183: Why You Feel Exhausted Building Your Career or Business (And What’s Really Draining You)15 Dec 202500:24:57

Have you ever felt deeply exhausted, discouraged, or disillusioned while working toward something that truly matters to you - your career, your business, or your long-term goals?

In this episode, I share what I’ve been personally moving through over the past few weeks, and the deeper reason many high-achieving working women feel drained even when they’re doing “all the right things.”

This episode isn’t about time management or productivity hacks.

It’s about how a lack of self-belief and self-trust quietly running in the background drains our energy, leaving us feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, and feeling like we want to give up.

In this episode, I share:

  • Why exhaustion isn’t always about workload
  • How doubt and uncertainty drain more energy than action
  • Why acceptance is not giving up but a powerful reset
  • How to build self-trust when progress feels slow
  • What to do when even loved ones don’t believe in your dreams
  • How to stay committed without burning out or rushing the process

If you’re a working woman building something meaningful alongside a full life and wondering why it feels so heavy lately, this episode is for you.

Key Takeaways

  • Exhaustion often comes from doubting the outcome, not the effort
  • Acceptance clears emotional resistance and restores clarity
  • Self-belief is a muscle, not a personality trait
  • Big goals exist to shape who you become, not just what you achieve

182: The Moment I Realised My Job Wasn’t Safety (What Corporate Women Must Know)07 Dec 202500:30:48

Most corporate women are sold the same story:

Get a good job, climb the ladder, earn more and you’ll be safe.

But what happens when restructures, mergers, pandemics, or one decision you didn’t make suddenly threaten your income, your identity, and your family’s security?

In this episode, I share the moment I realised my 9–5 job was not safety and what true financial resilience really looks like for corporate women.

Drawing from nearly 30 years in HR, including hiring, firing, restructuring, and my own story of quitting a 6-figure job, taking on 6-figure debt, going back to corporate, and then building side income as a freelance trainer, I walk you through:

  • The illusions of job security we’re sold in our 20s and 30s
  • Why higher salaries often make you more financially vulnerable, not less
  • How layoffs, mergers, and pay cuts helped me see who really controls your income
  • The hidden emotional cost of depending on a single paycheck, partner, or employer
  • The mindset shift from “I need a stable job” to “I can create money on demand”
  • Why your existing skills and lived experience are enough to start earning outside your job
  • What “paying the price” really means and how to decide what’s worth it
  • The 3 core truths that helped me stop acting from fear and start building safety from within

This isn’t an episode about quitting your job overnight. It’s about never again outsourcing your security to someone else’s decision.

If this resonated and you want support to build your own safety, visibility, and side income while staying employed:

173: Why Energy (Not Hustle) Builds the Business You Want27 Sep 202500:37:13

We’ve been told the secret is to 'hustle harder'. But as working moms, that advice just burns us out.

Here’s the truth: It’s not hustle that creates the business you want - it’s your energy.

In this episode, I share:

  • Why your energy (who you’re being) matters more than your to-do list
  • How to embody the vibe of the woman who already has clients
  • The power of holding two truths at once—fear & faith, career & kids—and still moving forward
  • The daily intentions I set to keep going, even when life gets messy

This is the second pillar of my MES Framework: Energy.

Because it’s not just about what you do, it’s about who you are while doing it.

Listen now and start building your business in a way that feels good, not exhausting.

83. Empowering & Creating Opportunities for Women to Be Financially Free With Christine Looi05 Jun 202200:42:30

My guest this week is Christine Looi, a divorcee with 3 kids. Christine was retrenched from a high paying job, and subsequently faced financial instability and eventually lost hope.

With a proper mindset, accepting help, and acknowledging that change needs to be done to move on with life, she overcame her problems.

Since then, Christine has been inspired to create a community to help support and empower women to grow not just physically but emotionally. She’s also become a strong advocate in the parenting and charity community.

I spoke to Christine this week to get behind her thoughts and mindset about how she managed to bounce back from what life threw at her to build NRSC, a growing platform empowering women, creating opportunities for women to become financially free and build connections and community.

82. 4 Steps to Tap Into Your Feminine Energy (Step 4 of 4)29 May 202200:21:50

This is the final step in the 4-step podcast mini series to tap into your feminine energy.

This is the all important step to get different results.

We often think it’s what we’re ‘doing’ that needs to change to get the results we want.

Either we do more, or we change what we’re doing, thinking that’s what’s going to make the difference.

While action is important, it’s the kind of action that matters too.

And the kind of action you take is determined by the quality of your thoughts that reflect your beliefs, your identity, and your values, all of which can be affected by our past experiences.

More importantly, the emotions and meanings we’ve associated with those past experiences.

Listen to this week’s episode to find out more about how you can shift your thoughts so you can take the kind of different actions to get you what you want.

If you missed the earlier steps, you can catch up here:

Step 1 (https://sharonsinghsidhu.com/79)

Step 2 (https://sharonsinghsidhu.com/80)

Step 3 (https://sharonsinghsidhu.com/81)

81. 4 Steps to Tap Into Your Feminine Energy (Steps 3 of 4)22 May 202200:15:01

Today’s episode is step 3 of the 4 steps to tap into your feminine energy.

This step is all about ‘knowing’.

I share the different levels of knowing. There’s the ‘knowing’ where we amass information and head knowledge.

Then there’s a ‘knowing’ that’s what we feel certain about. Like the wind, or gravity, which we can’t see or touch, but we know it’s there because we feel it.

Listen to this episode to find out more about tapping into this deeper level of ‘knowing’ to help you get the results you want.

If you missed the previous 2 steps, you can listen to them here:

80. 4 Steps to Tap Into Your Feminine Energy (Step 2 of 4)15 May 202200:17:22

Today’s podcast is step 2 in the 4 step process of tapping into your feminine energy.

Step 2 is all about being curious about the signs you receive in life and how it informs you about being your true self and living a happy life that brings you true joy and satisfaction.

How do you tell the difference whether something is a sign or a calling for you to do something to live a happier, fuller life, or just mere coincidence?

If you’re like what I used to be, you may find yourself using your rational, conscious mind and go getting masculine energy more than your gentle, feeling, feminine energy.

There’s value in both, but in today’s world, many of us are out of balance. We use too much of our masculine energy, dismissing our feminine energy as unreliable and unproven or even unproductive.

Listen to today’s episode for step 2 to tap into our feminine energy to rebalance yourself and live a life you want.

If you missed step 1, go to https://sharonsinghsidhu.com/79 to catch up!

79. 4 Steps to Tap Into Your Feminine Energy (Step 1 of 4)08 May 202200:07:27

When it comes to achieving your goals and dreams, you need 2 types of actions.

The one we’re most familiar with is the go-getting, striving for results type of action, also called your masculine energy. And you don’t need to be a man to have this type of energy.

What’s often neglected is the feminine energy. This is about ‘stopping’ yourself from taking an action, pausing, paying attention or an allowing type of action. And men also have this.

We need both in balance to create the life we want.

However, for most of us, we haven’t been exposed to the feminine energy as much as the masculine energy.

So today, I want to share the first of 4 steps on how you can develop this feminine energy and balance it with your masculine energy.

Remember to come back next week for the second step!

P.S. Go to sharonsinghsidhu.com to book your coaching session with me if you want to change your mindset to create the life you want.

78. You Have What It Takes to Make Your Dreams Come True01 May 202200:15:09

It’s not actions that get you results. It’s the thoughts & beliefs behind your actions that do.

No one gets from zero to hero overnight. Not even weeks & months. Maybe even years.

But somehow, many people get discouraged & give up when they don’t get what they want.

Why?

Because they’ve lost the belief that they have what it takes to make it happen.

Maybe you’ve heard of success stories where the person who achieved success said she didn’t know what she was doing or she couldn’t believe she could achieve such success.

It’s not that she didn’t believe she could make it. It was because she was willing to stay open, curious and give herself permission to try and maybe even make mistakes and learn from them.

This is not the same as the person who hustles until the cows come home and still wonder why they haven’t made it.

The difference is that even though the successful person may not know exactly how to do everything or how everything would pan out, she had a small bit of belief that it would.

She could focus on that seed of belief and tuck aside the fear, resistance and doubt, at least for a while, to keep trying.

The hustler on the other hand, was doing all the doing, taking all the action, meanwhile, was feeling deep down she didn’t have what it takes to achieve the success she wants. She may have even said daily affirmations, yet had a seed of doubt.

She was subconsciously focused on this seed of doubt, instead of that seed of belief.

Ultimately, it’s your thoughts & beliefs that create your results.

I talk more about how your thoughts & beliefs are what get you results in this week’s podcast. Click on the link in my bio to listen.

I’m offering 5 FREE coaching sessions to help shift your thoughts & beliefs to 10 women. Yes, that’s 5 FREE sessions EACH to 10 of you. Go to https://sharonsinghsidhu.com for details.

76. Changing Your Mindset is Easy & Fast16 Apr 202200:18:01

For years, I held the belief that changing mindsets and attitudes is impossible.

As a trainer and recruiter, it’s what I’d always told myself.

That’s why I would say, we can train for skills, but we can’t train for mindset.

Today, I share how this long-held belief of mine, even as a trainer, recruiter and mindset coach was broken and turned upside down on its head.

I’m so grateful to the MAP Coaching Institute and what I’m learning in my certification program for revealing this to me.

Changing your mindset doesn’t have to be hard, or take a long time.

Listen to this episode as I share the insights and lessons I’m learning when it comes to mindset change being easy and fast.

75. 4 Steps to Dissolve Stress, Fear, Self-Doubt & Do Work You Love with Ease & Joy10 Apr 202200:31:34

In this episode, I share more about how exactly your mind works based on neuroscience and mindfulness research and how you can use this to help you deal with stress, fear and self-doubt that we all face when we’re trying to do work we love and create a life we want, or go after any big dreams for that matter.

Mindset is a big, vague word and while many of us understand the importance of mindset in helping us achieve our goals and reach success, there isn’t a methodical, valid, scientific system that’s proven to get results.

At least not until I discovered the MAP Method of changing Mindsets.

The MAP Method has provided the framework for us to change our mindsets in an organized and proven way so I’m so excited to talk about it with you this week.

It’s also made me realize my own 4-step process that I’ve been doing has actually been working on these principles and that’s why it’s worked out so well for me to help me overcome my own fears, limiting beliefs and self-doubt to create a career I want.

74. - 9 Tips To Make a Living Doing Work You Love & Create a Life of Your Dreams03 Apr 202200:36:09

After interviewing a number of women who are either running a business, in careers or pursuing a cause they love and believe in, I thought I’d share my own journey of how I ended up doing work I love, running this podcast on the side of my full-time job, pursuing my coaching certification and generally doing what’s needed to create the life I want.

In this episode, I share the following 9 tips to make a living doing work you love and how it looks like in my real life.

Here are the 9 points I share. Listen to the full episode for how this actually plays out in my life.

  1. Have the courage to try, be willing to make mistakes and look stupid
  2. Know what’s important to you, i.e. your values in life
  3. Detach from what others say about you - this one is easy to say, harder to do
  4. Everything is always happening for you so you’ll be okay
  5. Your ego & reptilian brain is a powerful force that keeps you in your comfort zone and sometimes this feels like ‘truth’
  6. Know the difference between your ego that keeps you safe & small and your superconscious mind that asks you to be brave & strong - and whose advice to take
  7. Following your innate wisdom means reason & instinct become indistinguishable. This is what living as your true self means
  8. Our mindset, mentality or thoughts about life create everything in our outer reality
  9. Reminder : We’ll all die, it’s just a matter of when and how, so what are you going to create in this life?

I hope these 9 insights help you relate it to your own life and get you thinking about what kind of life you want to create.

I’m also really excited to launch my Courageous & Confident Coaching Program where I help working women shift their beliefs of what’s possible, dissolve fears & doubts, and build mental and emotional resilience so that they can make a living doing work they love. 172: From 2 Years to ~5 Months: The 'Unsexy' Way I Signed Clients Faster21 Sep 202500:29:44

If you’ve been grinding for months (or years) and still don’t have the clients you want, I get it. For me, the time it took from 'I first meet you' to 'you become a client' used to be about two years. Now it’s about five months. That’s ~79% faster - with a full-time job, two kids, and 1 hour a day for my business.

In this episode, I walk through what actually changed. Spoiler: it wasn’t a shiny tactic. It was my identity and beliefs. When I started becoming the woman who already signs clients - the way I think, feel, show up - everything sped up. Strategies didn’t suddenly start working; I started working, because I was aligned.

What I cover:

  • Why strategies 'work for others' but don’t stick for you (yet)
  • How your identity + beliefs → emotions → actions → results (and timelines)
  • The uncomfortable truth behind my first refund (and why it was a gift)
  • Why my latest inbound, no-ads client felt easy and sustainable
  • My 12-month 'do the scary thing' experiment (and how I gut-check fear vs. truth)
  • The MES Framework I use now: Mindset, Energy, Systems

73. Getting over Perfectionism & Doing the Practical Thing with Shelby Abrahamsen 26 Mar 202201:01:17

If you’re one of those people who feels like you need to get everything perfect before you put your stuff out there, this episode is for you!

My guest this week is Shelby, a full-time artist and online content creator of Little Coffee Fox, and an online art education platform called Foxsy.

She loves watercolors, digital art, lettering, and tons of other artistic mediums, and helping people discover the power of creativity and how transformative it can be.

Shelby strives to help her students get in touch with art again and she’s definitely helped me rediscover my creative side that I abandoned since I was a kid because I thought I was ‘bad’ at art and it was a waste of time and money.

We talk about Shelby’s own journey from her very practical decision to study human factors psychology and her unexpected journey into the world of art as her career.

The bottomline is that sometimes doing something you love and turning it into your career involves lots of trial and error that’s not always neat, tidy and perfect. I love Shelby’s guiding motto of ‘done not perfect’. This is how she’s built a business that both she and her husband run full-time. Shelby is an inspiration of what’s possible when you give yourself permission to play and do the apparent ‘impractical thing’!

72. Dealing With Grief, Acceptance, Decisions, Time & Living A Life That Honours Yourself with Janine Kwoh19 Mar 202200:43:10

My guest today is Janine Kwoh, who is the owner / artist / one-person assembly line behind Kwohtations, an ever-evolving collection of greeting cards and gifts that reflect and celebrate a diversity of identities and life experiences. Janine is also the author of Welcome to the Grief Club, an illustrated book on grief for anyone who is grieving the death of a loved one.

Janine started making cards in 2011 as a way to reflect on and honor the lives we actually lead, versus the ones we think we should. Specifically, Janine uses a letterpress to make her cards by hand, one by one.

Her goal is to create products that encourage us to embrace the diversity, complexity, and kinship in our lived experiences. Janine’s hope is always that others will recognize some of themselves in what she creates and feel a bit more seen, more connected, and less alone.

We talked about grieving, making decisions, time management, what it means to honour yourself, recovery from setbacks, acceptance when things don’t go as planned and designing a life that suits you, rather than doing what you think you should do or what others say you should.

You can purchase Janine’s beautifully handcrafted cards and her book, Welcome to the Grief Club on her website, https://kwohtations.com/

71. Keeping the Faith & Staying Consistent with Your Dreams with Fashion Designer, Whitney Manney12 Mar 202200:47:51

Today’s guest is fashion designer, Whitney Manney. She says,

"My inspiration to create wearable art and textiles started at the age of 13, not because I was obsessed with fashion but because I was tired of growing out of my clothes so quickly. Remixing old clothes into my own creations inspired me to create the WHITNEYMANNEY label. "

This episode is filled with so many great stories and lessons like:

  • The role of parents in supporting our kids’ dream
  • Taking care of practical concerns without ever having to give up on your dreams
  • Keeping the faith and staying consistent to your goals
  • The importance of identifying with the person you want to be and acting before you believe it
  • And so much more!

I know you’ll gain so much inspiration and practical lessons from Whitney’s story, so have a listen to the episode today!

70. Learn A Practical Tool to Do Hard Things & Live a Life of Meaning with Dr Diana Hill05 Mar 202200:43:50

Diana Hill, Ph.D. is a modern psychologist, mom, and co-author of ACT Daily Journal:

Get unstuck and live fully with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. She is the founder and host of the podcast show Your LIfe in Process and a co-founder of the Psychologists Off the Clock podcast, blogs for Psychology Today and offers regular teachings in compassion and ACT for clinicians and the general public. Through her online teachings, executive coaching, and private therapy practice Diana encourages clients to let go of unhealthy striving and build psychological flexibility so that they can live more meaningful and fulfilling lives. Diana practices what she preaches in her daily life as a mom of two, homesteader, and yoga teacher.

I first learned about the work for Dr Diana Hill on her ‘From Thriving To Striving Summit’. I then worked through the ACT Daily Journal that Dr Diana Hill and Dr Debby Sorensen wrote, which is a 8-week program using the core processes in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help you deal with life’s challenges and live a happier and more fulfilling life.

Diana has a way of explaining ACT in a simple and practical way so it was a real treat and honour to have her on the podcast to talk about how she ended up doing the work she does and explain a little bit about ACT.

What I found most valuable was learning that living a values-based life and choosing what’s important for us can sometimes be scary. And that can be why we avoid it. But choosing to live a life of meaning requires us to do difficult things sometimes. ACT equips us with the tools  to do this and roll with life’s punches.

This was such a rich episode with lots to take away, so listen today!

69. Embrace All of Who You Are with Beauty YouTuber, Nutritionist & Health Coach, Serein Wu26 Feb 202201:10:59

Ok, full disclosure. When I first heard about my guest this week, I didn’t think to ask her about being on the podcast. I saw Serein Wu, beauty YouTuber and thought, she’s beautiful, and what's more, she used to be a dancer and an actor in LA! Way out of my league!

Turns out, Serein is funny, down-to-earth and such a friendly person! I’m so glad I eventually plucked up the courage to invite her to be on the podcast to talk about her journey with anxiety, depression and why she decided to leave show business to become a blogger, YouTuber and a Nutritionist & Health Coach.

Here’s the thing I learned since starting the podcast. There are so many generous women willing to support other women, who believe in other women especially when we don’t even believe in ourselves! Serein is one of those women. I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I enjoyed talking with Serein.

68. Transforming A Personal Loss Into Her Calling with Chef Daniella Malfitano19 Feb 202200:57:17

This week’s podcast guest talks about something close to my heart - FOOD!

Growing up overweight most of my childhood and still identifying as someone who has to watch her weight, I’m always interested in learning more about cultivating a healthy relationship with food.

My guest this week is chef Daniella Malfitano @chefdmalfi. Daniella is a chef of 15 years and a certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach and she’s passionate about helping you use food to heal and thrive.

She’s created and hosted Delicious Discoveries for PBS and was also the producer of the Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival, hosting all of the Food Network stars and celebrity chefs from all over the United States on the Disney stage. She’s written and produced her own in-park show about healthy living and edited cookbooks.

Her impressive culinary experience belies a super personable, relatable and wonderful human being. We talk about her transition from being a traditional chef to a plant-based chef and what Daniella refers to as being the antithesis of a chef! These days, Daniella streams live demonstrations of her plant-based recipes daily on her live cooking show.

Daniella takes us on her journey of listening to your intuition, acting on your calling, even when it’s difficult, painful and involves twists and turns along the way. Find out how Daniella went from nursing to food, what they have in common, what spirituality and God has to do with food, and how you can become plant-based even if it’s just a few times a week as a way to get healthier, save the planet and be kinder to animals!

67. Overcoming Fear & Limiting Beliefs to Create The Life You Want with Espree Devora12 Feb 202200:49:07

I’m very excited to share this week’s episode with Espree Devora.

Espree Devora recently featured in INC Magazine as one of the top 30 women in tech to follow and known as “the Girl who Gets it Done” uses technology and digital content to thoughtfully connect people in the tech industry and move them from online connections to meaningful offline relationships.

Her company WeAreLATech creates high quality digital content including podcasts, technology and curated offline experiences focused on the Los Angeles tech and global women in tech ecosystems.

Espree is also the producer and host of the Women in Tech Podcast. Women In Tech shares stories of ‘actionable empowerment'. Listeners walk away feeling “If she can do it, so can I.”

We didn’t talk about this during the interview, but you may also recognise Espree as the face of Clubhouse!

This episode is packed with so much valuable insights, lessons and takeaways from Espree about doing something you care deeply about in spite of the fear, limiting beliefs and doubts you feel and learning to love yourself, protect your energy, and be the person you want to be so that you can create the life you want.

She shares 6 powerful Self-Audit questions to ask yourself to help you become more aware and conscious about whether you’re living the life you truly want:

  1. Is how I’m living how I want to be living?
  2. Is who’s in my life who I want in my life?
  3. Do I feel empowered and energized by the people I’m surrounded by?
  4. Do I feel supported by them?
  5. Do I communicate honestly and authentically?
  6. Do I set boundaries for my needs?

Espree’s energy is infectious so I was surprised to learn she’s an introvert. I asked her how she protects her energy since what she does is so much about being around people. She admits this is something she’s paying more attention to and shares what helps her protect her energy:

  1. Having sufficient sleep
  2. Being in nature
  3. Eating well
  4. Having boundaries, saying no more than yes
  5. Meditating
  6. Doing something nice for yourself

Elaine Haren is a homeschooling mom and parenting coach who believes in the unconditional potential of children. As a Parenting Coach, Elaine helps parents deepen their connection with their children and helps motivate them through positive and loving parenting techniques. Elaine shares her goal of raising her kids as global citizens and equipping them with skills that will prepare them for the future and to become creators and problem solvers. She’s also interested in the future of education, and finding out about the latest ideas, resources, platforms, and technologies that will help parents prepare and best raise a child.

Whether homeschooling is something for your kids or not, this episode will remind us that regardless of our age, we’re all creative beings gifted with the ability to solve problems, so let’s not lose sight of this innate potential in all of us!

My guest this week is someone I had on episode 59 when we talked about her career as a trailblazer in the tough industry of advertising and her personal journey with IVF which also led to her instrumental role in shaping Singapore’s policy on IVF. She’s none other than Linda Locke.

Linda is a highly awarded creative with over 300 awards to her name including a string of accolades from local, regional and international shows and a Gold Cannes Lion winner and part of the prestigious Cannes Lions judging panel.

The 10th anniversary of the Singapore Advertising Hall of Fame Awards in 2008 saw Linda receiving the ‘Newsweek Lifetime Achievement Award’ in recognition of her three decades of service to the Singapore Advertising Industry. Linda was the first woman to achieve the award.

Linda’s extensive experience and accomplishments makes it such an honour and inspiration to me. She’s someone who breaks boundaries, challenges the status quo and works with great tenacity for what she believes is the right thing to do.

She calls herself stubborn, I see it as resilience and someone who always finds a way to make her ideas and dreams a reality.

I invited Linda back because the last time we spoke Linda briefly mentioned her work to get Agnes, her great grand aunt's contribution at creating the first hybrid orchid and Singapore’s national flower, the Vanda Miss Joaquim recognised.

This episode is a little longer than usual because I really wanted to get the behind the scenes of how Linda worked with multiple parties locally and abroad and in some instances, rather high level parties, to reinstate the correct facts of the history behind Agnes’ work with the Vanda Miss Joaquim orchid. Along the way, we talked about growing up today versus in earlier times, the impact of social media on our kids, storytelling, her new book series and more!

So grab a coffee or take us on your walk, your work out or drive and eavesdrop on our conversation about pushing through boundaries, following through to the end to get the resolution we want, how to work through challenges and roadblocks when going for something you really desire, growing up, parenting and more!

64. Pursuing Her Passion for Coaching While Battling Stage 4 Cancer with Snehal Ponde22 Jan 202200:46:08

This week I speak with Snehal Ponde, Life & Career Coach and a certified NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) practitioner. What makes Snehal’s journey from an HR professional to a Coach special, is how she decided to pursue her passion for Coaching while battling Stage 4 breast cancer.

Snehal and her husband moved to Singapore from Mumbai in 2019. In April 2020, the couple welcomed a healthy baby boy. She got detected with breast cancer when her baby was five-months old and had to initiate her treatment immediately since the cancer had spread to her lungs, liver and bone.

The last 16 months has seen her undergoing chemotherapy, hormonal therapy and radiation. Despite the pain and problems associated with cancer and its treatment, Snehal was determined not to allow cancer to define who she is and what she does.

While her treatment is still on, she is keen on speaking about her journey, in her quest to spread awareness about breast cancer, finding her passion and not treating cancer like a death sentence.

We go beyond talking about her cancer to discuss spirituality, one of my favourite topics. No one would fault Snehal if she had a negative perspective on life, but what’s so inspiring is that in spite of everything she’s going through - the uncertainties, fears, doubts and more - Snehal remains positive and determined to live life fully.

If you’re at a place where you feel everything is at a deadend, listen to this episode to get a wider perspective on life and your incredible power to make a difference. You’ll be inspired by Snehal’s story.

171: The False Choice: Career vs. Kids vs. a Third Way17 Sep 202500:24:20

Most working moms feel trapped in an impossible choice:

  •  Stay in your career and miss out on time with your kids.
  •  Or step back to be with your kids and give up financial security.

But what if that choice was never real to begin with?

In this episode, I share how I refused to accept the “either/or” path — and instead built a third way: growing my business in just one focused hour a day while working full-time and raising two kids.

Here’s what you’ll learn:

  • Why the “false choice” keeps so many moms stuck
  • How I carved out 1 hour a day to grow my side business
  • The 3 key components that make this possible (Mindset, Energy, Systems)
  • Quick wins you can try today to start creating your own third way

63. Net Worth = Self-Worth? Learn Why This Is True For Some More Than Others15 Jan 202200:43:04

This week, I spoke with Dr Deborah Ward about the consequences of basing our self-worth on financial success. I was interested in this topic because I wanted to understand why some people place so much importance on financial success compared with others. I learned from Dr Ward that it’s because some people derive their sense of self-worth from how financially successful they are. We also discussed what to do if you’re someone like that.

Besides the topic of deriving self-worth from financial success, Dr Ward also shares her insights and experiences about why she decided to pursue a career in academia and what you’ll need to be aware of if you’re considering going into academia. We talked about the key to success for a career in research, like the need for collaboration, of finding good mentors, how to view failure differently, and the tenacity, independence and balance needed to thrive.

Dr. Deborah Ward recently graduated with her Ph.D. in Social-Personality Psychology from University at Buffalo, The State University of New York. She earned her B.A. in Liberal Arts from Muhlenberg College, where she double majored in Psychology and Russian Studies, and her M.S. in Psychology from Villanova University. Currently, Dr. Ward is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Saginaw Valley State University.

Broadly, Dr. Ward studies topics related to identity threat. People are susceptible to identity-threat when they receive negative feedback related to important aspects of the self (e.g., competence, appearance). Much of her work revolves around the consequences of basing self-worth on financial success.

More recently, she has applied this work to academic contexts with the goal of understanding how to identify circumstances – in the classroom or university-wide – that could threaten students’ self-esteem or self-efficacy, and potentially discourage them from meeting or pursuing academic goals. Dr. Ward has also conducted research on numerous other topics, including romantic relationships, economic inequality, cultural norms, and coping with stressors.

I’m grateful to Dr Ward for sharing her perspective, wisdom and insights from her work and her own journey and I know you’ll enjoy this one!

You can connect with Dr Ward through email at deward@svsu.edu

62. Speaking In Your Powerful, Authentic Voice with Ashleigh Rennie08 Jan 202200:51:59

This week’s episode is with Ashleigh Rennie. Ashleigh is a conversion copywriter and copy strategist. She works with high-performing business women all over the world, who are looking to increase their impact, expand their audience, and connect with their communities in the most authentic and human way imaginable.

It was Siobhain Danaher, one of my previous guests, who introduced me to Ashleigh because Ashleigh had written a blog post about how having to adapt to changing financial circumstances has led to the kind of relationship she has with money. We also talked about how she ended up doing what she does now, which is to help women entrepreneurs discover and speak in their truest and most authentic voice.

These 2 themes of money and authenticity couldn’t have come at a better time as this podcast transitions from one that used to primarily discuss our relationship with money to one that now is all about helping you follow your passions and pursue your dreams to create a life your heart desires. To do that, you have to find who your true self is. You can’t speak in your authentic voice, or say and do what your heart desires if you don’t know who your true self even is.

Ashleigh also recommends a book, The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron, which is a 12-week workbook that I’m now halfway through and I thoroughly enjoy and suggest you pick up if you want to find your inner voice and creativity that is essential to living a life of passion and doing what your heart loves.

I see all this happening in perfect timing to support this transition for the podcast and for me personally in finding and speaking in my most authentic, true voice, from my heart. All of which is to say how everything is always happening synchronously for us, if we care to pay attention.

Ashleigh is so much fun to talk to and please check out her website and follow her on Instagram. Her newsletters are always a blast and she has an awesome quiz to find out your brand’s unique voice. The links are found below.

060. ‘Freeze Your Eggs!’ Learn Why With Anna Bervander11 Dec 202100:53:51

This week’s episode is a continuation of where we left off from Episode 052 with Lagom Kids.

When I asked co-founder of Lagom Kids, Anna if she had any final advice at the end of the episode for you listeners, she suggested for women to ‘freeze your eggs!’.

Well that intrigued me and we had a brief chat about it after the interview and I found out a little more about her personal journey with IVF. That’s how we also talked about Linda Locke from last week’s episode. Linda was Anna’s mentor through her IVF journey.

If you’re wondering whether you should freeze your eggs, or know a loved one or friend who is considering this, or maybe you just want to learn a bit more about this topic, then I hope Anna’s honest and open sharing will give you some insight from her perspective.

I really appreciate Anna offering to share this personal experience in the hope of helping someone out there. Don’t forget to let Anna know if what she’s shared helped you in some way.

Enjoy!

059. Inside the Mind of Linda Locke, Accomplished Leader In Advertising, IVF Warrior, Children’s Book Author & Great Grandniece of Agnes Joaquim, the first woman in the world to create a Hybrid Orchid, Singapore’s National Flower04 Dec 202101:02:42

This week’s podcast is an epic one!

I talked to Linda Locke, accomplished leader in the advertising industry, IVF warrior, children’s book author and great grandniece of Agnes Joaquim, the brilliant woman who created the first hybrid orchid and Singapore’s national flower, the Vanda Miss Joaquim orchid in 1893.

We talked about her advancement as graphic designer to senior leadership in the tough industry of advertising, her heart wrenching and triumphant journey with IVF, how she helped to shape the history of IVF in Singapore and so much more.

Linda shares her wisdom about succeeding as a woman in a fast-paced, highly demanding industry like advertising and when she switched gears with her decision to become a mom. That decision led her right into her next role as IVF warrior and again, Linda is a trailblazer here, helping to shape Singapore’s IVF policy.

Here are the key points Linda touches on about that she thinks helped her succeed:

  • Be persistent in getting the results you want.
  • When things don’t work out the way you want them to or when you encounter challenges, overcome them if you can. If you can’t, find a way to work around them.
  • Look for solutions and learn how to communicate your ideas and solutions effectively so that people buy into your vision.
  • Get the results for people so that they trust that you’re the person who can help them.
  • Build trust by being authentic so people know what they see is what they get.
  • Be transparent and direct with the truth.
  • Be self-aware and know your strengths and weaknesses. Use your strengths and have people around you who can complement your weaknesses.
  • Have mentors who can guide you and help you get better at what you do.
  • Don’t be afraid to ask questions when you don’t know, then apply what you learnt.
  • Think big, have a vision that’s beyond yourself, then find the resources to make that vision happen.

Linda’s tenacity and resilience is clear when you hear her talk about her career and  IVF journey. You will be inspired.

This was such a wonderful conversation, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it and learn a lot in the process!

053. What Does Mindfulness Have To Do With Money? (A Lot)22 Oct 202100:14:43

When I embarked on my journey to find out how I could live a financially free life where I could break free from the tyranny of being worried and stressed out about not having enough money for the lifestyle I wanted for me and our kids, I never thought I'd find it in MINDFULNESS.

As I delved deeper into mindfulness, I discovered that practising mindfulness is exactly the thing that brought the peace of mind, confidence and a sense of abundance and gratitude about money that I was searching for. It wasn’t making more money that did it for me. It was through mindfulness that I found the security and reassurance I'd always been looking for externally - be that in other people, my education and qualifications or my job.

The practice of mindfulness has helped me to stop stressing about money and still enjoy life, even while paying off our 6-figure business debt, even through having my income reduced because of the pandemic, and living with the uncertainties of corporate life during a period of mergers and acquisitions.

Listen to this episode to learn how mindfulness can help you stress less over your money and financial life.

052. What Goldilocks & The Three Bears Can Teach You About Life, Business, Resilience & Self-Discovery with Lagom Kids Owners, Anna & Toni15 Oct 202100:58:28

This week’s episode is a fun one with Anna & Toni who run Lagom Kids, the first homegrown kids retail and activity brand to use comfort, exploration and experience to inspire play to learn and discover this beautiful world of ours.

Lagom is a Swedish word that means “just right” and Anna & Toni share how they are using the theme of Goldilocks & The Three Bears to bring children on a journey of self-discovery and growth with the idea of "not too little and not too much" by seeking out what is "just right" for them. This is how our kids will experience and live a life of happiness.

Toni and Anna from Lagom Kids may have grown up worlds apart, but they shared the same free spirit of adventure, exploration, and self-discovery as young girls. They bring their passion and collective life experience as individuals, wives and mothers with their own families to inspire play, stories and confidence to a new generation of children.

I loved this conversation with Anna & Toni because we talked about not just how they came to start, run, grow and evolve their business but also:

  • Working as two very different people and learning to complement each other
  • Thriving in retail amidst COVID-19
  • Evolving a new part of the business that is serving such an important need for our kids by encouraging self-discovery, creativity and imagination
  • Making choices, staying present, freezing our eggs and so much more!

This is a must-listen for all you women & moms. And check out the following resources mentioned on the show.

051. Learn How to Get A Money Making Mindset with Life & Time Management Coach, Gretta Scholten08 Oct 202100:40:55

This week’s guest is Gretta Scholten, a certified life and time management coach. She helps women overcome overwhelm, procrastination, analysis paralysis so they can create habits and routines they love and feel productive and fulfilled every single day.

What I love about Gretta and her story is her resilience and tenacity around money which comes through so clearly when you talk to her. As a breadwinner and dealing with moments of having a negative account balance, Gretta shares how even despite such challenging times, she’s been able to coach herself and adopt the mindset necessary to create money in her life.

I found Gretta’s grounded energy to be very calming and reassuring. I’m impressed by Gretta’s rapid transition from Occupational Therapist to Life & Time Management Coach and how she’s managed to deal with the financial pressure on a new business in such a calm, rational and spiritual way.

Gretta shares so much valuable insights about:

  • How to go for what your heart wants (also known as desire) and to start before you’re ready even though your brain’s always going to talk you out of it because it’s trying to keep you safe.
  • How money can be easy instead of always feeling difficult. Gretta shares openly about how she deals with scary moments of a negative account balance.
  • How not to throw money at problems thinking that money will solve them. Learn the process that Gretta uses to ensure whatever money she spends helps her deal with a problem.
  • The key to getting the things that are important to you done and how to develop self-trust to become the person who always follows through.
  • And so much more!

A big thank you to Samantha Siffring @samanthahms as well for the introduction to Gretta. I connected with Gretta through Samantha’s podcast and coaching program - both which I highly recommend!

050. How To Get Over Feeling ‘Freaking Scared’ of Making Big Financial Decisions & Taking Risks to Go For Your Dreams with Kelsey Kerslake01 Oct 202100:40:50

This week’s guest is Kelsey Kerslake, CEO, Creative Director, and Business Coach at Pinegate Road and the Aligned Business Academy.

Over the last decade Kelsey has helped hundreds of online business owners build their brands and online presences. She believes deeply that everyone has the potential to make their dreams a reality and has a passion for supporting online service providers, coaches, and educators to help them lead business and live lives that are fulfilling AND profitable.

We talked about how Kelsey turned her fun side hustle into her current branding agency while working a corporate job at American Greetings before deciding to strike out on her own as a business owner when she started earning more from her side hustle than her full-time job.

This was such a valuable lesson in financial mindset, decision making, taking risks, overcoming fears and so much more!

Some of the things we talked about were:

  • How to make decisions from your ‘future self’ instead of from fear.
  • How to run a profitable business even without having any formal business training or background and how she grew her team to help her continue to grow her business while working her full-time corporate job.
  • Kelsey’s time management process by working from her ideal schedule.
  • How to charge the ‘right’ price for your services or products. This was a fantastic crash course by Kelsey on Pricing! I loved this portion of our chat getting business advice from Kelsey including the mindset needed to succeed at this level of financial success
  • Getting over the fear of taking risks financially for her business.
  • The peace that comes from being financially free.
  • And more!

046. Why Giving Up Is A Great Way To Help You Get What You Want03 Sep 202100:18:32

‘Don’t give up!’

‘Winners don’t quit! Quitters don’t win!’

Don’t you ever sometimes feel so sick of hearing so much ‘ra-ra’ motivational talk?

Especially when you’ve been giving your all, pressing on, never giving up...until now.

You feel like you’ve had enough, and you just want to throw in the towel.

Well, that might actually be a very good idea!

What?

Yes, in this week’s episode, I talk about how giving up actually helped me achieve my goals.

When you feel like you’ve had enough, it may just be a sign for you to give up the fight.

I mean give up fighting and resisting the current situation you find yourself in.

As much as you don’t like it, and wished you were somewhere else, thinking like that is precisely what’s preventing you from achieving your goals and dreams!

Listen to this week’s episode to learn how to ‘give up’ so that you can actually get what you want.

170: Fear, Growth, and Saying No: Lessons from My 12-Month Experiment06 Sep 202500:23:58

This week I’m getting very real with you about something we all face as working moms building a business: fear.

  • Fear of rejection.
  • Fear of not being approved of.
  • Fear of doing something that feels uncomfortable but is necessary for growth.

I share a very personal story about how even something as simple as saying “no” can feel terrifying, and how I’m learning to check in with my gut (through Human Design) and take action anyway.

In this episode, we’ll explore:

  • Why most of our default reactions come from fear (and how to shift to love-based action).
  • How discomfort isn’t a sign you’re on the wrong path but often the exact signal you’re growing.
  • My 12-month experiment to practice “doing the scary thing” and leaning into what feels uncomfortable.
  • A personal example of how saying no revealed where I still needed growth.
  • Why trusting yourself is the most important step in creating a life and business on your terms.

If you’ve ever felt stuck in fear or struggled with people-pleasing, this one’s for you.

After turning the blog into a profitable, six-figure business, Kate started getting questions from people nearly daily about how she did it. So she started The Six-Figure Blog Academy, her digital course where Kate empowers her students with actionable advice and inspirational content to help them make their dreams of being their own boss a reality.

We talk about her journey from corporate employee, to personal finance blogger and finally to what she does with passion today. Along the way, she and her husband also paid off $120,000 of debt in 2 short years on a single, middle-class income!

Monica’ story is inspiring on so many levels that I could relate with as I’m sure you will too.

Key Takeaways from this episode:

  • The steps towards reaching your dreams and desires aren't always all laid out in front of you before you take the first step. It’s the twists, turns, detours, backtracks that are the necessary steps to take towards them. Keep trying and have faith it will work out.
  • It’s possible to be a sought after expert in a space where you could be a beginner in now. Monica never saw herself as a Facebook & Instagram Ad expert back when she was thinking about starting her own business. It was paying attention to the feedback from other people she was getting and the results she was seeing that led her there.
  • Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there to tell people what you do and how you help.
  • How Facebook Ads can help you grow your business and the common questions Monica gets about Facebook Ads.
  • And so much more!

Money goes beyond just the dollars and cents.

We kinda know this in our heads, but do we live and apply this knowledge in our everyday lives?

Especially when we’re pressed a little bit financially?

As someone whose instinctive knee-jerk reaction to any kind of news that seemed to threaten my financial well-being was fear, worry and anxiety, I can tell you that unless you make a conscious effort to stay aware of how life is making you feel especially around money, it’s easy to let money worries completely take over.

So how can we live with more conscious awareness when it comes to something as practical and tangible to money?

With over 30 years of corporate experience in financial services, Cindy now teaches you how to get your mind straight with money. Cindy empowers driven women to upgrade their money wellness so they can build their legacy and do good in the world.

169: Scared of Promoting Yourself? Here’s the Reframe That Changed Everything for Me30 Aug 202500:31:58

If you’re a working mom with a side business, you’ve probably felt the fear of putting yourself 'out there'. Maybe it feels selfish, salesy, or just plain uncomfortable to talk about yourself online, especially when you’ve got colleagues, bosses, or even family watching.

I know, because I’ve been there. For years, I hid behind quotes, generic posts, or faceless updates because showing me felt too vulnerable. But here’s what I learned: staying invisible isn’t humble, it’s actually holding you back from helping the very people who need you.

In this episode, I share:

  • Why self-promotion isn’t selfish (it’s service)
  • How I went from hiding to posting photos, soundbites, and real stories
  • Simple, safe first steps you can take to build visibility without overwhelm
  • A framework (Before → During → After → Debrief) to share your journey in a way that connects and builds trust
  • Tips for balancing visibility with professionalism when you’re still employed

It’s always scary at first but it gets easier. And showing up online with intention can be the key that unlocks your first client.

028. Starting from Scratch to Reaching the Heights of Accomplishment, with Soul Rich Woman Founder, Former Miss Singapore, Business Coach and Mentor, Genecia Alluora25 Apr 202100:36:26

It’s easy to confuse the way to wealth and well-being as more ‘doing’ and ‘action’ alone, when actually, it’s when we’re able to do the inner soul work that everything else falls into place.

That doesn’t mean all you have to do is close your eyes and think about riches for it to land your lap. What it means is to find the balance between achievement externally that’s aligned to achievement internally in your soul.

My guest this week is Genecia Alluora, former Miss Singapore, Cafe Retail Chain Owner, Business Coach and Founder of Soul Rich Woman, the #1 female entrepreneur network in Southeast Asia.

Genecia talks about how she’s overcome being bullied and mocked in school to how she’s accomplished so much in her life today.

Genecia’s network connects more than 200,000 women across the region in the ‘Soul F’ membership program the F-word meaning - Being Fabulous, Having Freedom, Financial Independence and Family.

Key Takeaways from this episode:

  • The importance of aligning your inner soul with your external life for your well-being
  • How starting from wherever you are, rather than waiting for perfection is what gets you the results you want
  • The things that happen in your life happen for a reason - what are you learning from it and how are you using them to move forward?
  • Failures are never just failures. They are stepping stones to real and true freedom.

I learned a lot from Genecia and I’m sure you’ll do too!

027. From Dentist to Coach, Healer & Teacher and Finding Alignment Between Your Head, Your Heart and Your Soul with Dr Shirin Hedayati18 Apr 202100:48:26

Do you grapple with reconciling your rational, logical mind and your intuitive, inner wisdom?

I know I have! Those of us raised in Western education have been trained to use our rational, logical minds much more than using our inner, intuitive, ‘sixth sense’.

Dr Shirin was such a joy to talk to because she has combined her training in dentistry to do healing, energy work with her clients to help them reach a higher level of well-being.

Key Takeaways from this episode:

  • The most successful business idea or the most successful lifestyle is when your heart, your head and your soul are in alignment - you don’t have to choose one over another.
  • True health is when all 5 aspects of your being are functioning well - physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, energetic.
  • How we all have living guides on what Dr Shirin calls the Voyage of our Soul
  • Discovering and doing what really moves you rather than what you’ve been told you ought to do

Dr Shirin’s own story about how she ended up going from dentistry to coach, healer and teacher is gripping and a must listen, especially for those of you still believing you must choose either head over heart or heart over head!
