| Episode 202 - Tom Howe | 20 Sep 2025 | 02:10:48 | |
Tom Howe, a West Oz Fly Angler, Cocos Island Guide and fly design professor. Look... if you want to hear some over thinking stuff about Saltwater Fly Fishing and fly design.. this show will be audio syrup for your ears. Tom and Chris dissect deep in to fly design, the difference in flats fishing from the East Coast to the West coast and ways to fast track your fishing skills. To be fair there is some talk about Bream on fly, but to balance that out we get a Cocos Island Guide to weigh in on "Do Bumpies Eat", the answer may shock you. We also talk about the IGFA record Trigger fish and Bonefish that was caught under Tom's guiding, and what its like progressing as a newbie during this modern time of social media influence. | Episode 105 - Steve Starling ( Starlo) | 14 Aug 2021 | 01:55:11
On Episode 105 our guest would need no introduction to many people not only in Australia but all over the world. Steve Starling or "Starlo" is a TV Presenter, Author, Product designer, Blogger, Vlogger and Magazine Editor, but above all that is one of the best fishing communicators we have known. The reason we have Starlo on this show is because Starlo is that conduit between two worlds metaphorically speaking. Starlo is very well known for his contributions to the conventional fishing scene, but is also well known for his successes with fly fishing. This week we chat about that connection and talk to Starlo about why he prefers to flyfish in a lot of circumstances in addition to how Flyfishing can be both effective and frustrating which can make those fly fishing achievements all the more rewarding. Starlo has travelled the world fishing, but it's his results in his own accessible water that make Starlo an inspiration to many. As many would know, Starlo is no slouch when it comes to bream on fly. You can checkout what Starlo is doing on his website Starlo Fishing and subscribe to his YouTube Channel Starlo Gets Real. Or checkout and follow Starlo's Fishtopia that is also on facebook and Instgram. This show brought to you by Beast Brushes and Manic Tackle Project

What sets Pip apart from some of the guys of his vintage is not only his incredibly well rounded fly fishing experience from around the world, his ability to fish well locally (which is the highest pedestal) nor his incredible fly tying skills... the thing that sets Pip apart from the loudest personalities in the flyfishing game is keen interest to foster the future of the sport, not for money or sponsorship, but for the love of it!! Whether its industry professionals or kids in the tackle store, Pip is never one to make his actions about himself. We want to that this moment to say that from all the staff and production crew at the Intermediate Line, to extend a big thank you to all of you who who tune in and to those that have had their fishing improve from the guests we have had on the specials that we have toiled over during the last 2 years. Also a big thanks to all the guests leading up to now that have taken the time to help make the show possible. This is not the end but rather a milestone that we want to take a moment to show ourselves and give thanks to those who have ridden jetski's, stayed aggressive, showed us that they caught something on fly by putting the rod over their shoulder and scented their flies. We salute you all!! Big thanks to Dan "Scatman" Mamrot for hosting the show and to the Fishercrunt for cleaning up his intro from pure filth to something that will do. | Episode 99 -Morten Valeur ( Ahrex Hooks) | 03 Jul 2021 | 01:56:37

| Episode98 - The Fraser Coast Fishing Alliance with Scott Mitchell | 26 Jun 2021 | 02:28:49 | |
On Episode 98 we chat to Scott Mitchell who is the director of the Fraser Coast Fishing Alliance. The FCFA is a non profit organisation that's sole purpose is the see an improved ecosystem in and around the pristine waters of the Great Sandy Straights Marine park which is inside the world heritage listed Fraser Island. The main focus for the group at the moment is removing the anomaly of allowing inshore commercial netting within a designated yellow zone which is essentially the nurseries of the marine ecosystem. This anomaly ( indicated by red lines on GSMP maps) is unique worldwide to this area!! This is an issue close to both of the hosts, but for you as an angler, to pass this off as it doesn't apply to me, you are wrong!! This is a case of industry and commercial gain trumping environmental concerns and the concerns of those who use this marine park recreationally. If the FCFA doesn't get the support of you the recreational angler, no matter where you live in Australia or the world, your apathy is part of the problem. Go to the Fraser Coast Fishing Alliance and read what you can do, it will take hardly any time compared to scouting the flats in search of fish that are declining faster than ever. Lets face it, Carp can be a polarizing species, even if you haven't woken up yet to the awesomeness that is Carp, I'm sure as a fisherman of any species, you will greatly appreciate how Dan breaks down his species of choice on the show. Dan goes into detail with fly selection, techniques, environment observation and most interestingly, the physiology of Carp. We chat to Steve on the show about his YouTube Chanel and about the information he shares regarding Sydney based fishing for species such as Bream, Bass and Trout. Many of our fans will also recall the recent discussions about scent and the polarisation this has sprouted in the fly fishing community. It is Steve who most respectfully created a massive discussion on a Facebook page called Bream on Fly where a lot of views were thrown around regarding using scent and our views on the act. On this show we talk to Steve about that post and we then share our personal philosophies regarding scented flies in an attempt to put the subject to bed.

If your one of those guys who proudly announces " Flies don't need eyes, the fish don't care" you might want to tune out of this one. Technically we only just scratched the surface, but what we do talk about is the different types, how they apply to certain flies, how they act in the water, glues, tying methods, what material suit eyes and even which ones don't. Welcome back folks!! We are starting 2021 the same way we started 2020 with our favourite Aussie Legend Dean Butler. If your listening to this to discover who Dean is, I suggest you go back into our catalogue 12 months and listen to episode 25. For those that don't know, Dean is a world renowned fly Angler/ Guide and star of the hit U.S. Show Shameless. On this show we are pretty much sitting around the digital campfire where the conversation goes in a lot of different, but fly fishing related directions. From Croc stories, to political and environmental issues, then over to discussing the philosophy behind a good angler of any code then trying to find out why the hell more Spanno's aren't pinned on fly. This show is best described as deeply textured and although she is a long one, the conversation really flowed..... Please enjoy the show !!

| Episode 73 - Doctor Mitchell Bates | 11 Dec 2020 | 02:05:06 | |
On episode 73, we invited 2 young guns aboard to offer their perspectives on Australian fishing Podcasts. Our First guest is Mitchel McMaster who is one of the two hosts on the Australian Fishing Podcast called "On the Cast". The second guest is Dr Christopher Bates who is a renowned Mudskipper Biologist (with special interests in water sports) from Townsville and avid listener/ contributor of the show. We have a loosely themed chat about podcasting and what it has meant for these two guys from very different perspectives. Look, at the end of the day we tried to maintain a subject, but to be fair, a lot of this show is just clowning around....we had a lot of fun and really hope you enjoy the show too.... just think it could be worse, we could be talking about fly lines.

Episode 71 - On this episode we asked Neil Cunnington to stay up late so we could talk about fly fishing the famous Tongariro river in New Zealand and also about the roots of his fly fishing experience in Mackay central Queensland. Neil's story is a bit different in that he has gone from Tropical Saltwater Fly Fishing to doubling down on Trout. Neil is a very successful angler who is driven to spend as much time on the water as possible, and on this show not only do we have a detailed conversation about the fishing and techniques, but also managing the voices in Neil's head that instruct him to fish hard and fish often. A true gentleman, its was great to have him on the show and we both hope you enjoy that show as much as we did.

| Episode 69 - Shooting Heads, Haunted Fishing Spots and Sticky Stuff | 13 Nov 2020 | 02:12:12 | |
Episode 69 - Shooting Heads, Haunted Fishing Spots and Sticky Stuff is the title of this weeks plan gone okay. Its just Voltz and Chris again this week, but dare I say it, we may have redeemed ourselves somewhat for the flyline special when we discuss a fraction of what there is to know about fly lines when we talk about Shooting Heads. The question was posed when Chris was talking with the guy pictured who is Tom and yes he is holding a big Jewfish caught on a Game Changer. The conversation seems to naturally turn into adhesives, then we answer a listener question about fly materials storage. This weeks Wide World of Sports is a cracker, some great fish have been caught this week and we reveal how the rod on the shoulder scoring system is derived, so you can play to your strengths for future photos.
| Episode 68 - Servo food, skinny water and a shit moustache | 06 Nov 2020 | 02:07:57 | |
Episode 68 - On this episode we chronical Voltzy's recent trip to flats Valhalla, by covering a lot of specific detail that you may not have though was important, but defiantly is. We also have a brief discussion on ethics in the flyfishing/tying creative world and finish off with a very very verbose edition of VWWOS. Tune and get some while your at the tying bench or on the road, we really hope you like the show !!
| Episode 188 - James Caves Bermi Fly | 20 Jul 2024 | 02:01:47 | |
On this episode we are very pleased to present a true gentleman of the game and a master of the most accessible fisheries that we have in Australia.. Mr James caves. James, or Jimmy is not only a connoisseur of fine Rums but one of the most pragmatic fly fishos I know. His observational skills that have translated to his tying, his gear selection and fishing are worth paying attention to. On this show, we have included Jimmy from the start, and sure.. this really is a pub chat but for the observant, there is true gold to mine from this show. Jimmy is one to watch if you find yourself overloaded with information about Flyfishing.. a simple and whittled down approach that is providing more results than most in a tougher fishery than most could contemplate. We truly hope you enjoy this episode with long term friend of the show James Caves.
This show is brought to to you by Nervous Water, Kettafly, Power Pole, Beast Brushes and Flats Craft
| Episode 67 - "The Grind" with guest host Alex Roy | 30 Oct 2020 | 02:17:07 | |
Episode 67 was a great experience for us, it turned out to be a very lengthy, detailed, passionate and verbose show about how the Flyfishing sausage is made. By that I mean the work that goes into those social media success stories that we scroll onto with excitement and sometimes envy. A big part of this show is discussing the hours, failure and preparation that goes into that seemingly charmed life of an angler who to many looks like they live in the greener paddock. Join me (Chris) and guest host Alex Roy as we share our personal experiences and those experiences of others we know who have experienced “The Grind”.
| Episode 66 - Jon Snell | 23 Oct 2020 | 01:54:37 | |
On this weeks show we chat to our friend Jon Snell. Jon, or Snelly, is a Cairns based guide who operates under the name Jon Snell Fishing Charters. Snelly joins us to chat about a fish that is his favourite fish to catch and to put punters onto, that is the saltwater Barramundi. Snelly takes us through a variety of situations that he likes to find Barra in his local area, the flies he uses in addition to the gear. This episode is almost a saltwater Barra "how to" by a living legend who is well known for consistency, ABBA and all-round getting the job done in all forms of fishing. Also on this show.... well I should say almost on this show, I have to explain why we lost the intro, and we also have another action packed rod over the shoulder review as we keep it very real for another week.
| Episode 65 - Doug Phillips ( Tonic Eyewear) | 16 Oct 2020 | 02:21:57 | |
On this episode we are excited to chat to the creator of what many believe to be is the pinnacle of fishing sunglasses. Doug Philips is the owner of Tonic Eyewear and he joins us on this episode to chat to us about everything that goes into making and developing one of the most essential tools we as flyfisherpeople need past rods/reels/flies. On this episode, you will learn about the difference between the different coatings, and also different light transmission levels and how to select a lens that suits you and your fishing... or to look cool hanging out at the pub. If you are interested in getting more from your pair of sunglasses, this is not one to miss. In addition, we chat about Solunar calendars and how you can better understand them. Its an issue that polarises many people, you tend to either believe in them or not, either way, we shine a light on how they come about and what they mean. This weeks Voltzy's wide world of sports is both passionate and verbose and packs a stack of dentition. We hope you enjoy what we made for you this week.
