🎬 Welcome to The Flixters! Your 2025 Year-in-Review & 2026 Mega-Preview! 🍿

Grab your party poppers and a fresh bucket of popcorn, because this week on The Flixters, we’re reflecting on a wild year at the cinema and looking ahead to the massive slate of 2026!

We kick things off by celebrating the films and shows that actually lived up to the hype this year! We’re breaking down why Sinners and Bring Her Back dominated the conversation, and why Zach Cregger’s Weapons left us absolutely floored.

On the small screen, we dive into the nightmare fuel of IT: Welcome to Derry and the gut-wrenching brilliance of Adolescence.

Not every movie can be a winner. We get honest about the year's biggest letdowns, including the box-office stumbles of Captain America: Brave New World, the digital disconnect of Tron: Ares, and why the latest War of the Worlds reboot just couldn't find its footing.

Finally, we put on our future-goggles and take a peek at the movies we’re already losing sleep over for 2026!

  • Marty Supreme: Timothée Chalamet playing a world-class ping pong jerk? We’re in. (Fact: Timothée actually spent months training with professional table tennis players to look like a pro!)

  • Street Fighter: Can Jason Momoa as Blanka and 50 Cent as Balrog finally break the video-game movie curse?

  • Godzilla: Minus Zero: The King of Monsters returns for a direct sequel to the Oscar-winning Minus One.

  • The Odyssey: Christopher Nolan taking on Homer’s epic with Matt Damon and Tom Holland. This might be the biggest movie of the decade!

  • Spider-Man: Brand New Day: Tom Holland is back in the suit, and we discuss what a "street-level" Spidey means for the MCU.

And if that’s not enough entertainment for you, we’ve even thrown in new trailers to watch and what you can catch on streaming.

The one where we review Avatar: Fire and Ash22 déc. 202500:56:55

🎬 Welcome to The Flixters! Your Weekly Movie Mania Starts Now! 🍿

Pack your bags and hop on an Ikran, because this week we are returning to Pandora for one of the biggest cinematic events of the decade!

James Cameron does it again! We’re breaking down the third installment of the epic saga, Avatar: Fire and Ash. This time, Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri face a new, darker threat: the Ash People. Led by the fearsome Varang (Oona Chaplin), this volcanic clan shows us a side of the Na'vi we've never seen before. Does the "Fire Nation" of Pandora live up to the hype, or is the spectacle starting to burn out? We’ve got the full, spoiler-free verdict!

  • Fun Flix Fact: James Cameron is famously meticulous—he actually shot large portions of Fire and Ash simultaneously with The Way of Water years ago to ensure the younger cast members didn't age out of their roles!

To celebrate our main man Sam Worthington, we’re heading into the Anniversary Corner to look back at the 15th anniversary of Clash of the Titans (2010)!

Before he was the permanent leader of the Omatikaya, Sam was busy defying the gods as Perseus. We revisit this CGI-heavy epic to see how the "Release the Kraken" energy holds up in 2025 and discuss the parallels between Sam's journey from a demigod in Greece to a leader on Pandora.

  • Fun Flix Fact: Sam Worthington was famously "anti-sandal" on set! He reportedly hated the traditional Greek footwear so much that he chose to wear Nike trainers painted to look like sandals during some of the heavy action scenes to protect his feet.

And if that’s not enough entertainment for you, we’ve even thrown in new trailers to watch and what you can catch on streaming.

The one where we review Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery15 déc. 202500:49:53

🎬 Welcome to The Flixters! Your Weekly Movie Mania Starts Now! 🍿

Put on your detective hat and sharpen your wit, because the world's greatest private investigator is back, and so are we!

This week, we're deep-diving into the third, darkest, and arguably most devilish mystery from writer-director Rian Johnson: Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery (2025)! Daniel Craig returns as the one-of-a-kind Southern sleuth, Benoit Blanc, tackling a seemingly impossible locked-room murder at a gothic-looking Catholic parish. With a jaw-dropping ensemble cast (including Josh O'Connor, Glenn Close, and Jeremy Renner), we discuss if this twisty, complex whodunnit is the best entry in the series yet.

  • Fun Flix Fact: Director Rian Johnson drew heavily on the works of classic mystery writers like John Dickson Carr (master of the locked-room mystery) and even themes from Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None to craft this chilling and contained new case!

What do a fastidious private detective and an even more fastidious art dealer have in common? They both love a good case... and maybe a signature facial accessory!

For its 10th anniversary, we’re looking back at the 2015 action-comedy Mortdecai, starring Johnny Depp as the debonair, debt-ridden art dealer Charlie Mortdecai. This globe-trotting caper about a stolen Goya painting and a search for Nazi gold gives us plenty to discuss—from its madcap, silly tone to the incredible supporting cast including Gwyneth Paltrow, Ewan McGregor, and Paul Bettany.

  • Fun Flix Fact: Paul Bettany, who plays Mortdecai's faithful and highly effective manservant Jock, performed nearly all his own elaborate stunt work for the film's action sequences!

The one where we review Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair, She Rides Shotgun and Bugonia07 déc. 202500:54:17

🎬 Welcome to The Flixters! Your Weekly Movie Mania Starts Now! 🍿

Get ready for an epic, four-hour cinematic journey this week, because we are diving deep into the recently released, ultimate cut of a modern classic: Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair!

Director Quentin Tarantino finally unleashes his original, uncut vision—combining Volume 1 and Volume 2 into one seamless, violent, and vibrant masterpiece. We discuss the expanded action, the glorious full-color House of Blue Leaves sequence, and how this version changes the emotional payoff of The Bride's quest for revenge.

  • Fun Flix Fact: When the original film was split into two volumes, Tarantino moved a major plot twist—that The Bride's daughter was alive—to the end of Vol. 1 for a cliffhanger. In The Whole Bloody Affair, that surprise is restored to the finale, just as Tarantino originally intended, creating a much bigger shock!

In addition to Tarantino's epic, we are reviewing two completely different films!

  • She Rides Shotgun (2025): We tackle this gritty crime thriller starring Taron Egerton as an ex-con on the run with his estranged 11-year-old daughter. Does this intense, father-daughter survival story earn a spot in the neo-noir hall of fame?

  • Bugonia (2025): Prepare for something wild! Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons star in this absurd sci-fi dark comedy from director Yorgos Lanthimos (Poor Things) about two conspiracy theorists who kidnap a CEO, convinced she's an alien.

This episode is all about the power of the director's voice, so it's the perfect time to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight (2015)! We look back at this bloody, confined Western, where the director's love of dialogue and intense character work takes center stage inside a snowbound haberdashery.

  • Fun Flix Fact: The Hateful Eight was originally shot and released in a special 70mm "Ultra Panavision" format—a super-wide film gauge that hadn't been used by a major Hollywood production since 1966!

Finally, for our Hidden Gem, we travel to space... or maybe not! We discuss the powerful 2001 sci-fi drama, K-Pax, starring Kevin Spacey as a psychiatric patient who claims to be an alien from a distant planet, and Jeff Bridges as the psychiatrist trying to cure him. It's a film that leaves you guessing right up to the ambiguous final frame.

  • Fun Flix Fact: To prepare for his role as Prot, the alleged alien, Kevin Spacey reportedly spent time in a psychiatric hospital with doctors and patients to accurately capture the mannerisms of the character!

The one where we review Sisu: Road to Revenge03 déc. 202500:51:51

🎬 Welcome to The Flixters! Your Weekly Movie Mania Starts Now! 🍿

Strap in and prepare for maximum mayhem, because this week is an all-out celebration of the one-man-army action flick!

First up, we review the deliriously gory sequel that has everyone cheering: Sisu: Road to Revenge (2025)! Director Jalmari Helander cranks the dial way past eleven as the "man who cannot die," Aatami Korpi, returns to battle a new wave of baddies (this time, the Red Army) in a cartoonishly brutal, high-octane cross-country chase. Will Korpi's unbreakable Finnish spirit—or sisu—get him across the border? We break down every inventive kill!

  • Fun Flix Fact: The word "Sisu" is a Finnish concept with no direct English translation, roughly meaning "white-knuckled courage and unimaginable determination in the face of impossible odds." It's the only way to explain how Korpi survives!

Speaking of one-man armies, we're celebrating the 40th anniversary of the 1985 classic that defined the genre: Commando!

We dive into the glorious, over-the-top, rocket-launcher-fueled action starring the one and only Arnold Schwarzenegger as John Matrix, an ex-Special Forces Colonel who just wants to get his daughter back. We discuss how this film's absurd kill count and iconic one-liners paved the road for movies like Sisu!

  • Fun Flix Fact: The writer of Commando, Steven de Souza, was initially hired to write a sequel. When Arnold Schwarzenegger turned down the script, it was rewritten with a new lead character and set in an office building... eventually becoming Die Hard (1988)!

For our Hidden Gem segment, we're hitting the emergency brakes for a brutal, contained thriller you need to see: the 2023 Hindi-language action film, Kill!

A passenger train bound for New Delhi becomes a bloody battleground as two commandos must square off against a massive, invading army of bandits. With some of the most visceral, close-quarters combat and inventive stunt work in years, Kill is the definition of a shocking discovery.

  • Fun Flix Fact: Kill premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) where it was the first runner-up for the People's Choice Award: Midnight Madness, showing that this intense Indian action flick was an instant hit with late-night film fanatics!

The one where we review The Keeper26 nov. 202501:03:55

🎬 Welcome to The Flixters! Your Weekly Movie Mania Starts Now! 🍿

Lock the doors and check the shadows, because this week we're sinking our teeth into a chilling new horror that has everyone talking: Keeper (2025)!

Director Osgood Perkins (of Longlegs and Gretel & Hansel fame) brings his signature atmospheric dread to this terrifying folk horror descent starring the brilliant Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black). When Liz (Maslany) joins her boyfriend for a retreat to a remote family cabin, the quiet turns sinister, revealing a dark history and an ancient, lurking evil. Does Perkins keep the tension tight, or does this spooky trip wander off track? We'll give you the full review!

  • Fun Flix Fact: Director Osgood Perkins is horror royalty! He is the son of Anthony Perkins, the legendary actor who played Norman Bates in Alfred Hitchcock's horror masterpiece, Psycho (1960).

The tension in Keeper revolves around feeling trapped and being forced to deal with a terrifying individual in a remote location. That makes it the perfect time to celebrate the 35th anniversary of a classic that practically invented the horror-of-captivity subgenre: Misery (1990)!

Based on the Stephen King novel, this Rob Reiner film stars James Caan as a stranded author and Kathy Bates in her Oscar-winning role as his "Number One Fan." We discuss how this relentless, two-person psychological thriller holds up and how its themes of obsession and isolation tie into the dread of The Keeper.

  • Fun Flix Fact: Kathy Bates' incredible, terrifying performance as Annie Wilkes is the only time an actor has ever won an Academy Award for acting in a film based on a Stephen King story!

Finally, we close out the show with our Hidden Gem segment, where we shine a light on a movie you might have missed: the powerful 2019 legal drama, Responsible Child. Based on a true story, this BBC film centers on a twelve-year-old boy arrested for a serious crime and examines the complex ethical and legal questions surrounding criminal responsibility at such a young age. It’s a compelling, thought-provoking watch that deserves a wider audience.

  • Fun Flix Fact: The real-life case that inspired Responsible Child led to a national debate in the UK about the age of criminal responsibility.

The one where we review The Running Man, and Relay19 nov. 202500:56:47

🎬 Welcome to The Flixters! Your Weekly Movie Mania Starts Now! 🍿

Get ready to race through the ultimate cinematic gauntlet, because this week on The Flixters, we're diving deep into two major releases!

First up, lace up your running shoes as we review the highly anticipated, turbo-charged action-thriller: The Running Man (2025)! Director Edgar Wright (of Shaun of the Dead and Baby Driver fame) takes on the classic Stephen King novel, starring everyone's new favourite action-star, Glen Powell. Does Wright's signature kinetic style make this dystopian game show a winner, or is it running on empty? We'll give you the full breakdown!

  • Fun Flix Fact: The original 1987 film version of The Running Man starring Arnold Schwarzenegger deviated wildly from Stephen King's novel (which he wrote under the pseudonym Richard Bachman). This new Edgar Wright adaptation is reportedly much closer to the grim, satirical source material!

Then, we shift gears for the tense, twisty spy-thriller, Relay (2024), starring the phenomenal Riz Ahmed and Lily Collins. What secrets are they relaying, and does this espionage flick keep us on the edge of our seats? We've got the scoop.

  • Fun Flix Fact: Riz Ahmed, who stars in Relay, is not just an Oscar-nominated actor (for Sound of Metal); he also won an Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film for The Long Goodbye.

And speaking of dystopian action and televised games... It's time for our Anniversary Corner! We're celebrating 10 years since the release of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 (2015)!

This is a perfect tie-in with The Running Man, as both explore a world where the government uses lethal televised games to control the masses.

  • Fun Flix Fact: The idea for The Hunger Games first came to author Suzanne Collins while she was channel surfing, seeing reality TV competitions and news coverage of the Iraq War blurred together in a "very unsettling way."

And if that’s not enough entertainment for you, we’ve even thrown in new trailers to watch and what you can catch on streaming.

The one where we review Predator: Badlands and Frankenstein12 nov. 202500:57:40

👽 The Hunt Begins: Predator: Badlands (2025)

First up, we're lacing up our boots and heading into the new sci-fi action film, Predator: Badlands (2025)! Director Dan Trachtenberg (who gave us the brilliant Prey) is back to expand the world of the deadly Yautja hunter. This time, the focus is squarely on the Predators themselves in an all-alien-action-adventure. Does it live up to the franchise's brutal legacy? Can a movie with no human characters still connect? We break down the plasma bolts and the thrilling new lore!

💡 Fun Film Fact: Director Dan Trachtenberg revealed that the famous filmmaking duo behind Stranger Things, Matt and Ross Duffer, have a secret cameo in Predator: Badlands—they voice the computerized voice of a Yautja ship!

Next, we switch genres for the highly-anticipated return of the master of monsters, Guillermo del Toro, with his passion project, Frankenstein (2025). Starring the powerhouse duo of Oscar Isaac as the ambitious Victor Frankenstein and Jacob Elordi as the Creature, this adaptation promises del Toro's signature blend of terrifying beauty and heartbreaking pathos. We discuss the incredible gothic visuals and whether this version finally captures the true tragedy of Mary Shelley's novel.

💡 Fun Film Fact: To prepare for the role of the Creature, Jacob Elordi spent up to ten hours in the makeup chair daily! And Oscar Isaac took inspiration from musical legends like David Bowie and Prince for Victor Frankenstein's unique look and movement!

To celebrate the ongoing legacy of the ultimate extraterrestrial hunter, our Anniversary Corner travels back to 2010 to revisit Predators! Produced by Robert Rodriguez, this film stranded a group of ruthless killers on an alien planet to be hunted. We discuss how it tried to recapture the spirit of the 1987 original and how it influenced the direction of the modern franchise entries.

💡 Fun Film Fact: The title Predators is a direct nod to James Cameron's sequel Aliens (1986). Also, actor Adrien Brody put on 25 pounds of pure muscle for his lead role as Royce!

And if that’s not enough entertainment for you, we’ve even thrown in new trailers to watch and what you can catch on streaming.

The one where we review Good Boy and Good Fortune with special guest Jimmy05 nov. 202501:07:48

🎬 Get Ready for the Ultimate Genre Jump with The Flixters! 🤣👻

Welcome back, film fanatics! This week, we're pitting heartwarming comedy against heartbreaking horror in a cinematic showdown you won't want to miss.

First up, prepare for a shiver with the terrifying new horror film, Good Boy (2025). This movie is told almost entirely from the perspective of a loyal dog trying to save his human from a malevolent presence. Is it a good boy or a bad haunting? We'll let you know if this unique twist on the haunted house flick us had barking in terror!

Then, we switch gears completely for the highly anticipated directorial debut from Aziz Ansari, the star-studded comedy Good Fortune (2025), featuring the one and only Keanu Reeves as an inept angel! The plot involves a disastrous life-swap between a struggling gig worker and his wealthy boss—all thanks to Keanu's well-meaning (but inept) celestial being. We break down the laughs, the life lessons, and whether Reeves can nail the art of divine comedy!

💡 Fun Film Fact: Despite playing a character known for his Matrix action roles, Keanu Reeves fractured his kneecap on the set of Good Fortune after tripping over a rug! His director, Aziz Ansari, said the actor was an absolute trooper and kept filming most of the movie despite the injury.

🐾 Anniversary Corner: Loyalty that Lasts!

To tie into our dog-centric review, we're taking a nostalgic look back at Lassie from 2005! This beautiful adaptation tells the classic tale of a collie making an incredible 500-mile journey across the UK to get back to her boy, Joe.

💡 Fun Film Fact: The 2005 film marks the eleventh official movie about the famous Rough Collie, based on the 1940 novel Lassie Come-Home! Talk about a timeless icon!

Creepy, compelling, and perfect for fans of quiet suspense. 🏠😱 💡 Fun Fact: The film is inspired by real-life events in Paris — and the actual building still stands!

For our Anniversary Corner, we pirouette back to Black Swan (2010), Darren Aronofsky’s haunting ballet drama that gave Natalie Portman her Oscar and gave us all nightmares about mirrors. 🩰🖤 💡 Fun Fact: Portman trained for a year and lost 20 pounds for the role — and she did most of her own dancing!

So, grab your headphones and join The Flixters for another week of cinematic thrills, chills, and swan dives into film history. 🎧✨

And if that’s not enough entertainment for you, we’ve even thrown in new trailers to watch and what you can catch on streaming.

The one where we review Night Always Comes 23 sept. 202500:53:27

🎙️ This week on The Flixters: Real Estate, Romance, and Rift Time! 🍿✨

We’re serving up a triple feature that spans gritty drama, dreamy romance, and sci-fi adventure! First up, The Flixters dig into Night Always Comes (2025), starring Vanessa Kirby as a woman caught in the chaos of Portland’s housing crisis. It’s raw, riveting, and Kirby delivers a powerhouse performance that’ll leave you breathless.

Then we take a nostalgic detour to Before Sunrise (1995), the film that made us all believe in love at first conversation. Jesse and Céline’s Vienna stroll still hits just as sweet 30 years later. 💘 💡 Fun Fact: The entire film was shot in sequence over 25 days — and much of the dialogue was improvised by Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy!

And for our Hidden Gem pick: Time Trap (2017), a mind-bending indie where a group of students discover a cave where time moves differently. Think The Goonies meets Interstellar — with a dash of ancient mystery. 🕳️⏳ 💡 Fun Fact: The film’s concept was inspired by real-life theories about time dilation near black holes — and yes, the cave scenes were filmed in actual Texas caverns!

So tune in for the reviews, stay for the banter, and let The Flixters guide you through another week of cinematic gems and genre jumps. 🎧🎬

And if that’s not enough entertainment for you, we’ve even thrown in new trailers to watch and what you can catch on streaming.

Hello and thank you for downloading another episode of The Flixters Podcast!

🎬 This week on The Flixters: Thrills, Tape, and Time Travel! 🎙️🍿

Buckle up, cinephiles — The Flixters are back with a jam-packed episode featuring four wildly different films that’ll have you questioning reality, morality, and maybe your taste in vans.

First up: Highest 2 Lowest, Spike Lee’s stylish crime thriller remake of Kurosawa’s High and Low, starring Denzel Washington and A$AP Rocky in a high-stakes ransom drama set in the music biz. 🎧💼 💡 Fun Fact: This marks the fifth collab between Spike Lee and Denzel — their first since Inside Man in 2006!

Then we creep into The Man in the White Van, a retro-flavored thriller based on real-life Florida serial killer cases. Think Halloween vibes with a dash of true crime chills. 🚐🎃 💡 Fun Fact: Sean Astin plays the dad — yep, Samwise Gamgee is now protecting his kids from creepy vans!

Next, we hit play on Tape, a Hong Kong reimagining of Richard Linklater’s intense one-room drama. Secrets, betrayal, and emotional gut punches — all in Cantonese. 🎥💔 💡 Fun Fact: Selena Lee not only stars but co-wrote the screenplay, with Linklater himself as executive producer!

And finally, our Hidden Gem pick: Parallel (2018), a Canadian sci-fi thriller where a mysterious mirror opens portals to alternate realities. Multiverse mayhem meets startup hustle. 🪞🌌 💡 Fun Fact: Director Isaac Ezban made this his English-language debut — and filmed it in Vancouver, even though it’s set in Seattle. Sneaky, eh?

So grab your headphones, pour a drink, and let The Flixters guide you through this cinematic rollercoaster. It’s drama, dread, and dimension-hopping — all in one episode! 🎧✨

On Anniversary Corner we look back at Mo Better Blues (1990).

The one where we review The Long Walk and The Life of Chuck31 août 202500:57:14

Hello and thank you for downloading another episode of The Flixters Podcast!

🎙️ This week on The Flixters! 🍿

We’re taking a walk on the wild side — and the deeply emotional side — with two very different Stephen King adaptations: The Long Walk (2025) and The Life of Chuck. Tune in as we break down the brutal dystopian thrills of The Long Walk, where slowing down means lights out, and the tender, time-bending journey of Chuck, a man whose life unfolds in reverse and dances straight into your heart.

Expect laughs, hot takes, and maybe a few existential spirals as we unpack these cinematic gut-punches. Plus, we’ve got a fun film fact for you: The Long Walk was actually the first novel Stephen King ever wrote — at just 18 years old — though it wasn’t published until years later under his pseudonym Richard Bachman!

So, lace up your boots, grab a tissue (or two), and join The Flixters for another episode of movie magic, mayhem, and meaningful moments. 🎧💥

Is it brilliant, bloated, or both? Tune in as we dissect the chaos, the commentary, and the controversy.

The one where we review Sinners and Warfare21 avr. 202500:57:46

Hello and thank you for downloading another episode of The Flixters Podcast!

The Ryan Coogler and Michael B Jordan teamup continues into 2025 with the release of Sinners, a gloriously vibrant, vampiric tale of twin brothers in 1930s Jim Crow era America. With thumping music, an unmissable performance from Jordan and Coogler’s eye, Sinners sets itself apart from typical vampire fare.

We also discuss Warfare. A blistering look at the frailties of war seen through the memories of a Navy Seal platoon caught up in a gunfight in Iraq, in 2006. Unflinching in its take and full of powerful performances, Warfare will be spoken about for years to come.

Hello and thank you for downloading another episode of The Flixters Podcast!

After his Oscar winning turn as Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody, Rami Malek stars in The Amateur, a not so typical spy thriller that manages to do enough to keep you guessing. In Magazine Dreams, we have Jonathan Majors in blistering form as a troubled bodybuilder trying to make his dreams come true.

The one where we review Last Breath and Death of a Unicorn07 avr. 202500:50:38

Hello and thank you for downloading another episode of The Flixters Podcast!

On this week’s episode we’re talking about revenge seeking unicorns and deep sea diving.

Let’s get one thing straight, the trailer for Death of a Unicorn, is absolutely bonkers. Father and daughter duo, played by Paul Rudd and Jenny Ortega, accidentally knock over a unicorn (yes, a unicorn!) said unicorn’s special healing powers are extracted, and used by a rich family (as you do), and to make matters worse, said unicorn’s mum and dad aren’t best pleased with their little bundle of joy being carved up for rich white people’s pleasure.

What ensues is total carnage. Unicorn style of course.

We also discuss Last Breath, an edge of your seat thriller (based on a true story) about a deep sea diving mission in the North Sea that goes horribly wrong.

Check out the show for what we thought, and if you’ve seen the film hit us up on our YouTube channel and let us know your thoughts.

The one where we review Novocaine31 mars 202500:40:38

On this week’s episode we discuss the action/comedy Novocain starring Jack Quaid (Hughie from The Boys) and Jake Batalon (Ned from Spider-Man). In it, Jack plays Novocain, a lovestruck assistant bank manager who cannot feel physical pain.

When the bad come along and take his newfound love, Novocain, saves the day. Albeit in a rather messy and goofy kinda way.

The one where we review Opus26 mars 202500:43:58

Hello and thank you for downloading another episode of The Flixters Podcast!

On this week’s episode we discuss the latest release from hitmakers, A24. This is the studio that brought us Oscar winning Everything, Everywhere All At Once, or horror classic Hereditary. These guys know a thing or two about being off kilter, and dare we say it, edgy? Sometimes the mix is hard to get right but if a film studio can do it, it’s them.

Opus, their latest offering, starring the wonderful Ayo Edibiri (The Bear) and Hollywood veteran John Malkovich, comes across as a comedy but beneath the veneer lies a dark psychological twist.

Does that twist pay off? Check out the show for more deets!

The one where we review Mickey 1717 mars 202500:47:30

Hello and thank you for downloading another episode of The Flixters Podcast!

On this week’s episode we discuss Oscar winning film director Bong Joon Ho’s (Parasite) Mickey 17, an adventurous, and at times darn right bonkers sci-fi comedy. Starring Robert Pattinson (The Batman) as the eponymous Mickey, who’s brilliant by the way, the film offers a chaotic take on so many themes it’s hard to pinpoint what Ho, or the film wants to say. But the filmmakers must be commended on bringing the novel to life in such vigorous fashion.

The one where we review The Monkey24 févr. 202500:42:45

Hello and thank you for downloading another episode of The Flixters Podcast!

Fresh off the success of his sophomore film Longlegs, director Ozgood Perkins is on a roll. And a bloody one at that.

Perkins is back with an adaptation of a Stephen King short story, The Monkey, and if you’ve seen the trailer you can see where this is heading.

The tropes are there: twins (never a good sign in a horror film), a creepy monkey, blood, tons of blood actually, and a healthy dose of dark comedy.

If you have seen the trailer, let’s just say you ain’t seen nothing yet!

The one where we review Captain America: Brave New World17 févr. 202501:07:03

Another year, another MCU fan favourite hits the screens. This time, we’re ready to see Anthony Mackie take the reins off of Chris Evans, as Captain America. In what is being billed as a bold new direction for the MCU, Brave New World aims to deliver a lot of what audiences expect from a Captain America movie: big action scenes, great villains, espionage with a dash of comedy thrown in. Expectations are high for this Captain America outing so the question really is, is it any good?

Hello and thank you for downloading another episode of The Flixters Podcast!

On this week’s show we’re talking hairy transformations and office sex games. Weird combo right?

After the success of Universal’s and Blumhouse’s The Invisible Man, it was only a matter of time before the suits got together and worked out how they could bring to the screen the big hairy monster that was The Wolf Man.

Well, they did it and now we have Wolf Man. Directed by Leigh Whanell - who brought us The Invisible Man film, and taking inspiration from David Cronenberg’s 80s classic The Fly, Wolf Man is a different take on the monster story.

Check out the show for more deets!

We also discuss Baby Girl, a sexy thriller starring Nicole Kidman as a CEO who embarks on an affair with an intern at her company, sparking a series of  intriguing consequences. 50 Shades fans will love what the two get up to!
