Episode #233 -- Funny Games
Season 1 · Episode 233
mardi 2 novembre 2021 • Duration 54:02
Don't believe the title! The Immortals watch the upsetting Michael Haneke film Funny Games. (The original, not the American remake). They spoil the whole movie as they discuss whether Haneke's thesis still applies today and if the movie can work without it.
Episode #169 -- Fat City / Born in the USA / Vienna / South Park
Season 1 · Episode 169
samedi 24 août 2019 • Duration 01:49:16
Given that Fat City is a boxing movie, Austin should have been more prepared to put up his dukes. The Immortals have a notably mixed reaction to the John Huston film, but they reunite for their love of Bruce Springsteen. They also discuss Ultravox's Vienna (or is Venice?) and the strange legacy of South Park. Enjoy!
Intro 0:00 -- 24:45
Fat City 24:45 -- 54:00
Born in the USA 54:00 -- 1:07:25
Vienna 1:07:25 -- 1:12:51
South Park 1:12:51 -- 1:45:56
Outro 1:45:56 -- 1:49:15
NOTE: The audio was corrupted when Austin gave his henge rating for South Park. He gave it a 2.8

Episode #168 -- Aguirre, the Wrath of God / Purple Rain / Let My Love Open the Door / Jonathan Creek
Season 1 · Episode 168
vendredi 16 août 2019 • Duration 01:14:47
The Immortals are nothing but method podcasters. They recorded this a bit too late into the evening which puts them in the right mindset to go down the Amazon with Werner Herzog as conquistadors look for El Dorado in Aguirre, the Wrath of God. They go into ALL of their favorite Herzog stories and occasionally mention why the movie is good. They also dive into the classic Prince album, Purple Rain. Their hearts warm when they let love open the door with Pete Townshend and Jonathan Creek. It's a good episode!

Episode #167 -- Planet of the Apes / Signing Off / Bat Out of Hell / Walker, Texas Ranger
Season 1 · Episode 167
vendredi 9 août 2019 • Duration 01:03:23
When Don Draper saw Planet of the Apes, he stayed in the theatre with his son and watched it again. Were Austin, Pedro or Sarah compelled to do the same? Or watch one of the eight other Apes films? They also listened to some British reggae by UB40. Austin watched yet another stupid show--this time with Chuck Norris. But more importantly, Pedro has another excuse to talk about BAT OUT OF HELL!

J.C., Pedro and Austin tackle the slate in her absence as they look at the incredible Pedro Almodovar film, All About My Mother. They also listen to Yeah Yeah Yeah's hit single, Maps, and watch the intense Australian prison drama, Wentworth.

Season 1 · Episode 165
vendredi 26 juillet 2019 • Duration 57:33
They're back! After a week off, The Immortals had plenty of time to watch a 28 minute Kenneth Anger short film. They eventually get to that after breaking down the Emmy nominations. Then they can get to Thin Lizzy's legacy, Burning Spear's cultural context and the sci-fi silliness of Red Dwarf. Get excited!

Season 1 · Episode 163
vendredi 5 juillet 2019 • Duration 01:47:46
Pedro is back and he joined The Immortals to watch the four hour Sergio Leone epic, Once Upon a Time in America. They also listen back to an Uffie song, question the universal acclaim of Teenage Fandom, bask in the fake-nostalgia of Erasure and then Austin bitches about Prison Break for awhile.
Content Warning: The movie segment contains discussions of sexual assault.
