Wow, this was a fun episode. If you have ever listened to the Birdies & Bourbon Podcast, then you know how entertaining Cal is. It was a blast having him on this week's episode, and we're pretty confident you will like this one.
BANDON
We had Cal on to talk about his trip to Bandon Dunes last week. It was his first time being on the property, and Joe and Matt have become huge fans of hearing about the experiences of first-time players.
Cal didn't hold back! And, with his stories, he has convinced Jeremy 100% to agree to go on our 2024 trip that is in the works!
Thanks for tuning in; we hope you make it to the end, it's a long one but so good, and we can almost guarantee you'll be adding his show to your listening library!

Well, there isn't exactly a LOT to talk about this week. The holiday season is upon us, and not many people have "listening to a golf podcast" on their to-do lists.
We were looking forward to talking about Tiger Woods playing at the HERO World Challenge, but after his WD Monday morning, eh, the buzz just disappeared.
But we did chat about some local golf out at Pauite, Boulder Creek, and Wildhorse.
Joe might get out to Mesquite this weekend and knock Falcon Ridge off his need-to-play list. While Matt and Jeremy are hoping for a Saturday round, pending some astronomical golf rates.
We eventually got to the odds for the HERO and made our picks for our year-long points race. And then wrapped up the show with some binge-worthy TV since Jeremy has been on lockdown with COVID,
Per Joe's words, this was a Tom and Jerry episode. It was all over the place and went on entirely too long! But it was still a lot of golf and a lot of fun!
Let's get right to the list of Black Friday Deals we mentioned.
The guys covered Matt's update to his 2022 goals and discussed whether Joe and Jeremy set any goals for their game. Joe and Jeremy also might head out to Nellis and play in a golf tourney there this weekend.
Covid Golfer Interview
Matt reached out on IG looking for someone to interview for the show, and we quickly found someone. You guys are fantastic!
Christian, from Las Vegas, is new to the game and joined Matt for a quick 15min interview about how he got into the game. It was a good interview, and we all loved hearing his perspective. Look for more of these quick-type interviews in the future!
Pat vs. Phil
The guys share their takes on the latest to come out of LIV Golf involving Pat Perez and Phil.
BLACK FRIDAY DEALS
On next week's show, we're going to feature as many golf-related black Friday deals for everyone. If you know of a fantastic deal, let us know, and we'll give them a shoutout and listing in the show notes!

It took almost three years, but Matt finally got a win at Revere Golf Club at the VGN Finals! He shot a 75 for a net 65 to grab the tourney title!
We talked about the tournament, how this season went, and how much we're looking forward to the 2023 season for the Vegas Golf Network.
Congrats to the other winners as well. Glenn Hogle for winning the gross division, and a big congratulations to Daniel Hodges (gross) and Sean Wood (net) for winning The Player of the Year in their divisions.
Calm down, all you IG Haters.
After Matt posted a video about his SIM2 driver being "BAD," he got a lot of comments from what one person described as a "Covid Golfer." So Matt set the record straight about the SIM2, the Stealth+, and what led to his victory over the weekend.
Bandon, what are you doing?
Even Bandon Dunes can't hide from the increase in golf these days. Joe and I were bummed to find out the 2024 Solstice event jumped up $500 in price. While it's still a good value for the event, at $1500, it was a great value. Now, it's just a good one. With the Christmas season looming, and Joe's new little one on the way, the guys decided to skip the 2023 Solstice and are planning to return in 2024
Shout out to Seamus Power and Taylor Montgomery
Two Vegas locals are making some waves on the PGA Tour this season. Taylor Montgomery secured another Top 10 this past week in Mexico and has already made $1.3million on tour this season.
Seamus Power is also having a great year. After his win in Bermuda and another solid showing in Mexico, the Vegas Irishman is now leading the FedEx Cup!
Some other chatter from this week's show • Zack Blair's Tree Farm looks impressive, but it Private • The Match is back, and this one is going to be amazing • The UST Mamiya ALL I
Right out the gate, if you're not listening to Birdies and Bourbon, you're missing out! Joe was a guest on their podcast this week (episode goes out 11/3), and we're big fans of what they are up to!
Congrats to the Big Man Seamus Power on his win in Bermuda! Jeremy is also very thankful because he picked Seamus, which ended his winless streak dating back to the 2020-2021 season.
Our favorite courses in Vegas are getting destroyed by grasshoppers. Matt was out at Paiute on Friday, and the hopper was pretty bad, but the Sun course looked untouched by the beasts. Jeremy, however, played the Snow course on Tuesday, and from the pictures he shared, the course is getting annihilated.
We tried to pick the most underrated holes in Vegas, which sent us down a rabbit hole. So now we're going to figure out the most underrated holes in Vegas and the best starting hole in town as well. Off the top of our heads didn't work!
We talked a little about Bandon Dunes since the Birdies and Bourbon guys are headed there later this month, and Whisky Joe has another golf trip planned! He's headed to North Carolina in January with Trey, Dan, and Julien
We wrapped up the show with the odd for this week's PGA Tour event in Mexico and gave some love to the brands who've been supporting us!

It's kind of a slow season n the golfing world for us, even though October weather is the best time of the year to play golf in Vegas. Jeremy let us know that he's been on a break from the game but is eager to get back out there.
Rory is again the Worlds best Golfer, even with some top players who have left. We had a Baby #2 Name Update for Joe and Katies future LPGA Star. Some interesting news was put out by The Shriners Open on Monday. TRUE Linkswear is getting into the Pants game!
If you've been on Instagram for a while and follow golf at all then you're familiar with idaleeeo. I've had the pleasure of hanging out with Orlando and even playing some golf. I can tell you he's even funnier in person and a blast to hang with. He had a SCARY situation happen to him this past weekend where he could have died! It's a crazy story and even better watching him tell it. Go check out his Instagram if you're not following him. We're glad your ok bro!!
Matt is at it again with the driver. This time going for a new head. A PING G425 LST to be exact and the guys chatted about the pending change and what they think will happen.
Before we got into the odds for the Bermuda event, we discussed if Jonah Hill can pull off playing John Daly in a movie.

First, congrats to Joe and his wife, Katie, for the news that a new little one is on the way! Joe is afraid his golf life is over, but if Matt and Jeremy can do it with two kids, Joe can also!
In this week's show, we talked about the VGN (Vegas Golf Network), the last tournament we just played at Boulder Creek, and Jeremy's mental collapse.
Fan favorite El Dan wanted to know what Golf Superpower we would choose from a list he provided, and then we decided to come up with a few of our own. The Jedi Mind Trick for use in the proshop was a winner!
That conversation led to Matt talking about the best book he's read, err, "listened" to in a VERY long time.
The Subtle Art Of Not Giving a F*CK, by Mark Manson Click the link below to see it on Amazon; you'll thank us later! https://amzn.to/3S9aCdZ
And it's been a while, but we did get a little bashing in of the LIV Tour. Joe has come down from his Fanboy love for LIV and had some harsh criticisms for the league.
Lastly, we did a RATE RUNDOWN for the courses here in Vegas. There is no better time than NOW to tee it up in the desert, and the courses here know that. We pulled up Golf Now to check out the weekend rates for the valley, and man, there were some shocking results!

If by chance, you were not pleased with Joe and Matt's recap of the Georgia trip, we brought back Dan and Bob to get their insights into the golf, the courses, the people, the food, and much more.
Joe is in love with Sweetens Cove, so much he obtained 200 passes for January, ok, not 200 but 20. He's pumped to get back there, while Matt was not as impressed as Joe was. Dan and Bob, well, you'll have to listen.
We wrapped up the show talking about The Shriners Open and the battle down the stretch with Cantlay and Tom Kim. Matt also explained how a few tips from Bob out on the course Monday morning helped him get dialed in off the tee and with the wedges.

Matt and Joe are back from the South! As much as we didn't want to get into too much Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee talk, we couldn't resist. Bob and Dan will be joining us again soon to talk more about the trip, but in the meantime, we did a rundown of the courses we played and what it was like out in the South!
We have Shriner's tickets!! Be sure to give us a follow on Instagram and check out the post we're making today. We have four 2-Packs of tickets we'll be giving away to some fans!
Shriner's Week is Here! We didn't dive too deep into the Tournament; we'll be out there for a few days and want to have more to talk about afterward!
If you're out there, keep your peepers open for us! Matt will be out there on Thursday, and all the guys will be on site for Sunday's round.

What if the PGA Tour's traditional tournaments are losing their allure? Join us on this week's episode of The Chasing Daylight as we debate the pressing need for innovation in golf to keep fans engaged. This episode kicks off with a fun jab at our friends in the Pacific Northwest for griping about mild weather while we roast under the Vegas sun. We recount our recent VGN Paiute tournament, showcasing how even tough conditions couldn't dampen our spirits. We also let you in on some exciting news— from hunting for a new producer to revealing the fresh LA Golf shafts being added to Matt's bag, and we question the relevance of the John Deere Classic sandwiched between major events.
Will revisiting iconic courses or introducing fresh venues reignite the thrill of PGA Tour events? We discuss how tournaments like the Shriners, Harbortown, and Kapalua spark our interest and the unique joy of watching competitions at courses we've played, like Torrey Pines. Yet, the need for new, captivating courses to maintain viewer enthusiasm is glaring. We delve into how innovative broadcasting and course rotations like LIV Golf could rejuvenate the PGA Tour. We weigh in on Tom Coyne's intriguing foray into golf course design with Craig & Coyne and what this could mean for future play.
Finally, a big shout-out to our Paiute tournament champs: Aaron Pusey, Alessandro Giampaolo, Rhett Michelson, and Chris Phillips! We relive some memorable moments, including an initially embarrassing shot turned positive with five birdies. As we look ahead to the Wildhorse tournament, we bring you a spirited conversation about the unexpected yet exciting appointment of Keegan Bradley as Ryder Cup captain. His humble acceptance and potential to bridge the gap between veteran players and emerging talents could signify a significant shift. Don't miss our insights on the

It's golf trip week!
After nearly a year in the works, Matt, Joe, Dan, and Bob are headed off to Georgia, Tennessee, and Alabama to get some golf and hopefully avoid the incoming Hurricane.
We also talked about the tournament that just took place out at Coyote Springs, It's called Mitches Revenge, and something very unusual happened.
We also briefly touched on The Presidents Cup. Mainly though, this was about the Georgia trip.
What we have lined up for Golf:
GEORGIA:
Great Waters - Reynolds Lake
The Preserve - Reynolds Lake
Oconee - Reynolds Lake
McLemore
TENNESSEE:
Sweetens Cove
ALABAMA
Pursell Farms

Next week's episode should be a good one as we'll recap the trip,

Special Guest for this week's show The Golf Homie, JP Sovereign joined us for the show this week and it was a blast getting to listen to his perspective of the game. JP is a relatively new player to golf and it's bitten him HARD! He's only been playing for a few years and has already logged nine trips to Bandon!
We chatted about the Portland Golf scene, and his experience at the LIV Portland event. We dabbled a touch on some Presidents Cup talk and what took place with Max Homa and Danny Willett. Man, that was a costly 3-Putt.
We wrapped up the show talking about Bandon Dunes. If you enjoyed our Bandon Preview and wrap-up shows from earlier this year, you'll love this one as well.
A big thank you to JP for hanging with us. Be sure to click on the link for his IG up above and give him a follow. He has some great content coming out of the PNW!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO AARIK GREENELY AND JAMES FEUTZ!!
Jeremy Tired to Kill Matt This was too funny. Matt asked for one of Jeremy's Zyn pouches after the round at Wildhorse and well, that wasn't a wise decision.
Our Round review from Wildhorse Golf Club Matt, Joe, and Jeremy tee'd it up out at Wildhorse Golf Club with our friend of the show Michael Bruscino. Wildhorse was in really good shape aside from the greens. The course is looking greener than ever and it was a great day out there! Shout out to Darden for the invite!
What makes a perfect 15/15 Practice Area After last week's Vegas Rankings Matt had some questions for the guys on what it would take to make a practice area at a course a perfect 15/15
The VGN is headed to Coyote Springs The final Major of the season is here! Coyote Springs Golf Club is the track and there are 36 players making the 1hr drive north of the city to partake in this very important event! So we chatted a little bit about Coyote and previewed the Tourney a little.
The new PGA Tour season is here, already! The PGA Tour is back after a week off and they're teeing it up in Napa Wine Country at the Fortinet Championship. Two Korn Ferry Tour graduates we're keeping a close eye on are in the field this week; Harry Hall and Taylor Montgomery.
It's finally here! We're only six months behind schedule! We tried to get the rankings done by March, but with so much going on in our lives, it kept getting pushed back. After many requests to GET IT DONE, we knocked it out, compiled the data, and recorded our 2022 Vegas Rankings episode.
At the beginning of this episode, we go over the points system and how we came up with the rankings. There is a possibility of 100pts per course. There are 11 courses NOT in the rankings this year, eight of which were included in previous rankings. We pulled the eight because only one of the three of us had played the course, and we felt having only one opinion wasn't what this list was about. The courses not included are:
Shadow Creek
Wynn Golf Club
Casablanca
Eagle Crest
Oasis Golf Club
Durango Hills
Falcon Ridge
Sunrise Vista
The three courses that are not on the list because NONE of us have played them are:
Mojave Resort
Red Rock Country Club
The Summit
Here are the 2022 Vegas Golf Course Rankings! *Bolf courses are private clubs
We were honored to have the Executive Director for our local PGA Tour stop, Patrick Lindsey, on the show.
We covered many topics, including what exactly the Executive Director of a PGA Tour Golf Tournament does. The renovation of TPC Summerlin. Harry and Taylor's Match to get into the field last year and what the future hold for the Fall event when the PGA Tour ends the wrap-around schedule.
We want to thank Mr. Lindsey for taking the time out of his crazy schedule as he's preparing to solidify the field and get all the events dialed in for this big event for our city!
We'll have some tickets to give to some listeners, so stay tuned for that!

This episode of the Chasing Daylight Podcast is packed with insights and anecdotes from our recent rounds, including a memorable golf outing with Mike from Beautiful Golf Courses at Paiute. Something is exciting coming to the Vegas Valley in 2023, and it's called Chip Shots.
When it opens up, Chip Shots will be an indoor private club featuring state-of-the-art hitting bays and simulators, along with some other amenities its members will thoroughly enjoy. A full-service bar with gaming, a cigar bar/lounge, a restaurant, conference rooms, and much more.
The brainchild behind Chip Shots is Keith Langlands. In this episode, Keith and his marketing director Lauren McDougall joined me to talk about how the idea has gone from concept to reality and what the experience will be like once the doors open.
With the golf blowing up ever since the pandemic, places like Chip Shots, I feel, are going to be popping up all over the country. Keith, and his flagship location, are doing their best to make a name for themselves in this exploding market, and I, for one, cannot wait to see it for myself come 2023!

As per usual, Trey Sanders hopped on the mic and joined us for this episode as we prepare for what could be an AMAZING four days of golf from the home of golf.
The conversations got a little deep, and you can tell this one hits home with the guys! It only happens every 5-6 years, so an Open Championship or British Open at St. Andrew's is special.
Could this be Tiger's last run at the Old Course? Will the LIV Players shut the f@$k up and let the golf take center stage for a week. Can Matthew Fitzpatrick go back to back? There are so many questions.
We wrapped up this week's episode with our picks for the championship!
We hope everyone enjoys this last Major of the season! We'll have Trey back on the show as the playoffs for the FedEx Cup inch closer, and he said if Tiger wins, he'll be back on next week!
WHAT HAPPENED IN GOLF THIS PAST WEEK AND WHERE WE PLAYED More LIV Golf coverage from us and our reaction to what's going on in the world of golf. The VGN played another tourney this time at Bear's Best Las Vegas.

Oh, you thought we were done with Bandon, hahaha, the jokes on you!
That's right, even more, Bandon Dunes content this week. But we promise this is it for a while. There's a ton of golf going on worldwide, and we've been a little selfish of late with good intent, of course.
The Bandon trip Matt & Joe took was epic, to say the least, and in this, our last Bandon Series episode, Jeremy is back to join Matt and Joe as they discuss the actual Solstice event, and then Jeremey has some questions for the guys.
We wrapped up the show with some current golf news and an update to our Picks Contest and our LOCKS for the John Deer.
Thanks again, everyone, for tuning in! Please do us a favor and leave a review on Apple or Spotify!
Twas the night before Solstice, and all through the house... Well, the Lily Pond condo, to be more exact.
Matt and Joe discuss their first few days on the property in this special release as they prepare for the 2022 Solstice.
Shorty's, Bandon Trails, The Preserve, and Sheep Ranch are the course they had played up to this point, and the following day they are taking a 30-mile walk on the property for the Solstice.
Joe talks a lot about what it's like being on the Bandon grounds for the first time. If you're considering a trip to Bandon, what Joe says in this episode will help you understand the magical feeling you get when you arrive.
Next week they'll be recapping the entire trip as well, and Jeremy will have a ton of questions for them!
With Joe and Matt out of town and the three of us (Jeremy included in this) not completing our Vegas Rankings Spreadsheets yet, we needed some content for this week.
Thankfully our good friend Neal "Rohrs" Rhorbach was available for some phone time, so he and Matt hopped on a call and talked about the US Open since he was on site doing some "If I told you, I'd have to kill you" work at the tournament.
It's a little peek inside the ropes of a Major Championship.
We'll be back next week with some Amazing Bandon Dunes chatter, and Matt and Jow will be recanting the Bandon Trip as well as our regular topics of conversation!
Thanks for listening, and please give us a review on Spotify and iTunes!
It's been a while since we've all been together to record a weekly episode. We had A LOT to catch up on, and that's what the first half of this episode is about.
We covered, albeit quickly, Harry winning on the KFT Tour and Qualifying for the US OPEN! Jeremy played Harbor Town, Matttouredg the Pacific North West, Some history on the LPGA, Matts's new Driver shaft (not a typo), Jeremy's new irons, and it wouldn't have been complete without some LIV Golf talk.
We eventually get to the US Open talk, unlike our last MAJOR PREVIEW!
It will be a great MAJOR, and we all can't wait to see who comes home with the win Sunday evening.
Joe and Matt are headed off to Bandon for the Bandon Solstice event, so we'll have something different for you next week.
What a wild day in the world of golf. Yesterday, June 9th, 2022, will arguably go down in history for the game, but what side of history will the LIV GOLF Tour end up on is the question!
I threw up the CDP Bat Signal and gathered the crew for an Emergency Broadcast to talk about what the hell happened today and what the hell is going to happen in the coming days!
Joe, Jeremy, Myself, Bob, and Trey all chimed in on LIV Golf and shared our opinions on what we feel will take place in our beloved game!
Have you ever wondered how a die-hard sports fan balances life, recovery, and passion? Join us as Neal "Rohrs" Rohrbach brings his electric enthusiasm for the Florida Panthers and shares his inspiring journey of resilience after multiple surgeries. With the Stanley Cup victory fresh in mind, Roars opens up about his health challenges, his gradual return to work at Shell Bay Golf Club, and the heartwarming quality time spent with his son on various projects. Our co-hosts Joe and Dan also chime in with their tales of home repairs and automotive adventures, making this episode a delightful mix of personal triumphs and everyday anecdotes.
And when you think it can't get more entertaining, Jeremy makes a lively return to the show, donning his eye-catching ATACSAC hat. We dive into a playful discussion about the quirks of reading mirrored text, adding a dash of humor to our golf chat. With mentions of mutual connections like Justin Eldridge, who recently enjoyed a round at Shell Bay, this episode is a must-listen for anyone craving a blend of camaraderie, updates on personal and professional lives, and some good old-fashioned golf banter. Please tune in to share in our victories, laugh at our mishaps, and catch up with friends new and old.
After the break, Matt and Rohrs spill the beans on their new show, which is coming soon.
Fitter, Builder, Player. will be a more technical side of the game where they'll discuss the facets of the game we typically abandon here on the weekly show.
Keep your eye out for new episodes hitting the podcast airwaves soon.
We have a new partnership with The Golf Stop. Be sure to stop by their new facility and check it out! Part 2 of our preview of the Bandon Solstice. We were hoping Scott Dunlop, who is a caddy out at Bandon, was going to join us, but he caught a late bag and made a second loop. So it was just Joe and I talking about the preparations we're making as we get ready to head off the Solstice next weekend!
Matt and Joe are headed to Bandon in just under a month! This will be Joe's first time stepping on the property and Matt's 4th.
Needless to say, Joe has a ton of questions because this isn't your typical Bandon Dunes buddy's trip. We'll be attending the Bandon Solstice, where we'll be playing four of the courses onsite all in one day. And there are no carts at Bandon for those of you who don't know; we're walking.
As we mentioned earlier, this will be Matt's 3rd Solstice and Joe's first. Walking 72 holes in one day is a marathon. It tests not only your physical abilities but also your mind. It's a journey, an adventure, and a memory you'll keep for a lifetime.
Since this will be the 3rd time Matt has partaken in the Solstice, he and Joe decided it would be fun to do a couple of episodes to preview the trip and talk about the event.
This is Part 1, and we'll follow up next week's weekly show with part two while some of the crew is on vacation.
So if you're curious about Bandon Dunes and the Solstice event that takes place every year, this little series will be perfect for you!
WHAT HAPPENED IN GOLF THIS PAST WEEK AND WHERE WE PLAYED Rounds out at Las Vegas Country Club, Coyote Springs and Paiute has Matt on the verge of a breakdown, from too much golf!! [GASP]
Of all people, the great Jack Nicklaus was making some headlines this past week and yuup, it's about the LIV Tour. Bubba Watson made the news this week too and unfortunately it's not because of his great play in Oklahoma.

E161: Sometimes, you have to gather the crew and just ramble on about golf.
This week's episode was supposed to be our 2022 PGA Championship Preview Show, and while we did cover a little bit of it, we got somewhat sidetracked.
It turns out that when you get myself, Joe, Jeremy, Trey, and Bob together, we can take a Major Preview episode and turn it into something much more entertaining. We didn't get to the Joe Rogan 3hr mark, but we tried, and honestly, if we hadn't run out of beer, we might still be talking!
If you like golf talk, then this one might be for you. We tackled a handful of subjects, most notable the 10,000,000 new golfers that have come to the game. WARNING, if you're the sensitive type, you may want to wait for next week's show!
We hope you enjoy this ELONGATED episode of the Chasing Daylight Podcast!

We love finding new clothing brands, and when we see them originating from the Vegas "area," we get even more excited!
Merlin John comes from the small tourist trap golf town of Mesquite, NV. It's a short drive, maybe an hour or so, north of Las Vegas, and it's home to a few rather spectacular golf courses. Merlin hopes that with the launch of her new clothing brand BIA Clothing, her vision will bring some other notoriety to the tiny desert town.
Young, inspired, and passionate about her work, Merlin is bringing a slew of new ideas and products to the brand, and we only see a positive upside for her going forward.
I want to thank Merlin for stopping by the studio while she was recently in town and sitting down with me to talk about BIA Clothing.
