10. George Harrison- Wonderwall Music (1968)04 Jan 202600:16:34

We're back!

In our 10th episode we discuss the album Wonderwall Music from George Harrison, the very first solo Beatles album. This one is a bit more loose than usual due to the nature of discussing an album like this, but we hope you enjoy it regardless!

09. The Beatles- Magical Mystery Tour (1967)03 Dec 202500:51:45

In this episode we discuss the trippy and psychedelic Magical Mystery Tour from 1967! We discuss whether or not we think it should be counted as an album, why its accompanying film goes underrated and of course, dive into every single track and give our thoughts and feelings on all of them!

08. The Beatles- Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967)25 Nov 202501:02:32

In this episode we discuss another album often cited as the greatest album of all time, Sgt Pepper.

In our longest episode so far we dive into this beautiful psychedelic wonder and have a lot of fun whilst doing it (including a fun little intro Henry thought of)

Enjoy!

07. The Beatles- Revolver (1966)23 Nov 202500:53:18

Apologies for the muddy audio quality on this episode! We aren’t sure what happened to it but hopefully you can still enjoy this episode regardless! I’d recommend listening on headphones so you can properly hear us! This is particularly disappointing given how important this album is in their catalogue!

In this episode we discuss an album often cited as the greatest of all time (The Beatles have a few of those but this is the first!) 1966's groundbreaking and revolutionary Revolver.

06. The Beatles- Rubber Soul (1965)23 Nov 202500:53:38

In this episode we dive into The Beatles' 6th UK studio album, Rubber Soul!

The 'two of us' have very different opinions on this album so this episode is particularly contentious compared to our previous ones.

We debate whether or not this was actually the album that transitioned the band from the Beatlemania period or whether it had already happened on previous albums. We also argue over whether certain songs on the album are underrated or overrated (although we all know no music can be overrated).

05. The Beatles- Help! (1965)23 Nov 202500:57:32

Apologies for the muddy audio quality on this! We’re not sure what happened but we are working on making sure it doesn’t happen again! It all should sound okay if listening on headphones!

Today we dive into The Beatles 5th UK studio album Help! from 1965 and the movie of the same name.

We butt heads over whether 'Dizzy Miss Lizzy' is a good song or not, discuss why 'Yesterday' is one of the greatest songs ever written and why George and John both have hidden gems on this album that go greatly underappreciated.

04. The Beatles- Beatles For Sale (1964)23 Nov 202500:48:49

Episode 4! And we are starting to actually get more professional on this one!

In this episode we discuss the 1964 album 'Beatles For Sale', a clear outsider compared to the rest of the band's discography, so a very interesting album to listen to and discuss.

Enjoy!

03. The Beatles- A Hard Day's Night (1964)23 Nov 202500:44:56

In our third episode we discuss both The Beatles' album 'A Hard Day's Night' as well as the film of the same name.

We discuss our thoughts on each song and why it is considered the peak of Beatlemania and score the album out of 10 at the end of the episode!

02. The Beatles- With The Beatles (1963)23 Nov 202500:38:25

In our second episode we are discussing the Beatles 2nd UK studio album, 'With The Beatles' from 1963! We provide our thoughts on each song individually and each score the album out of 10 at the end!

01. The Beatles- Please Please Me (1963)21 Nov 202500:41:43

In our very first episode we are, of course, starting from the beginning by discussing The Beatles' debut album 'Please Please Me' from 1963.

This episode is slightly more loose and chaotic than later episodes merely due to it being our first episode, so apologies for that.

Enjoy!

11. John Lennon & Yoko Ono- Unfinished Music No 1: Two Virgins (1968)07 Jan 202600:17:49

In this episode we discuss the wild 1st experimental album from John & Yoko, which was an immediately controversial release from the front cover alone (which we have obviously censored here!)

We dive into Yoko and our thoughts on her as an artist and why she is slightly underrated, as well as the album's bonus track 'Remember Love'.

12B. The Beatles- The Beatles (The White Album) (1968)08 Feb 202600:47:34

In this episode we discuss the 2nd disc of the iconic White Album! We butt heads over whether Why Don't We Do It In The Road or Everybody's Got Something To Hide is the better song, we agree that Savoy Truffle is vastly underrated and whether or not Revolution 9 should have been included at all!

12A. The Beatles- The Beatles (The White Album) (1968)22 Jan 202600:58:21

The 1st part in our 2 part episode on the iconic White Album (by The Beatles not Weezer) we discuss why the White Album might be underrated these days given the amount of people who don't understand its greatness and go track by track from 'Back In The USSR' through 'Julia'.

23. The Beatles albums ranked20 Jun 202601:25:59

Our final episode discussing the music of the Beatles and could there be a more fitting way to send it off than by ranking their studio albums from worst to best!?

Plus we've prepared a little surprise...

Follow us on instagram @thefoolsonthehillpodcast

In this episode we discuss the Beatles album that is hardly even a Beatles album, Yellow Submarine! Davis dishes out a hot take on the film and we discuss the four new Beatles songs that made the record. We also dive into George Martin's orchestral score that takes up side 2 of the record!

Enjoy!

21. The Beatles- Past Masters Vol 110 Jun 202600:43:41

We finally get to discussing the Beatles' many non-album singles! We have split up our discussions of the singles in the same way they were split up for the Past Masters compilations in 1988 so please enjoy our discussion of all the Beatles' non-album singles between 1962-1965!

20. The Beatles- Let It Be (1970)24 May 202600:53:42

The final Beatles album!! Insane how quickly that has gone by, but yes in this episode we discuss the Beatles final studio album, Let It Be! We dive in track by track and discuss one of the most contentious albums in the band's discography. Oh, and Davis goes on a large rant about the other mixes of the album. To Let It Be or to Let It Be Naked? That is the question.

19. Paul McCartney- McCartney (1970)13 May 202600:50:34

In this episode we discuss the first solo album from Paul! We dive into the mastery of 'Maybe I'm Amazed', shine a light onto some of the more underrated songs on the record including the outtakes, and whether or not 'Singalong Junk' should've been included or not.

18. Ringo Starr- Sentimental Journey (1970)23 Apr 202600:28:05

To coincide with Ringo releasing his brand new album 'Long Long Road' today we thought we should share our discussion of his very first solo album!

In this episode we discuss the first non-experimental solo Beatles album and our first album for the 1970s, Ringo's debut Sentimental Journey!

We discuss why the beginning of 1970 was such a packed time for Beatles releases and why it was so pivotal to the future of all 4 members, we go through track-by-track and ponder over how Maurice Gibb ended up as an arranger on it!

17. John Lennon & Yoko Ono- Wedding Album (1969)16 Apr 202600:13:17

In this episode we discuss the Wedding Album. We debate whether or not it is better or worse than the other experimental albums, discuss the history surrounding the making of this album and why the song 'John & Yoko' is extremely annoying.
