| Michkov lands in Philly, Oilers Hire Bowman & Blue Jackets choose Evason | 29 Jul 2024 | 00:50:55 | |
Frank and Jason are back after taking a few weeks off to enjoy their summers. While news hasn’t come in at any sort of rapid pace, there have still been some big stories that have dropped over the last two weeks and the guys wanted to pop on the podcast to break everything down. To start the show, they talked about what they’ve been up to so far during their summer breaks and both of them have been dialled into the 2024 summer games. They talked about their favourite events so far and Gregor talked about trying to do a little bit of diving on his own. To kick off the hockey talk, they dug into what’s been going on in Philadelphia so over the last week or so. After months of uncertainty, Matvei Michkov finally landed on American soil and will be with the Flyers for next season. It will no doubt give the team a big boost but Frank says that fans needs to be cautious when it comes to their expectations of the young Russian forward. GM Danny Briere also extended Travis Konecny, giving the forward an eight-year deal. Both Frank and Jason like the player, but did the Flyers pay too much for what his ceiling is? From there, they got into another Eastern Conference team that has been making moves: the Columbus Blue Jackets. They’ve signed a handful of young players and also filled their Head Coaching vacancy by hiring former Wild Head Coach Dean Evason. Can the team take a step forward next season? Or will there be more pain coming in Ohio? The other big story that broke last week was up in Edmonton, where the Oilers announced that Stan Bowman will be their new General Manager. This was a controversial decision by the Oilers and Frank wanted to explain why he thinks Bowman deserves a second chance. Tyler also popped in for a new edition of Fill in the Blank where he talked about the trade market, Patrik Laine’s future, and coaching hot seats heading into next season. 6:05 - Flyers make moves (Konecny, Michkov) 15:55 - Blue Jackets hire Evason 18:50 - Bowman lands in Edmonton 28:50 - Fill in the Blank (Laine, Necas, coaching hot seats) Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? | Recapping a wild week of offseason moves | 08 Jul 2024 | 01:01:54
After a quick one-week hiatus for the holidays, Jason and Frank are back with a fresh episode of the DFO Rundown as they look back at the week that was around the NHL. To start things off, they looked back at the early stages of free agency and gave a few teams that stuck out in both a positive and negative way. Both the guys really like what the New Jersey Devils have done so far this summer and that led Frank to make a very bold prediction about how next season will play out for the Devils. They also talked about the busy few days for the Washington Capitals, who got very aggressive in their attempt to re-tool their roster. On the negative side of things, they had takes on both the Carolina Hurricanes and Ottawa Senators, who both made some puzzling moves. They then got into the Steven Stamkos situation. The Lightning couldn’t find common ground with their long-time Captain and now, he’s off to Tennessee to join the Nashville Predators. Frank says the Bolts have made a huge mistake and Gregor agreed. Have the Lightning lost the plot a little bit? The guys discussed. They also hit on the New York Islanders and Buffalo Sabres before talking about a few of the more active teams out West. The Predators obviously came away from the day feeling like winners while the Utah Hockey Club did a great job building up their blueline in just a couple of hours on day two of the draft. Tyler then popped in with a new edition of Buy or Sell where he asked the guys about the two teams in Alberta and who they have as their Stanley Cup favourite out in the Eastern Conference. 5:10 - Free Agency standouts (Devils, Hurricanes) 10:00 - The Capitals' big load up 15:55 - Stamkos leaves Tampa 22:30 - Were the Sabres too quiet? 25:00 - McLeod for Savoie trade 34:50 - Who had the best summer in the West? | The Stanley Cup Final is Set | 03 Jun 2024 | 00:44:28
The 2024 Stanley Cup Final matchup is set as both the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers punched their tickets to the big dance with victories on home ice this weekend. Jason and Frank started the podcast with a quick conversation about how these two teams stack up against each other. On the other side of the big wins of course are two gut-punch losses for the New York Rangers and Dallas Stars. The Rangers core seems pretty set and they should run it back, but GM Chris Drury has some tough calls to make when it comes to extending a few young players. On the other side, the Dallas Stars have a few older players, like Joe Pavelski and Matt Duchene, who they need to make decisions on. The guys debated that. From there, they circled back to the Panthers and talked about what makes them successful. Are they similar to Dallas? Or do they present different challenges to the Oilers? Tyler also swung by for a new edition of Buy or Sell where he asked the guys about when the NHL season starts, touching the Conference Finals trophies, and which team the guys are watching the closest heading into the summer. Tyler is keeping an eye on the Blackhawks while both Jason and Frank had different answers. To end the show, they gave their Stanley Cup Final picks. 1:15 - The Stanley Cup Final is set 7:35 - Rangers & Stars road ahead 21:50 - The Panthers' strengths 26:00 - Importance of a strong blueline 31:40 - Buy or Sell 37:00 - Who to watch this summer? 41:45 - Stanley Cup Final picks Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? | It's time for the Coyotes to leave Arizona | 18 May 2023 | 01:00:40
The Conference Finals are finally getting underway after a few days off. Jason and Frank eventually got to previewing the two series that will decide who ultimately battles for The Stanley Cup but first, they had to dive into the story that has been dominating the hockey world for the past 72 hours: the Arizona Coyotes arena drama. The league says they’re going back to The Mullett Arena for the 2023-24 season, but why? Frank says it’s not a long-term fix and the league needs to move on and Jason agreed. He also gave his thoughts on some of the rumoured landing spots should the Coyotes finally leave the desert. Frank also had some new info on General Manager openings in Calgary and Pittsburgh. He thinks they could have their new hires in place by this time next week. Jason thinks the Flame's next GM is already in their front office and explained why Craig Conroy would be a great choice to be their next GM. Tyler Yaremchuk joined the show to talk with the guys about the upcoming Conference Finals. He got the guys to fill in the rest of the bracket and also asked them about who’s the front-runner to win the Conn Smyth trophy. 1:10 - Coyotes arena drama 16:00 - Latest on open GM jobs 25:35 - Open Head Coaching jobs 32:20 - Fill in the Blank 43:40 - Canes vs Panthers preview Hosted on Acast. | What changes are coming in Edmonton & Toronto? | 15 May 2023 | 00:56:13
The Stanley Cup will stay south of the border for another season. Both the Edmonton Oilers and Toronto Maple Leafs were eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs over the weekend and now, changes could be coming in both of those markets. Frank started the pod off by talking about a move that could be happening in Edmonton at the managerial level. Gregor took a look at what went wrong for the Oilers in their series against the Golden Knights. Was it a problem of depth? Were their big guns not good enough? The two debated that. In Toronto, it seems like there could be even bigger changes. General Manager Kyle Dubas and Head Coach Sheldon Keefe are on the hot seat and we could know within 48 hours whether or not they’ll be back. The guys also talked about the roster that the Leafs have and who could be moved this summer. There are also GM openings in Calgary and Pittsburgh. Frank gave an update on those two situations and talked about the move that the Philadelphia Flyers made last week. Tyler also jumped in with Fill in the Blank brought to you by Betano. He asked the guys about some other organizations that could make GM changes and some players who will be unrestricted free agents in July. To wrap up the show, Frank and Jason talked about the future of the Arizona Coyotes with their arena vote looming. 0:40 - Oilers eliminated 16:45 - Changes in Toronto? 29:15 - Flames & Penguins GM searches 32:20 - Flyers changes up top 34:05 - Fill in the Blank 45:10 - Coyotes arena vote 50:05 - Kraken vs Stars 53:55 - Senators ownership Hosted on Acast. | A New Era in Philly & A Playoff Update | 11 May 2023 | 00:47:19
The Stanley Cup Playoffs continue to roll along and every series is going to see a fifth game. The Toronto Maple Leafs were in danger of being swept last night but gutted out a victory in their series. The Carolina Hurricanes can be the first team to move on with a win tonight. Out west, each series is a best-of-three and with almost every game between them being a blowout, it’s hard to tell who has the edge. Frank and Jason broke down all those series but first, they talked about Keith Jones and Danny Briere being brought in to run the hockey ops department in Philly. It’s a new era for the Flyers, but will it lead to a quick turnaround or will this be a long rebuild in the City of Brotherly Love? Frank also talked about his experience being sequestered at the NHL Draft Lottery. He raved about the drama behind the scenes and also assured fans that the process is not rigged. That led to some talk about Bedard becoming a Blackhawk and what GM Kyle Davidson could do this summer to try and get the generational talent some help next season. They wrapped up the pod with some talk about Canes forward Jordan Martinook and his incredible second round. Frank also talked about the lack of drama in round two. 0:40 - New era in Philly 8:40 - Oilers vs Golden Knights 19:40 - Draft lottery 26:50 - Buy or Sell 37:10 - Leafs vs Panthers 39:20 - Martinook: The unexpected hero Hosted on Acast. | The Draft Lottery & The Leafs 3-0 Deficit | 08 May 2023 | 01:02:43
The Stanley Cup playoffs continued to be widely unpredictable as the Seattle Kraken and Florida Panthers just can’t stop winning. Frank and Jason dug into how each of the four second-round series are looking today on the podcast but first, with the draft lottery going tonight they started things off by spinning the wheel at tankathon.com and talking about potential landing spots for Connor Bedard. Tonight will be a franchise-defining moment for one NHL team. We also got news over the weekend that the New York Rangers and Gerard Gallant have mutually decided to part ways, which Gregor said was a polite way of saying he’s been fired. Who are some potential candidates to replace him in ‘The Big Apple’? Frank gave some possibilities and Jason had a strong take on who should be the Ranger's next Head Coach. There very well could be a coaching change coming in Toronto as well. The Leafs find themselves down 3-0 to the Florida Panthers in their second-round series. What’s been the biggest problem for Toronto? Their stars have disappeared, their depth looks weak, and goaltending hasn’t been great. The list is long and there could be big changes if the Leafs get bounced. They also hit on the other series in the Eastern Conference and the two out west before getting to Tyler Yaremchuk, who had some fresh ‘Fill in the Blank’ questions ready for the guys. 0:45 - Draft lottery goes tonight 16:30 - Rangers move on from Gallant 23:05 - Leafs down 3-0 38:45 - Kraken up 2-1 on Dallas 42:20 - Devils vs Hurricanes 44:20 - Fill in the Blank Hosted on Acast. | Playoff talk & a draft preview with Craig Button | 04 May 2023 | 01:01:56
As the Stanley Cup playoffs continued into Round 2, we picked up right where we left off. Only this time around, if a player finds the back of the net four times in one game, it might not guarantee a win for their team. It’s safe to say that the 2023 Playoffs have been full of drama and excitement thus far. Breaking down the start of Round 2, Frank and Jason started the show by reviewing the four matchups ongoing in the league. Taking a look inside the Western and Eastern Conference, the guys shared their analysis after witnessing each game one. Later on, in the show, Craig Button of the Kool Button podcast and TSN joined the show. By sharing his draft expertise, Craig was able to share how Connor Bedard compares to the other top NHL prospects in this draft year. With there being some high-profile forwards in the draft class this year, Craig gave some praise to some notable Defencemen. Craig also shared with Frank and Jason some names that may be considered a mid-round gem, as he shed light on how teams can find elite talent in the middle rounds of the NHL draft. Where is Connor Bedard going to play next season? That is one question that each lottery team looks forward to as we get closer to the Draft Lottery. To finish off, Craig shared which NHL franchise would be the ideal spot for Connor Bedard as he enters the league. 0:40 - 4 Goal Games 4:06 - Western Conference Round 2 Update 11:00 - Eastern Conference Round 2 Update 24:22 - Craig Button Joins the Show 25:06 - Bedard vs Other Top Draft Prospects 28:28 - Risk Factors in Drafting 35:20 - Top Defencemen prospects 41:12 - Drafting Goalies in Top Rounds 47:40 - Mid-Round Gems 56:41 - Craig’s Ideal Team for Connor Bedard Hosted on Acast. | Historic Upsets & What's Next in Boston? | 01 May 2023 | 01:03:40
What. A. First. Round. The opening series in the Stanley Cup Playoffs lived up to the hype and then some. Sunday night alone saw the team that just set the record for most wins in a regular season lose on home ice, in overtime nonetheless, and the defending Stanley Cup Champions lost to the youngest franchise in the league. How did those two teams pull of historic upsets? Frank and Jason started the show by digging into those two series and talking about what could happen over the summer for both the Bruins and Avalanche. There is still one series still going right now. The Rangers and Devils will play game seven tonight and the guys also broke that down before continuing to go through the rest of the first round results. They hit on both the Oilers and Maple Leafs moving on to round two and predicted whether or not they can go even deeper. To wrap things up, they talked about the comments made by Winnipeg Jets Head Coach Rick Bowness and the players reaction to it. Tyler Yaremchuk also popped in for a fresh edition of Buy or Sell. 1:30 - Panthers upset Bruins 10:50 - Kraken take down Avs 16:45 - Devils vs Rangers Game 7 20:35 - Leafs end drought 31:40 - Cane’s second round opponent 34:20 - Stars vs Kraken preview 35:45 - Oilers vs Golden Knights 41:00 - Bowness calls out Jets 49:15 - Kings summer ahead 52:32 - Wild summer ahead Hosted on Acast. | Every team is still alive & we have a new trade targets board | 27 Apr 2023 | 00:52:10
We are on our fifth podcast of the Stanley Cup Playoffs and every single team is still alive. Now, that could all change tonight and that’s where Jason and Frank started today on the show. The Leafs can put away the Lightning tonight in game five of their series. If they lose tonight, how much pressure shifts onto their shoulders? They debated that. The Winnipeg Jets are also trying to stay alive tonight in their series against the Golden Knights. The Jets are hurting right now with multiple key players out of the lineup, can they still pull off the improbable comeback against the Golden Knights? From there, they talked about Matt Tkachuk’s heroics last night in game five between the Bruins and Panthers. Frank says that Tkachuk is a top-five player in the NHL, but Gregor disagrees. They also talked about the other series going on right now. The Devils have won back-to-back games and now have a chance to take a 3-2 series lead over a Rangers team that is showing some serious flaws. Tyler also popped in for Fill in the Blank, where he asked the guys about Frank’s first trade targets board of the offseason. They talked about Erik Karlsson, JT Miller, and more names on Frank's list. They also looked at the updated series odds on Betano.ca. 0:50 - Maple Leafs vs Bolts 13:20 - Jets trying to stay alive 17:08 - Panthers stay alive 24:58 - Avs on the brink 29:40 - Stars vs Wild & Oilers vs Kings 32:05 - Isles force game six 34:40 - Fill in the Blank Hosted on Acast. | Breaking down one week of playoff hockey | 24 Apr 2023 | 00:50:17
Jason and Frank are back with a fresh episode of The DFO Rundown and with one week of playoff hockey in the books, they had plenty to break down. Pretty much every series has been producing some intriguing storylines but officiating has stood out across the board. They started today's show by talking about the impact that the referees have been having so far in the postseason and they debated whether or not the league should allow the media to speak to officials after a game. From there, they talked about the Leafs and Lightning series, which got extra spicy in game three. Does this Leaf's team look different than the team in years past? Or are they doomed for the same fate? The other two Canadian teams have had interesting weeks as well. The Jets are very much in their series against the Golden Knights, but can they overcome the loss of Josh Morrissey? The Oilers had a wild comeback victory to even up their series against the Kings, do they have what it takes to win what is now a best-of-three? Frank and Jason talked about that and went through some updated series odds courtesy of Betano.ca Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
| What's Happening in Calgary & Stanley Cup Playoff Controversies | 20 Apr 2023 | 00:53:45 | |
We are through three nights in the Stanley Cup Playoffs and there is no shortage of storylines. Frank and Jason went through every series and where things stand right now, but first they dug into what’s going on in Calgary. Frank explained what happened behind the scenes and why Brad Treliving decided to move on after almost a decade in the GM chair. They then got into the big storylines from the playoffs starting with the goaltending controversy brewing down in Minnesota. After winning game one, the Wild switched up their starting goaltender and then got smoked in game two. Frank thinks this was the right decision and wondered if more teams will start looking at things the way the Wild do. That wasn’t the only controversial topic from night three. A missed call in overtime between the Hurricanes and Islanders had Isles fans up in arms. Leafs fans are also upset that Michael Bunting was given a three game suspension. Frank and Jason actually sided with Leafs fans on this one, saying that they thought the punishment was too harsh. They wrapped it up by talking about the teams that are in danger of going down 2-0 despite having home ice advantage. Which team needs a win the most? They gave their thoughts. They also brought in Tyler for a fresh edition of Buy or Sell. 1:05 - What happened in Calgary? 9:10 - The Wild goalie controversey 15:06 - Panthers vs Bruins 17:58 - Canes/Islanders 26:55 - Bunting suspension 34:25 - Favorites going down 2-0 43:00 - Buy or Sell Hosted on Acast. | Western Conference Playoff Preview | 17 Apr 2023 | 00:55:17
Part two of our playoff preview is up now and after going through all four Eastern Conference matchups in episode 209, Jason and Frank turned their attention to the Western Conference where there are some very, very tantalizing matchups. Before they got into that though, they did talk about a few coaching changes that were made over the last week. Both Anaheim and Columbus made changes behind the bench and now there are two openings in spots where Connor Bedard could land. That led to some lottery talk now that the odds are finalized. They finally jumped into the playoff previews, starting with the conference’s top seed, the Vegas Golden Knights, taking on the Winnipeg Jets. Can Connor Hellebuyck steal this series? Can Jack Eichel take a step forward in his first-ever playoff appearance? They debated these two questions. Moving along, they dug into the Avs vs Kraken matchup which is a series that Frank thinks has sweep potential. It’s the first taste of playoff hockey for the Kraken and that fan base will be rocking for their home games, that’s the main reason why Gregor thinks they will steal at least one game from the Avs. The Oilers and Kings will also be meeting in a rematch of their epic first-round series from last year. In their 2022 series, Connor McDavid averaged two points per game. Can the Kings slow him down? Even if they do, the Oilers depth might be good enough to power them through according to Jason. To wrap it up, they hit on the Wild and Stars, a series that might be the most evenly matched of the four. Jason and Frank outlined the keys to victory on either side of that matchup. Tyler also popped in with his picks and a new edition of Buy or Sell. 0:40 - CBJ & ANA Head Coaching changes 13:25 - Golden Knights vs Jets 17:30 - Avalanche vs Kraken 23:05 - Oilers vs Kings 35:30 - Stars vs Wild Hosted on Acast. | Who Has The Edge in Each Conference Final? | 30 May 2024 | 00:47:37
The 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs just keep on getting better and better. Both the Eastern and Western Conference Finals are down to best-of-three’s and there has been a lot of drama in each series. Both Frank and Jason were out in Edmonton last night as the Oilers came from behind to win Game 4 against the Dallas Stars. There were plenty of positives to pull from the victory for the Oilers and on the other side, the Stars were dealt a massive blow as Chris Tanev didn’t play the third period after blocking a shot. Frank talked about how significant that loss could be. They also praised Head Coach Kris Knoblauch for his timely adjustments ahead of the game. Out East, the series is tied 2-2 heading back to MSG for Game 5. The Panthers have undoubtedly been the better team but Igor Shesterkin has evened things out and kept the Rangers in a lot of these games. Jason also praised the strong play of Alexis Lafreniere while also talking about how badly the Rangers need their star forwards to find their games. They also took a look at the coaching market as the Seattle Kraken officially introduced Dan Bylsma as their second Head Coach in franchise history. That means the San Jose Sharks are the only team with a vacancy behind their bench. Tyler returned to the show for a new edition of Fill in the Blank presented by Wendys. He asked the guys about a couple of the more interesting names that popped up on Frank’s first Trade Targets board of the offseason. 3:30 - Oilers grab momentum 12:40 - Can the Rangers find their game? 20:00 - Benn’s impact & Hintz’s return 25:50 - Kraken hire Bylsma Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? | Eastern Conference Playoff Preview | 15 Apr 2023 | 00:47:15
Part one of our Stanley Cup Playoff preview is here. Frank and Jason went through every series in the Eastern Conference today on the podcast. Before they got into the playoff talk though, they did hit on the sweeping changes that occurred in Pittsburgh on Friday with Ron Hextall, Brian Burke, and Chris Pryor all being fired after the franchise’s 16-year playoff streak ended. Could the Penguins be eyeing up Kyle Dubas to be their next General Manager? Frank answered that question on the show. They also quickly hit on changes that could come in Ottawa and Calgary. They then jumped into the playoff previews, starting with the top-seeded Boston Bruins, who set multiple records during the regular season. Will it be a waste of eight days for the Florida Panthers, or do they have a shot at winning this series? Frank and Jason broke down if an upset is possible. They then moved on to the series that a lot of people think could feature an upset. The Islanders got into the playoffs in the final days of the regular season and now, they’re facing a Hurricanes team that hasn’t been playing their best hockey down the stretch. Jason thinks an upset can happen but Frank isn’t taking the bait. They also hit on the rematch between the Maple Leafs and Lightning, and whether or not the Leafs can exercise their demons and finally move on. The Bolts are hurting right now, but can they flip the switch for the playoffs. They wrapped it up with the ‘Battle of the Hudson River’ between the Rangers and the Devils. The two were once again split on who they thought were going to win this one 1:00 - Penguins clean house 8:20 - Bruins vs Panthers 16:20 - Hurricanes vs Islanders 22:40 - Maple Leafs vs Lightning 30:05 - Devils vs Rangers 34:50 - Fill in The Blank Hosted on Acast. | Playoff Races & the Karlsson Norris argument | 10 Apr 2023 | 01:01:56
The final week of the regular season is here and there is still a lot left undecided. Frank and Jason did eventually get into the playoff races, but they started off by talking about who’s in the driver seat in the race for Connor Bedard. Coming in last only gives a team a roughly 25% chance of landing the first overall pick, but there are a lot of fan bases hoping their favorite teams lose out this week and increase their chances of landing the Regina Pats forward. Last night, the Boston Bruins set the record for most wins in a season. Frank thinks this record has an asterisk next to it and explained why. Jason fought back a little bit on that. They also butted heads during their awards talk, specifically around San Jose Shark’s defenceman Erik Karlsson and his Norris Trophy chances. Things got heated as they debated how much voters should value points in the race. They then got into the playoff races for each conference. Pittsburgh and Calgary are both in big trouble, do either have a chance? Frank and Jason debated that before getting into some of the seeding races. There is only one series that’s already determined, so there is a lot to play for in the next five days. Tyler Yaremchuk then jumped on for Buy or Sell, which started off with a very cheesy debate. They then got into some of the spicy quotes we got this weekend from Bo Horvat and Chris Wideman. They wrapped it up with some talk about how many 60-goal scorers we could see next season. 2:40 - Bedard Watch 4:30 - Bruins record season 14:20 - Awards talk 32:10 - Playoff races 49:15 - Buy or Sell Hosted on Acast. | The playoff races, injury problems & breakout players | 07 Apr 2023 | 00:59:36
Jason and Frank are back with episode 207 of The DFO Rundown, brought to you by Betano.ca. To start things off today, Frank outlined a new piece he’s working on for the site that goes into the total amount that teams spend on players. The salary cap was supposed to mean that all teams spend the same on players, but that’s not the case. Frank told us who the biggest spenders are around the league and Jason gave his take on how that correlates to winning. Injuries are a big story right now around the league with both the Avalanche and Lightning, last year’s Stanley Cup Finalists, dealing with a barrage of injuries. Cale Makar, Tanner Jeannot, and others could be missing as those two teams prepare for their first-round series. Frank and Jason broke down all those situations and talked about the Bolt’s first-round matchup against the Maple Leafs, which is now locked in. They also hit on the Eastern Conference playoff race today on the show. The Penguins are limping to the finish line while the Panthers continue their red-hot play. Who’s going to get it? They gave their thoughts on that and also talked about some higher seeds that could be vulnerable in the first round. Tyler also stopped by for a new edition of Fill in the Blank where he asked them 1:00 - Complete spending report 10:10 - Avs injuries 19:40 - Eastern playoff race 22:50 - Lightning injuries 30:55 - Western playoff race 44:00 - State of the Flames 47:20 - Fill in the Blank Hosted on Acast. | Coaches on the hot seat & summer trade ideas | 03 Apr 2023 | 00:59:45
There are just two weeks to go in the regular season and things are still largely undecided in both conferences. Frank and Jason dug into things today on the pod but before that, they had an impromptu discussion about the state of the NHL. They talked about new NHLPA Head Marty Walsh and his potential impact, how the league’s growth has been stunted, and where they need to improve on things. That led to Tyler telling a story about Frank and Jason’s reputation with the kids on TikTok. They also talked about the fact that offence is up again this season and whether or not this trend is sustainable. Jason has some numbers that point to this change not being an anomaly. With some teams gearing up for the playoffs, others are getting ready for busy summers and for some teams, coaching changes could be coming. Frank gave his list of coaches that could be on the hot seat and talked about how many jobs could open up this month alone. They also each gave some trade ideas that they believe could come to fruition this summer. They each had one for a Canadian team and they were spicy. They also dug into the playoff races before bringing in Tyler Yaremchuk for a little Buy or Sell, brought to you by Betano. 12:50 - Offence is up 20:50 - Coaching changes 29:38 - What if Calgary misses? 33:25 - Mock trade proposals 40:05 - Playoff races 49:00 - Buy or Sell brought to you by Betano Hosted on Acast. | The Western Conference is tightening up! | 30 Mar 2023 | 01:02:26
There just a few weeks left in the regular season and the races are really starting to heat up. The Flames and Predators are still alive thanks to the slumping Winnipeg Jets. Can the Preds really slip into the playoffs after selling off at the deadline? Jason and Frank talked about that today on the pod. Want to know how much pressure the Panthers are under? Just go watch how their Head Coach Paul Maurice acted on the team’s bench last night. They guys started the pod by joking a little about what makes them lose their minds like Maurice. It also led to a conversation about whether or not the NHL is protecting their officials too much right now. Frank thinks the league is getting a little bit soft when it comes to how they coddle their referees. They also broke down Frank’s Top 50 Unrestricted Free Agents list starting at the top with Maple Leafs winger Michael Bunting. Frank got ratio’d on Twitter for putting him there, but he explained why it made sense. Gregor compared him to another former Leaf that left in free agency and found success in his new home: Zach Hyman. They also hit of Tyler Bertuzzi, Vlad Gavrikov, and John Klingberg. They wrapped things up by ranking the teams in each conference and Tyler Yaremchuk stopped by for a little Buy or Sell brought to you by Pointsbet Canada. 0:40 - Maurice & the Panthers 4:30 - Western playoff race 21:40 - Upcoming UFA class 31:50 - The Wild stay hot 36:00 - Pacific seeding battle 49:50 - Buy or Sell Hosted on Acast. | Who's peaking at the right time? | 27 Mar 2023 | 00:54:18
It was a hectic weekend around the NHL with both conference's playoff races still not over yet. The Florida Panthers, Calgary Flames, and Nashville Predators are all on the outside looking in and haven’t exactly taken the bull by the horns over the last seven days. On the other hand, the Winnipeg Jets and Pittsburgh Penguins could have put those teams right out of it with a solid hot streak and neither of those teams has been able to do that. That means the final few weeks of the regular season should be very interesting. Frank and Jason talked about that today on the pod. Before that though, they recapped Frank’s week off and his trip to Disney World. He’s been a handful of times this year and talked about his disdain for the whole experience. Jason has never been and is planning on taking his boy, but Frank gave him some insight into how things work and kind of scared him off of the idea. They also talked about the playoff format, the LA Kings heading into the playoffs, and Auston Matthews tremendous weekend. The talk for a lot of teams right now is about peaking at the right time and playing their best hockey as they head into the playoffs and both the Kings and Leafs have been hitting their stride. Tyler Yaremchuk also got the guys to guess some price tags on players eligible for extensions this summer. 8:15 - NHL playoff races 12:00 - Lottery talk 19:05 - Matthew’s finding form 23:30 - Playoff format 30:15 - Kings heading into the playoffs 38:05 - Fill in the Blank for Pointsbet Canada Hosted on Acast. | A crawl to the finish line in the West | 20 Mar 2023 | 00:51:43
It was a wild weekend around the NHL as playoff races continue to heat up. We had multiple 7+ goal outputs from different teams around the league and some of the teams that were victims of those offensive explosions were teams that were in the mix. Frank and Jason opened up the show by talking about the sliding Penguins, who are just barely hanging on in the Eastern Conference with the Florida Panthers lurking. Will they hold on? If they miss, could Ron Hextall pay the price with his job? It could happen and Frank also talked about an interesting story out of Toronto that ties into a possible GM change in Pittsburgh. From there, they went out West where it seems like nobody wants to grab a hold of the playoff race. The Jets, Predators, and Flames all continue to play very average hockey and it’s led to the wild card race staying wide open. They also hit on McDavid’s race to 150 points before bringing in Tyler for a new edition of Fill in the Blank brought to you by Pointsbet Canada where he asked the guys about the upcoming free agent class in the NHL. 0:40 - Penguins slide 6:08 - Dubas to Pittsburgh? 10:50 - Western playoff race 16:30 - McDavid a lock for 150? 30:20 - Fill in the Blank Hosted on Acast. | Binnington's act, fighting in hockey & frying pans | 16 Mar 2023 | 00:51:30
Jason and Frank are back with another episode of The DFO Rundown and they kicked things off with some fireworks as they talked about the Jordan Binnington vs Marc-Andre Fleury “non-fight”. Frank says this was just another example of Binnington’s fake tough guy act. Gregor wanted to see the linesmen let them go at it. That spilled into a conversation about the state of fighting in the sport. They talked about some talks that happened at the GM meetings about this topic and how some in the sport want to see an end to fights after clean hits. The QMJHL is also becoming the first major junior league in Canada to outlaw fighting completely. The NHL has two 100-point scorers already this year, and they’re both on the same team. The guys talked about Draisaitl’s remarkably productive season, if he’d be able to do it without 97, and where he ranks all-time amongst European centremen. Is he going to be the best ever? They also talked about McDavid’s remarkable season, which led to some talk about Connor Bedard and who’s doing the best tank job right now in the NHL. Tyler hopped in with some Buy or Sell questions which started with one about McDavid’s historic season. He also asked them about which second seed has the best chance to catch their respective division leader. He wrapped it up with some talk about a very unique way that Gregor uses a frying pan. 4:30 - Binnington vs Fleury 9:00 - Fighting in the game 30:15 - McDavid & Draisaitl 36:30 - Draft lottery talk 39:15 - Buy or Sell 48:24 - Svechnikov injury Hosted on Acast. | The GM Meetings & What's Next in Philly? | 13 Mar 2023 | 01:00:54
Frank and Jason are back for another Monday edition of the pod. There was some major news late last week with the Flyers moving on from General Manager Chuck Fletcher. They broke down what led to this firing, where the Flyers go from here, and Frank gave some insight into Danny Briere’s chances of being named the full-time General Manager. They also talked about what’s expected to be tabled at this week’s GM meetings down in Florida. From the salary cap to fighting, there will be some pretty big topics on the table as all 32 GM‘s meet up for one of their annual meetings. We are over a week removed from the NHL trade deadline as well, which means we have a pretty good sample size for some players on their new teams. Jason brought up two players in particular who are off to surprisingly strong starts with their new clubs and one of them could have a big impact on how the playoffs go in the Western Conference. They also dug into the playoff races and declared a few more teams as dead. Tyler also popped in for a new edition of Fill in the Blank delivered by Pointsbet Canada. 1:05 - GM Meetings topics 14:02 - Flyers GM search 26:50 - Deadline adds 34:30 - Playoff race update 42:00 - Fill in the Blank Hosted on Acast. | The Playoff Race Is On & Mission 200 | 09 Mar 2023 | 00:51:43
The conversation on the pod has shifted fully from trade talk to discussion about the playoff races and suddenly, there are playoff races in each conference. Last year, there was something to watch down the stretch in the Western Conference but no race at all in the East. This year, there are two teams in the West and a handful in the East who still have a legitimate shot at taking one of the final two wild card spots. Jason and Frank started off the pod by talking about which teams they like to keep things close in the final month of the season and which teams could slip out. After giving their thoughts on teams that have a lot to play for down the stretch, they talked about teams that have their focus solely on the first-overall pick and Connor Bedard. They dug into which teams would be the best and worst fits from both a league perspective and a hockey perspective. Tyler also popped in for ‘Buy or Sell’ brought to you by Pointsbet Canada. He asked the guys about Connor McDavid’s ridiculous season and relocation rumours. 6:00 - Western Playoff Picture 15:50 - Leafs & Dubas 24:00 - Best & worst spots for Bedard 34:30 - McDavid’s season 43:20 - Buy or Sell Hosted on Acast. | The Trade Deadline Recap Show | 06 Mar 2023 | 01:06:11
With the trade deadline in the rearview mirror, Jason Gregor and Frank Seravalli sat down for a full breakdown of what happened over the last week in the NHL. They talked about which teams they feel made themselves better, which General Managers might be kicking themselves for not doing enough, and also which ones maybe went a little bit too crazy with their deadline spending. As expected, there was a lot of talk about which teams did the best job of loading up but Frank and Jason also took some time to talk about which organization did the best job of selling off at the deadline. The Blues and Predators both made some tough decisions, but they could end up being big winners down the line. They also talked about the Senators' playoff chances, the Sabres’ trade deadline moves, the Carolina Hurricanes' lack of activity, and some of the teams that stayed quiet. Tyler Yaremchuk also joined the guys for a new edition of Fill in the Blank brought to you by Pointsbet Canada. He asked the guys about the Calgary Flames' plummeting playoff chances and more. | A Pre-Deadline Look Around The League | 02 Mar 2023 | 01:15:41
Is this a deadline preview show? Or a deadline wrap up show? We are still more than 24 hours away from the NHL trade deadline and most of the names at the top of Frank Seravalli’s Trade Targets board have evaporated. Chychrun, Kane, Ekholm, Gavrikov, Granlund, and more have all been traded since we recorded our last episode. To break down all the activity we’ve seen over the last 48-72 hours, Frank and Jason went division by division to go through every team around the league. They started with the Bruins, who made two major moves today with the Pastrnak extension and the Tyler Bertuzzi trade, and then got to the rest of the Atlantic. The West has not been as active, but some teams have made big moves. In the Central, the Avs have nibbled around the edges of the trade market and everyone is watching to see if the Dallas Stars will make a big splash. They then went back to the Eastern Conference and looked at the Metropolitan division where the Rangers have loaded up but the Canes have been quieter than expected. Back in the West, the Oilers and Kings have both made major adds. They finished up the show by talking about what else could go down in that division including a fascinating situation in Calgary where GM Brad Treliving is in a tough spot. | 'Wild Card' Week Is Here! | 27 Feb 2023 | 00:55:22
We got a couple of big moves this weekend in the NHL as things continue to heat up ahead of trade deadline. Timo Meier is off to the New Jersey Devils, Tanner Jeannot is now a member of the Tampa Bay Lightning, and the Vegas Golden Knights sacrificed a top prospect for Ivan Barbashev. Frank and Jason broke down all the news that we got over the last 48 hours. Teams are making their moves early but there is still plenty that could happen over the next five days. The guys also gave their thoughts on some moves that haven’t happened yet. The Rangers appear to be a lock to get Patrick Kane, the Predators are open to moving Mattias Ekholm, and the Flyers have made it known that Kevin Hayes is available. There is a lot going on behind the scenes and Frank gave us the latest. Tyler Yaremchuk also popped in for Buy or Sell brought to you by Pointsbet Canada. He asked the guys about which GM is facing the most pressure, the K’Andre Miller spitting incident, and the odds on some teams to miss the playoffs. | New Names On The Trade Block | 23 Feb 2023 | 00:52:15
Things are happening around the NHL. We had two trades yesterday and there will surely be more this weekend. We are basically one week from the trade deadline and there are still plenty of teams that want to get something done before then. Frank put out his newest trade targets list and today on the pod, he broke down all the new names that have popped up on the trade market. Dmitry Orlov, Joel Farabee, and Tanner Jeannot are all players that could be moved. Frank and Jason also talked about the possibility of the Vancouver Canucks moving on from JT Miller less than a year after signing him to a massive extension. They also talked about a pair of Eastern Conference powerhouses in Boston and Carolina and what they could do ahead of the deadline. Those two teams have been dominant almost all season long and could be looking to bolster their roster ahead of the deadline. Another team that’s heating up in the East is the New York Rangers and now there’s word that they could be interested in adding Patrick Kane just weeks after getting Vladimir Tarasenko. Frank gave us the latest on the Kane situation. Tyler Yaremchuk also got the guys thoughts on the Golden Knights, Senators and some under-the-radar candidates that could be on the move ahead of the deadline. | The Leafs Make Their Big Splash | 20 Feb 2023 | 00:51:58
What a weekend in the NHL! We got a big trade, some other substantial news off the ice, and it was a topsy-turvy week in the standings as well. To begin today’s podcast, Jason and Frank took a look at the Ryan O’Reilly trade that we saw on Saturday night. Kyle Dubas and company pushed their chips into the middle byu moving four draft picks, but are O’Reilly and Noel Acciari enough to push them past the first round? Frank also talked about why he has a problem with where the bar is being set in Toronto. From there, they talked about the news that Jonathan Toews is going to be staying in Chicago this season as he continues to battle an illness. The Hawks won’t be able to get anything for their Captain, but Patrick Kane may have upped his trade value with a Sunday night hat-trick against the Maple Leafs. Jason also wondered about the potential availability of Max Domi. They also looked into some teams that are going to be facing tough decisions. The New York Islanders haven’t been the dominant force some thought they’d be after acquiring Bo Horvat. The Washington Capitals are slipping and how a lot of pieces they could sell off. The Pittsburgh Penguins have games in hand on a lot of teams, but they are far from a lock to make the playoffs. It’s going to be a wild finish in the East. Tyler Yaremchuk also stopped by for a new edition of Fill in the Blank where he asked the guys about the Tampa Bay Lightning, Edmonton Oilers, and St. Louis Blues. | The status of Kane & Toews | 16 Feb 2023 | 00:40:17
We are now just over two weeks away from the NHL trade deadline and with plenty of news potentially coming, we decided to drop today’s episode of the podcast a day earlier than usual. To start today, Frank and Jason talked about the two big names in Chicago: Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane. The market is changing for these players with Toews out of the lineup due to an illness and Kane having full control of his destination. Frank explained why Toews has plummeted down his trade bait board. From there, Jason gave his thoughts on some of the new names that Frank has put forward on his board including Carson Soucy out of Seattle. They also batted around potential deadline strategies for teams like the Canucks, Oilers, and Hurricanes. Tyler Yaremchuk stopped by for a new edition of Buy or Sell delivered by Montanas. He had some takes on the New York Rangers, Nashville Predators, the Pacific Division ahead of the deadline, and Connor McDavid’s potentially historic season. The guys laughed at the ridiculous odds that Pointsbet Canada is offering for the Hart Trophy, which feels like it’s firmly in McDavid’s grasp. | Where is Chychrun Going? PLUS: Frank breaks down his Super Bowl weekend | 13 Feb 2023 | 00:44:50
The guys are back with a post Super Bowl Sunday edition of the podcast. Frank was in Phoenix for the big game. To start the pod, they talked about that experience and what being in the building was like. Frank also gave his review on the half-time show and talked about his Eagles collapsing in the second half. After the Super Bowl talk, they got into the other big news that came out of Phoenix this weekend. The Coyotes held Jakob Chychrun out of the lineup for trade-related reasons on Saturday night and it seemed like a deal was about to go down but here we are on Monday morning and Chychrun is still a member of the Coyotes. What are the Coyotes looking for? Are the LA Kings really the team that’s most likely to land him? Frank gave us some insight into that. That led to some talk about the three players available in Chicago: Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, and Jake McCabe. Jason wondered if the Carolina Hurricanes could go all in and grab Patrick Kane. Frank thinks they might be looking at Timo Meier. They then shifted over to the Pacific Division where the Vegas Golden Knights are suddenly in the market for a goaltender. Logan Thompson is hurt but regardless of his health, they’re likely going to be looking for a goalie ahead of the deadline. Frank also thinks they’ll look to add some scoring help and wondered about Patrick Kane as a fit. Episode 192 of The DFO Rundown is brought to you by Athletic Brewing Co. | Tarasenko to the Rangers... what's next? | 10 Feb 2023 | 00:54:44
We are now just 21 days away from the NHL Trade Deadline and we’ve now seen our second massive trade of the season. That means Jason and Frank had a lot to discuss on today’s episode of The DFO Rundown. They started things off by discussing the Vladimir Tarasenko trade. The Rangers are clearly loading up and this move makes them even more dangerous offensively. Frank thinks the trade was actually a big win for the St. Louis Blues though, who managed to get a first-round pick back in the move. With both Tarasenko and Horvat now off the board, is the market going to pick up for Timo Meier? Jason thinks he might be the most impactful player who’s moved ahead of the deadline and shared some teams he thinks should be calling Sharks GM Mike Grier looking to swing something. One of the teams he listed is even in the Pacific Division. Frank went on to share some insight into potential deadline plans for the Vegas Golden Knights, Minnesota Wild, and Winnipeg Jets before the guys welcomed in Tyler Yaremchuk for a new edition of Buy or Sell delivered by Montanas. To wrap up the show, Frank talked about his upcoming Super Bowl experience. He’s going to be on a plane later today and flying to Phoenix to catch his Eagles in the Super Bowl on Sunday. | Horvat will stay on Long Island & We Recap All-Star Weekend | 06 Feb 2023 | 00:47:41
Frank and Jason are back after a little All-Star weekend hiatus and they had a lot to breakdown, starting with the Bo Horvat extension on Long Island. Does this make the trade a clear win for Lou Lamiorello and the Islanders? Or did they just overpay for a player having a career year? They also recapped All-Star weekend and talked about what went well and what the league should be looking to improve on going forward. There were issues around the length of events among other things that they discussed. We also saw a trade on Sunday night as the San Jose Sharks moved defenseman Jaycob Megna to the Seattle Kraken in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick. Frank talked about this move and Jason wondered about what else the Sharks could sell off ahead of the trade deadline. Sticking with trade talk, they also hit on the Penguins, Sabres, and Golden Knights. To wrap things up, they talked about the playoff races that are forming in either conference and which teams they're keeping an eye on heading down the stretch. 3:45 - Horvat signs 9:50 - All-Star weekend 17:40 - Megna deal & Sharks future 27:55 - Penguins & their first rounder 38:30 - More deadline talk

We are back together in-studio for episode 190 of The DFO Rundown. Frank Seravalli was in town for the big pond hockey tournament out at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge so he recapped how the weekend went. Tourism Jasper puts on a great tournament and the guys came back with some awesome stories. They then got into the hockey talk. The league is slowly heading into the All-Star break so Jason and Frank gave their biggest positive and negative surprises from each conference. That led into a conversation about the Seattle Kraken and whether or not their success is sustainable. Should Ron Francis push some chips into the middle at the deadline? They talked about that and discussed a spicy trade proposal. The conversation then got flipped and they dug into which teams have really failed to live up to expectations. Could the Senators become aggressive sellers and look to move on from a piece like Alex DeBrincat? Frank brought up the possibility of it. Before moving on, they did the same exercise with individual players. Frank and Jason talked about a pair of Oilers and Sabres who are having career seasons. | The Coaching Carousel Continues & Bob Stands Tall at MSG | 23 May 2024 | 00:50:25
Jason and Frank are back with a fresh edition of The DFO Rundown to get you through your Thursday. To start off today’s podcast, the guys looked at all the coaching news that’s gone down over the last couple of days. Jim Hiller is staying put in Los Angeles as the Kings announced that they’ll be removing the interim tag from his title. What does that mean for the future of the Kings? They discussed. Sheldon Keefe was not a free agent for long. He’s now officially been announced as the new Head Coach of the New Jersey Devils. Is he the right man to lead the Devils back to the playoffs? From there, they got into the two Conference Finals. They started out in the Eastern Conference where Sergei Bobrovsky pitched a shutout in Game 1 as the Panthers took the series opener. They debated whether or not the Panther's speed and physicality would be too much for the Rangers. They then went into the Western Conference where the Oilers and Stars are getting set for Game 1 out in Texas. There are a couple of big injury situations for either team that will have impacts on this series, most notably Roope Hintz. They talked about that and some other key battle grounds in that series. 1:45 - Sheldon Keefe Hired by Devils 7:20 - Jim Hiller Hired by the L.A. | Live from Edmonton | 27 Jan 2023 | 00:59:51
Episode 189 of The DFO Rundown was a special one. We’re almost 200 episodes in and this is one of the few times where all three of Frank, Jason, and Tyler were in the same room for the podcast. With Frank out in Edmonton for the weekend, they decided to meet up and crush out an in-person edition of the podcast. To start things off, they talked about a very famous Edmonton event: The World’s Longest Hockey Game. Jason has played in it before and shared some stories while Frank really wants to try it. They eventually got into some NHL talk starting with the red-hot Buffalo Sabres. Don Granato has his group in a playoff spot as we head toward the end of January. Are they legit? How did they turn around their culture this quickly? Frank and Jason debated that. From there, they went out West where the Minnesota Wild appear to be falling apart. | The Boudreau situation, Sutter's comments & Caufield's injury | 23 Jan 2023 | 00:49:00
What a dramatic weekend in the NHL. We watched Bruce Boudreau’s time in Vancouver come to an end in a very public way. Frank gave some insight into just how this situation got as toxic as they did. Did management want to make a change earlier? They also talked about the spot that Rick Tocchet is now in as the Canucks new Head Coach. They then went across Canada to talk about the news that Cole Caufield is going to miss the remainder of the season. The Canadiens have been moving up the standings recently, which goes against what a large part of their fan base wants them to do and that’s tank for Connor Bedard. From there, Jason and Frank naturally transitioned into the Florida Panthers, who traded their 2023 first round pick to the Canadiens at last season’s deadline. Right now, they’re on the outside looking in when it comes to the playoff picture. Jason thinks they’ll get in while Frank has them as sellers. Darryl Sutter also made some comments about rookie forward Jakob Pelletier, who made his debut on Saturday, that drew criticism. Is too much being made of this or was Sutter out of line? The guys gave their thoughts on it and then got into the current state of the Flames. Should they be looking to add ahead of the deadline? | Talking NHL Draft with Craig Button | 20 Jan 2023 | 01:19:44
Today on The DFO Rundown, Jason and Frank were joined by Craig Button of TSN and the Kool Button podcast. Of course, how could you not start things off by talking about Connor Bedard. Craig talked about how he wrestled with using the term ‘generational’, the comparisons to Gretzky at the WJC, and where the best landing spot for him is. They also got Craig’s thoughts on Matvei Michkov, who his biggest wild cards are in this year’s class, and some of his draft philosophies. To wrap it up, Frank officially welcomed Craig to The Nation Network family with the announcement that the Kool Button podcast is joining the network! Before getting to Craig, Frank broke some news about Max Pacioretty, who suffered another injury last night after working his way back into the lineup. It could be another long-term injury for Pacioretty. From there they talked about some trade deadline topics and also about the Ivan Provorov situation. Should the Flyers have handled it differently? They also gave their thoughts on the different reactions to his decision. To wrap up the pod, they brought in Tyler Yaremchuk for a fresh edition of Buy or Sell delivered by Montanas and Pointsbet Canada. | Could 5 Pacific Division teams make the playoffs? PLUS: Matt Boldy's big extension! | 16 Jan 2023 | 00:54:20
Today on The DFO Rundown, Frank Seravalli and Jason Gregor went around the league to check in on a handful of different storylines. To kick things off, Jason went in on the idea of fully getting rid of the shootout. Would a full ten-minute period of 3v3 overtime really work? That also led to some talk that the league needs to remake the point system. From there, they dug into the Western Conference playoff picture. The Seattle Kraken just finished a historically successful road trip and now seem like a stone-cold lock to make the postseason. It's also possible that five teams from the Pacific Division will make the playoffs, which was also discussed on the show. The Vancouver Canucks likely won't be one of those teams as they continue to roll through a season filled with drama, the latest in which surrounds their Head Coaching situation with rumours about Rick Tochett swirling. They then took a trip out to the Metropolitan Division to talk about the Flyers and their seeming lack of direction. Also, are the New York Rangers starting to look like Stanley Cup Contenders finally? To wrap things up, they broke down the seven-year extension that the Minnesota Wild gave to young forward Matt Boldy. Is committing $49 million to a player with under 100 games played a good move? They debated that as the news rolled in live during the podcast. Episode 186 of The DFO Rundown is brought to you by Athletic Brewing Co. | The Oilers Force Game 7 & An Eastern Conference Final Preview | 19 May 2024 | 01:17:30
These Stanley Cup Playoffs just keep on getting more and more dramatic. The guys sat down in Edmonton to record an in-person edition of the podcast after watching the Oilers beat the Canucks 5-1 in Game 6 of their second-round series and has forced a seventh game. It feels like the Oilers got their swagger back a little bit with their big victory. Will that confidence carry over? Or is Game 7 a total coin flip? Jason and Frank discussed. They also hit on the Dallas Stars' dramatic double-OT win over the Colorado Avalanche. Dallas has looked like an absolute wagon these entire playoffs and that was true for most of this series against the Avalanche. Will they have an easy time with whoever comes out of the Pacific? Or will injuries hold them back? Tyler also popped in for a new edition of Fill in the Blank presented by Wendys where he asked the guys some big offseason questions about the teams who lost in the second round. Coming off those questions, they continued the conversation by talking about the big decisions that the Hurricanes have to make this summer. Do they need to make sweeping changes or can they run it back with a similar group? They also did their preview of the Eastern Conference Final. After putting away the Bruins in six games, the Panthers will meet the President's Trophy winning New York Rangers with a trip to the Stanley Cup Final on the line. The guys discussed the key battlegrounds in that series. They wrapped up the show by talking about the Craig Berube hiring in Toronto. Gregor wondered if he could have a Rick Tocchet like impact with this Maple Leafs group. Frank said this new hire needs to be paired with major roster changes. Frank also had an update on the Matvei Michkov situation. There are rumblings that the Flyers could be getting him two years earlier than expected. 4:40 - Oilers force Game 7 11:45 - The Canucks stars 17:55 - Oilers coaching adjustments 20:30 - Demko’s availability 24:30 - Stars take down Avalanche 34:50 - Fill in the Blank 47:10 - Changes in Carolina? 55:35 - Rangers vs Panthers preview 1:04:40 - Berube to the Maple Leafs 1:15:20 - Will the Flyers get Michkov early?
