| The Danger of Escapism w/ Ann Swindell | 26 Nov 2024 | 00:32:47 | |
For many, Christmas is a time of year that sparks joy. For others, it is a reminder of what has been lost. In moments of hardship, especially near the holidays, it can be easy to find ways to escape reality. Escaping reality can be seen as something “harmless”, but it's actually damaging to our hearts. In this episode, Krystal and guest Ann Swindell discuss escapism during the holidays, specifically how we should avoid it, and how the gospel can give us the peace we are looking for.

| Navigating Success and Failure Well w/Katie Davidson | 31 Jan 2023 | 00:30:27 | |
We might try to avoid it but it’s inevitable—we all fail at something at some point. No matter if we are in the workforce, self-employed, at home, or in ministry, we face failure. But we will have moments of success as well, which in some ways can be even more difficult to handle. Navigating both of those with grace can be a challenge in different ways! How can we respond well as believers? In today’s conversation, Shelby and I invited staff writer Katie Davidson to join us as we talk about how to navigate success and failure. If you struggle to receive success with humility or failure with grace, we encourage you to join us in this conversation. We hope that it will provide you with some practical and Biblical wisdom to rightly navigate these situations in your everyday life. In the good and bad, whether we succeed or fail, we know that we can fix our eyes on God who is good and faithful and wise. | Identity & Roles: Finding Our Worth in Christ, Not in the Titles We Hold | 24 Jan 2023 | 00:27:55
In today's episode, we discuss roles and our identity. It's a topic that listeners have messaged us about but it's also one that feels very relevant to Shelby and myself right now. We want to be faithful in the roles that God has entrusted to us, but we also don't want to find our primary identity in them. We attempt to untangle some of the complexities as we look to our identity in Christ and see what God's Word has to say about who we are as believers. Sign up for the Daily Grace Podcast Newsletter and receive the free resource "Scripture for Every Season.”
Time Stamps: :51 - Favorite things 3:23 - Why talk about identity and roles? 7:55 - Finding our identity in the roles we have 9:32 - Finding our identity in the roles we don’t have 15:36 - Scripture on identity in Christ 21:02 - How fulfilling our roles can be an overflow of our identity in Christ 23:51 - Prayer prompts and gospel encouragement
Questions to Consider: How do you react when success in your role is threatened? Do you still see your need for God when everything is going well in your roles? Or do you pull away from God because you are being satisfied by your roles? Does your contentment depend on getting a role that you don't currently have or keeping a role that you do currently have? Are you able to weather failure and criticism in your roles well or do these things crush you?
Prayer Prompts: Ask God to help you glorify Him in your current roles. Thank God for the roles He has given you and thank Him for his goodness and sovereignty in the roles that you don't have. Ask God to increase your joy and contentment with where He has you right now. Pray that the Spirit would convict you when you're tempted to place your identity anywhere other than Christ himself.

| The Faithfulness of God in Our Testimonies w/Afshin Ziafat | 10 Jan 2023 | 00:29:27 | |
What’s your story? We all have one. As believers, God has crafted a story for each of us, bringing us into salvation through the work of His Son, Jesus. Your story may be one of faithful Christian parents that brought you up in the ways of the Lord. Your story may be one of wandering. Perhaps you became a Christian later in life after years of rebellion. Whatever your story entails, there is a common thread that we all share: the faithfulness of God. In today’s episode, Krystal chats with her pastor, Afshin Ziafat. Though he was raised in a Muslim household, Afshin came to know the Lord in his teenage years. Afshin has an incredible testimony and has the opportunity to share it all other the world. But in sharing his story, Afshin is clear to point out that it is a story of God’s faithfulness and not his own. Come chat with us about the faithfulness of God in our testimonies.

| When to Walk Away From Toxic People w/Gary Thomas | 20 Dec 2022 | 00:48:53 | |
On today’s podcast episode, Gary Thomas talks to us about how to determine if the difficult people in our lives are toxic people and what to do if we discover they are toxic. Toxic is a cultural buzzword when it comes to relationships, but Gary doesn’t allow culture to define this word. Instead, he uses Scripture to explain to us the traits of a toxic person and relationship. He also shows us how Jesus handled difficult and toxic people. It may be surprising to you to learn that Jesus both walked away from people and let people walk away from Him many times in the gospels. And by studying His example we can learn how we should handle the difficult people in our lives. | Politics and the Gospel: Public Witness in a Politically Crazy World w/ Dr. Patrick Schreiner | 15 Nov 2022 | 00:32:01
What are the two topics you aren’t supposed to discuss at family gatherings? Most of us would immediately guess religion and politics, and some of us may intentionally stay away from these topics in public. But what if we could step into the political sphere in a way that honors God? In this episode, Dr. Patrick Schreiner makes a compelling case for why we should consider engaging in politics as believers. Shelby and Krystal chat with Dr. Schreiner about how the gospel changes the way we view politics and offers practical tips on engaging in politics in a way that honors Christ as King. The opinions of guests on the Daily Grace podcast do not represent the opinions of The Daily Grace Co., and we do not necessarily endorse the resources that they recommend or mention on the show. | What Does it Mean to be Blessed by God? w/Lindsey Master | 20 Sep 2022 | 00:21:57
We hear the word blessing frequently. We hear people refer to health, prosperity, and exciting opportunities as blessings. God certainly is the giver of all good gifts. But, if blessings are only material gifts to us, then we may feel confused when we walk through sickness, lack, and strife. We need a biblical definition of blessing. The Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, ties blessings into the presence of God. To be blessed by God is to be in His presence, not to receive presents from Him. The gospel assures us that all who are saved by grace through faith have the unbreakable promise of God’s presence in their lives. Therefore, we are blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ. And we can experience blessing even when our life’s circumstances are what Instagram would caption as #blessed. Come chat with us about what it really means to be blessed by God and how the gospel is the very best blessing we can receive. | Overcoming People Pleasing | 09 Aug 2022 | 00:27:55
Sometimes caring for others can become a crisis in our lives. We can become so consumed with pleasing the people around us that our main function in life becomes to meet the needs and expectations of others. And while this initially seems like a selfless way to live, it is actually often a self-centered way to live. We crave the approval and acceptance of others so much that we will sacrifice anything and everything to get it. People pleasing can easily become an idol. So, how do we recognize when serving others has become our god? And how can we recenter our lives on God instead of the opinions of others? Come chat with us as we discuss how Scripture and ultimately the gospel helps us overcome fear of man and people pleasing.

| Letting Go of Perfectionism | 01 Aug 2022 | 00:29:41 | |
Many women feel constant pressure to be perfect in all areas of their lives. And because of this pressure, we push ourselves to our limits trying to be (or appear) perfect. But, perfectionism is oftentimes rooted in love of self. It is the outworking of the wrongful belief that we can earn our way into God’s good graces. If we want to have a thriving relationship with God, we need to deal with our perfectionism so that He alone is the standard of perfection in our lives. Come chat with us about the roots of perfectionism, how we can identify it in our lives, when we should repent of the idol of perfectionism, and how the grace of Jesus covers all our imperfections and failures.
