Charleen Murphy is one of Ireland’s most successful content creators and host of podcast Hold My Drink. Not only does she inspire people all across the country with her fashion and beauty advice, over the past two years Charleen has shared something very personal with her followers after she was attacked in a Dublin restaurant. This completely unprovoked attack not only left Charleen with a scar on her head, but a completely new reality. This man was convicted and sentenced, but released without Charleen’s knowledge. Today, Charleen speaks about how she felt during that time, how she’s been able to grow stronger than ever in her recovery and how, how by sharing her story, she has been able to help so many people in Ireland and beyond. Sarah Grace was attacked in her own home by a stranger as she slept in 2019. This man had broken into her home and was jailed for 10 years for the attack. Sarah bravely decided to share her story in order to call for change in the Irish courts system so she could help future survivors. I'm joined by two very special guests Emma Cassidy and Martine Dines as they take us through their breast cancer diagnosis. Emma was diagnosed just before me and has since become one of my best friends. Today she’ll tell me about how she dealt with being told she had the BRCA gene and how the most unexpected miracle took place when she least expected it.

My guest this week is Dan Buettner. He’s a New York Times best-selling author and founder of The Blue Zones. Dan discovered the five places in the world, called blue zones hotspots, where people live the longest, healthiest lives. They are the Barbagia region of Sardinia, Ikaria in Greece, the Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica, Loma Linda in California and Okinawa, Japan.

Over a number of years, Dan teamed up with National Geographic to go to these ‘blue zones’ and study their people. What were they doing differently? How do they live? And what’s their secret? Dan found 9 common lifestyle habits in these regions, which he called the Power 9.

Lotte Bowser speaks to me about her fiancé Ben Kouijzer, who died in a Mexican hospital after contracting Covid 19, in 2020. Ben, who had a successful career as a music agent, had been diagnosed with cancer in 2019. His diagnosis came as a complete shock and Lotte did everything in her power to keep Ben here. They travelled to Mexico to get treatment for Ben, but after testing positive for Covid, Ben slipped away. He was just 36 years old. Damian Browne is a former professional rugby player and adventurer from Galway. Damian has rowed across the Atlantic Ocean and completed many more challenges. This year, climbing Mount Everest was top of his list. A couple of months ago, I started to follow his journey and listen to his podcast, Deep Roots, which he was recording from the mountain. I was so intrigued by his journey and loved listening to him speak about the challenge, his fears and how he felt every day (it sounded like a rollercoaster of emotions). Jodie Wood gave birth to her first baby boy Milo when she was 33 weeks pregnant. Her husband Will was in France at the time on a charity walk and tried desperately to make it home for the birth. Jodie welcomed Milo to the world with her mum by her side and Milo spent 3 weeks in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in the Rotunda Hospital. This is a gorgeous story of love, family and strength.

However, one night in Panama in Central America, Natasha was attacked by the driver of a water taxi as she made her way home. Terrified that she would be raped or murdered she jumped into the water only to be pulled back onto the boat by the driver. This week on The Good Glow podcast I continue my conversation with Ciara O'Malley. This is a 2 part episode. Last week Ciara spoke to me about her boyfriend David Gavin. They moved to Canada in 2017 and were settling into their new life in Vancouver. They made lots of friends and David joined a local GAA club. On the weekend of Ciara's birthday David travelled to a game and on the way the team stopped by a lake to cool down. David jumped into the lake, briefly came back up to wave to his friends before he was pulled back under and never resurfaced. Ciara rushed to the lake to help in the search for David and soon she was joined by her family and David's family. We pick up the story days after David went missing. His friends and family have gathered at the lake as they desperately search for his body.
