2019 World Champion Christian Coleman has had a somewhat rocky career since he won his world title 5 years ago. 6th and 5th place finishes in the 100m at the last two World Championships, failing to make the 2024 Olympic 100m team, but at the same time cementing himself as the 60m Dash GOAT after World Indoor gold in 2024. | Is a World Record More Valuable than an Olympic Medal? | 31 Oct 2024 | 00:11:10
World Record vs Olympic Gold. A debate that has gone on forever between athletes and fans on which is more valuable. In a recent poll, between 100m legends Donovan Bailey, Justin Gatlin, Tyson Gay and Asafa Powell, the majority of people selected Asafa Powell as the the person who has a greater 100m career, while Donovan Bailey was selected the least. This was interesting considering Powell, though had set the world record, had never won an Olympic medal. While on the flipside, Bailey had both set the World Record and won Olympic Gold. So which is more valuable, a World Record or Olympic Medal? -------------------------------- Host: Anderson Emerole | @emeroleanderson on Twitter SUPPORT THE PODCAST 📱 Follow on Twitter: @emeroleanderson on Twitter 🎥 Subscribe to The Final Leg YouTube channel 📱Follow on Instagram: @thefinalleg on Instagram 🎧Subscribe and leave a review on Apple Podcasts --------------------------------------------

At the 2024 European Athletics Championships, we arguably saw the greatest Triple Jump competition in history. Jordan Diaz Fortun of Spain and Pedro Pichardo of Portugal went jump for jump fighting until the 6th round for the Gold Medal. Diaz Fortun came out on top with a mark of 18.18m, moving him to no.3 on the all-time list. Pichardo jumped 18.04m, which was just the 2nd time in history someone jumped 18m and did not win a competition. With the dust still settling on a legendary competition out in Rome, the question remains, was this the greatest triple jump competition in history? Today, I breakdown the European Championship Triple Jump final round by round, as well as take a look back at the history of the triple jump and some other high quality competitions we have seen over the past few decades. | Oblique Seville vs Noah Lyles, Julien Alfred Makes a Statement, and Jaydon Hibbert Eyes Olympic Gold | Racers Grand Prix Highlights | 03 Jun 2024 | 00:16:22
The 2024 Racers Grand Prix in Jamaica produced some electric performances on the track and in the field. The most notable of which turned out to be the Men's 100m Dash where Oblique Seville took down reining World Champion Noah Lyles, running a PB of 9.82 seconds, the fastest time by a Jamaican since Usain Bolt's 9.81 in 2016. Seville has finished 4th place in the 100m at the last two World Championships, but with this performance, is now looking to turn the tides and capture an Olympic medal in Paris this summer. Today I breakdown the highlights from the Racers Grand Prix including Oblique Seville vs Noah Lyles in Jamaica, Julien Alfred's 10.78 PB in the 100m, Jaydon Hibbert's 17.75m Triple Jump as well as share thoughts on Shericka Jackson's recent 200m races. | Breaking Down the Prefontaine Classic Women's 100m Dash | 28 May 2024 | 00:18:28
The Prefontaine Classic is always one of the highlights on the Diamond League calendar as it brings together some of the top stars in the sport. 2024 was no different, as the Women's 100m Dash saw a head-to-head clash between World Champion Sha'Carri Richardson and Olympic Champion Elaine Thompson-Herah in arguably the most competitive 100m race of the 2024 Olympic season so far. Though Sha'Carri took the win in 10.83 seconds, while Elaine finished last place in 11.30, the performances go a bit deeper than just their times on the clock. Today I breakdown the full 100m field from Sha'Carri and Elaine to Julien Alfred and Melissa Jefferson, including the implications as we get closer to the US Olympic Trials next month and the Paris Olympics later this summer. Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone announced that she will be focusing on the 400m Hurdles ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics this summer. Just a day later, she went on to run 22.07 seconds in the 200m dash, a new personal best and a display of her speed and raw talent. Considering she is the defending Olympic Champion and holds the World Record, can anyone truly challenge her in the event or will this once again be the year of Sydney in the hurdles?

| What's The Current Status of Jamaica's Top Sprinters in the 100m and 200m Dash? | 22 May 2024 | 00:15:44 | |
Jamaican Women have dominated the sprints at the Olympic Games over the past 16 years. Since Beijing 2008, they have won 10 out of 12 possible medals in the 100m dash, including all 4 gold medals. But the "Big 3" names of Jamaican Women's sprinting, Shericka Jackson, Elaine Thompson-Herah and Shell-Ann Fraser-Pryce, have all had slightly slower starts to their seasons than in previous years. Bringing about concerns around their potential to return to the podium once again. | Fred Kerley said his next 100m race will be a World Record. Is he Crazy or is he right? | 15 May 2024 | 00:10:05
On May 14th, Fred Kerley recently took to Twitter and said "World record next time I touch the 100m". That set the Track & Field World on fire with criticism from all angles considering the current record of 9.58 seconds, set by Usain Bolt back in 2009, seems almost unattainable by any current 100m sprinter. But though it may seem crazy on the surface, there is a level of understanding we should have for athletes setting ambitious goals. | Should the USA Require Athletes to Run at Spring Relay Meets for Olympic Relay Pool Selection? | 10 May 2024 | 00:12:54
Should the USA Require Athletes to Run at Spring Relay Meets to Be Selected for the Olympic Relay Pool? At the 2024 World Athletics Relays, a USA Men's 4x100m Team of Courtney Lindsey, Kenny Bednarek, Kyree King and Noah Lyles won Gold in a time of 37.40 seconds, which is one of the fastest times in history. The USA Men have not won a medal in the 4x100m Relay at the Olympics since 2004 and one of the main complaints is the lack of practice throughout the year. Considering this team not only won Gold at World Relays, but has also gotten consistent practice together early in the year, should they remain together as the team through the 2024 Olympics in Paris this summer? | Michael Norman Returns in 2024 as an Olympic Gold Medal Threat in the 400m Dash | 09 May 2024 | 00:06:22
Michael Norman opened up is 2024 Season with a 400m in 44.21 seconds. That's his first race since July 2023, his first 400m since August 2022 and the 9th fastest time of his career. Over the past few years, Norman has dealt with setbacks and injuries that prevented him from consistently performing to the best of his ability. After winning 400m Gold at the 2022 World Championships, Norman switched to the 100m dash, failed to make the 2023 USA team and switched coaches twice. But now with his 2024 seasons opener, he looks to be healthy and ready to return to the top of the podium this year. Is Norman now a threat for gold at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris? Italy’s Lamont Marcell Jacobs is the reigning Olympic Champion in the 100m Dash, but he is actually a bit different than any other Olympic Champion that we have ever seen in the event. Since 2021, Jacobs has struggled with injuries and setbacks that have prevented him from replicating the glory he experienced in Tokyo. But with a coaching change in the fall of 2023, as well as the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics, there's some new hope for him to once again get back on top of the podium. | Is Courtney Lindsey America's Next Great Sprint Star? | 24 Apr 2024 | 00:09:43
Courtney Lindsey shocked the world this past weekend in Nairobi Kenya with his 19.71 performance in the 200m Dash, just edging out World Bronze medalist Letsile Tebogo of Botswana. This comes off the heels of Lindsey’s 19.88 at the Tom Jones Memorial a week prior. Though these performances may come as a shock at the top of 2024, Lindsey is no fluke having made team USA last year to the Budapest World Championships in the 200m. All throughout 2023 he also ran times of 19.85, 19.86, 1988 and 19.94, proving that he was a consistent world class sprinter. As we look forward to the 2024 Olympic year, Lindsey has his eyes set on making team USA once again, not only in the 200m, but possibly the 100m as well. And considering what we have seen him do around the curve in his races, could we see him run 3rd leg on Team USAs 4x100m in Paris as well? | How Yulimar Rojas Led a New Generation of Women in the Triple Jump | 15 Apr 2024 | 00:16:43
Yulimar Rojas of Venezuela is the Olympic Champion, World Record Holder, 4-time World Champion and 3-time World Indoor Champion in the Triple Jump. She recently announced that she will not compete at the 2024 Olympics due to an Achilles injury, ending her consecutive gold medal streak. The Triple Jump is often forgotten and far from the most popular events, especially compared to track events like the 100m, 1500m or even field events like the Shot Put and Long Jump. But in just the past 5 years, Rojas and a few other women have arguably produced the most dominance in the event that we have seen in over 15 years. The women’s event is relatively young, only getting added to the Olympics in 1996, but in the 30 years since then, there have been a few different era’s where women have pushed the boundaries of what is possible in the event. Since winning her first Gold medal in 2017, Yulimar Rojas has arguably ushered in a new era of women’s jumping that will be on full display at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Despite Rojas’ absence this year, the Women’s Triple Jump is in very good hands and will likely be one of, if not the most competitive event to watch at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris this summer. Today we’ll dive into a brief history of the Women’s Triple Jump, discuss the different era’s of the event over the past 30 years as well as highlight the top contenders for the podium in Paris later this summer.
