S4E18 The Consultant21 Nov 202501:37:39

We are joined by a very special consultant of our own this week, returning guest Marianne! We discuss this episode and various aspects that we really like, especially the great character development that we get from characters such as Foelivia (even though she isn't really a foe anymore), Walter, and Colonel Broyles, and we share some great thoughts from feedbackers like Geoff (xforce11), Eric (or Eric from Pennsylvania as you'd prefer), Anna (not Torv), ShelkyBean, and Laura! Remember that we are strategically skipping "Letters of Transit" for now and treating it as the backdoor season 5 premiere that it is, so next up is "Worlds Apart" when we will possibly be joined by Damon! Until then, we would love to hear your thoughts, so please feel free to send us your feedback!

It's just us this episode as we take on "Novation," Peter's first full episode this season. We reflect on some of the theories that we had back in the day about who was behind the Shapeshifters 2.0 (one of which was surprisingly quite… valid) and how we felt vs. now feel about Peter's (sort of) return to this timeline. We also get some amazing feedback from people like Polla, Vic, Geoff (xforce11), Rory, Anna (not Torv), Eric (or Eric from Pennsylvania as you prefer), Erin, ShelkyBean, and Patty from Canadia! "For all intents and purposes, that was the day we died." We pick right up where we left off at the end of 3.21 for the season 3 finale of Fringe and are joined by the great David Wu (who also has a Fringetastic surprise to share!) to discuss this emotionally devastating episode with a cliffhanger that will fundamentally change Fringe as we know it for the remainder of its run! We share what we love about this episode (especially the acting from various cast members as well as the great character development that we get with Walter) but also discuss our disappointment around the enigma that is the titular Sam Weiss not being fully explained, seeming to be a thread that was ultimately dismissed. We also hear some phenomenal feedback from listeners such as Geoff (xforce11), Eric (or Eric from Pennsylvania as you prefer), Anna (not Torv), Erin, and ShelkyBean! S4E16 Nothing as it Seems24 Oct 202502:03:08

Nothing is as it seems this week because it's just the two of us - no special guest! We discuss the return of Porcupine Man from "The Transformation" and how we feel about how he is handled. We agree that it isn't necessarily a highlight episode and we point to a scene especially that seems a bit contrived. We also voice some frustrations about the leaps in logic that this episode makes, but don't worry, this is still Fringe, though, so we definitely also have plenty of good things to say! We also share some excellent feedback (both written and audio) from Chris in Miami, Cory (who, for once, doesn't do much waffling on), Rhiannon, Geoff (xorce11), Eric (or Eric from Pennsylvania as you'd prefer), Anna (not Torv), and ShelkyBean! There is only one episode remaining this season available for a co-host opportunity, and it's our next episode, so if you would like to join us for "Everything in Its Right Place," click here! Joined by our loyal listener Missnet, we are once again rewinding back to 1985 for this episode as we discuss "Subject 13," a flashback episode of Fringe that shows us some of the immediate aftermath of the events that we saw unfold in "Peter" last season. We also touch upon some of the inconsistencies that this episode presents but all agree that it's a phenomenal episode nonetheless. We also, of course, hear from wonderful feedbackers such as Anna (not Torv), Geoff (xforce11), Eric (or Eric from Pennsylvania as you prefer), ShelkyBean, and Patty from Canadia! Join us and Anna as we discuss some of the interesting parallels between each season's 14th episode so far as well as some of the parallels between Olivia/Peter and Alice/Derek. We touch upon some of the various aspects of this episode that at least one of us had forgotten about - such as how the episode ties directly into "The Ghost Network" from early season 1 and also briefly shifts to the Redverse at the very end. Be sure to stay tuned for some wonderful listener feedback from Geoff (xforce11), Eric (or Eric from Pennsylvania as you prefer), ShelkyBean, Matt, and Patty from Canadia! After a bit of a break between seasons, we are back to tackle season 3, cortexifans! We are starting, of course, with the season 3 premiere, simply titled "Olivia," which shows us the immediate aftermath of the shocking cliffhanger at the end of season 2. Join us as we discuss everything that we love about this premiere, including but not limited to the phenomenal performance from Anna Torv and the complex, multilayered themes in the script. We also hear some great listener feedback from cortexifans like Geoff (xforce11), Rory, Eric from Pennsylvania, Patty from Canadia, and Erin! If you would like to share your thoughts about the next episode ("The Box"), please feel free to contact us via one of the methods listed below! We would also love to have you join us as a co-host for a season 3 episode, so check out that link to see what's still available!

S2E20 Northwest Passage19 Jan 202402:59:00

Join us along with Rachel (whose voice you will likely agree is just awesome) as we discuss the penultimate episode of Fringe's second season! Returning to the main Fringe canon, we find out where Peter went after disappearing at the end of "The Man from the Other Side" - none other than the literal northwest, Washington State! Here he meets Sheriff Ann Mathis (one of the show's best episodic characters played wonderfully by The Goonies' Martha Plimpton) as he helps her investigate a string of murders that feel uncomfortably close to Newton's M.O. Meanwhile, Olivia and Astrid help Walter deal with the aftermath of Peter leaving. Rachel helps us untangle all of the references that this episode has to the classic show Twin Peaks, and we get wonderful feedback from new feedbacker Prati, Eric from Pennsylvania, Patty from Canadia, Rory, Erin, Geoff, and ShelkyBean! Join us next time as we discuss the first half of the incredibly epic season 2 finale, "Over There," when we will be joined by the creator of The Fringemunks, David Wu! We would love to hear your thoughts about the first part, so feel free to reach out to us with your thoughts! You can also now sign up to be a co-host for a season 3 episode, so go check that out if you're interested!

S2E19 Brown Betty05 Jan 202402:32:26

Geoff (xforce11) joins us for this episode to discuss the first of four especially whacky Fringe episodes (of which we would get one each season from here on out). In this one, Walter, deeply troubled after the disappearance of Peter, tells Ella a story in which Olivia is a noir detective investigating the disappearance of Peter after he stole Walter's mechanical heart, except, as Walter tells Ella more than once, things are not quite as they seem. We talk about our thoughts on the short musical numbers, the noir atmosphere, and the many anachronisms. We also hear from listeners like you, including Rachel, Eric from Pennsylvania, Erin, Rory, ShelkyBean, and Damon! Be sure to join us next time when we travel to Washington State to see what Peter is up to and meet one of the show's best episodic characters, Martha Plimpton's Sheriff Mathis! We will be joined by the aforementioned Rachel and would love to hear your thoughts on "Northwest Passage," so please feel free to reach out to us!

S2E18 The Man From the Other Side22 Dec 202302:18:24

The Man From the Other Side is (at least in correct people's opinions) one of the best episodes of the entire series of Fringe! Something that we had been anticipating for such a long time - the culmination of the secret that Walter has been keeping for so long and it finally being exposed to Peter. In this climactic, pivotal episode (which really, in a lot of ways, leads fairly directly into the incredible two-part season finale in a few episodes), Peter finally inadvertently discovers that he is from the Redverse, and the scene that follows is one of the best acted, most emotional scenes of the entire series, with absolutely top-notch acting from both Josh Jackson and, of course, John Noble! Join us this week as we discuss this amazing episode with longtime member of the Golden Spiral Media community, Cory Metcalfe! We also get some fantastic feedback from listeners - including Geoff (xforce11), Eric from Pennsylvania, Rory, ShelkyBean, and Erin! Next up, we will be discussing "Brown Betty," Fringe's first of four whacky, out-of-the-box episodes, and the aforementioned Geoff will be on board with us for that! We would love to hear your thoughts about the episode, so please feel free to reach out to us! We would love to include you in the feedback section!

S2E17 White Tulip08 Dec 202302:19:43

Damon (not Lindelof) joins us this week to discuss this beloved fan favorite episode "White Tulip," co-starring the talented Peter Weller as Dr. Alistair Peck! The episode follows Dr. Peck as he tries repeatedly to travel back in time to the day his fiancée was killed in a car accident so that he can be reunited with her. It's a beautiful episode with a powerful ending that sets the stage for Peter finally learning the truth of his origin in the next episode. Listen in as we discuss the different rules of time travel depending on the story and what rules Fringe seems to be establishing, the phenomenal acting bounced off back and forth between John Noble and Peter Weller, and so much more! We also get some incredible feedback from listeners like you, including Rory, Geoff (xforce11), Michael London, Eric from Pennsylvania, ShelkyBean, and Linda Is Lost! Join us next time for our discussion of the amazing episode "The Man from the Other Side" which will feature Cory Metcalfe as our guest host! S2E16 Olivia. In the Lab. With the Revolver.24 Nov 202302:00:41

This is another great episode on this roller-coaster of Fringe episodes as we near the incredible season finale! This time, we are returning to the topic of Cortexiphan subjects as we meet a new one - James Heath, and we are joined by Marianne this week as we discuss this episode so obviously inspired by the board game and film Clue! We discuss the references to Clue as well as the amazing performances in this episode, especially from Anna Torv who we all seem to agree is the MVP of this episode. We also share our enthusiasm around Sam Weiss and how happy we are to see him again, while also lamenting that his enigmatic lines in this episode about his origins are never satisfactorily explained. You can also expect to hear incredible feedback from frequent feedbackers Rory, Erin, Geoff (xforce11), Eric, Patty from Canadia, and ShelkyBean! We hope that you will join us not only for this episode but also for the next episode when we discuss the fan favorite episode "White Tulip" with Damon, but until then, feel free to reach out to us with your feedback because we would love to feature you in our feedback segment!

S2E15 Peter10 Nov 202303:02:03

We are so excited to finally be talking about this phenomenal episode of Fringe - the highly anticipated episode in which we finally get the story of how and why Peter was abducted from the Redverse. When last we left our heroes, Olivia's "glimmer" ability kicked in just before she and Peter went on their very first date, leading her to realize that Peter is originally from the Redverse. Walter pleads with Olivia to not tell him, and in this episode (which features a fun, synthy '80s rendition of the theme music), we are taken back to 1985 as Walter sits down with Olivia to tell her the story. Just about everything about this episode is perfect. The cinematography makes it seem almost movie-like, and John Noble, Blair Brown, and Orla Brady all give Emmy-worthy performances!

Join us as well as returning co-host Michael London of Fringe Connections as we discuss all of that and so much more! You can also expect to hear phenomenal feedback from Damon, ShelkyBean, Eric from Pennsylvania, Rory, Patty from Canadia, Erin, and Hannah! If you would like to contribute feedback like they did for this incredible episode, be sure to check out our contact methods listed below! We would love to hear from you, and be sure to join us next time for our discussion of "Olivia. In the Lab. With the Revolver" which will feature another guest co-host - Marianne!

S2E14 Jacksonville27 Oct 202302:25:48

We have finally arrived where Fringe is arguably at its absolute best, a block of episodes that even the showrunners referred to as a "rollercoaster." Olivia's Cortexiphan ability comes back into play in this episode when she travels to the titular Jacksonville, Florida where the Cortexiphan trials took place. She must confront fear on so many levels, ultimately temporarily saving the day but making a horrifying discovery. We are joined by Danielle (DillyDilly) in this episode and also share amazing feedback from Erin, Geoff (xforce11), Eric (or Eric from Pennsylvania as you prefer), ShelkyBean, Patty from Canadia, Emily (also known as The Soggy Nacho), and Anna (not Torv)! If you would like to contribute feedback like they did, be sure to check out our contact methods listed below! We would love to hear from you, and be sure to join us next time for our discussion of the amazing episode "Peter" which will feature another guest co-host - Michael London!

S2E13 The Bishop Revival13 Oct 202302:13:26

Join us this week for our discussion of "The Bishop Revival" as we unpack a little bit of the Bishop family history in this very purple episode about a Nazi scientist who somehow has not aged since the 1940s and is carrying out deadly experiments to advance the Nazi agenda. It's an episode with a fascinating fringe science behind it, and we dive into the colors that we see in this episode as well as the several lines of dialogue that are so multilayered on rewatch. We get some truly awesome feedback from several listeners, including Geoff (xforce11), ShelkyBean, new contributor Morgan (also known in the Redverse as The Strawberry Supreme), Eric, and Patty from Canadia! If you would like to contribute feedback like they did, be sure to check out our contact methods listed below! We would love to hear from you, and be sure to join us next time for our discussion of "Jacksonville" which will feature guest co-host Danielle (or DillyDilly, as you prefer).

We take a look at the developments in the Peter and Olivia relationship, the impact the music has on one particular scene, discuss Walter's behavior toward Peter, and earn some cool stuff about the Czech Republic.

We also share some truly amazing listener feedback from listeners like Geoff (xforce11), Erin, Eric, Anna, ShelkyBean, and Patty from Canadia! Next up is the excellent episode "The End of All Things"! We will be joined by returning guest Jerame, and we still have two season 2 episodes available as co-host opportunities, so please be sure to click here if you would like to join us!

S2E12 What Lies Below29 Sep 202301:56:46

We are rediscovering what lies below this week on the show, which includes a seemingly sentient virus that comes from ten miles underground, the feelings that are obviously blooming between Olivia and Peter, and Walter's long buried secret. We discuss dialogue that we may or may not have caught the significance of back in 2010 and our thoughts about whether this standalone episode has any staying power. (Spoiler alert - yes, it does, especially because of that intense final scene!) We also get a lot of amazing feedback for this episode from Geoff (xforce11), The Best Em, Eric, ShelkyBean, Linda is Lost, Rory, and Patty from Canadia! S2E10 Grey Matters01 Sep 202302:20:08

We are finally back to the main season 2 storyline in "Grey Matters," an episode that gives us quite a lot to think about when it comes to Walter, so we are not only excited to be talking about this episode but are also very excited to have Mark joining us as a co-host! This episode (properly) introduces us to Thomas Jerome Newton, arguably the big bad of season 2, and we share some of our thoughts on him, such as how his politeness reminds us a bit of David Robert Jones. We also touch upon our favorite moments from this episode and the wonderful character dynamics that we get, as well as touch upon the color palette of the episode.

You can also expect to hear from regular feedbackers ShelkyBean, Eric, Geoff (xforce11), Rory, and our favorite whacky Canadian - Patty, so if you would like to be a part of the discussion and contribute feedback to the show, please do so via one of the contact methods listed below! We would love to hear from some more Cortexifans!
