šĀ Two Kings, Two Outcomes: Why Identity Matters in Disciple-Making
When we look at the lives of King Saul and King David, one thing becomes strikingly clear: both were chosen, both were anointed, but only one left a legacy aligned with Godās heart.
In theĀ CDM Podcast, Paul Watson explains that the real difference between Saul and David wasnāt talent, opportunity, or even failureāit was identity.
Saulās identity was rooted in his role.
He constantly made decisions based on fear of man and the need to protect his position. Even when he received direct instructions from God, he compromised to preserve appearances. Saul was more concerned with how he looked to others than how he stood before God. His identity was unstable, tied to performance and approval.
Davidās identity, however, was rooted in his relationship with God.
Even in failureālike his sin with BathshebaāDavid responded with humility, repentance, and a desire to be restored. His actions werenāt always godly, but his heart always turned back to God. His identity was built not on perfection but onĀ connectionāhe knew who he was because he knew whose he was.
