MAPS Roundtable on DEA Rescheduling of Cannabis16 May 202400:52:35
Welcome to the Green Rush, a KCSA Strategic Communications Production, a weekly conversation at the intersection of cannabis, psychedelics, the capital markets, and culture. This week’s episode is a crossover roundtable event with our friends at the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) covering the DEA’s proposed rescheduling of cannabis from Schedule I to a Schedule III drug. Hosted by our very own Anne Donohoe, the Q&A discussion also features Betty Aldworth, Director of Communications & Post-Prohibition Strategy at MAPS, Karen O’Keefe, Director of State Policies at Marijuana Policy Project (MPP) and Paul Armentano, Deputy Director at NORML.  With the unprecedented federal drug policy change on the near horizon, MAPS assembled leaders with more than 50 years of combined experience in the cannabis policy reform movement to talk about what these changes are, why they matter, what myths need debunking, and what still needs to be done. Some of the topics covered in this conversation include the impact rescheduling will have on research and development of cannabis-based medicines, criminal law and systems-impacted people, cannabis banking and interstate commerce and veteran affairs.  If you are interested in learning more about how MAPS, MPP or NORML have played pivotal roles in implementing drug policy reform over the decades, be sure to follow them all on their socials linked in our show notes and visit their websites to follow their advocacy work.   So, sit back and enjoy this crossover Q&A discussion on the future of cannabis drug policy.  Links and mentions in the show https://maps.org/  https://norml.org/  https://www.mpp.org/  Links to the guest’s company and social media accounts Betty Aldworth LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/bettyaldworth/  Karen O’Keefe LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/karen-o-keefe-255a9921a/  NORML LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/norml/  MPP Twitter: https://twitter.com/marijuanapolicy  NORML Twitter: https://twitter.com/NORML  MAPS Twitter: https://twitter.com/maps  Show Credits: This episode was hosted by Anne Donohoe of KCSA Strategic Communications. Rick Doblin, Founder and Executive Director of MAPS, at the KCSA Psychedelic Conference21 Oct 202100:42:46
This week on the Green Rush, we wanted to revisit our previous sit down with Rick Doblin, Founder and Executive Director of MAPS. Recorded during a special fireside chat with our host Anne Donohoe at the virtual KCSA Psychedelics Investor Conference, Rick sat down to discuss the evolution of the psychedelics space, the latest on MAPS clinical trials and the roster of well-known capital market players supporting the psychedelic renaissance.  Suffice to say, there likely would not be a revived psychedelics industry if it were not for Rick who has for the last 35 years worked with the FDA, Congress and researchers around the world to advance psychedelic science and medicine. Founded by Rick in 1986, the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit research and educational organization that develops medical, legal, and cultural contexts for people to benefit from the careful uses of psychedelics and marijuana.   Over the decades, Rick Doblin has established himself as a leading authority on the renaissance of psychedelics and his insights on how these molecules may be able to solve the global mental health crisis will not be something that you want to miss. Rick will also be a featured speaker at next month’s Microdose: Wonderland Conference in Miami – so if you are planning to attend the show, make sure not to miss his session.   So sit back, relax and listen to our special fireside chat with Rick Doblin.  Links and mentions in the show MAPS website: https://maps.org/Rick Doblin’s TED Talks: https://www.ted.com/speakers/rick_doblin Links to the guest’s company and social media accounts Rick Doblin’s Twitter: https://twitter.com/rickdoblinMAPS Twitter: https://twitter.com/MAPSRick Doblin’s LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rickdoblin/MAPS Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mapsnews/ Show Credits: This episode was hosted by Anne Donohoe of KCSA Strategic Communications.  Special thanks to our Program Director Shea Gunther. Eben Britton, Former NFL Offensive Lineman14 Oct 202101:06:46
Welcome to the Green Rush, a KCSA Strategic Communications Production, and a weekly conversation hosted by Anne Donohoe and Nick Opich. Each episode we talk with the most interesting, influential, people in cannabis and psychedelic industries and this week we’re replaying an old favorite of ours, our conversation with Eben Britton, a former NFL offensive lineman and a dedicated cannabis and psychedelics advocate, podcaster and all-around fascinating guy. Selected 39th overall in the 2009 NFL draft, Eben spent four years with the Jacksonville Jaguars followed by two with the Chicago Bears. Since his retirement in 2014, Britton has been extremely open about his use of cannabis as a preferred method of pain management during his football career, and has cited the health risks associated with pharmaceutical painkillers as a reason why players should not be punished for choosing a natural alternative. Britton is now a board member of Athletes for Care, a group that advocates for athletes on various issues of health and safety including the use of cannabis as medicine. This is truly a fascinating conversation, one that covers mental health, cannabis, the NFL and psychedelics. Eben gives our hosts a deep, personal dive into the trials and tribulations of his football career and how cannabis has helped him achieve a greater sense of peace in his post-playing career. Tim Ko, CEO of Entheon Biomedical09 Sep 202100:40:36
This week, The Green Rush is republishing one of our favorite episodes from the last couple of months from when we spoke with Tim Ko, CEO of Entheon Biomedical, a company that is pioneering a leading-edge addiction recovery solution that harnesses and optimizes the therapeutic potential of the DMT molecule.  Entheon exists to invert the addiction-recovery ratio, turning the ‘untreatable case’ and ‘lost cause’ from the norm to the exception. When it comes to treating addiction, the rate of success is so low that society has been conditioned to accept – and even expect – failure. This manner of thinking is both unacceptable and counterproductive. There is a need for an alternative approach, that addresses the human cost of addiction for individuals, families and society at large. Entheon is developing a DMT-assisted therapeutic protocol that will be specifically tailored to address the core mechanisms underlying drug-seeking and using behavior. For hosts Nick and Phil Carlson, this is one of the most powerful interviews we have ever had on the show and we wanted to revisit the conversation around addiction, its effect not only on those afflicted but their friends and families and how psychedelics may be the light at the end of the tunnel for so many struggling.  So sit back and enjoy our conversation with Tim Ko of Entheon Biomedical.  Timothy Ko. Chief Executive Officer Timothy Ko has a broad background of leading private ventures in the Service Sector, Investor Relations, Retail and Technology. Timothy’s passion for the psychedelic space is shaped by firsthand knowledge of the shortcomings of the current mental health system, and through his exposure to psychedelics which he credits with saving his life. As a long-time advocate working behind the scenes for decades to reverse the US’s draconian cannabis laws, Adam is cautiously optimistic about this development, noting that one of the most exciting changes will be the increase in research opportunities of cannabis for medical use. Adam and our hosts also discuss the potential impacts this development will have on the industry and markets, the elimination of the 280E tax, and the potential global rescheduling of cannabis under the UN Single Convention on Narcotics. As the industry awaits what comes next, the team identifies M&A opportunities and clarity on interstate commerce as key areas of interest to watch over the coming months.  If you are interested in learning more about Adam and how his organization is fighting for a more sustainable legal cannabis industry, visit the links in our show notes and be sure to follow Adam and the Alliance for Sensible Markets on LinkedIn.
