The Year Behind and the Summer Ahead with Jacob Duffy and Eden Carson

Ben Hurley is on the road for this episode of The Cricketers Network, catching up with two New Zealand internationals at very different points in their journeys.

Jacob Duffy joins Ben from Adelaide after an incredible 12 months that has seen him establish himself in the Blackcaps, play in both a World Cup final and an IPL final, win the IPL with RCB and become a father. He also reflects on receiving the NZCPA Players’ Cap, an award voted on by his teammates and one that he says felt particularly special.

Then Eden Carson returns to the show to talk about a very different year. After almost 18 months dealing with injury, rehab and surgery, Eden is back bowling, back training and preparing to return to international cricket as the White Ferns head to Australia. She also talks about the mental challenge of being sidelined, completing her te reo Māori study, and stepping into a new era for the White Ferns without Suzie Bates, Sophie Devine and Lea Tahuhu.

Two Otago players. Two very different years. One huge summer ahead.

Catch ups and Segues with Jimmy Neesham and Suzie Bates02 oct. 202600:41:24

We are back at Eden park with Jimmy and Suzie for a huge catch up as to what they have been up to across the cricketing planet. From Glasgow to Barbados and back home again, the A team cover the world of the greatest game in one beautiful podcast package

Suzie reflects on her final game for the White Ferns, the emotions of walking away from international cricket, what life has looked like since, and why she is not quite finished playing just yet.

Jimmy returns from the inaugural European T20 Premier League with stories of missing luggage, questionable bus directions and the realities of franchise cricket, while also revealing how he would like his own retirement to eventually play out.

The trio also get into the future of the White Ferns, Australia’s return to South Africa, the increasingly difficult life of a Test opener, India’s run-scoring madness, the growing number of global T20 leagues and what NZ20 could mean for keeping New Zealand’s best players at home.

Plenty of cricket. Plenty of tangents. And, somehow, plenty of discussion about holidays.

Dockers, Dutchies and the ETPL with Logan van Beek11 sept. 202600:28:51

Ben Hurley catches up with Logan van Beek from Dublin for a special look inside the new European T20 Premier League.

Playing for the Rotterdam Dockers alongside Faf du Plessis, Logan takes us behind the scenes of the tournament, from rubbing shoulders with some of world cricket’s biggest names to the opportunities the competition is creating for players from the Netherlands, Ireland and Scotland.

They chat franchise cricket, the seemingly ageless Faf, Logan’s Dutch heritage, his long-running rivalry with Jimmy Neesham, Kyle Mills’ unbeaten Edinburgh Castle Rockers and why the ETPL could offer a glimpse of what a competition like NZ20 might bring to cricket in New Zealand.

The association has undergone a rebrand in recent years and is the only organisation where the men's and women's team share a name. Ben sits down with Women’s Brave captain Jess Watkin and men’s allrounder Kristian Clarke to discuss all things from the Northern part of Aotearoa.

150 years of Otago Cricket with Nathan McCullum and Warren McSkimming

Otago might sometimes be looked at as the southern underdogs when it comes to New Zealand cricket but the sheer number of true greats they have produced over the decades means they bat well above their average.

Sutcliffe, Turner, McCullum, Bates and many more have risen from the cold depths of Otago cricket to become superstars on the global stage.

Lord’s, Katey, Lou, Will, Lattes & a $40 Hot Dog08 juin 202600:45:35

Ben Hurley has finally made it to Lord’s... not by buying a ticket, obviously, but by somehow convincing people he is a legitimate member of the cricket media.

This episode comes straight from the Home of Cricket during England v New Zealand, with Ben roaming around Lord’s finding Kiwis in every corner of the ground.

There’s Lou Vincent handing out spare tickets, Katey Martin giving proper cricket insight and elite scone analysis, Zac Foulkes talking drinks duties and Nathan Smith’s Honours Board moment, Will Somerville in a blazer fit for the Long Room, and Meg Lay from the Lord’s ground staff explaining how a South Canterbury farmer ended up preparing pitches at the most famous cricket ground in the world.

Also discussed: champagne at Lord’s, 16 wickets in a day, the famous slope, Matt Henry sleeping on the floor and a hot dog that may require a small mortgage.

Plus, Jimmy gets put through Six of the Best, classic cricket chat, a few rogue theories, and plenty of laughs.

New Zealand TV Takeover!16 avr. 202600:48:32

This week the pod gets taken over by two recognisable faces for Kiwis sitting in their living room.

TV Presenters Sonia Gray (Mind Menders, Lotto, Wheel of Fortune) and Matt Gibb (Breakfast TV, Find my Country house, Squirt) are known to New Zealanders from making literally hours and hours of tele but, when they aren’t doing that, they are usually glued to the cricket.

Join them as they go through their own (modest) playing careers, their run ins with actual, real life cricketers and what they would change about our beloved game.

Kiwi Comedy Takeover29 janv. 202600:50:32

The Cricketers Network podcast has had a kiwi comedy takeover!

We mix it up a little this week, instead of former professional players, how about a couple of professional comedians who happen to be super cricket fans.

Sanjay Patel is best known to people as Guy Montgomery’s side kick on the hugely popular Guy Montgomery’s Guy Mont Spelling Bee and Tony Lyall is deep in the cricket world being an ACC commentator and a game day host at Blackcaps games over many summers.

They cover everything from favourite moments, players, best format and some cracker yarns about Gavin Larsen and Kieran Read - plus we find out if Tony stole Ben's job at New Zealand Cricket.

It's a goody… so get listening!
