What was hiding behind the tree in The Meadow?

On this episode of The Cryptid Podcast, host Dano welcomes Chris from Texas, a State Representative for the North American Dogman Project (NADP), for a conversation filled with strange and unsettling encounters.

Chris takes us back to an afternoon when she decided to spend some time alone in an area known as “The Meadow.” While walking a familiar trail she had traveled many times before, something suddenly changed.

A group of coyotes erupted nearby—then abruptly went silent.

Not long afterward, Chris began hearing movement in the woods. Feeling that something wasn't right, she decided to get out of there and started heading back toward her truck.

Then she turned around.

Reaching from behind a tree was a large, hairy arm ending in a massive clawed hand. Whatever it belonged to remained concealed on the other side of the tree.

But The Meadow encounter is only part of Chris's story. She also shares other strange encounters and unexplained experiences she's had, giving us a deeper look into why she became involved with investigating reports of these mysterious creatures.

What was following Chris through the woods? Why did the coyotes suddenly go silent? What was attached to that clawed hand—and how do her other encounters fit into the larger mystery?

At just 16 years old, Anthony from Louisiana, went hunting with his uncle and a friend on a secluded 200-acre property they had permission to hunt. Vehicles weren’t allowed, so everything had to be done on foot. A gas company was also leasing the property, but the landowner had one strict rule—all workers had to be off the property by 5 PM.

Anthony, his uncle, and his friend went in afterward to get an evening hunt in.

As darkness approached, it was time to meet back up—but Anthony’s uncle wasn't there.

After waiting and calling out for him, Anthony and his friend finally saw someone emerge from the woods and begin walking toward them down the dirt access road.

At first, Anthony thought it was his uncle.

Then the figure got closer.

It wasn't his uncle.
