5 Ways to Build Know, Like & Trust in 2026 (You Can't Afford to Ignore This!)12 Jan 202600:19:57

If sales feel slower right now, you're not imagining it. In this episode, I'm breaking down the real reason "brand new exposure customers" aren't buying as fast as they used to, and what you must do in 2026 to build know, like, and trust faster than everyone else. Because I'm telling you right now, this year is going to separate the people who get really intentional about trust from the people who stay passive and hope things go back to "normal." I'm giving you my playbook: what to post, where to show up, how to leverage other people's platforms, and why a mind-blowing low-ticket offer might be your biggest growth move of the year.

What You'll Learn In This Episode
  • Why sales from new audiences are moving slower (and what's changed in the market.)

  • What a "trust recession" actually looks like in real business terms.

  • The 5 fastest ways to build know, like, and trust in 2026.

  • Why face-to-camera content matters more than ever (and how to do it imperfectly.)

  • The power of having a platform that creates repetitive exposure (podcast, YouTube, email, text.)

  • How in-person visibility speeds up trust even if you're an introvert.

  • The "Costco sample" strategy: low-ticket offers that convert into high-ticket customers.
The 80/20 shift I'm seeing right now, and how to make sure you're on the winning side.

The Mental Habit That's Quietly Blocking Your Income Growth with Lori Harder07 Jan 202600:17:39

Worry may feel normal, but it's quietly draining your energy, confidence, and results. In this episode, Lori and I dive into why worry isn't just a habit, it's a signal. A signal that you're operating from fear instead of faith, lack instead of certainty. We talk about how worrying steals time you could be using to create solutions, how it impacts your energy in business and relationships, and why most of the things you stress about never actually happen. We also share exercises to interrupt worry in real time, including how to "play the movie to the end" and how to borrow certainty from people who've already walked the path ahead of you. Get ready to stop feeding worry and start leading your life and business with intention.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Why worry is a sign of misplaced faith.

  • The surprising amount of time worry steals from your life.

  • A 10 minute exercise that exposes how unnecessary most worries are.

  • How worry creates a lack of energy and leads to bad business decisions.

  • The "play the movie to the end" method to dissolve fear.

Should You Add Another Offer Or Just Double Down On One?08 Dec 202500:21:54

Most entrepreneurs don't add new products because it's smart. They add them because they're bored, anxious, or chasing the next dopamine hit. In this episode, I break down the reason creating more offers usually hurts your business instead of helping it. I share the three questions you must answer before adding anything new, why your flagship product deserves 80% of your focus, and how distraction is the fastest way to kill momentum. Get ready to simplify your business, refocus your energy, and scale faster than ever.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The three questions that tell you if it's actually time to create something new.

  • Why "the money is in the monotony" and what that means for your next 24 months.

  • Why adding more products usually decreases your income.

  • One question to see if your current offer can actually scale to your income goals.

  • How boredom quietly kills high-earning businesses.

Proof You Can Create Your Dream Life No Matter Where You're Starting From05 Feb 202500:19:03

Lori and I took a trip down memory lane over lunch and realized just how much our early struggles shaped who we are today. I used to plow snow in freezing Wisconsin and even cleaned bar bathrooms at 3 AM, while Lori used to wake up at 4 AM to work the drive-thru at a coffee hut. Looking back, we realized those experiences weren't just about survival, they built the work ethic that set us up for success. We also break down the biggest lessons we learned from those years, why most people stay stuck, and the ONE mindset shift that changed everything for us.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The ONE THING you tolerate that determines your success.

  • Common pitfalls that keep most people stuck in life and business.

  • The #1 lesson we learned from our toughest struggles.

  • How I ended up cleaning bars at 3 AM.

  • The real secret to success (it's NOT just working harder).

  • The mindset shift that changed EVERYTHING for us.

89: Three Important Lessons I've Learned from These Billionaires11 Jan 201800:09:31

Some of you may know that some of my favorite books are actual biographies – most specifically of billionaires. I've learned so much by reading about their actual experiences – the wins and fails – and today, I'm going to share my top three lessons I've learned from billionaires Warren Buffett, Elon Musk and Richard Branson.

Lesson No. 1 – In order to get some of your time back and get more done, give yourself permission to say NO to more things.

"The difference between successful people and really successful people is that the really successful people say no to almost everything."  – Warren Buffett

Time is our most valuable asset and it should be invested in the same fashion.

"Invest your time in all the right places."

By saying no, you're gaining back both time and energy, and you're able to get laser focused on the areas that need it. Even if it's gaining back one hour a day, that's getting back just over 15 days in one year! Just think of what you could do with that time with your family and friends.

Lesson No. 2 – Go all in!

"No matter what you've done in the past, you've got to check your ego at the door and be willing to ask for help."

Elon Musk is the perfect example of this as he is so passionate about his dreams/businesses. So much so that he nearly went broke multiple times trying to achieve them. Needless to say, he now has billion-dollar companies and is himself a billionaire.

Lesson No. 3 – Make an impact while living a fun and well-rounded life.

"A life worth living is a life full of well-rounded memories and impact."

Make it a rich, fulfilling and meaningful life without apologizing. Don't make it a life about just your family… or just your business… or just your adventures… Do it all, because how you do anything is how you do everything.

These are three of the lessons I tap into when focusing on how I want to live my life. And no matter how you define success, I'm guessing these three billionaires will pass the test. After all, in my opinion they're all living my motto: "When good people make good money, they do great things."

In This Episode You Will Learn:

  • How billionaires Warren Buffet, Elon Musk and Richard Branson have influenced my life and businesses
  • Why saying no to more things is so valuable
  • The importance of going all in
  • Why we should strive to live a well-rounded life with impact

88: Our Plans for Success in 2018 with Lori Harder08 Jan 201801:00:18

My wife, Lori, is back for another dual podcast! Both of us have been lit over here since ringing in the New Year and we wanted to share some of our thoughts out loud regarding some of the things we've been working on going into 2018 (hint: new eCourse coming in the next couple months).

First and foremost, we've both done a lot of reassessing and have gotten really clear and laser-focused on what we want to see and do this year – individually and as a couple – both in business and in play. Find out what we're working to get rid of and what we're working to align ourselves with more – some things may surprise you! We're putting it all about there in this super candid conversation – you don't want to miss it!

--

Question Highlights:

  • What was something you loved that we did on New Year's Eve?
  • What is something you do to get clear on your goals/intentions?
  • What are your mindset blocks?
  • What is one of the rituals that you're committed to?
  • What are your favorite ways to find tribe?
  • How do you find the energy to keep up with your habits/rituals and how do you stay in the energy to keep doing it?
  • Why should people be unapologetic about their pursuit of wealth and success?

In This Episode We Talk about:

  • Our rituals, how we set goals and how we figure out what the next step will be
  • Getting clear
  • Finding and following the things that light you up
  • Releasing judgment
  • Aligning beliefs with intentions
  • Preventing negative thoughts from taking root and nurturing positive thoughts
  • Chris and Lori's rituals
  • The importance of boundaries to avoid resentment
  • Finding a tribe that helps you think bigger or reinforce positive thoughts
  • Making tiny adjustments one at a time in order to tackle bigger challenges
  • Why play is such a big deal
  • And so much more…

Chris and Lori's Thoughts…

"Clarity is power."

"It's simple, but it's not easy."

"Focus on the impact you're going to make. Anything else robs you of your happiness

and the world of your gifts."

"We don't find our voice in the easy times."

"Create tribe for transition."

"Elevate yourself through the things you enjoy most, which in turn then elevates other people."

"If it brings you happiness and joy – follow it."

"Choose possibilities and expansion over fear."

"Make choices, not excuses."

"Your version of happy is just that."

87: Bust Through This Limiting Belief Once and for All04 Jan 201800:08:56

Today's episode is all about busting through a limiting belief that you may not even know you have. In fact, this very belief may even be holding you back from greater success. Here it is… So many people think that we're supposed to feel good ALL the time on the quest of entrepreneurship. OK, I'm not saying I want you to feel crappy about it, but here are my thoughts on it.

The journey of entrepreneurship isn't supposed to feel good. I know it sounds crazy, but full honesty, a large portion of the time we don't know what we're doing, it feels clunky or awkward and we fail a ton! But unfortunately, we all live in the era of social media where we all see everyone's highlight reels. I'm all for this, because I feel like I'm pretty happy most of the time, but I also know that I feel frustrated, under-motivated or have a ton of work to get done – and I try to share that with my followers as well.

"The wins are not the entire picture of reality."

I feel it is so important to understand the full circle of entrepreneurship – the ups, downs and in-betweens. The problem is that we've all been conditioned to think that when we mess up or haven't gotten it all figured out we think we're doing it wrong. Hint… You're NOT!

Reality check. Think of the person you love to follow on IG. If you think they have X followers, now cut that in half to get the real number. Don't get discouraged! You're figuring it out just like the rest of us. Go into things without abandon and try new things without fear of failure.

"If you're not failing at all, you're probably doing it wrong."

Let's go into 2018 by getting real and sharing all side of entrepreneurship. Use this mantra as a reminder!

"It's OK to be silly, to feel silly and look silly."

In This Episode You Will Learn:

  • Why feeling good all the time about entrepreneurship isn't necessarily a guarantee for success
  • What the reality of entrepreneurship really looks like
  • Why we've been conditioned to think we're doing it wrong.

Peta Kelly's most favourite title is HUMAN AF. She is a conscious entrepreneur, author, speaker and philanthropist. She was recently featured in Forbes Magazine and was just ranked by Inc Magazine in the Top 10 Female Entrepreneurs changing the world.

She's is an unbridled soul and barefoot bandit on a mission to unleash the jeaniius of GenY's globally.

She dropped being a PhD science nerd at the age of 22 and went on the pursuit of that 'thing' that was calling her higher. That's when she found her first business pursuit in network marketing and She became a 7 figure a year earner in Isagenix by the age of 26. Her network marketing journey led her to her bigger, more global soul work and now she's building a global enterprise, Jeaniius – a global hub of nakedly brilliant people, mobilized to create change for our planet through conscious enterprise and magical collaborations.

85: Eight Words That Cripple Your Success28 Dec 201700:16:54

Words are more powerful than we realize, but today I'm going I'm specifically highlighting eight words that may be crippling your success. We all use them without realizing it and often don't even intend to use them.

So let's start 2018 right and kick the following words out of our vocabulary and watch as you see an uptick in your success.

  • TRY – You'll either do something or you won't. By saying "try" you're already building in an excuse. Do or do not – those are your choices.

  • MAYBE – By using this word, you're telling others that you have no intent on following through, which can lead to feeling overwhelmed. Make this the year of YES or NO – period.

  • SOON – This instantly puts something off until "later." This word is also a wake-up call you've committed to too many things and you must cut what's not serving you.

  • POSSIBLY – The word says, "if I feel like it, I'll do it." You're not fully committed to anything and you're feeling overbooked and stressed. Make a commitment.

  • IF – If means you're putting a condition on following through and that doesn't make you an ideal business partner.

"Nobody wants to be on the other side of your if."

  • BECAUSE – This word acts as a justifier – and excuse. "I can't meet with that person because…" You shouldn't have to talk endlessly about why you can't.

"YES and NO are complete sentences."

  • WANT – This is probably the most important word to kick to the curb… The word indicates lack and if you're a frequent listener, you know we shoot for abundance. Using this word means there's a disconnect between what you want and what you desire.

"Things only appear once you know how to make them certain."

  • LUCKY – Last but still impactful, simply put I don't believe in luck, I believe in good fortune. And using this word puts you in a powerless position.

There you have it! Do you notice these words used frequently in your day-to-day interactions? If so, share with me on IG (@chriswharder) and let me know what you'll replace them with!

In This Episode You Will Learn:

  • The eight words that we must eliminate from our vocabulary in 2018
  • Why being certain in your decisions makes you an ideal business partner
  • And much more…

84: What is a Net Positive Business and Why is it the Future with Chris Sukornyk26 Dec 201700:37:53

I am so excited to continue a conversation that I had a couple months ago in Costa Rica with serial tech entrepreneur, Chris Sukornyk. Originally from Canada with entrepreneurial parents, entrepreneurship was built into his DNA. With a passion for technology, Chris attended University, but felt the teachings were out of tune with reality. He left, just one credit shy of graduating (his parents still remind him) and built his first business.

Since that time, Chris has founded (and sold) four other businesses and is now focusing on his next endeavor, which is to help create more net positive businesses and help ecopreneurs. I love that he is intent on creating businesses that are in alignment with his passion as well as his core values around the environment and social responsibility.

Listen in to this enlightening episode to find out how net positive entrepreneurship is the up and coming trend to businesses everywhere and how you can make an impact by either creating one or being a part of one.

--

Question Highlights:

  • What's your best entrepreneurial lessons you learned from your parents?
  • With your most recent advertising tech company, how did you go from zero to 170 employees in such a short amount of time?
  • What was the conflict that came up with your advertising tech business?
  • How did you become realigned with it?
  • Do you think you would be this passionate about net positive businesses if you hadn't woken up in a business that wasn't net positive for you?
  • What makes a net positive company different than the old way of doing business?
  • How do you reconcile your dad's advice ("All that matters is sales.") with the impact the company is making?
  • Does building a net positive business present a different set of hurdles than we've seen in the past?
  • How do you want your children to grow up viewing entrepreneurship and money?
  • How do you view money?
  • Do you think it's a masculine trait to pursue wealth or can it be a feminine trait as well?
  • Do you feel that your view of money has shifted since getting out of North America and moving down to Costa Rica?

In This Episode You Will Learn:

  • How Chris came to be such a successful serial tech entrepreneur
  • The importance of connecting with your partners/employees
  • What having a net positive business means
  • How Chris navigated his business when he had lost his passion for it
  • What an ecopreneur is
  • How businesses impact the environment and why they need to minimize it
  • Why people want to hear about the founder or story behind a product
  • Why it's crucial to find investors who are aligned with your passion
  • Why we need socially minded startups who compete/challenge legacy businesses that are doing damage in the world
  • How we can integrate giving back into our lives and the businesses we create
  • And so much more…

Chris's Thoughts…

"The Zero to Hero Life of a Serial Entrepreneur: Either hit it out of the park or one day before the sale, everything could fall apart."

"If your business is aligned with your passion, you're never tired."

"There's nothing wrong with having nice things, but we have to be aware of the impact we're making."

"There has to be more – you have to give back."

"Money is just a vehicle that has value and it can be exchanged for different things."

"Good things are at the end of dirt roads."

--

Chris is a serial entrepreneur having founded and sold five tech startups with combined exits of more than $250 million. In 2015, Chris was recognized by Ernst & Young as the provincial winner of the Canadian Entrepreneur of the Year awards.

A lifelong environmentalist and father of four, Chris recently relocated from Toronto to Costa Rica and is now focused on investing and advising "ecopreneurs," founders with a vision to better the world through sustainable, mindful and socially conscious products and services.

83: Our FORMULA to CHOOSE Your INCOME For Next Year21 Dec 201700:17:39

I don't know about you, but I love when the end of the year approaches. I get super excited about the holidays (which many of you know), but what some you don't know is that I get super stoked about sitting down with Lori on New Year's Eve to go over the year's highs and lows and planning out our yearly income for the upcoming year. It's such a great practice and today, I'm going to share that exact plan that we've been using (with success) for the past several years.

"Why leave it up to chance when you can call your shot, plan what you want to make and make it happen."

This year, I want you too to take control of your abundance, and part of that process is to pick your target income number. Full disclosure, Lori and I have never met our exact number, but we're also consistently choosing a number that reflects massive growth over the year before. But don't let that worry you… As they say, "shoot for the stars and land on the moon."

"When you have the number picked out and you're serious about it then your actions naturally follow suit to ensure that you hit it.

Keep in mind that it is imperative to pick a number that challenges your current income.

"By not changing your goals or plan, you're automatically choosing by default your current situation."

Once that number is chosen, you'll work backward to figure out how you're going to reach it. As long as you're committed to that number, you'd be surprised at all the different income sources that pop up.

"There are so many ways to make money, you just have to commit to finding them."

Draw on your skillset to create products or programs and fill in the gaps. Whether it's ebooks, podcasts, mastermind groups or affiliate programs, you can exceed your current income and reach your goals (or come pretty darn close to them).

Here's one example of how to get to $100,000 if you're currently bringing in $60,000:

  • Current yearly income = $60,000
  • You decide to create a coaching program that costs $100/week for one year.

4 clients = $20,000

  • The coaching was in high demand so you create an e-course which costs $99. You sell 202 e-courses over the year equaling $20,000

$60,000 + $20,000 + $20,000 = $100,000  YOU DID IT!

Again, this is only an example. As I mentioned above, there are so many more ways to make extra income. But it just proves how essential your actions are if you want to reach a specific number. I firmly believe that

"What you make next year is no accident – it is intentional."

Best of luck in 2018 – I'll be cheering you on!

In This Episode You Will Learn:

  • The exact plan that Lori and I use to map out our yearly income
  • How to pick out your number and work backward to hit your goal
  • How you're already asking for the income you're getting without asking
  • About detailed hypothetical scenarios that can lead you to $100,000 or $1 million
  • And much more…

82: Mastering The Law of Abundance with Harriette Hale18 Dec 201700:42:16

Whatever your thoughts are on abundance – true or not – you're going to hear first-hand how my guest, business and mindset coach and entrepreneur, Harriette Hale, tapped into it in a big way. With her first business at the age of 19 (yes, 19!), Harriette quickly climbed her way to success with businesses in music (her passion), dance and spirituality. This success came to a screeching halt, however, when her business partners at the time, planned, plotted and succeeded in taking her entire client list and setting up a competing business on their own. It was a pivotal moment that left Harriette both financially and spiritually broke.

Family and friends had no doubt she would bounce back, but she had worked too hard to go back to a 9-5 job and knew she was meant to use her gifts in a different way. Tune in to find out how she broke free of her conditioned mind and surrendered to the universe, subsequently inviting levels upon levels of massive success into her life.

--

Question Highlights:

  • Who or what gave you this inner knowing that you shouldn't just get a 9-5 job and forge ahead anyway?
  • What did you learn about the Law of Attraction that so radically changed your life?
  • What's the key to having an abundant mindset and why do you feel we have the right and responsibility to have one?

81: These FIVE Things are BLOCKING Your BUSINESS14 Dec 201700:11:29

Have you hit a plateau with your business and can't seem to figure out why? Give my following list of five a read (and listen) and I bet you'll likely find an area to improve upon.

  1. Trying to be a one-man show. I get it, you take pride in being able to do it all on your own, but my advice? Get help sooner than later. Save your time (and sometimes money) by getting someone else to do it faster and better. Hint: This is, in my opinion, the No. 1 reason people hit a plateau.

  1. Not upgrading your tribe. Seek out people (even if you're intimidated by them) who are already successful and doing what you want to do. This was a game-changer for Lori and me.

"Upgrading your tribe is the world's greatest shortcut to get from where you are now to where you want to go with your goals."

  1. Not upgrading your personal software. It's all about working on your own mindset! Keep learning new things.

"If you're not growing, you're shrinking."

  1. Losing your passion. Keep in mind that love is a verb, but it doesn't just apply to relationships, it applies to your business too. Don't let the daily (often boring) tasks bring you down. Make sure to take a break every now and then from working "in" your business and instead work "on" it. Think mastermind groups or something similar that gets you out of the day-to-day briefly, but also keeps that business passion spark alive.

"Money is in the monotony."

  1. Paying attention to too many shiny objects. Keep your eye on the prize even when other shiny prizes are being flashed at you. Every time you turn your attention away from your path, you're putting your business on hold. Stay the course, but find that sweet spot of educating yourself on new trends but not letting it take over everything else. Keep your focus on your original goals.

There you have them! Did any sound familiar? Once you're aware of any blocks that apply to you, you can be on guard so you don't fall into their traps. And that, of course, means more success – faster!

In This Episode You Will Learn:

  • What five things are blocking your business
  • Why you shouldn't try to do everything on your own
  • About the importance of hanging out with already successful people
  • And much more…

"It's not just about making dollars; it's about making a difference."

"If knowledge is power; learning is your superpower."

"It's not how smart you are; it's how are you smart."

"Success is an inside-out process."

"Identify as a thermostat not a thermometer."

"Reasons reap results."

"Your mind is always eavesdropping on your self-talk."

"Learn to earn and return."

"People are either an example or a warning."

79: How To Create an Abundant Holiday07 Dec 201700:07:07

With the holidays and the season of giving upon us, I felt it was only fitting to talk about abundance and how abundance can affect us throughout them. For a good portion of people, the holidays can be super stressful – especially when there's worry around paying for the gifts they want to buy. But here's the thing, when we worry we send the message of lack out into the universe and we're looking for abundance.

Just as a refresher, when you have a mindset of abundance you are attracting more and more wealth and good things in your life. And on the opposite side, when you have a lack mindset, you're pushing away all of those abundant things. So when there is stress around how you will pay for gifts, travel, family gatherings etc., you are actually inviting more struggle into your life. And we don't want that! So this year I challenge you to reframe all of this

"Break free from the feeling of lack and get back into the good feelings that the holidays are meant for."

Now I get it, if you're comfortable with the traditional gift-giving – keep doing it! But if you observe your feelings and thoughts around this time of year and you come up with feelings of lack, then speak up! Maybe it's time to switch your definition of giving.

For example, my family decided a few years back to forego traditional gifts (we had a tendency to go overboard) and instead rent a cabin, give our time and enjoy the experience of it.

"It's more about the experience than the gifts."

Just think…what could you give that would create the same feelings of receiving a gift that isn't something you can buy? Think non-traditional gift ideas could such as the gift of your time, energy, skillset or creativity – the list is endless. Regardless of what you choose, let's:

"Practice abundance, not stress, for the holidays."

In This Episode You Will Learn:

  • What the differences are between an abundance and lack mindset
  • How Chris switched up his family's holiday traditions
  • Alternative ways you can give to your family and friends

77: This GRATITUDE Practice Can Make You RICH30 Nov 201700:13:57

I'm often asked what my non-negotiables are when it comes to my success. Today I'll share one of the most important and that is my gratitude practice. I am certain that the four steps of my gratitude practice have helped me make more money and I'm certain it can help you, too.

"Gratitude. It doesn't just change your life; it continues to keep you on the right track."

Here Are the Four Parts of My Gratitude Practice:

  • Name Your Alarms with Something Positive. These words don't have to be anything complex or life-changing, but when you're tired or half-awake, you need it to train your brain to go somewhere positive. It shapes your mindset and shapes your day. Here are a couple of my alarm names:
  • 4:15 a.m. God has blessed us so we can help others
  • 7 a.m. Congratulations! Today is one of the best days of your life.
  • 9 a.m. Everything is happening even better and even faster than expected.

  • Wake Up and Say a Positive Mantra. Again this can be simple, but the important part is that you MUST say it like you mean it. Here's what Lori and I repeat every morning: "I'm happier, healthier, wealthier and more fit than I was yesterday." You are programming into your body and into your expectations for the day.

  • Simple Gratitude Prayer. I'm not joking… keep it super simple, almost juvenile and short (only about 60-90 seconds). Take into account all the things you DO have. List them…Thank you for my house. Thank you for my success. Thank you for keeping my loved ones healthy and safe. You get the idea… Just stay away from saying "want." This wakes you up in lack and we're shooting for abundance!

  • Meditation. The time on this one varies, but we shoot for 10-20 minutes. Please though, if you've only got two minutes to meditate – do it! This is your opportunity to close your eyes, get silent and call in exactly what you want for that day.

All of the above tools ensure that you're able to control your day. Even when those bumps happen, you can easily reframe it because you started your day out in gratitude. So I challenge you, starting today… OWN the results of your day, week, month and year.

"Choose what is going to unfold for you instead of letting things unfold and going with the flow."

Try the above steps for a week and keep an open mind. Start with just one of the practices if you feel overwhelmed. I know if you can add even just a little more gratitude into your life that it will help you significantly increase your productivity, income, blessings and abundance.

Let me know how it goes (or doesn't go) – I want to hear either way!

In This Episode You Will Learn:

  • Chris's four steps in his daily gratitude practice
  • Why you should start your gratitude practice right when you wake up
  • The importance of choosing what your day is going to look like

75: SUCCESS Is Just Beyond THIS POINT...23 Nov 201700:08:08

Lori and I recently visited Costa Rica and met a woman who was working on her Pilates certification. Part of the certification process is teaching classes and this woman shares that she was so nervous that she thought she was going to puke.

Have you ever felt that nervous? I know I have, and the most recent example was the very first episode of this podcast. But just like that Pilates instructor, I pushed past that moment to get the reward.

"The payoff is past the puke."

Yes, it's an awful feeling, but it's just your body and mind's way of saying, "Whoa, slow down – this is scary." When you can move through that feeling you're most often rewarded. But that reward doesn't come as quickly if you stop short before it can happen.

"The point where you feel like you might get ill is the great separator between those who do and those who do not."

You are often times ONE step away from the ultimate payoff – but you must make the choice to keep moving.

"It's one little step, but it's a HUGE barrier that stops people."

Don't let the fear – or puke– stop you. Make your dream a reality and keep that momentum going.

Do you have any "I got so nervous I puked (or almost puked) stories? Be sure to share them with me on IG!

In This Episode You Will Learn:

  • The moment when Chris was so nervous he felt like he could puke
  • Why the payoff is past the puke
  • The benefits of pushing past the fear (or puke)

73: SUCCESS HACK: Always Buy The Upgrade16 Nov 201700:09:52

Lori and I have been to our fair share of self- and business-development events, and when we do, there's one thing we always do… We always buy the upgrade! Upgrading to VIP (or whatever the upgrade is called) has helped so much when it comes to expanding our tribe and network.

"Maximize your return on events."

Before I go further, if you're attending an event by the skin of your teeth and you absolutely cannot afford to upgrade – don't sweat it. I applaud you for hustling and just getting to the event! And trust me, there are plenty of radically amazing people in general admission as well. BUT, if you do have the extra dollars, and you're trying to determine whether or not to part with that money, my advice – do it!

"Invest in proximity."

When you choose the upgrade you're choosing an investment of proximity to the people who are already crushing it. You're setting yourself on a path that may lead you to the answers you're looking for. 72: How GIVING AWAY 25% of Their Income Made Them MORE MONEY with Steve Valentine13 Nov 201700:57:49

Thanks to today's guest, real estate entrepreneur, Steve Valentine, your opinion of realtors is about to be challenged. It was never Steve's intent to get into real estate, however after a brief time in the automotive industry he was called to join his family's real estate business as a third generation real estate entrepreneur. "Every failure we have no matter if it's big or small, as long as we learn from it it's one more step up the ladder to something successful."

"If you can look at your failures as rungs on a ladder, the more failure, the higher you're going."

"When you're generous and your kids see it and catch it, you know you've arrived."

"If I can hire efficient people and make my business super profitable, I can write checks."

"I just want to write the checks."

"If I give this, I can make it again tomorrow."

"If we start with generosity vs. income, it changes your life and makes the world a better place."

--

I've always said I was proud to be a third-generation Realtor. Although, looking back, I finally realize I am not a third-generation Realtor, but a third-generation Real Estate Entrepreneur. My grandmother, Essie Spencer, held her real estate license for 50 years. She practiced until the age of 80. My late father, Dan, practiced in real estate for over 40 years working together as a team with my mother, Debbie (who still practices). This is where my real estate venture began.

After short stint in the automotive industry, I gave real estate a shot.  For the first two years of
my career, I sat at my dad's desk listening to his calls, and sitting in on meetings, and learning how to conduct business. I don't remember thinking I wanted this type of mentorship at the time, but now I know how valuable it was.  I learned customer service and how to conduct business. After my internship, I worked for my parents nearly 10 years. My wife, Wende, and I decided it was time for us to take what we had learned and forge ahead out from under the umbrella of my parents.

The real estate market crash of 2006 left us financially and emotionally devastated. In 2008, Wende and I founded Valentine Group. Through trial and error, and failing forward multiple times, we learned to become real estate entrepreneurs with a new way of doing business for a new generation of homeowners also recovering from the fallout from 2006. Since 2008, our group has served over 2500 families and continue to serve more than 200 families each year. We provide solid real estate solutions, designed for each individual client, each and every day.

One of the greatest things Wende and I have to offer, though Valentine Group's diversification, is experience. When my father passed, one thing he said resonates in my head, "…there are very few people who will see the multiple markets we've seen in during your short 17 years in the business. We've witnessed the rapid rise in the real estate market in 2003 and 2004, and the astronomical prices and lotteries to purchase homes in 2005 and 2006. Then, the sudden crash in 2007." How true. During this same crash, Wende and I made our way through our own foreclosure. This experience allowed us to truly and honestly help others though theirs. A sense of "normalcy" in the market began to return, for us, in 2010 and on into 2011 as we worked through decreasing inventory foreclosures and an increase in clients asking how to not only buy a primary residence, but how to purchase investment properties as well. By being as brave as our clients through the re-birth of the real estate market, we now, in 2016, have been blessed as our business grew from three to more than 11 employees. Eleven individuals in a strategic group, working together to serve our diverse clientele as we specialize in various real estate transactions. While we still proudly represent our clients in traditional buying and selling of homes for families, we are also now working with wholesalers and investors in building wealth through a variety of wealth building tools.

I'd leave it at that…. But the rest follows: This includes, but is not limited to, repurposing (or what some of you might know as "flipping") homes, finding rental properties, using private funds to purchase long-term holdings which increases wealth for our investors. At the end of the day Valentine Group strives to provide multiple solutions for our clients from real estate advice, to wealth building strategies, to property management. Most Realtors measure their impact by the number of homes they sold, or the dollar volume homes sold, or he amount of commissions earned. While we can't deny the significance of those stats, we feel it is more important to impact our clients lives by providing practical knowledge. We make sure we are there when they need advice or encouragement whether it's buying, selling, or renovation suggestions.

71: SUCCESS HACK! Connect More People09 Nov 201700:07:06

Over the last couple years, taking a cue from my friend and mentor, Lewis Howes, I've made it my own personal mission to connect as many people as possible. Once you see that it's a gift to connect two people who need each other – it's a no brainer.

So how do you go about connecting people? First off, when you meet new people or even when you're talking to an old friend, get present and LISTEN! I know it sounds simple, but by really tuning in and learning what their goals are or what they're passionate about, you're able to connect them with others who have an expertise in an area they need help with or maybe they know someone who does.

I've started making mental notes of everyone I talk to and lately, I'm able to connect them to someone else who can help them immediately. And it feels amazing! Not only do I get to have a hand in the magic, but often times the favor is returned down the road.

"The more people you can help with their dreams, the more they'll help with yours."

Of course this isn't the driving reason to do this, but it is incredible what happens when you find the right people, your tribe, to accelerate your journey or find shortcuts. And we all know how hard it can be to find the "right" people.

With 2018 just around the corner, I challenge you to make an intention to ask what people are up to and connect more people. Make it your new addiction to become an ultimate connector. Are you in?

In This Episode You Will Learn:

  • Why it's so important to find your people or your tribe
  • How connecting more people can lead to more success for you
  • How to be a better listener

70: The PERFECT DAY Formula for Entrepreneurs with Craig Ballantyne06 Nov 201700:52:22

After having a conversation with my guest, Craig Ballantyne, it's hard to believe that he once struggled with crippling anxiety despite living "the life." It's what he likes to call the "paradox of freedom." He had the freedom, but was still trapped when it came to having panic attacks. Sometimes his attacks came out of nowhere and other times they were predictable (drinking excessive amounts of caffeine or alcohol). He knew it was time to do something about them, however, when he had an anxiety attack for nearly six weeks straight.

Having since gotten a handle around his anxiety, Craig now enjoys sharing his story to help others work through theirs. And because we talk a lot about gratitude in this podcast, I love that one of his biggest tips is practicing gratitude and helping others daily.

Craig's transparency in this interview is invaluable and I hope that if you or someone you know suffer from anxiety that you discover some helpful tools to help you control them moving forward.

Question Highlights:

  • What was your upbringing like and how did it lead to your success and the epic knowledge you have today?

  • What is The Perfect Day Formula?
  • Do you find that you have clients who sacrifice happiness at home for a thriving business?
  • What would be better to start with – your book or The Perfect Day Kit?
  • What role has generosity played in your success?
  • What is one of your all-time favorite moments of giving?
  • And more…

In This Episode You Will Learn:

Craig's Thoughts…

"Everything is a learnable skill."

"At the root of anxiety is self-doubt."

"Admitting a weakness is a strength."

"It wasn't the law of attraction; it was the law of action attraction."

"You can attract great opportunity into life when you do the work."

"Control what you can. Cope with what you can't. Concentrate on what counts."

"When your actions are misaligned with your goals it causes internal stress in us."

"If you want to do great things, you have to do fewer things."

69: The REAL Gift of Being Rich02 Nov 201700:08:30

What's the real reason you want wealth? The power, the "things" or the social standing? While all those things are great here's my thoughts on being wealthy just to be wealthy.

"Don't get rich just to get rich because you won't feel any different than you do today."

Get rich for the gift of who you become during the process to get there. Money isn't going to make a lick of difference unless you change who you are. Now don't get me wrong – I'm sure you're an amazing individual already – but we're looking for the upleveled version of you.

"The wealthy you should be an enhanced version of what you are today."

You have to grow new strengths, be more open, expand your network and people and become more giving. After all, the more you give, the more you get, right?

"In order to really grow wealthy, you need to really grow."

Yes, that means you need to be more consistent and more disciplined. But it also means – and here's the kicker – you need to be more caring!

"Becoming wealthy is really a side effect of solving more peoples' needs than you are today."

How will your money make someone's life better? Most of the successful people I know and hang around don't talk about their wealth or all the things they have. Instead they talk about the impact they're making and who they want to help next. It's not about what you get back.

Becoming the enhanced version of yourself is THE ultimate gift because it's about the person you get to be as you make your way through this life. The money and possessions are just the icing on the cake.

In This Episode You Will Learn:

  • What the ultimate gift of being wealthy is
  • Why becoming wealthy has the potential to create a more enhanced version of yourself
  • Why growth is required to increase your wealth

68: Is The PURSUIT of Money Just a MASK of MASCULINITY with Lewis Howes30 Oct 201700:43:51

I was fortunate enough to receive an advance copy of my friend and mentor, Lewis Howe's book, Mask of Masculinity. I devoured the book in just a couple of days and love how it brought me just as many moments of enlightenment and breakthroughs as it did resistance. And this is why I was so honored to have an in-person interview with Lewis the other day to talk about it.

If you're a man who wants to understand the masks he wears or a woman who wants to obtain the "keys to the kingdom" and the tools to connect with the men in her life, I definitely recommend buying the book (or pre-ordering – it releases Oct. 31) and for sure listening to this episode as he explains more about his journey with this book and also gives an in-depth into his sincere and giving nature.

--

Question Highlights:

  • Why did you write Mask of Masculinity and why right now?
  • Was the book a healing process for you as well as other men?
  • Do women wear these masks as well?
  • Which of the 9 different masks did you tend to wear the most?
  • When did wearing one of these masks really cost you something?
  • How have these masks shown up in your business?
  • What if someone likes their masks?
  • How do we know if we have a healthy mindset?
  • Do you ever find yourself purposely trying to avoid masks?
  • What is one of your all-time favorite moments of giving?
  • And more…

In This Episode You Will Learn:

  • Why Lewis wrote Mask of Masculinity
  • How his new book helps men let go of their ego and heal
  • How men are conditioned to react with anger and frustration
  • What ways men use masks to fit in or to ensure they're worthy of acceptance
  • How we can break out of our default masks by getting to the root cause of them
  • The importance of being aware of things that trigger your masks
  • When money feels fulfilling or unfulfilling
  • Why it's necessary to have regular conversations about money
  • The reason why Lewis still drives a 1991 Cadillac he bought for $4,000
  • Why having a holistic lifestyle is a non-negotiable for Lewis
  • What the rewards and prices of wearing masks are
  • And so much more…

Lewis's Thoughts…

"If we want to be ultimate human beings, we should be committed to our vision, not our egos, which hurt us."

"Reacting is never as good as responding from a place of grace."

"How can I be driven to achieve what I want, but make sure I'm living in harmony as well?"

"Be who you want to be and embrace it, but have peace in your heart."

"Ultimate fulfillment is when we continue to grow and contribute to others."

"If self-worth is based on a mask, it's temporary."

"Even if you can't give financially, you can still give your heart and energy to people and it will feel amazing."

"Don't stop being who you are. Step into who you fully are by embracing a holistic lifestyle."

"The more you achieve and succeed, the more of an example you can set for others."

Before LEWIS HOWES became a media sensation for empowering people and sharing 'Greatness' across the globe, he had his share of obstacles to overcome. From having a learning disability, which led to being alone and bullied in school, to being sexually abused as a child, to being injured and broke on his sister's couch, Lewis's story is the perfect example of how anybody can overcome the obstacles in their life and achieve greatness. Fast forward a few short years, and Lewis is a New York Times Bestselling author of the hit book, The School of Greatness and releases his new book, Mask of Masculinity on Oct. 31. He is a lifestyle entrepreneur, high performance business coach and keynote speaker. A former professional football player and two-sport All-American, he is a current USA Men's National Handball Team athlete. He hosts a top 100 podcast in the world, The School of Greatness, which has over 40 million downloads since it launched in 2013. 67: The Fastest Way Out of Financial Struggle26 Oct 201700:08:51

Do you know someone (or are you that someone) who struggles with growing their income? Today we're going to crack the code of this financial struggle wide open and talk about ways to eliminate it!

Most often people think that it's because the person is lazy, scared, or afraid to try new things. Or perhaps that they lack drive or the resources. I believe that it's none of the above. In my opinion, I believe it's because these people aren't regularly expanding their minds. They become stuck because they're not shifting paradigms and they're not seeking different perspectives.

"You cannot expect to have new levels of success with old levels of growth."

You will never reach new heights in your business if you are still applying old ideas and methods.

"When you exercise your mind, everything else expands right along with it."

So how do you exercise your mind anyway? I say, expand, expand, expand!

  • Expand your circle of influence (you will likely transcend some in your current circle)
  • Expand your ability to jump over hurdles that get in your way
  • Expand your motivation and drive
  • Expand your business acumen

Some of the best ways to do the above is through books, podcasts, coaches and masterminds. If you really want to bust out of that financial rut, all of the above apply. I know it's a lot, but if nothing changes, nothing changes.

"You need new ideas to reach new levels of growth."

Read new books that offer opposing views. Attend high-level events. Yes, it will be scary as hell, but you will leave a totally different, more expanded person (trust me!). And if you commit to growing your mind and your standards – you will grow your income as well.

In This Episode You Will Learn:

  • Why people remain stuck in financial struggle
  • What isn't holding people back
  • Ways to expand your mind and grow financial success

66: From Trailer Park to Tech Mogul - The Inventor of Face Filters Jeremy Greene23 Oct 201700:44:21

By all accounts, today's guest and CEO of PingTank, Jeremy Greene, shouldn't be running one of the most successful tech companies around. As a child who grew up poor, spent years in the foster care system and barely graduated high school, he was certainly not groomed to be an entrepreneur, but there was one difference… he had an innate sense to survive and hustle to get where he's at today.

From a start in the music business to the face filters you see today in social media, Jeremy's 8-Mile-esque story is mind-blowing. If you're looking for an inside scoop on pitching your ideas and turning them into realities, Jeremy's no-nonsense talk will set you straight about what works – and what doesn't.

--

Question Highlights:

  • Tell us how you got started in the music industry
  • Why did you drop your career in music?
  • Where did you get the posture to present yourself to billionaires?
  • When you were figuring out how to be an entrepreneur, were there setbacks?
  • What's your best trait as an entrepreneur?
  • How do you get people to say yes?
  • Where did you get your huge financial thermostat from?
  • Do you feel that you're able to make a bigger impact because of your wealth?
  • Where do you like to make an impact with your money?
  • And more…

In This Episode You Will Learn:

  • How Jeremy went from trailer park to tech mogul
  • How Jeremy got his start in the music business
  • Why Jeremy shifted his focus from music to technology
  • Why you must fail in order to succeed
  • The importance of instilling a fear of missing out mentality when pitching your product
  • What Jeremy's new app Mojiit is all about
  • How one can make in impact without money
  • Why hustling is so important to get the money to build a bigger platform
  • Tips on how to part ways from people you've outgrown
  • And so much more…

Jeremy's Thoughts…

"I really understand that marketing plays a big aspect in everything you do in life."

"If you could create and sell people on a product and you can build a good product, you could convince anyone to be a part of it."

"Building a good company starts with building an amazing product first, marketing it right and giving people the fear of missing out."

"You don't learn anything until you have failures behind you."

"If you want to disrupt anything, it starts with just being OK with the comfortability of you first. You can't sell something to other people if you don't believe it yourself."

"Money doesn't buy you happiness, but it makes you comfortable."

"Money doesn't define who you are and what you become. Where you grow up does not define where you'll be one day. It's OK to outgrow people, places and things."

"You don't need money to be successful. You have everything that's built within you to be successful."

"If you have money in the bank and you're not helping people, you're an a**hole."

"Do what you love."

65: How to Create Explosive Growth through Masterminding!19 Oct 201700:19:20

Today we're doing a deep-dive on the topic of masterminds – why they work, what you might not know, how you can create or become a part of one yourself, and so much more.

First off, let's define what a mastermind is. A mastermind is essentially a group of people all working together to mastermind on each other's business (or another area).

"The idea is to go into a mastermind with massive, audacious goals and come out on the other end smashing those goals."

Lori and I have personally invested and been involved in two business masterminds – one we didn't complete, however we still learned so much from it. Our most recent has been a raging success exploding our income with an additional seven figures beyond our existing goal.

So how was this success possible? Below are some key areas that will help ensure a healthy ROI on your investment:

  • Family mentality: Everyone is treated as family and everyone is open to helping each other when they can facilitate – think any aspect of business that you don't know how to do
  • Group diversity: It's necessary to have a diverse group of people and skills to ensure different perspectives
  • Size is key: Not too small, not too big – 20-25 people is ideal
  • Duration: A year commitment allows any breakthroughs to be implemented and completed
  • Enough touchpoints to ensure accountability (quarterly, monthly and weekly)
  • At the same point financially heading toward the same (or similar) financial goal

"When you get all the layers right, your significant investment turns into multiple returns."

Masterminds are a magical formula that combines ideas, support, accountability and connections that when utilized correctly can help you reach your goals. Don't try to do everything alone when you could literally have 20 or more people making life easier for you. Instead mastermind and catapult your business to new heights.

In This Episode You Will Learn:

  • What a mastermind is
  • Why masterminds are crucial if you're trying to smash your goals
  • How Chris and Lori have received ROI with their masterminds
  • Tips to ensure a successful mastermind
  • How you can be a part of the 2018 For the Love of Money Mastermind

So, why do so many businesses fail, or more to the point, why do so many not even get off the ground? It may surprise you to know that often it's not because it's a bad business. It's not because it's a bad idea or product, and it's not because the person isn't a good "business person."

"The reason 95% of all businesses fail is because everyone is allowed to call themselves an entrepreneur without actually acting like an entrepreneur."

So many people seem to think that being an entrepreneur is this fun, romantic and energizing endeavor – like a magical entrepreneurial movie. But it's actually quite the opposite. It's gritty, dirty, scary and downright uncomfortable at times. Entrepreneurship consumes your life.

"You don't build a business in your spare time, you build your business all the time."

If you're not willing to do that, your business and your entrepreneurial career isn't likely to go too far. It's all about going that extra mile. You ask for help. You face rejection over and over. You have to learn what you don't already know to reach your goals.

True entrepreneurs do all the above (and more). And when they do, their business success follows.

In This Episode You Will Learn:

  • Why so many businesses don't even get off the ground
  • Why even good businesses fail
  • About the traits necessary to be an entrepreneur

62: The Secret to MORE PROFITABILITY with Thor Conklin09 Oct 201700:44:24

I think you're all really going to love my conversation with founder of Peak Performance Group and profitability expert, Thor Conklin. He first caught wind of entrepreneurship while caddying for successful businesspeople at the age of 13. Not only did he help them navigate through challenging golf courses, he also asked questions, listened and learned tips on navigating his own businesses down the road. Of course he didn't start any at that age, but he credits many foundational elements to that time in his life.

Today, Thor does his best to pay it forward by being the "caddie" for others in their businesses by helping them maneuver around problem areas or obstacles that can stray one off their path to profitability. He challenges his clients (and others) to use accountability as a tool to reach new levels of success (hint: you don't have to do it alone!).

I love how Thor operates both in his businesses and his life – giving both his time and money to ensure others are moving forward to create maximum results (see special offer below). Be sure to listen to the full episode as he drops some amazing nuggets of knowledge that can help you get out of your own way and take action.

Question Highlights:

  • Being a caddie, and being around business people, what's the lesson that stands out the most to you?

  • What's typically the biggest waste you see when you dig into someone's profitability?
  • Do you have any tips to help people stop their limiting mindsets?
  • What are your thoughts on profit?
  • Have you seen a correlation between profit and impact?
  • What role has generosity played in your life?

  • Why it's so important to find someone that you pay to hold you accountable
  • Tips to help stop limiting beliefs
  • Thor's views on profit
  • That there is no honor in trying to do things alone
  • And so much more…

Chris's Thoughts…

"If you can't turn those sales into profits and those profits into cash, then why are we doing what we're doing?"

"Most people think that they're business owners, but their business owns them."

"People know what to do. They just can't figure out how to get it done."

"Knowledge is not power. Correct knowledge applied properly is power."

"We don't want to admit that the problem might be us."

"You need to make money so you can give it away."

"I want to know that I had a hand in the psychology, the process and the actions of an individual."

"Wealth is a byproduct of a value provided to the marketplace."

61: If You Just Had FAITH - A True Story05 Oct 201700:09:18

Today I want to talk about having faith and how it ties to abundance. Faith is no small thing. It truly has the power to make or break different situations in your life. If you believe it will happen, it will happen.

You don't have to know the how or the where… you just have to know. It's acting on something even when you're scared because you know abundance is out there.

My trainer, Abe, recently had a faith-testing situation. He hadn't had a vacation in five years and desperately wanted to unplug with a month-long trip in Bali. But of course there was fear around it. Obviously a vacation like that is a lot of money, but on top of that, he wouldn't be getting paid for that entire month while he was away. Long story short, Abe booked the vacation on faith.

"I had faith that the finances would work out."

And they did! Abe's finances appeared seemingly out of the blue. Here's how abundance showed up for him… I hired him to train me 3-4 sessions a week. Plus, he received a surprise bonus and had the busiest month of his career the month before he left. Long story short? Abe came back from his trip fully rested and more abundant than ever.

Now, I've oversimplified the ease at which this all happened, because after all, faith is not intuitive to our brains. Our brains send out the emergency flares any time fear starts creeping in to keep us safe. But this is the exact spot where we need to interrupt those thoughts and do the opposite – no matter how uncomfortable it makes us.

"Just because it doesn't feel intuitive doesn't mean it doesn't work."

Let blind faith lead you. Don't let fearful thoughts get in the way. Abundance only happens when you truly feel the faith at your core.

In This Episode You Will Learn:

  • How one man acted on faith and attracted abundance
  • Why you don't have to know the how or where in all situations
  • Why it's so important to have faith to attract abundance

59: The "Up-Leveling" Trap and How to AVOID IT28 Sep 201700:06:05

My Two Cents – Ep. 59 – The "Up-Leveling Trap" and How to Avoid It

We're often told that if we want to get further and have more success we must start surrounding ourselves with those who are doing what we want to do or are doing bigger things. This is a good thing, however, when we continually spend time with these types of people we start falling into the "up-leveling trap," which is comparison.

We start feeling like we're not doing enough because we're not where they are. But here's the thing…mentors are supposed to be ahead of you! Don't compare your journey to theirs. Be conscious of your own journey and love where you're at.

"You have to pause and look back at how far you've come instead of looking at how far you have left to go."

Be grateful that someone else has done it first and is willing to share how to get you there. Be grateful they've given you a "roadmap."

"Be grateful for who you are and what you have right now and what you're doing, but be equally excited about where you're going."

When you can find this balance between the two, you know you're on a healthy journey to success and abundance.

The next time you find yourself about to fall into the up-leveling trap, do me (and yourself) a favor and make a conscious effort to stop comparison in its tracks. Catch your thoughts and meditate for five minutes in a quiet place. Think about and picture how far you've come in the last week, month, year and beyond. I promise it will shift your perspective and help ground you where you're supposed to be.

It's definitely normal for these thoughts to come up, but it is not OK to let them stop you, to wallow in them or let them be an excuse. Be grateful that others have paved the way for you and also allowed you to create your own unique path to success. And be assured that if you stay ambitiously on this path success and abundance will follow.

In This Episode You Will Learn:

  • What the "up-leveling trap" is and how to avoid it
  • Why the gap between you and your mentors should be view as a roadmap
  • Why it's important to have gratitude for your journey

58: This Disabled Veteran Worth Millions is Paying it Forward with Joey Fazio25 Sep 201701:01:56

I am so glad that today's guest and wildly successful entrepreneur, Joey Fazio, and I were recently introduced by a mutual friend. Growing up in a military family, his life was a bit atypical as his father was gone often (at age 12 his dad was deployed and didn't come home for three years). Joey left his parents' home at the age of 17, joined college a little after only to eventually drop out at age 20 and join the military (Air Force) himself.

Always having an innate drive for success and dreams of bigger things, he left his secure military job to pursue the unknown. Unfortunately, his wife at the time (who had two children with) did not share his passion, and they divorced. So, at the age of 26, Joey started over with a negative net worth, but knew he would become a multi-millionaire by age 36. Spoiler alert: He's now 36 and a multi-millionaire.

You don't want to miss this episode as Joey shares his amazing, but sometimes difficult entrepreneurial journey. I truly appreciated how authentic and vulnerable our conversation was and I know that you will resonate with it as well – especially on topics of relationships, money and giving back.

--

Question Highlights:

  • What were you feeling like when you were starting over with nothing?
  • What is your advice for those who feel someone they love is holding them back?
  • What did you learn in the military that you use today?
  • Where can someone develop discipline if they haven't been in the military?
  • Of your business, which is your favorite?
  • Where does your insane entrepreneurial drive come from?
  • Would you be able to make as big a difference as you do now without money?
  • What does money mean to you?
  • How do you want your kids to grow up viewing money and opportunity?

In This Episode You Will Learn:

  • About how Joey turned a negative worth into millions
  • Advice on what to do if you have an unsupportive partner or spouse
  • Why discipline is essential to growing a successful business
  • The importance of working from the bottom up in a company
  • Why time and opportunity is more important than money
  • How Joey raises his kids to view money
  • And so much more…

Joey's Thoughts…

"Time is the most valuable resource that any of us have."

"Act now – the sooner the better."

"Couples that share goals and have the same vision have a much higher chance of succeeding than those with separate goals."

"If you don't have the partner who supports you and sees your vision – leave."

"Start at the bottom. Work every position. Be the smartest person in the room."

"If you have the opportunity to put yourself in a position of power and that truly helps people and makes a difference – do it."

"You can't help anyone from the bottom."

"If you piss off 10 people to help a million – do it."

"It's not about the money, it's about the opportunity."

"If you're going to help, go all in."

57: Abundance HACK! How To Get GOOD At SALES21 Sep 201700:12:03

Take a poll on how people feel about sales and my guess is that you'll see a large portion of people who are uncomfortable with it or just plain don't like it. If sounds like you, I encourage you to stay put and hear my take on it.

First off, sales intrigues me. I'm kind of a nerd that way, but I like it! And maybe it's because I do approach it from a more positive perspective.

"You're always selling someone on an idea that you believe in."

Whether it's a point of view or a product, I think most can agree with that statement, but link it to money and that's when people start to get uncomfortable. And it's likely because they had bad experiences that helped support that feeling. So my goal with this episode is to change those opinions and feelings around selling and help you get comfortable with it.

Let's take the words "sales" and "money" out of the equation. Now you can focus on the people, and offer them a valuable solution for their problem.

"You're currently placing too much value on money and not enough value on your customers' needs."

It's all about an equal energy/value exchange. As Lisa Nichols puts it,

"Sales is just a dignified conversation enrolling two people into a new possibility to enhance their lives."

Sales doesn't have to be sleazy and it doesn't mean that anyone is getting the wool pulled over their eyes. Sales is taking an interest in the actual people – not their money (even though that's an amazing side effect).

"The best sales are caring conversations."

But just like any relationship, don't be surprised if the sale or friendship isn't locked in right away. It takes time and follow-up to build a connection. Have patience and don't make the mistake of stopping that conversation because you think they're going to say no.

"Don't create a false no in your head just because the person who you're selling to isn't ready to say yes."

A person saying "not yet" is not a NO. Don't get tripped up by doubts and don't stop out of fear or being judged. The world needs your unique solutions!

"Not selling to protect your ego is being selfish – not caring."

If you're aligned in integrity and you whole-heartedly believe in your solution or product, it will eventually happen and abundance will appear. It is your moral obligation to share your solutions with others. Because if you're not, who else will they turn to?

In This Episode You Will Learn:

  • Why people are so uncomfortable about sales
  • How sales is essentially helping to solve peoples' problems
  • Why it's so important to take an interest in those you're trying to sell to

55: MYTH BUSTING! Is "Balance" A Real Thing14 Sep 201700:09:37

Ah, balance – it's something you hear a lot of about. So is it real or is it a fairy tale? If the mere mention of balance has you feeling conflicted, you're not alone. Do we let flow just happen or do we take the bull by the horns and make it happen?

As an entrepreneur, you have people like Tim Ferriss who promote a four-hour workweek while spending your time on remote islands or anywhere else in the world you want to work. And then you have the die-hard, Gary Vaynerchuk's, who are all about the hustle and working harder and harder.

Honestly, I agree with both sides of that coin because either way and at some point, you're going to feel guilty. It sets in when you're working hard and take a break or not working as hard. Or it happens when you've got your sleeves rolled up, working hard and people tell you you've gotten out of touch and they never see you. That's why I believe that daily or weekly balance is a myth – or at the very least, it's misleading.

"Balance is something that's always changing and that's the key. You need to honor it and change with it."

Lori and I like to talk about in terms of "seasons." I cannot stress the importance enough of honoring the season you're in. Don't let someone else dictate what you should be doing, what do you feel like doing?

"The key is to trade 'should' with 'I feel like.'"

Pay attention to what you're feeling like. Are you amped and ready to power through for an extended period of time, or do you feel like going to the beach and eating pizza? Whichever season it is, know that eventually you're going to want a change. If you're working hard and in a productive mode, you're eventually going to want a period of rest, travel or play. On the flip side, those beach days will soon lead to boredom and restlessness and you'll likely crave a productive season.

While I'm no expert, my typical "doing" season is about 120 days max and my season of "rest" follows for about 30-45 days. Again, these are just MY seasons – yours may be very different as there's no magic formula. Balance is purely subjective – it all boils down to how YOU feel.

So in an effort to help you find balance between your seasons, I challenge you to do two things:

  1. Listen to and honor your season.
  2. Ignore all social media and other influencers (yes, even me) who are in a different season than you. Trust me. It will only make you feel guilty,

Once you figure out this balance, I know you'll feel better. And when we feel better, we can do even more amazing things in life and business.

In This Episode You Will Learn:

  • If balance is real or just a fairy tale
  • How balance can be compared to the different seasons
  • The difference between a productive and rest season

54: Changing The World, One Sex Toy at a Time with Polly Rodriguez11 Sep 201700:45:01

Now that I've got your attention, I'd like for you to meet Polly Rodriguez, Founder and CEO of Unbound, a sexual wellness company. Raised in the Midwest, this was not the path she saw herself taking early on in life, however after a cancer diagnosis in college and consequently a premature onset of menopause at the age of 21, she was compelled to dig when she found a lack of information in regard to it.

What started as a small quest to more comfortably purchase sexual wellness products, Unbound has now grown into a wildly successful business (despite multiple barriers and misconceptions to break down) that empowers countless women to explore their sexuality. Don't miss this inspiring story that proves that anything is possible!

--

Question Highlights:

• What thoughts went through your head when you were diagnosed with cancer?

• What is Unbound?

• Where did you get the idea for it and how did it get started?

• What was one of your biggest business challenges?

• Was there any hesitation about starting a company in the sexual wellness field? Were you worried what your parents would think?

• What does the landscape look like for women entrepreneurs?

• What has to happen in order for it to be easier for women to have a successful start-up?

• What initially drove you to give a portion of your business profits away? In This Episode You Will Learn:

• How Polly came up with her business, Unbound

• About the challenges of running a sexual wellness company

• How Polly overcame the stigmas and misconceptions associated with sexual wellness products

• Why giving away a portion of Unbound's profits boosts team morale

• Why getting cancer is a huge part of Polly's success

• Why it's so important to have a career that's more than just a job, that it has a purpose

• And so much more…

Polly's Thoughts…

"Everything's a good experience if you have the right attitude."

"If you can be really vulnerable and honest about what it is about human sexuality that interests you, you can just simmer in that awkward moment and why you're interested…and only good things can come from that."

"I had to be brutally confident that it would work out."

"Women, especially millennials, want a job that has a bigger meaning or purpose."

"It's not just about selling, it's about something more meaningful."

"Getting cancer was this weird gift that gave me permission to pursue a different path."

"Something that feels selfish can actually be a charitable act in a lot of ways."

--

From the start of her career, Unbound's CEO, Polly Rodriguez, has always been committed to elevating the customer experience from acceptable to exceptional. With a background in strategy consulting, she began at the firm, Deloitte, where she innovated new, thoughtful approaches to outdated customer tactics. Translating this skillset to an entirely different industry, Polly's next role was as Director of Growth for the YCombinator startup Grouper, which focused on the most flawed experience of all: dating in New York City (and subsequently globally). Yet, there was one interaction that continued to plague her — the process of shopping for, and finding, adequate sexual wellness products for the modern woman. It wasn't until Polly was diagnosed with cancer at age 21 and went through premature menopause as a result of the radiation treatment that she faced the disparaging barriers that women encounter when seeking to explore their own sexuality. Wanting to ameliorate the process of shopping for sex products — one that is often overwhelming and uncomfortable — she took her place as the CEO of Unbound, a sexual lifestyle company that specializes in subscription boxes, one-off thematic sets, and most recently an original collection. With the goal of helping women empower themselves through sexual exploration, Polly continues to innovate new and unprecedented approaches to a rapidly evolving industry.

53: One CHOICE That Will Make You MORE MONEY07 Sep 201700:09:34

My Two Cents today is about a simple, but powerful topic, and it's about the importance of becoming more open…waaaay more open. Currently, I know a lot of people who don't understand why they're not further ahead than they are in life. The common denominator? All are working in silos – ideas, groups of people, etc. They've gotten so used to the way things are (and should be in their minds) and they aren't open to anything different. I can say this because I've been this person. I've shut down so many different opportunities all because I had already made a decision as to what it would be like. But once I became more open to entrepreneurship, networking and new point of views, the new possibilities rolled in and became new realities. And as embarrassing as it is to admit, I'm also more open to new people that I may have judged in the past. In order to make this shift though I had to get over the fear first. "Our lack of openness comes from fear or fear of change." I know that change and everything that goes along with it can be uncomfortable, but try different things on for size and see what happens. I've had so many life-shifting experiences that forced me to be more open and at the same time created amazing opportunities – in both life and business. What if that one small (or big) leap changes your life, too? So if you're wishing for more abundance in your life, whether it's money, happiness, memories or experiences, know that it comes down to this one powerful choice. And now's as good a time as any to make it. "Your break is on the other side of choosing to be open." In This Episode You Will Learn: • Why becoming more open will create more abundance in your life • How trying something "on for size" can lead to huge life changes • Why busting through fears is a part of being more open Resources: For more stories and tips on becoming unapologetically wealthy, follow me @Chriswharder on Instagram and check out fortheloveofmoney.com.

52: Teaching Teen Tycoons - A Russian-American Success Story with Olenka Cullinan04 Sep 201700:52:18

I heard today's guest, Olenka Cullinan, speak at an event recently and I just knew her story had to be shared with this audience. In a nutshell, this entrepreneurial powerhouse left Russia at age 19 with only $450 to her name (that she borrowed from her uncle) determined to seize the American dream and build anything she wanted. While growing up in an entrepreneurial household (her mom was a die-hard entrepreneur with her own company), she chose to pursue education instead in an effort to distance herself from the entrepreneurial world. Once in the U.S., she worked three jobs at one point to complete her education degree (and completed it without owing a cent!).

While Olenka loved teaching people, she soon felt the pull to do more and leapt back into the entrepreneurial world while combining it with her training in education. She may have started off with humble beginnings, but she has since used the skills she knew she had and BUILT her own success. Olenka is determined to help others discover their passions and now teaches teenagers the skills to become successful entrepreneurs in her Rising Tycoons Academy. She truly believes in helping this country's youth turn their dreams into a dream life. I already know I'll be applying the principles she taught in this episode to my children down the road. Be sure to tune in to find out how you can too.

--

Question Highlights:

  • Why didn't you choose to be an entrepreneur right away when you came to the U.S.?

  • What is the opportunity landscape here in the U.S. compared to where you came from?

  • Do you believe there is an immigrant edge that gives you a leg up in terms of grit and hard work?

  • What is Rising Tycoons?

  • Where can adults do a better job in creating kid tycoons?

  • What is a "passionista?"

  • What is holding people back the most when it comes to pursuing their passionista journey?

  • Do you see teens struggle with the same limiting beliefs that adults struggle with when it comes to earning money?

  • How do you want your daughter to view money and success when she grows up?

In This Episode You Will Learn:

  • How Russian-born Olenka became an entrepreneur living the American dream

  • How nothing is required outside of your own mindset and skills to build success

  • Why opportunity is wide open for everyone

  • Why it's so important to look at the actions that lead to results

  • How Olenka teaches teens success skills in entrepreneurship, leadership and personal development

  • Why parents must educate themselves on the world around their kids

  • Why it's imperative that we stop preparing and start doing

  • And so much more…

Olenka's Thoughts…

"If skills are learnable, then success is learnable, too."

"Comfort and execution don't live on the same block."

"You always choose. You can look at any circumstance in your life and choose what it becomes. Is it going to become an excuse or an opportunity? Because you can't have both at the same time."

"We can only change the country by changing the next generation."

"Stop preparing and start doing."

"You have to practice the unsexy routine to get anywhere, but you have to give yourself small pieces of 'candy' along the way to remind yourself why you're doing that."

"Kids have no issues with having dreams. They only have issues finding pathways for those dreams."

"The moment you stop looking at money as something to move you forward and start looking at it as something that creates love in your community, family and in the world around you, is when you'll change your perspective."

51: Connect the Dots, an EMPOWERMENT HACK31 Aug 201700:07:53

What would you say if I told you that your future is fully in your control with the help of one empowerment hack? Too good to be true? Possibly, but then you're not using the hack. ;)

Today's Two Cents talks about accepting 99.9% responsibility for your current situation. Think about it… The dots (your choices) always connect back to you. Whether it's a moment of weakness where you said yes or no to something or you missed an appointment because your car broke down…it doesn't matter. Whatever the "event" was, you made a choice and that choice is why you're where you're at now.

Look, I'm not trying to be an ass (maybe trying to offer a bit of tough love), but this is meant to be a wake-up call to empower yourself by owning your choices!

For example, when I lost my job some years ago, I could have blamed the recession, the company etc. But I didn't. I blamed myself because I chose that profession and I could have saved more money so it wasn't such a scary thing. I owned where I was and that day I made the decision to make a career change.

"Once you own that you have caused the exact spot you woke up in today, then you are able to determine the exact spot you'll be in tomorrow."

It's not always easy to own your choices – it's actually downright uncomfortable. But trust me, when I tell you that it's also where the magic happens.

"You're fully in control to make your life awesome…or to make it difficult. It's your choice."

Start owning your choices TODAY and create the life YOU want.

In This Episode You Will Learn:

  • What empowerment hack can help you create the life you want
  • Why it's important to own our own choices
  • How to recognize who's responsible for your current situation

49: If You REALLY Understood Abundance24 Aug 201700:07:30

These days we've been hearing a lot about having an abundance mindset. Many claim to have it, but they still don't seem to be "winning." My two cents? Many people don't truly understand the meaning of the word.

"If you truly understand abundance, the excitement, not the stress, would keep you up at night."

Many don't get that if they truly understood what abundance meant, 90% of their problems would potentially go away. And this mindset doesn't just apply to finances. It's also about leaving a bad relationship because you know there's a better one out there. It's leaving your soul-sucking job because you know you can and will level up. You have a hard-wired belief that even if you lose everything, you know how to get it back (and often more).

"There is no ceiling other than the one we put on ourselves."

Truly understanding abundance means that there's enough to go around for everyone. It means the more you give, the more you get back – in all ways.

So why don't we understand? Did we miss Abundance 101? No! We've just been programmed to only see scarcity from a young age. Whether it be our parents (even though they were well intentioned) or the media (Buy NOW before it's gone!), we've been taught that everything goes away if we don't act now.

So, I challenge YOU to understand abundance and put an end to that lack mentality.

"I challenge you to ask why others keep winning while you follow the rules and can't seem to get ahead."

Question what you've done up to this point, and be open to brand new mindsets if you want something different than you have today.

In This Episode You Will Learn:

  • Why a lack mindset can be linked to the absence of abundance
  • How you are either attracting lack or abundance
  • How the abundance mindset applies to relationships, money, career and more
