From fire escape ballads to knife fights in a warehouse, everyone but Ricky was wowed by this film. Be sure to be ready for some tissues if you hadn’t seen any of this story like Caleb and Eric. | The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (1964) (COZY MOVIES #4) | 20 Dec 2021 | 00:59:28 | |
Ladies and Gentlemen. This film is perfect. Yes, that may be a tall claim, but few movies come close to the level of attention, feeling, and artistry that this film has reached. A classic from the vault of director Jacques Demy, The Umbrellas of Cherbourg is a masterpiece of song, color, and emotion. In Ethan's pick, we discover just how sad we can get, happy we can feel, and cozy we can become. Eric is surprised at how short the film is, Jared is in love with the colors, Ricky's views change on a character, Caleb goes gaga for Catherine Deneuve's eyes, and Ethan is touched. This film is a great watch and we have so much to say about it. Enjoy this with a loved one or by yourself, just have some tissues handy. Get ready for some east coast Autumn, also snow, also study groups huddled close, boys becoming best friends, and a teacher who stokes the fire of their souls, teaches them to think for themselves, and love poetry. This movie was Eric's pick and was basically the reason he started/joined a poetry club in college after watching the movie. SKYLAR joins us on this pod and tells us his greatest acting moment, we call Caleb "Fink," Eric divulges that he showed this movie to a girl he liked, we talk about some heavy topics, and Caleb is angry at the ending. We bundled up for this ride through The Seven Levels of the Candy Cane Forrest, past The Sea of Twirly, Swirly Gumdrops, and finally through the Lincoln tunnel. Elf has a special place in our hearts and a sour place in others hearts. It's complex emotion for sure. Snobbies. We have some soleumn news. Unfortunately in the process of recording this weeks episode, one of the audio tracks that contained a full hour of recording, was lost. We apologize for the disappointment, we’re pretty bummed here too. We managed to salvage 20 minutes of material, even though very little of it is about the movie. Bottom line is, we HIGHLY recommend this film and as Jared said in the lost recording, this is in his TOP TOP movies and is 5 start rated. We loved watching and talking about it. We hope you go watch it yourself. This movie was directed by M. Night Shyamalan and came out in 2004. This was one of his best in our opinion. We hope you Enjoy. Welcome back Snobbies to another installment of SPOOKTOBER! Today we watched Eric’s pick…which turned out to be one of the shortest episodes we’ve ever recorded. This movie was directed by Barry Sonnenfeld and has one sequel. What can be said about this movie that we didn't already discuss in the pod in a mere 35 minutes...yeah. It's not incredible by any stretch, but we had a few laughs and enjoyed talking about a film that was only barely better than Jared's pick last year, Double, Double Toil and Trouble with Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. So with that roaring review, ENJOY this ep!

SPOOOOOOOOOKTOBER is here to stay! This week we have Ethan’s pick and it is a bit of a funny horror flick. Fresh of the Boat of Wellington, New Zealand we have Taika Waititi’s “What We Do In The Shadows.” This is a bit of a hilarious, spooky movie and we love it. SNOBBIES. RAD DADS ARE IN!!! This month we try to find the most Rad of Dads. It's a competition. We've seen too many Bad Dads and we need to break this curse. What we have here is a first. Lets just say it. We watched a Twilight movie. Most of us have not watched ANY Twilight movies and Ricky's pick for today was the very last one, haha. Director Bill Condon, known for films like The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn- Part 1, The Jonas Brothers: Fly with Me, and Beauty and the Beast remake...Condon brings the most batSH** movie we've ever watched. Easily the most decapitations in a movie we've ever seen, the Snobbies really get down to the important issues in this one. Eric talks about his real life interaction with Kristen Stewart, we talk about favorite kills, and why this is hands down the freakiest CG baby we’ve ever seen. Honestly, if you can believe it, this episode is more insane than the Chef episode. Some of the snobs...just Eric...legitimately lose their minds. ENJOY!
