They’ve had 99 drone problems and (literally) swimming through a river in which every restaurant toilet empties out into was one of them.  These are some of the craziest drone stories I’ve heard. From drone crashes, to getting spare parts sent to remote islands (accidentally delivered the day after they’ve left), drones getting stolen, or controllers running out of batteries, literally NOTHING is stopping this content creating power couple Danni and Fede  @scratchyourmapa  from flying their drone.

She started flying drones in 2015 and on day 2 of flying her drone she accidentally triggered the propellor auto shut off while the drone was in flight. Not only was she able to save her drone, but she went on to teach and use her drones to map ocean projects as a marine biologist.

Meet Mia of Mia On The Map! She won my drone contest in 2021 and I flew her out to Florida to give her my Mavic Air 2 and teach her EVERYTHING I know about flying drones over an all expenses paid weekend.

Dennard Jackson lost interest in drones after he flew a cheap toy drone back in 2016, but later realized that “real drones” are totally different. Inspired by the point of view a drone is capable of capturing, Dennard of Destination Unknown Travels got the Mavic Air 1.

His first flight was also his first crash while he was traveling in Ireland, but it wasn’t his scariest flight. His crash in the woods required sending his drone to get fixed.

Fast forward, he now flies the Mavic Mini 1 and I’ve had the opportunity to fly with him in Sarasota Florida and the Bahamas.

There is no easier way to get an establishing shot than using a drone. Meet Jacob Sigala, a photographer, filmmaker and creative director. His first drone was the Mavic 1 Pro in 2016 and his first flight happened while he was traveling in Iceland.

Amazing right?

Not really if you’re trying to figure out how to operate the drone AND you’ve got windy conditions. He was not prepared, his drone did NOT fly the way he expected it to, but I applaud him because he did it anyway (and kept trying!!) even in windy and challenging situations.

Deciding to fly the drone is half the battle.

She lives in a van (she’s built herself), is an adventure tour guide and a general badass (who’s been on my Everyday Badassery podcast)
