72: The Upcoming Eclipses and Your Business17 Oct 202200:14:46

We have discussed the upcoming eclipses in past episodes, but I wanted to get more specific since they are just around the corner. Since eclipses often come in pairs, the in-between time can get sticky. Let’s talk about how these energies affect our lives and businesses and how we can make the most of this time. Join me now!

Show Highlights:

  • An explanation of the eclipses and the retrograding nodes
  • Why this time has the quality of moving things backward to disrupt existing patterns and create powerful shifts
  • How this energy can propel us forward with innovative thinking–IF we are intentional
  • The first eclipse on October 25 is a solar eclipse and the new moon; in the lunar constellation Swati, this energy is about receiving information, creating force, and being open to newness and freshness.
  • My advice for the period between October 25 and November 8:
  • As a business owner, avoid important decisions, contracts, and hiring new people during this time.
  • Since karmas come to the surface to be dealt with, it’s important to focus on practices to ground yourself, remain calm, and give yourself grace.
  • Eat well, rest well, and be slower about making decisions.
  • This period is a great time for visioning, journaling, and taking in all the new ideas that come to you.
  • The second eclipse is a lunar eclipse on November 8; it is a deep, ponderous, receptive, and creative container for an intense and powerful chakra.
  • Why the placement of this period is about catharsis, like a death to bring rebirth and a release to allow something to be reborn
  • Why this in-between period is a time for reflection and inner work and requires us to be grounded and intentional during this shifting time
  • My advice: “Tap into your creative side and allow your new ideas to be born after November 8. Don’t fear the strong energy of the eclipses and remember that their goal is to eliminate obstacles and difficulties. Embrace the process and become even clearer about your purpose.”

71: Neuroscience of Positive Emotions with Dr. Nicole Tetreault10 Oct 202200:55:04

We all need more positive emotions and positive changes in our lives, but how do we make those things happen? Most of us don’t know where to begin, and that’s where today’s guest comes in with real science and practical wisdom. Join the conversation to learn more!

Dr. Nicole Tetreault is a compassionate neuroscientist, author, meditation teacher, and international speaker on topics of neurodiversity, neurodevelopment, creativity, mental health, and wellness. Her book, Insight into a Bright Mind, explores groundbreaking research examining the experiences of unique, creative, and intense brains through interviews, storytelling, and literary science while advocating for new directions of human diversity and neurodiversity. Based in Los Angeles, she leads a new generation of meditation practices by fusing novel discoveries and neuroscience with the ancient lineage of Asian meditation. As a recipient of the Milton Career Exploration Prize from CalTech, she founded the novel nonprofit Beyond the Cell, a transformative program to rehabilitate incarcerated women through guided meditation, neuroscience, literature, and expressive writing. Nicole believes we can wire our minds for positive plasticity through compassion and wisdom and live the life we dream. We have a conversation full of juicy material around creating optimum conditions for our brains to be in a creative state, love-based vs. fear-based emotions, and so much more that you can put into practice right away.

  • Why we have been trained to prolong the emotion of fear and not be in tune with our natural intuition
  • How love-based emotions shift us into a place of trust, greater connection with others, less sense of othering and suffering
  • How our brain waves can have a shared consciousness and oneness through chanting
  • How meditation helps cultivate a creative mind state
  • The identified stages of the creative process: practice, incubation, insight, evaluation, and elaboration

68: The Four Aims of Life and Your Business19 Sep 202200:08:37

We are talking about dharma, artha, kama, and moksha, which are the four aims of life according to the Indian wisdom teachings. I’ll discuss each one and put them in context for you as a business owner, including why your business should tap into all four. Join me to learn more!

Show Highlights:

  • The four aims of life:
  • Dharma, which represents justice, righteousness, and balance, means sharing your particular gifts. It correlates to the first 25 years of life.
  • Artha is about acquiring material wealth so we can take care of our responsibilities and generally covers life from 25-50 years.
  • Kama is about enjoyment, which is just as important as dharma and artha. It roughly correlates to ages 50-75.
  • Moksha is about release, which means setting aside material things to finish untying your karmic knots, releasing things you no longer need, and preparing for death in honor of the cycle of life. If we are lucky, this correlates to ages 75-100.
  • How these four periods can happen concurrently, with none of them being more important than the others
  • Why spiritual entrepreneurs have the opportunity to include all four aims and not focus solely on artha and business building
  • How each of the four aims is at work in your business:
  • Dharma is your reason for doing what you are doing–your WHY.
  • Artha, infused with dharma, inspires us to give back and make more impact as we grow our bottom line.
  • Kama is where we derive our inspiration; it’s essential to prevent burnout.
  • Moksha is all about “the bigger picture.” It is about legacy, taking time away for retreat, and knowing what really matters.
  • If these four aims resonate with you and the kind of business you desire to build, please join Your Magnetic Blueprint today!

63: Tapping the Well of Creation with Satya Moses15 Aug 202200:36:59

What does it mean to say YES to life and allow things to unfold? Today’s episode is a powerful one if you are looking to understand what it means to surrender. Our preferences shouldn’t guide us, but we should look to understand ourselves, our purpose, and our unfolding from a deeper space of connection to what is real and true. Join us to learn more!

54: Using Your Intuition in Your Business06 Jun 202200:12:26

Intuition has always worked to move me forward in my life and business. Most people need to listen more to the quiet voice of intuition! We need to listen to and trust our gut, but it can be difficult to say YES to our intuition when we are used to shutting it out with noise and busyness. In business, I use my intuition constantly on sales calls, relying on it much more than what I see on paper. If you need empowerment and encouragement to listen more carefully to the voice of your intuition, join me now for this episode.

Show Highlights:

  • Why we MUST follow our intuitive hits to test them and take action
  • Tips for cultivating your intuition:
  • Spend regular time in silence and in practices that connect you to something greater than yourself.
  • Notice thoughts, omens, and serendipities as clues to what your intuition is asking.
  • Show your intuition that you are listening.
  • How intuition is ruled by the moon, the planet of creativity, emotions, changeability, nurturance, and feminine energy
  • How to do a remedy for the moon to strengthen your intuition
  • My question for you: How can you better honor your intuition in your work?

We’ve seen huge growth in the popularity of yoga in recent years, and people turn to yoga for many different reasons. Today’s show brings interesting insights and perspectives from a longtime expert in the field. Join us for this beautiful conversation.

Eddie Stern is a yogi, author, and lecturer from NYC. He has studied yoga since 1987 and runs the Broome Street Ganesha Temple in Soho. His latest book, One Simple Thing: A New Look at the Science of Yoga and How It Can TransformYour Life, examines a decade’s worth of study on the correlations between the yogic and western views of the nervous system. The book gives an in-depth look at the underlying scientific mechanisms that make yoga work. This is an enlightening conversation about breath and its importance to yoga, the cool story of the founding of the Ganesha Temple, and Eddie’s surprising views about yoga in the US today. The beautiful Broome Street Ganesha Temple is the site of our interview, which unfortunately ended abruptly with technical difficulties. You’ll miss some of Eddie’s answers to my rapid-fire questions, especially about the books he’s reading, but we’ve included two of his recommendations in our Resources section.

Show Highlights:

  • Why the Broome Street Ganesha Temple is a labor of love that has taken several years to become “a beautiful sanctuary in the middle of the city”
  • Eddie’s journey to yoga, which began around age 19-20 and became the most important part of his life
  • Why the science of yoga intrigues and fascinates Eddie
  • How the science of breath ties into yoga and has become a prominent subject in recent years
  • How breathing and other autonomic functions help restore and maintain balance in our bodies
  • Why the yogic tradition teaches that we should measure our lives in breaths
  • Why we should apply the idea of expansiveness to our sense of time and allow breathing to slow down the speed of our minds
  • Why most yoga practices are only surface level, where people attempt to live more conscious lives
  • How yoga is greatly misrepresented in the west
  • Why Eddie wrote his book, One Simple Thing
  • Eddie’s thoughts about gurus, the guru tradition, and the correlation to yoga
  • Why the guru tradition probably won’t work in America because of our hedonistic attitudes
  • The connection between activism, social justice, and effecting change in yoga practice
  • How Eddie views his relationship with social media and his advice about using social media
  • What it means to Eddie to live in his purpose
  • Hear Eddie’s answers to rapid-fire questions about helpful advice, grounding habits, favorite hot beverage, last meal on earth, an inspiring person, and his morning routine

She understands the larger issues and the importance of sustainable agriculture, along with facing the challenges of wildfires and drought in the midst of their Mediterranean climate. 159: Navigating Saturn Affliction (in Work and Life)03 Jun 202400:16:40

We have all gone through a lot of stuff over the past few years, wouldn’t you agree? There is a collective intensity that relates to Saturn’s energy, both personally and professionally. In today’s episode, I’m giving my best tips for navigating Saturn’s affliction more easefully, even in times of intensity. We’ll cover what affliction is, how it manifests, and what you can do about it.

  • We are ALL Saturn-afflicted in some way because Saturn is the “Lord of Karma.”
  • Saturn affliction may result in disappointment or dissatisfaction.
  • Perfectionism can be a result of Saturn affliction, which shows up noticeably in our businesses.
  • My ten best tips for remedies for Saturn affliction:
  • Make a Saturn list.
  • Organize your finances.
  • Work with a mantra.
  • Clean out and give away stuff in your space.
  • Learn the Hanuman Chalisa and recite it regularly.
  • Choose something to give up every Saturday for as many weeks as years of your life, plus one.
  • Commit to a gratitude practice and work on your mindset.
  • Double down on whatever spiritual practice you are doing.
  • Organize your business: dedicate an hour weekly to organizing files, writing standards of practice, and reviewing tasks.
  • Donate money to charity.
  • The key: Don’t be overwhelmed. Choose ONE thing from the list to get started!
