than the ones left behind. There will always be more. And it is possible that it is all good. Decision fatigue is real, my friends! In the midst of a particularly emotional storm of overwhelm, I sat pouring out my complaints to the Lord. Begging (as I have done countless times over the past decade), “Lord, just show me exactly what You want me to do, exactly what path you’d have me take, and I’ll go after it!” That is when the Lord brought to my mind the story of the Israelites collecting manna. How the heck did they choose which manna to take when it was all good!? What is the surest way to accurately predict what someone will do in any given situation? Answer: Spend lots of time getting to know them, their attitudes, their mannerisms, their MO, if you will. So how can we begin to know with any certainty what Jesus would do, what choice He would make, what He would say, and how He would treat someone? Glad you asked! Let’s talk about it in this episode. | Ep. 83: Graced: How God Redeems and Restores the Broken with Author and Speaker Teresa Whiting | 29 Jun 2023 | 00:44:53
No one else can tell your story…These were the words the Lord spoke to Teresa Whiting’s heart as she prepared to write a women’s Bible study. But Teresa’s is a story of sexual brokenness. It is messy and she didn’t think her story would make for great Bible study material. Yet as she leaned into this thought the Lord brought her to the stories of six women in scripture with deep sexual wounds. Whether something done to you or brokenness resulting from your own poor choices, sexual brokenness comes in many packages. And whether or not sexual brokenness is part of your story you will find great insight into the heart of God for His people, messiness and all. Teresa’s new study, “Graced: How God Redeems and Restores the Broken” is sure to fan the flames of your faith. And if this topic makes you want to run in the other direction, I challenge you, push play and sit with this for a bit. The path to healing doesn’t have to be harsh. Teresa offers a path to gentle restoration. In her you will find a dear friend and compassionate guide to walk with you on your journey to wholeness….because God is a Healer of the broken, a Redeemer of the lost, a Restorer of dreams and a Giver of hope, in Whose hands no hurt is ever in vain. I encourage you to get your hands on this new Bible study. Don’t wait! Buy it now, and begin your path to restoration, wholeness, and a deeper understanding of the Father’s great love for you and plans to use your story….mess and all! | Ep. 81: Jesus Says YOU Are Necessary! | 25 May 2023 | 00:25:42
“It was necessary for Him to go through Samaria.”
Why did these words make me cry? Why did a phrase so easily overlooked, seemingly insignificant grab me at my core until my eyes burned and my breath came out in a whispered, “Thank you, Jesus.”
Friend, YOU are necessary. In this short phrase above Jesus proved once and for all that what the world may see as a lost cause He considers to be absolutely vital! Join me for this episode as we unpack this tiny line I highlighted many years ago. I truly believe you will find it to be a discovery well worth your time.
I invite you to join me for “Life in the Highlights,” a truly random journey where we will crack open my Bible and see what truths jump out at us from scripture I have highlighted days, weeks, or even years earlier.
