| Picture This #35 | The Best of 1927/28 | 28 Mar 2024 | 02:08:47 | |
We’re back with "PICTURE THIS," an exploration through every Best Picture nominee ever. This month, hosts Dylan Randazzo and Chadwick Webb are looking at the nominees of 1927/28 (for the 1929 ceremony). That was the first ever Oscars ceremony, in which there were TWO Best Picture categories: "Outstanding Picture" and "Unique and Artistic Picture." So we decided to check out all of the films nominated for both categories. In the "Outstanding Picture" category, we have "7th Heaven," "The Racket," and "Wings," and for the "Unique and Artistic Picture" category, we have "Chang," "The Crowd," and "Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans." We break down each nominee individually, discuss some other notable 1927/28 movies, and in the end, we will rank the nominees ourselves to determine OUR Best Picture winner of 1927/28. We will also award prizes to our best actors and actresses of these six films. Also, make sure to stick around for the end, where we will announce NEXT month's year in Oscars history. | Post-Festival 2024 Oscar Predictions (November 2023) | 15 Dec 2023 | 00:45:14
The major festivals are over, so it's time to assess the Oscar nomination race as of late. With films like American Fiction, Origin, and All of Us Strangers on the rise, is there bound to be a major upset or two in our midst? Has Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon hitting theatres helped or hurt its frontrunner status? Is Past Lives still A24's best bet? Does Billie Eilish get in WITH the Ken song, or do the Oscars break our hearts by only picking one? Find out my predictions now! | Director Roulette Draft Day! | 15 Dec 2023 | 03:35:25
Welcome to our seventeenth episode of DRAFT DAY, where we take a topic and draft through a specific range of categories pertaining to the overall topic. This month's topic is DIRECTOR ROULETTE, where we will draft a film from 5 directors' filmographies, but the twist is that those directors will be revealed as the first round progresses, so none of us know which directors we will have to pick movies from. On the panel, we have Dyl Pickle Movie Network hosts Matt Chapmond (Framewreck) and Chad Webb (Picture This), as well as returning guests JD Domash and Commentatoring Nerd. If you want to VOTE for a winner in this draft, go to the Dyl Pickle Movie Network Facebook Group and vote in the poll posted following the airing of the draft. https://m.facebook.com/groups/328972969304525/?ref=share&mibextid=S66gvF Make sure to subscribe to The Dyl Pickle Movie Network on YouTube for more reviews, videos, and more!
