We have a special guest for you today, Ashley Craft, the author of the Unofficial Disney Cookbooks. As a child who grew up in Anaheim, California, Ashley could recite the Star Tours ride by heart, navigate the Park without a map, and fell asleep to the sound of Disneyland fireworks each night in her bedroom. After two internships at Walt Disney World and many, many more visits to the Disney Parks, Ashley is now one of the leading experts on Disneyland and Walt Disney World. On Sept. 29th, Hurricane Ian made landfall near Cayo Costa, an island off the coast of Fort Myers, just after 3 p.m. on Wednesday, it brought 150 mph winds -- tying as the fifth-strongest hurricane to make landfall in the U.S., according to the National Hurricane Center.

Enter World Central Kitchen - We have often commented on Chef Jose Andres, proprietor of Jaleo in Disney Springs, World Central Kitchen, and the amazing response that this outreach provides. Their mission states:

When disaster strikes, WCK’s Relief Team mobilizes with the urgency of now to start cooking and serving meals to people in need efficiently and with dignity. By partnering with organizations on the ground and activating a network of local restaurants, food trucks, or emergency kitchens, WCK serves comforting meals to survivors of disasters quickly and effectively. To support regional economies, WCK prioritizes purchasing local ingredients to cook with or distribute directly to families in need.

Pura Vida Happy Platers!

On show #160 Ryan gave us an overview of his amazing ABD tour of Italy, his review made each one of us add this to our “must travel” list.  We were excited to learn that one of our Happy Platers, Sandy Symianick, recently returned from an exciting ABD tour of Costa Rica!  And even better, Sandy is joining us at the table today to share her experience and give us more insight into all that an ABD tour encompasses.

Hello Happy Platers!

We are all familiar with those facts sheets that reference the price of common items the year you were born or what was the most popular toys or food items.  Have you ever wondered what kind of Disney Parks food was popular the year you were born? From the infamous turkey leg to the classic Dole Whip, Disney has been rolling out ever-so-delicious treats pretty much every year for the past 65 years.  What makes Disney food so popular? No real explanation can be found other than the fact that it's frankly delicious and appeals to our inner child.  

Let’s review a list of Disney foods that were popular the year you were born. While not every food will be on here, we're sure it has some heavy hitters that might give you nostalgia.
