Part 1: Smuggler’s Highway: Southern Border’s Escape Route29 Oct 202400:39:17

Dr. Phil goes on a drive-along with Sheriffs on Arizona’s “Smuggler’s Highway”. This border situation has become a political powder keg, with both sides of the aisle using it as ammunition in this upcoming election in just a few weeks. But tonight, we’re focusing on the Arizona border.

With 378 miles of shared border with Mexico, divided into the Tucson and Yuma sectors, Dr. Phil meets up with Sheriff Mark Lamb who offers to take him on a “drive-along” on that stretch of road where high-speed chases happen every day putting everyone on the road at risk. And sometimes, it ends tragically. Take the story of Wanda Sitoski. Her daughter, Valarie sits down with Dr. Phil to talk about how her mother’s life was cut short when a 16-year-old American smuggler running from the law crashed right into her…killing her instantly. And Dr. Phil meets Cochise County Sheriff Mark Dannels who says he and his team are trying to protect 6219 square miles of rugged terrain. Plus our camera crew goes on a dangerous chase with Sheriff Dannels Interdiction Team. Thank you to our sponsor:

There is a considerable shift in how Giuliani is viewed by the public, with approval ratings plummeting and widespread media criticism. He attributes this to his association with Trump and the subsequent political fallout. Rudy talks about his disbarment, the appeal process and the impact on his professional reputation. Giuliani is hopeful to remain impactful in American politics and is looking towards the future. He feels he can use his investigative skills to support Trump and fight perceived corruption.

Parents? Teachers? Bureaucrats? – Who Can Fix The Education System In America?06 Dec 202200:58:34

Sadly, the interest to become a teacher or remain a teacher is the worst in our nation’s history. We’ll tackle the teacher shortage, low standards, student whining, and new requirements in states like AZ & FL that passed what critics call the “warm body” law to put unqualified people in classrooms as teachers. Other states are pushing universities to expedite teacher certifications. Some districts are hiring student teachers who are still enrolled in college to be full-time first-year teachers. Dr. Ingrid Haynes-Traylor served two decades in P-12 public education as a teacher and administrator and now serves as the Director of the National Literacy Institute. She also teaches bachelor's, master's, and doctoral level literacy courses and has published books and numerous journal articles on literacy instruction. She actively researches best practices in literacy instruction for at-risk student groups and conducts literacy training and workshops across the nation to build instructional capacity in teachers who teach our most fragile learners.

Zero Victim!08 Nov 202201:01:24

Victimhood culture, a concept that originates in sociology, is today defined as a tendency of people to over-emphasize the need to protect their (sexual, gender, ethnic) identity and to present themselves as victims, even if the alleged offense was minor or only imagined. My guest today, PASTOR JAMES WARD, says that the “core conviction to overcome is the first step to shifting from victim to zero victim thinking.” We are discussing Pastor James’ book “Zero Victim: Overcoming Injustice with a New Attitude” and ways we can get out of victimhood.

Pushing Back On ‘Harm Reduction’ Policies25 Oct 202200:44:03

“Harm reduction” is a theory that argues deaths from overdoses can be greatly reduced with the implementation of strategies that allow people with drug dependency access to drugs in a safe way. Michael Shellenberger, author of “San Fransicko: Why Progressives Ruin Cities,” says, ”There is no safe use of these drugs.”

On this episode of the Phil in the Blanks podcast, Dr. Phil’s guest, Michael Shellenberger, discusses the ways in which he claims harm reduction policies emphasize personal liberties but ignore personal responsibility.

Sen. Scott Wiener Discusses ‘Safe Sites’ For Drug Addicts To Use

California State Senator Scott Wiener joins Dr. Phil on his Phil in the Blanks podcast to discuss “safe sites” for drug addicts to use. Senator Wiener, who wrote Senate Bill 57, which would have legalized safe consumption sites in San Francisco, Oakland, Los Angeles and Los Angeles County, shares why he says he considers this to be life-saving legislation – and why he thinks Governor Newsom vetoed it.

“We have tried arresting people, incarcerating people, and for some, that works,” Senator Wiener says. “But for most people, it doesn’t. That’s what safe consumption sites are about – first and foremost, making sure people don’t die.”

Diving Into The Homeless Crisis In America04 Oct 202200:58:22

California has the highest number of homeless encampments in the United States and holds more than half of all unsheltered homeless people. In an effort to resolve homelessness, major cities across the U.S., including Los Angeles, Portland, Austin, Houston, and San Francisco, are passing bills that will effectively ban homeless encampments from certain areas. However, homeless advocates argue banning and sweeping homeless encampments is inhumane, doesn’t solve the problem, and will ultimately create even bigger issues.

Dr. Phil speaks with Donald Whitehead, Executive Director of the National Coalition for the Homeless, on his Phil in the Blanks podcast to dig deeper into this crisis.

“If we give them a hand-up – not a handout – we can really change the direction of this country,” says Whitehead, who has worked for years advocating for systemic change to end homelessness.

2 Years Later: Have Views On Black Lives Changed?01 Mar 202200:31:40

Dr. Phil devotes his platform to analyzing how life has changed for Black Americans in the almost two years since the tragic deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd, and the subsequent widespread Black Lives Matter protests demanding racial equality. Dr. Phil meets professor Dr. Shaun Harper from USC, who says that while he remains an optimist, he claims to have not seen nearly enough effective change in society to start the process of creating equality and justice between Black and white Americans. Former BLM activist Rashad Turner says he quit the movement because, according to him, they did not prioritize education for Black children. Dr. Phil also meets the President of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers, Lydia Pope, who says Black people still don’t have equity in lending or in many other areas that govern us. Then, anti-racist attorney Natasha Scruggs joins the conversation and says Black communities are fighting on a daily basis to achieve equality and a better life for their children. Plus, white ally Allison Mahaley joins the conversation with what she believes white people should understand. Listen in while Rashad and Natasha engage in a spirited conversation about what needs to change in the Black community for equity to be realized. And, Dr. Phil visits a Black-owned, Black-run restaurant in South Los Angeles, Alta Adams, to break bread with owner and chef Keith Corbin, who says being a Black business owner is as challenging as it is rewarding.
