Does your schedule indicate that your family is a top priority in time, energy, and focus? 4. Are you taking the initiative to lead your wife spiritually by sharing the things God is teaching you? 5. Are you a good listener? 6. Are you accepting equal responsibility for the children? Even if your wife is better at some aspects of parenting, your children are your responsibility. We tend to rely on a particular set of beliefs and assumptions about the benevolence and controllability of the world and God, and traumatic events typically shatter that worldview as we become shaken from our ordinary perceptions. Today we walk through seven areas of growth that spring from adversity and how God uses our suffering and trauma to give us what we need most. The seven areas are: 1 Greater appreciation of life, 2 Greater appreciation, and strengthening of close relationships, 3 Increased compassion, 4 The identification of new possibilities or a purpose in life, 5 Greater awareness of personal strengths, 6 Creative growth, 7 Enhanced spiritual development. She also JUST released a companion book called Try Softer: a guided journey. In a world that preaches a “try harder” gospel—just keep going, keep hustling, keep pretending we’re all fine—we’re left exhausted, overwhelmed, and so numb to our lives. If we’re honest, we’ve been over-functioning for so long, we can’t even imagine another way. How else will things get done? How else will we survive?
It doesn’t have to be this way.
Aundi Kolber believes that we don’t have to white-knuckle our way through life. In her debut book, Try Softer, she’ll show us how God specifically designed our bodies and minds to work together to process our stories and work through obstacles.
