10 books to propel you forward in 2023 : Podcast 11805 Jan 202300:26:43

The Inside Stylists Podcast: Episode 118

What books inspire you to take action?

If someone was to ask you which books changed your life for the better it might look a little bit like this list.

I have to admit I'm a total self-development/business guru/health writer book junkie! If there's a transformation in it I want to read about it... or at least listen to the author on the doggo walk via Audible!

The following books have helped me in some way in my business and/or personal life - but let's face it they are pretty much intertwined for us all aren't they?

I want to start the year off with some recommendations that you may find inspiring, useful, and if nothing else help you get a better night's sleep or get out of debt!

Now, with a range of over 150 designs from throws and blankets to picnic blankets and scarves and in every conceivable colour they are going from strength to strength.

I'm really excited to be talking today with one half of The British Blanket Company, the lovely Bethan John

Today I'm musing on that very question. Is it better to take a complete break or keep updated? There are lots of reasons why you should take your laptop with you on holiday but maybe they should be for personal reasons - Netflix movie nights anyone?

Talking all things Freelancer tax with Chief Accountant at FreeAgent Emily Coltman13 Aug 202100:53:39

The Inside Stylists Podcast: Episode TBC

Talking all things Freelancer tax with Chief Accountant at FreeAgent Emily Coltman

If you asked today's guest what she does for a living she'd tell you that she translates small business finance and tax into practical common sense, following the innocent drinks "nan test" - if you can't explain a concept so that your grandma would understand, you're making it too complicated!

As the Chief accountant at FreeAgent - the online accountancy software company, she helps to make online bookkeeping and accounting for freelancers, that's not only very easy to use but even fun to use too. I use it and that is so true!

I couldn't think of a better person to invite into the Insider's Facebook group to talk to about tax and answer all our specific questions than Emily Coltman.

How to plan your very first photoshoot14 May 202100:17:21

The Inside Stylists Podcast: Episode 99

How to plan your very first photoshoot

The questions I get asked here at Inside Stylists HQ are a bit like buses. You don’t get any and then you get the exact same one three times within a few days of each other. Last week it was from brands who really want to up their game, stop using Danny from accounts to take their promotional shots and get their first photoshoot set up with stylists and photographers and good lighting!

Brands want a professional photo shoot that will be picked up by magazines and have a good selection of images that showcase their new ranges for social media. editorial and website use.

And that’s where we come in!

Inside Stylists is jam-packed full of interior stylists, interior writers and style assistants who are experienced in exactly what you want to achieve with your first photoshoot so it makes sense for us to explain exactly how shoots work from the very beginning of the process so you can see how we can help you.

Pension Talk with Ellie Lister from Penfold Pensions

Pensions! They're a minefield if you don't know how they work and if you're a freelancer and have worked in-house at a number of different places - all with their own pension schemes, it's doubly confusing.

That's why I'm excited to bring Ellie Lister from Penfold Pensions who are experts in freelancer pensions onto the call today to explain it all in plain English. Ellie shares the way Penfold runs the perfect pension for those with irregular incomes - that's us freelancers right?

If you're thinking about signing up with Penfold or moving your existing pension across to them I have an affiliate link bonus for you to use. Just add INSIDESTYLISTS to the referral code and you'll get an additional £25 added to your pension. That'll turn into squillions after a few years of compounding.

Interior blogging, designing and so much more with Kate Watson Smyth  26 Feb 202101:02:25

Today's guest's philosophy is that "your home should tell your story. It should make your heart sing when you open the front door and you should have something old, something new, something black, something gold. And always some natural wood."

She's a well-known interiors journalist, award-winning blogger, author, designer and now an online shop owner. She's a font of all things interior knowledge and I have to resist the urge to talk all things grey hair whenever I see her.

I'm delighted to share today's guest is Kate Watson Smyth from Mad about the house.

Boosting our Pinterest knowledge with Jen Stanbrook11 Dec 202000:29:54

The Inside Stylists Podcast: Episode 89

Jen Stanbrook has been the go-to leader in Pinterest for many years - in fact, we were sat next to each other during a press lunch and I told her then and there that I HAD to have her on the show. Roll on a few months and add in a worldwide pandemic and it was not quite how I would have planned it.

Jen was my first guest on the Facebook Lives I did during lockdown. She was Ace! She shared all her knowledge, answered everyone's questions, and set us up to win when we pin!

And we're back!20 Nov 202000:02:11

Oh how I've missed you!

The unexpected turn of events this year meant that my "I'll just take a little break" turned into a full on break. But I haven't been lazing around. Oh no. I've been doing Instalives, Facebook lives and Zoom calls (like the rest of the world) but with fabulous guests who my stylist, writer and assistant friends can learn from.

The first few episodes will be the audio recordings from those calls.

The first one is up next week and is with Margaret Haig who works at the Intellectual Property Office and told the members of Inside Stylists what is and isn't allowed when it comes to copyright and photoshoots.

Keep an eye out for that one which is launching next week.

See you then

How carving out the perfect career all started with defining Aurélien Farjon's personal style09 Mar 202000:37:03

If I had to give you a hint for who today’s guest is I would give the clues ‘Purple, French, fabulous” and I think that gives the game away. He’s been an interior stylist, set designer and prop stylist for many years. He’s worked with a ton of mainstream brands including Le Creuset, Ikea, Wayfair, Waitrose, Hotel Chocolate, Jack Daniels, Clarins, Jo Malone and soooo many more!

He’s often found creating Instagram-able moments at top London bars and restaurants with his merry band of ‘Reli’s Angels’ I am very happy to talk all things interiors with Interior Stylist Aurélien Farjon.
