| 8-3-25 - Co-Migration and Community | 28 Jul 2025 | 00:26:19 | |
The readings for this week for the Eighth Sunday after Pentecost are Hosea 11:1-11 and Psalm 107:1-9, 43, or Ecclesiastes 1:2, 12-14; 2:18-23 and Psalm 49:1-12, with Colossians 3:1-11, and Luke 12:13-21. This week we look at Co-Migration. This has been observed in multiple species and is being noticed that it is happening more due to the fact of how our climate is changing. This leads us into a discussion of making sure that we are working together and not becoming focused only on "me". If we can focus on working together, the chances for us all growing are much higher. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful. | 7-27-25 - Finding your Song | 21 Jul 2025 | 00:29:18
The readings for this week for the Seventh Sunday after Pentecost are Hosea 1:2-10 and Psalm 85, or Genesis 18:20-32 and Psalm 138, with Colossians 2:6-15, (16-19), and Luke 11:1-13. This week we look at bird calls. Just like people, there are many different ways in which birds communicate. To do this, birds have to learn many different calls and songs to be able to connect with birds of the same species and other species as well. This is all used so that they can communicate well with other birds. When we are trying to connect with God, are we learning all the different calls that God is wanting us to? Are we learning to communicate with God and others effectively? Are we learning the vocabulary and the practice of different ways of communicating with God? Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful. | 6-1-25 - Debugging Our Faith, AI, Bias, and Allowing Transformation | 26 May 2025 | 00:29:07
The readings for this week for the Seventh Sunday of Easter are Acts 16:16-34, Psalm 97, Revelation 22:12-14, 16-17, 20-21, and John 17:20-26. This week we look at Bias. When we are thinking about using and designing AI, this is a topic of discussion and something that has to be considered. This is something that we as humans can struggle with and be blind to. Yet, in our faith we are called to be aware of it and try to figure out ways around it and draw closer to God with everyone, not just the ones that we would like there. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful. | 10-8-23 - Seeing Beyond Where We are at | 02 Oct 2023 | 00:29:50
The readings this week are Exodus 20:1-4, 7-9, 12-20 and Psalm 19, or Isaiah 5:1-7 and Psalm 80:7-15, with Philippians 3:4b-14, and Matthew 21:33-46. This week we look that we have to be okay with being able to change. This allows us to better understand God by seeing where God is taking us in the bigger picture and aligning ourselves to that. We were not able to see beyond where we were at with DDT, but it also helps us see that this is something we struggle with and hopefully we can continue to learn from and grow as people going forward. In doing that, maybe we also get better at it as well. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful. | 10-1-23 - Challenging our Understanding | 25 Sep 2023 | 00:28:05
The readings this week are Exodus 17:1-7 and Psalm 78:1-4, 12-16, or Ezekiel 18:1-4, 25-32 and Psalm 25:1-9, with Philippians 2:1-13, and Matthew 21:23-32. This week we look to go deep into space and see if we can try understanding how we currently try figuring out how old our universe is. We also find that right now there is much debate about how to do that and it might mean. It appears that creative hypotheses and a willingness to try new ways of looking at things are needing to allow us to learn more about the universe. This sounds very similar to faith in how we need to continue to allow our faith to grow and change as we get older along with allowing our understanding to grow as well. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful. Remember to answer this week's question: Where do you need to put aside your preconceptions to allow God in? #FaithandSciPod If you're wanting to hear another podcast on these texts check out: 9-27-2020 - You can Be a Scientist Too!

| 9-24-23 - When Beavers Flew | 18 Sep 2023 | 00:29:29 | |
The readings this week are Exodus 16:2-15 and Psalm 105:1-6, 37-45, or Jonah 3:10-4:11 and Psalm 145:1-8, with Philippians 1:21-30, and Matthew 20:1-16. This week we look at when beavers flew that were both creative and using the resources they had to solve a problem. This also helps remind us that God works in creative ways if we allow God to do so. It is important for us to allow God to do God's work, which will often have creative results. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful. | 9-17-23 - Humble to See All the Bees | 11 Sep 2023 | 00:29:06
The readings this week are Exodus 14:19-31 and Psalm 114 or Exodus 15:1b-11, 20-21, or Genesis 50:15-21 and Psalm 103:(1-7), 8-13, Romans 14:1-12, and Matthew 18:21-35. This week we look at how we as humans can get laser focused and miss the objective that we are striving for. In doing that, we become arrogant and ignorant of the things around us and end up hurting us in the end. This often means we need to be humble and forgive ourselves and others, in order to keep to the goals we see we need to accomplish. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful. The readings this week are Exodus 1:8-2:10 and Psalm 124, or Isaiah 51:1-6 and Psalm 138, Romans 12:1-8, and Matthew 16:13-20. This week we look at how important DNA sequencing is to helping us to better understand different parts of our ecosystem. In better understanding them, we start to better understand ourselves. We also can see why invasive species are so damaging to our ecosystems and what we can learn about ourselves from that. This week we look at science discoveries that are showing to have bigger impacts than first thought. These are discoveries that are and will help us understand ourselves better with time even though they come from octopi and bacteria. Are we willing to keep striving to understand more to get to where God wants us to be? Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful. | 8-13-23 - The ”Tension” we all NEED to Walk! | 07 Aug 2023 | 00:30:00
The readings this week are Genesis 37:1-4, 12-28 and Psalm 105: 1-6, 16-22, 45b, or1 Kings 19:9-18 and Psalm 85:8-13, with Romans 10:5-15, and Matthew 14:22-33. This week we look at how we have a difficult walk to do with our current climate crisis. In that though, there seems to be some hope from some recent discoveries that may require some geo-engineering. This will be hard work, but it's nothing new to followers of "The Way". Are we willing to put in the work again this time? Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful. | 5-25-25 - Tuned to Thrive: Preparing to Listen for the Advocate | 19 May 2025 | 00:27:58
The readings for this week for the Sixth Sunday of Easter are Acts 16:9-15, Psalm 67, Revelation 21:10, 22-22:5, John 14:23-29 or John 5:1-9. This week we look at Coral Reefs and how scientists have been working with music to help restore the reefs. This shows yet again how we need to listen and hear the voice of God to be able to be in the places that God wants us. When we do this the chance of growth seems to increase. This week how plants and lobsters can work in abundance and not expect a large return. They provide in abundance and expect that God will work within that to provide. Why don't we work in the same way? Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful. Remember to answer this week's question: Where are you seeing abundance? What are you going to do with that abundance? #FaithandSciPod If you're wanting to hear another podcast on these texts check out: 8-2-20 - Jesus Invites Us into a New Lifestyle! | 7-23-23 -Communication Growth to get Closer to God? | 17 Jul 2023 | 00:29:14
The readings this week are Genesis 28:10-19a and Psalm 139:1-12, 23-24, or Wisdom of Solomon 12:13, 16-19, or Isaiah 44:6-8 and Psalm 86:11-17, Romans 8:12-25, and Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43. This week look at how much has changed in the last 500 but especially the last 200 years when it comes to communication. Our desire to share ideas with each other quickly can be seen in how much we have improved it. Do we, though, do the same with our instantaneous communication that we have with God? Do we use the resource or look for the responses that God is trying to communicate with us about? Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful. | 7-16-23 - Plants Share! Does our Faith? | 10 Jul 2023 | 00:29:04
The readings this week are Genesis 25:19-34 and Psalm 119:105-112, or Isaiah 55:10-13 and Psalm 65:(1-8), 9-13, Romans 8:1-11, and Matthew 13:1-9, 18-23. This week we talk about seed dispersal and how plants communicate with each other. If we take this information and think about it with the parable of the sower and the seed, we see the need to communicate with others with their faith. If that is the case, are we making sure that we are not only working our soil but sharing and communicating with others what we can share and what we need to grow? Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful. This week we talk about how we have now physically changed the tilt of our planet due to how we are changing the amount of groundwater around the world. Are we okay with this? Are we willing to notice and admit the wrongs that we have done to our planet, and realize the effects they have in order for us to work together to solve these problems? | 2023 Gustavus Academy of Faith, Science, and Ethics | 22 Jun 2023 | 00:20:07
Dear Listeners,
After advertising and talking about it for months, I was able to attend Gustavus' Academy of Faith, Science, and Ethics for 2023. I had an amazing time interacting with this amazing group of young adults and hearing how they see Faith and Science working together and also the questions they have. I believe listening to this, it gives us a glimpse of the questions that some of the younger people in the faith are wondering about with Faith and Science. Hopefully, this encourages all of us to keep the conversation going. Thank you so much, Tyler Bublitz

| 6-25-23 - Migrating Beyond our Borders! | 19 Jun 2023 | 00:29:38 | |
The readings this week are Genesis 21:8-21 and Psalm 86:1-10, 16-17, or Jeremiah 20:7-13 and Psalm 69:7-10, (11-15), 16-18, Romans 6:1b-11, and Matthew 10:24-39. This week we looking at the Migratory Bird Treaty and how that has impacted our understanding of seeing beyond barriers. By slowly understanding how birds migrate, we start to appreciate them as a resource and see the world around us as a resource that the world benefits from. As we expand our vision, we start to see our role within the creation and gain a deeper understanding of the creator of it. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful. | 6-18-23 - Physically and Mentally Able to Do the Call | 12 Jun 2023 | 00:29:49
The readings this week are Genesis 18:1-15, (21:1-7) and Psalm 116:1-2, 12-19, or Exodus 19:2-8a and Psalm 100, Romans 5:1-8, and Matthew 9:35-10:8, (9-23). This week we look at how our mental state can prevent us from being able to recover or being able to do what God is calling us to do. We can often find ourselves in a state of putting up roadblocks that prevent us from doing what needs to be done in order for us to grow into the person that we are being called to be. This is why making sure we are also working on our mental state is very important as well. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful. | 6-11-23 -The Hard Truth of Faith and Trust | 05 Jun 2023 | 00:26:30
The readings this week are Genesis 12:1-9 and Psalm 33:1-12, or Hosea 5:15-6:6 and Psalm 50:7-15, Romans 4:13-25, and Matthew 9:9-13, 18-26. This week we look at the faith that some in the scientific community have around the Ivory-Billed Woodpecker. Though there are questions about its existence in 2023 even though there is a peer-reviewed journal article saying there is. This is much like the trust it takes for us to have faith in God in general and be able to follow the footsteps of Jesus. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful. Remember to answer this week's question: Where do you have faith to trust? | 5-18-25 - The Ecology of Love: Finding Christ in Creation's Connections | 12 May 2025 | 00:29:46
The readings for this week for the Fifth Sunday of Easter are Acts 11:1-18, Psalm 148, Revelation 21:1-6, and John 13:31-35. This week we look at walleye populations and how they are doing well in certain areas and not so well in other areas. Unfortunately, these are not in the areas where people want them to do well. Are we willing to love enough to see the issues that walleyes are going through and see how we can make a difference? Are we willing to love beyond humankind to see God's creation as part of what we need to love? Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful. The readings this week are either Genesis 1:1-2:4a, Psalm 8, 2 Corinthians 13:11-13, and Matthew 28:16-20. This week we look at how ecosystems help us understand the trinity. Our God comes in multiple ways to be able to reach us right where we are at. This is similar to how an ecosystem is made up of many types of plants and animals to make it resilient to whatever comes our way. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful. | 5-21-23 - Leaping out of what We Know! | 15 May 2023 | 00:25:30
The readings this week are either Acts 1:1-11, Psalm 47 or Psalm 93, Ephesians 1:15-23, and Luke 24:44-53 or Acts 1:6-14, Psalm 68:1-10, 32-35, 1 Peter 4:12-14; 5:6-11, and John 17:1-11. This week we look at the Frog Cycle. A frog goes through its life and gets to the point where it has to take the "leap" of faith and leave the water and everything it's known and go into the world beyond the water. We too, especially after the ascension are called into that new life as well which might mean "leaping" into something new. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful. | 5-14-23 - The Advocate Leading the Way! | 08 May 2023 | 00:28:06
The readings this week are Acts 17:22-31, Psalm 66:8-20, 1 Peter 3:13-22, and John 14:15-21. This week we look at how we can see how "the Advocate", the Holy Spirit, has been working with us for decades. An easy example of this is seeing that the breakthroughs in understanding and being able to use DNA over the last 150 years has helped us prepare for what is coming. Are we willing to see these amazing breakthroughs as something that the Holy Spirit has led us to also? Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful. The readings this week are Acts 7:55-60, Psalm 31:1-5, 15-16, 1 Peter 2:2-10, and John 14:1-14. This week we look at how succession is a part of everyday life in nature. When Jesus starts to prepare the disciples for his leaving they resist. Are we going to allow for natural succession to happen in our lives? Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful. The readings this week are Acts 2:42-47, Psalm 23, 1 Peter 2:19-25, and John 10:1-10. This week we look at how trust is a major part of creation even though as humans we struggle with this idea. We can see bats and penguins doing huge amounts of trust in their daily lives. Do we do the same with our faith with God? Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful. The readings this week are Acts 2:14a, 36-41, Psalm 116:1-4, 12-19, 1 Peter 1:17-23, and Luke 24:13-35. This week we look at an overlooked figure, along with overlooked caterpillars, and the power of music. All of these have helped us, or can help us put the pieces together. Are we going to allow ourselves to be curious so that God can then help us put pieces together that God wants to share with us? | 4-16-23 - Quantum Leaps vs Classic Understanding | 10 Apr 2023 | 00:29:57
The readings this week are Acts 2:14a, 22-32, Psalm 16, 1 Peter 1:3-9, and John 20:19-31. This week we look at how quantum computers are coming quickly and have the possibility of being able to help us solve problems that recently seemed almost impossible to do. In the same breath, many of us have a hard time understanding how classical computing works. Is this similar to what was happening with Thomas when he had his doubts about Jesus? Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful. | 4-9-23 - The Impossible becomes Possible! | 03 Apr 2023 | 00:27:47
The readings this week are Acts 10:34-43 or Jeremiah 31:1-6, Psalm 118:1-2, 14-24, Colossians 3:1-4 or Acts 10:34-43, and John 20:1-18 or Matthew 28:1-10. This week we look at how quickly we as people have made the impossible possible. We can see it simply in how we are now able to fly when 120 years ago flying was much different. Jesus Christ did this for us also in regards to our sin and we should make sure to see the power of how God made the impossible possible for us! | 4-2-23 - Crucifixion of the Environment? | 27 Mar 2023 | 00:29:22
The readings this week are Psalm 118:1-2, 19-29, and Matthew 21:1-11, or Isaiah 50:4-9a, Psalm 31:9-16, Philippians 2:5-11, and Matthew 26:14-27:66 or Matthew 27:11-54. This week we look at how quickly we forget and thus take things for granted. Do we not recognize how far we have come with our mobile technology over the last 15 years? If we can't recognize that, how are we to recognize the beauty of God's creation and actually see how we are destroying it? Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful. | 5-11-25 - Stop Underestimating; God and the Internet! | 05 May 2025 | 00:27:37
The readings for this week for the Fourth Sunday of Easter are Acts 9:36-43, Psalm 23, Revelation 7:9-17, and John 10:22-30. This week we look at how the internet started. The plan was simple and small in scope when compared to how it is used today. It has expanded greatly from when it first was used to connect some college computers. We need to make sure that we are not doing the same thing with God and arbitrarily limiting God. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful. | 3-26-23 - God’s Timing vs. Ours | 20 Mar 2023 | 00:27:35
The readings this week are Ezekiel 37:1-14, Psalm 130, Romans 8:6-11, and John 11:1-45. This week we look at how time is quite different to God then us. When God is looking at a long horizon that is over many generations, it is easy for us to miss the intent of what God is doing just looking at our here and now. It often takes a lot of time for us to understand it and we see this as a continuing trend with God. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful. The readings this week are 1 Samuel 16:1-13, Psalm 23, Ephesians 5:8-14, and John 9:1-41. This week we look at ocean plastics and how they are affecting the ecosystems around us. Are we really going to stand by and allow this to happen and be happy with the results of business as usual? Or will we allow ourselves to be like Jesus and change the culture around us? The readings this week are Exodus 17:1-7, Psalm 95, Romans 5:1-11, and John 4:5-42. This week we look at how easy it is for us to overlook things and to conveniently forget things. In doing this, it also makes it easy for us to miss the power of things going on or downplay the power of what God is doing or can do through us. The readings this week are Genesis 12:1-4a, Psalm 121, Romans 4:1-5, 13-17, and John 3:1-17 or Matthew 17:1-9. This week we look at how perspective is so important to understand as it can be a bias on how we look at the world around us. Will we allow ourselves to see beyond our own perspective, so that we might glimpse what God has in store for us? Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful. The readings this week are Genesis 2:15-17; 3:1-7, Psalm 32, Romans 5:12-19, and Matthew 4:1-11. This week we look at how we are weird to react in the ways that God wants us to. Our problem is that we often get in the way by overthinking. Can we allow ourselves to give up on our "Will" to allow "Grace" to enter in? Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful. The readings this week are Exodus 24:12-18, Psalm 2, or Psalm 99, 2 Peter 1:16-21, and Matthew 17:1-9. This week we look at how change is a part of the design that God has for everything outside of God. We often try to avoid this fact, but if you look out to nature and everything else God created, including ourselves, it changes. Why then do we fight it so much? The readings this week are Deuteronomy 30:15-20 or Sirach 15:15-20, Psalm 119:1-8, 1 Corinthians 3:1-9, and Matthew 5:21-37. This week we look at sleep and how our bodies crave sleep. Yet, we struggle in our modern society of putting aside enough time for us to get the sleep that our bodies crave so much. Do we do the same thing with God? Do we not allow ourselves to get to the messages that God has for us because we are not ready for the "solid food" that only God can provide? | 2-5-23 - Challenging our Faith and Science to Move Forward! | 30 Jan 2023 | 00:24:43
The readings this week are Isaiah 58:1-9a (9b-12), Psalm 112:1-9 (10), 1 Corinthians 2:1-12 (13-16), and Matthew 5:13-20. This week we look at how tradition can hold us back at times from being everything that God is wanting us to be. Are we allowing ourselves to let God lead us to the places that God is wanting us to be? Or would we rather go and hide from a challenge? Science is always up for a challenge and forces us to move forward, why can't faith be the same way? | 1-22-23 - Growing Together into our Calling | 16 Jan 2023 | 00:27:36
The readings this week are Isaiah 9:1-4, Psalm 27:1, 4-9, 1 Corinthians 1:10-18, and Matthew 4:12-23. This week we look at how we need to work together in order for us to live up to the calling God has for us. This often also means that we have to get out of our own way and realize the opportunities that are in front of us. Risk is going to be part of making the most of these opportunities but following God's plan is not for the faint of heart. | 5-4-25 - Evolving for a Purpose: What Carnivorous Plants Teach Us About Calling | 28 Apr 2025 | 00:26:38
The readings for this week for the Third Sunday of Easter are Acts 9:1-6, (7-20), Psalm 30, Revelation 5:11-14, and John 21:1-19. This week we look at carnivorous plants. These plants have had to adapt to poor soil conditions where nutrients are at a premium, these plants have evolved to figure out ways to survive. They adapted to these conditions. Jesus' disciples had to adapt to the new conditions of Jesus no longer being there and transitioning to leading the movement. We all need to continue to learn how we can continue to evolve and change as well in our ministries. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful. | 1-15-23 - Come and See what You will Discover | 09 Jan 2023 | 00:26:50
The readings this week are Isaiah 49:1-7, Psalm 40:1-11, 1 Corinthians 1:1-9, and John 1:29-42. This week we look at how we have to have the faith to be able to see the potential in something even if it is quite large and we might not fully understand it. Then when we have done that, we must allow ourselves to keep exploring and be willing to go deeper to discover more than we originally thought. That is the "come and see" of faith and in science as well! Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful. Remember to answer this week's question: When is or has your curiosity allowed you to look beyond where you are at? #FaithandSciPod If you're wanting to hear another podcast on these texts check out: 1-19-20 - Finding the Messengers I look forward to all of your feedback, Tyler Bublitz Music March On by Silent Partner Porches and Universes by Puddle of Infinity Social Media Twitter: @FaithandSciPod Facebook Group: Faith and Science Podcast Group Facebook Company Page: The Faith and Science Podcast LinkedIn: Faith and Science Podcast References: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giant_Magellan_Telescope https://www.dw.com/en/exotic-particles-discovered-large-hadron-collider/a-62370434 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2K7hKscXPys https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Large_Hadron_Collider#Background https://home.cern/science/accelerators/large-hadron-collider https://www.skyatnightmagazine.com/space-science/spacex-starlink-problem-astronomy/

| 1-8-23 - The Power within Water | 02 Jan 2023 | 00:28:03 | |
The readings this week are Isaiah 42:1-9, Psalm 29, Acts 10:34-43, and Matthew 3:13-17. This week we look at the power within water in all it's forms. Yet, it also is used to clean and sustain us while being a symbol of God's forgiveness for us. Quite amazing when you think about it. Thanks again for taking the time out to listen to this and I hope this is a tool that you find useful. Remember to answer this week's question: How often, when you interact with water, do you think about baptism in your forgiveness? #FaithandSciPodIf you're wanting to hear another podcast on these texts check out: I look forward to all of your feedback, Tyler Bublitz Music March On by Silent Partner Porches and Universes by Puddle of Infinity Social Media Twitter: @FaithandSciPod References: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVT3Y3_gHGg&t=1s https://extension.tennessee.edu/publications/Documents/W253.pdf https://www.amazon.com/HarperCollins-Study-Bible-Student-Revised/dp/0060786841 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=huT5__BqY_U&t=1s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKU2E0N8ja4 https://www.wood-database.com/cedar-of-lebanon/ https://www.thespruce.com/janka-wood-flooring-hardness-rating-chart-1821655 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOT375x8t4E https://www.cnn.com/2022/12/25/weather/christmas-arctic-winter-storm-power-outages-sunday/index.html https://www.newsweek.com/us-states-facing-power-outages-christmas-day-1769535 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1Thn1Slko8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pE7jkBAN34 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBvb2pT6hGk https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steam_engine https://tcf.org/content/report/coping-water-scarcity-jordan-river-basin/ https://www.livescience.com/62621-why-is-ice-slippery.html https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZV8gM2_MFQ
