On this month's Issues of the Day, we try something different: First of all, there are no guests, just Henry San Miguel, Emily Mata & Shanclen. That's not the new thing. This time, each of the hosts comes up with their own topic and leads their respective segments. Then, Henry reveals where The Geek Speak Show will be spending this year's Free Comic Book Day.

Henry San Miguel & Emily Mata welcome filmmakers The Akbaba Bros. (Emirhan & Denizhan Akbaba) & Antoine Robinson to the show. They talk about their Proof-of-Concept Kickstarter campign for a sci-fi/drama TV series called On The Ground. Then, artist Amin Amat returns to the show to talk about The Road To Oz, Chapter 3.

This week, composer Jacob Yoffee returns to the show to recap his panel at this year's NAMM Show. He also talks to Henry about composing for two iconic TV shows & what he's working on in 2026. After the Book Club, and with the nominees for the 53rd Saturn Awards having been announced, Henry, Emily & Shanclen go over them & pick who they think should win in some of the categories.

Henry welcomes Mark Waid to the show this week. Mark Waid gives a preview of Comic Book U, a one-day seminar in which Mark, Howard Chaykin and Christian Gossett will teach both beginner and seasoned writers and artists how to create your own comics and graphic novels. Actor, writer & producer Eric Bear joins Henry on this week's episode. They talk about Eric's series, Belonging, now streaming on Apple TV. Belonging explores the lives of MetaHumans, all told over 10 episodes, with only 3 actors.

This year's Halloween episode features stories from Jean-Pierre Giagnoli, who used to work at Knott's Berry Farm in Orange County, CA. He has many paranormal experiences to share from his time there. Jean-Pierre is also a former Disneyland Cast Member who not only experienced paranormal happenings at the park, but Disney hired him to do paranormal investigations at Disneyland for other Cast Members.

On the final Geek Speak Treats episode for 2023, you'll hear from MTR, host of the Comics After Dark podcast and also a former Disneyland Cast Member. MTR experienced quite a few ghostly things at The Happiest Place On Earth while he was employed there. He talks about them in this episode, including a few that you may experience yourself on your next visit to Disneyland.

The Geek Speak Show kicks off its 16th season!

Henry & Shanclen are back, along with their new co-host, Emily Mata. After a new feature that'll help you keep track of cons & other events, Henry & Emily welcome Ethan H. Calk to the show. Ethan is the writer/editor of When Aliens Attack! It's an upcoming sci-fi comedy animated series and Ethan talks about how it was created, including why going with AI-generated animation. After the Book Club, Henry issues a challenge to Shanclen: In celebration of Star Trek's 60th Anniversary later this year, will he finally start watching Star Trek episodes? If Shanclen agrees to that challenge, where should he start?

The first Geek Speak Treats episode for 2023 features Midwick Manor co-creators Jenny & Angie. They talk about how their love of Halloween turned into this now annual transformation of their home into an all-ages Halloween display.

As the crew continues to prepare the virtual OC Paracon, the show goes back to 2019. Back to the day that Space Command made its debut to the world. Marc Scott Zicree returned to the show to talk about Space Command, the journey to get it done and what else is in store for this show. Then, Henry starts to get the show into spooky mode by replaying an interview from back in 2014 with Melissa Carbone from The Great Horror Campout. It'll sound like somethng you'd definitely want to be a part of, except it stopped operating since 2015.

Reed Reimer is on the show this week. Reed is a composer and founder of creative studio Fable Factory. He manages and contributes to creative projects with other fantastic artists from around the world. His latest project is the soundtrack for the upcoming TTRPG, Cthulhu Dreamt. This week, we head to The Final Frontier... Daren Dochterman joins Henry on this week's episode to talk about the upcoming documentary, To Boldly Go. It's a documentary where Daren & the rest of the hosts of the Inglorious Treksperts podcast will take a road trip to visit shooting locations from all Star Trek series and films...and be joined by some major names from the Star Trek universe along the way. This week, Henry welcomes Jonathan Kendrick to the show. The Geek Speak Show kicks off 2026 with the first Issues of the Day episode!

Henry San Miguel is back as the main host, along with the Nerdy Navajo, Shanclen. They welcome Analese & Rob, hosts of the Nerd Best Friends podcast to talk about the Stranger Things Finale and why this love letter to 80s culture made such a global impact for the past nine years. The annual Comic-Con episode begins with a very timely panel in collaboration with NAVA (National Association of Voice Actors) & SAG/AFTRA: A.I. In Entertainment, The Performer's Perspective. (Saturday July 22 @10:30AM in Rm. 29CD) Moderator Linsay Rousseau, NAVA president & founder Tim Friedlander & Zeke Alton (SAG/AFTRA negotiating committee) kick off the episode with a preview of this very important panel, for professional voice actors and those of you who would like to be pros. That's followed by a visit from Tony Kim, founder & CEO of Hero Within. As always, Hero Within will have a big presence at SDCC, and Tony previews all of it. Next, Legion M's Jeff Annison returns to the show to preview what Legion M is showcasing at SDCC. As this year's SDCC will look quite different because of the WGA & Sag/AFTRA strikes, Henry invites Eric Esperon, a long-time SDCC attendee, to talk about whether the lack of Hollywood panels diminishes the experience for the average attendee. Finally, it's revealed that for this year's SDCC, Geek Off The Street and The Geek Speak Show, Vol. 2 will combine forces to cover SDCC this year. Marc Pope & Trent Tucker join Henry to close out the episode and talk about their expectations.

Star Trek cosplayer & podcaster Girafe joins Henry on this week's all-new episode. Girafe began cosplaying at conventions in France and other cons overseas. She now lives here in the US and is about to attend her third San Diego Comic-Con. She talks to Henry about how she was introduced to Star Trek, cosplaying and how to prepare to cosplay when attending an event the size of San Diego Comic-Con. They also talk about her podcast, Strange New Pod and two panels she will be a part of at SDCC this year.

Now that it's July, many of us are looking forward to gathering in San Diego later this month for SDCC 2023. For the final replay while the team is on a break, we go back to the first in-person event after the lockdown: San Diego Comic-Con: Special Edition. David Glanzer talks about how it all came to be and what SDCC means to so many of us, including the Comic-Con staff.

It's not as easy as you might think, as you'll hear on this replay from August 2010.

With AI creeping into all aspects of our lives, The Geek Speak Show takes a look at how it may impact the film industry. First, Henry is joined by Jason Ragosta. Jason is a writer, illustrator, director, and editor & current Editorial Manager at Halon Entertainment. Jason talks about how AI will impact all of his current roles in the film industry, in good ways and not so good ways. Then, Jacob Yoffee calls in to talk about how composers and the music industry will be affected by AI. This is an enlightening episode, especially if you think AI will replace you or there's no place for you in the film industry. Spoiler: AI will NOT replace you...for now...

As Henry & the crew take a short break to prepare some events & upcoming episodes, we go back to Season 1 of The Geek Speak Show. On the second episode, Henry and the original on-air team discussed the topic of video game addiction. This is from 2010 and you'll hear how things like Madden, Facebook games (remember Mafia Wars?), and even texting were seen as things that could lead to addiction. This is an episode that will and should make you think and take notice of our lifestyles today, almost 13 years later. Did anything that we say come to be true? The episode kicks off with Dr. Travis Langley and his new book, Spider-Man Psychology: Untangling Webs.  Then, even though we're two weeks away from the official start of Summer, the show feels Fall-like with two horror films. The first is called Paralysis and director Levi Austin Morris joins Henry to talk about it. Followed by The Demons Within and director Stephanie Hensley.

This week, Henry & The Aberle Bros. give a taste of what the old Geek Speal spin-off show, The Week in Geek, sounded like. They may bring it back, but this time, as a video version. This week, Henry welcomes Chogrin back to the show. Chogrin is an illustrator,filmmaker,toy maker & children's book author and now, a director! His animated short, Lucky Brave's Sunshine, has been selected for the Los Angeles Latino Internarional Film Festival and Chogrin talks about the story, the creative team and what plans he has for the universe he has created. Then, CM Anderson visits the show to talk about her book, Lampblack. It's a fantasy horror comic in cinematic style and also a Kickstarter project that you will definitely want to support once you hear the story.

As this week's scheduled guest had to re-schedule, The Aberle Brothers and Henry instead discuss an article from Geek Tyrant where it's revealed that actors are no longer cast because of their talent or perfect fit for the role, but rather by how many Instagram followers they have. Is this a good practice? Recipe for disaster? The guys talk about that which then leads to another talk about toys that Henry grew up with (and a time where followers meant nothing). Vince from the Instagram account Toys From the 80s joins Henry to reminisce about the greatest decade. Plus picks for The Book Club and a few other announcements.

On the final episode for 2025, Henry & Shanclen, along with Geek Off The Street's Marc Pope & Trent Tucker, begin with the final Issues of the Day for the year. Only two topics: Why Netflix winning the bid to purchase Warner Bros. Discovery ISN'T as bad as all the "experts" have been bemoaning & why talking during movies in the theater IS bad, as everyone SHOULD be saying. Then, The Geek Speak Awards Show returns! The guys award the best of the year in comic books, video games, shows and movies. Yes, the WTF Award is back, too. (Meaning the worst movie of 2025.) The guys also look forward to what they're most anticipating in 2026.

This week, Henry goes solo as he welcomes Steve Fromm & Joe Queen. Steve is VP of the Geeky Guys & Gals 4 God OC group and Joe is President of the Geeky Guys & Gals 4 God San Diego group. They both talk about why they started the group, what they geek out over, and the activities the groups participate in. They even talk about those loud people outside San Diego Comic-Con who tell us we're going to hell for playing D&D or reading comics. For The Book Club, Henry welcomes back two friends and former guests of the show, Justin Berger and Jamie Benning. They co-authored Return of the Jedi: The Unauthorized Timeline, which will be released on the same day that ROTJ turns 40. They talk about how they met, what went into the book, and they even reveal some surprises that only those who listen to this episode will hear!

After being away for more than a year, The Geek Speak Show returns with Volume 2! Creator & original host Henry San Miguel is back and he's joined by the CEOs of Silver Eagle Productions, The Aberle Bros., as his new co-hosts. First, Henry is joined by the hosts of the Geek Off The Street podcast to talk about why The Geek Speak Show needed to come back and a discussion on the Star Wars sequels and Mandalorian Season 3. Spoilers, obviously. Then, The Aberle Bros. (David & Nicholas Aberle) join Henry to officially kick off Volume 2.

The Geek Speak Show is back! Before the debut of Volume 2, Henry (and you) take a listen back to a panel from The Geek Speak Expo, an audio "convention" from back in 2021. On one of the panels, Henry spoke to the hosts of the Geek Off the Street podcast, Trent Tucker, Marc Pope and RJ Manoa. On this segment from that panel, the guys ask Henry questions about The Geek Speak Show and podcasting in general, as well as a very geeky question. This will serve as an intro to what you're going to hear later this week when The Geek Speak Show, Vol. 2 makes its debut.

This is the final (regular) episode for 2025! To wrap up the season in a fun & inspirational way, Henry welcomes artist Emily Mata to the show. Emily talks about knowing she wanted to be an artist from a very young age, explaining to her parents why she wanted to draw for a living, creating Dewy's Adventures and Mira, becoming the comic artist for The Highlander, UC Riverside's newspaper, and how all of this culminated in Emily's goal for a looong time: attending & exhibiting at San Diego Comic-Con. Then, for the final Book Club of the year, Shanclen and Henry share books with you all and they tease next week's Season Finale.

This week, Henry highlights a new sci-fi film starring Tom Felton called Altered. Since Tom was a little bit busy on Broadway, Henry talks to director Timo Vueronsola & actress Elizaveta Bugulova about the film. Timo talks about the inspiration for the film and why he chose Tom Felton as the lead. Elizaveta talks about her character (Chloe) and what it was like meeting Tom Felton for the first time...after having grown up as a Harry Potter fan and Draco Malfoy being her favorite character. Then, Shanclen joins Henry and they talk about what's been happening in Geek Culture, including a spoiler-filled discussion of Predator: Badlands. 

The gang's all here for this Issues of the Day! Henry & Shanclen are joined by Marc Pope & Trent Tucker from Geek Off The Street. They start off the episode by talking about Tilly Norwood, the first AI-generated "actress" and why Hollywood is already scrambling to sign her to a multi-film deal & agents are open to being her reps...as if she were a real person. Henry points out why this will go beyond Hollywood....

Miami Vice. Masters of the Universe. Knight Rider. the Running Man. Baywatch. Those are some of the reboots coming soon. Is 2026 the year that we finally have to accept the fact that Hollywood has no new ideas?

The episode ends with some fun with time travel. As this episode was released on November 5, 2025, the guys celebrate the anniversary of the day that Doc Brown invented the Flux Capacitor. Just as Marty McFly went back 30 years to 1955, the guys go back 30 years to 1995. What do we miss from '95 and what are we glad stayed back in '95? What do we wish had stayed in 1995? 

Henry San Miguel is joined by the Nerdy Navajo, Shanclen, for this year's Halloween Episode. they play back the ghost stories sent in by you, our listeners, and also a few from our guests. Shanclen explains why his stories aren't just "I saw a shadow" or "I heard a noise" and he also explains why having a little "Halloween fun" and playing with a Ouija board, Bloody Mary or trying to communicate with spirits could invite something you only think would be in movies. A couple of weeks before Halloween, Henry & Shanclen get you ready for what you'll hear on this year's Halloween episode: Ghost Stories! Most of them will be from you, the listeners, but you'll hear a few from Henry and Shanclen, as well. On this episode, Shanclen shares two stories. One from his time as a tour guide at Vulture City Ghost Town in Wickenburg, Arizona and the other from a time that he visited The 13th Floor, A Halloween haunt in Phoenix,Arizona. Both tales are spooky, but also show you another side of the Nerdy Navajo.

The Geek Speak Show is back with an all-new episode! After Shanclen's Nerdy Navajo News report, Henry welcomes writer Joshua Rubin & award-winning Portugese artist Jorge Coelho. Their new comic book, Time Sensitive #1, is currently running a Kickstarter campaign, ending on October 9th. Time Sensitive isn't the typical superhero story...in fact, there are no superheroes in it. It tells the story of L.A detective Caleb Stone, who's wife disappears one day...and everyone claims she never existed. Except for one teenage girl Caleb meets who not only believes him, but knows why his wife and many other people are being deleted. After that, the Book Club selection is Mark Tullius' Try Not To Die series, with 20 titles published and 30 more in development. In addition to his other novels and short story collections, he's also written two nonfiction books inspired by his reckless journey through Ivy League football, MMA, and boxing—Unlocking the Cage, the largest sociological study of fighters, and TBI or CTE, which raises awareness for brain injury survivors. 

Henry welcomes RJ Palisoc to the show this week. RJ is a producer & writer who has worked at Marvel Animation, Sony Pictures Animation and Legendary Pictures. He's now created his own comic book series called Barkskin, based on the Filipino mythological creature known as the Kapre. Plus a new Book Club selection that's perfect for the upcoming spooky season and a new Nerdy Navajo News with Shanclen.

Henry & Shanclen are joined by Geek Off The Street's Trent Tucker & Marc Pope as they discuss whether superhero fatigue is actually a thing now...and is it really because of bad stories or just human nature to get tired of too much of something? Marc & Trent bring up a couple of interesting topics at the end: Are all the Korean music, shows and films that are so popular now a good thing or bad thing? Also, as shown in Alien:Earth, if someone's consciousness is transferred to a diffeent body, is that person still alive or someone else?

On this episode, Henry welcomes Scott & India Cramton to the show. Scott wanted to shoot a Ghostbusters fan film for their wedding day, which he and their friends did. They released it on their theatre company's Youtube channel and it's been a huge hit with Ghostbusters fans. Hear their story in their own words and how even neighbors and locals they didn't know gladly participated in this fan film. For The Book Club, author Maxwell Alexander Drake talks about getting a second chance to (re)write his two most successful books: Genesis of Oblivion.
