A Conversation with Julia Johnson - The chicken and the egg05 May 202500:37:10

In this episode of Digestible, Staci and Melissa speak with Julia Johnson, Head of Food Business USA for Compassion in World Farming (www.ciwf.com).  Julia guides our listeners through the life of many farm animals in our country.  She discusses the history of our food system as it relates to our food derived from animals, how things have changed, and how there are many successful efforts to improve the welfare and lives of the animals raised for food.  The discussion also covers how that might affect the taste and nutritional value of the meat raised humanely versus meat raised in factory farm settings.  And she guides us through the grocery store so that on our next visit, we can identify meat that has been raised in humane conditions, with a healthy diet, and therefore, is better for our bodies and peace of mind.

This interview was split into 2 parts: Part 1, Julia covers Chicken and Eggs.  In Part 2, she will guide us with Beef, Pork, Dairy and Fish.
