Using little more than a Youtube account a middle aged woman living in a boarding house in Victoria, BC has convinced thousands of people across the country that a global group of allied countries have appointed her Queen of Canada and Commander in Chief of Canada. Her followers (who refer to themselves as We The People) believe her many royal decrees to be law and they act accordingly. One such decree, an end to all covid related mandates, slowly evolved and mutated into a group of her followers laying Siege to the Peterborough Police Station with the goal of arresting the staff and turning them over to the American military to face charges of crimes against humanity. For nearly a year now, a middle aged woman in Victoria, BC has been publishing videos and releasing written statements in which she claims to have been appointed as Queen of Canada and head of government by a collective of allied nations. It may sound laughable, but Romana Didulo has been embraced by the online Qanon conspiracy subculture and as a result she has found herself with a large devoted following, upwards of 70k members in fact, and many of them believe her every word. Romana Didulo has declared the version of Canada she claims to lead a vaccination free country... and has declared vaccine administration a crime against humanity that is punishable by death... and she seems to have given her followers approval to carry out the enforcement. To help us understand the story, I've turned to Peter Smith, a journalist with the Canadian Antihate network, who has been tracking Romana's activities since she first surfaced as an influential extremist leader. 2006, Near Regina Beach, Saskatchewan On the third night of a three day long graduation party, a group of people unconnected to the event crashed the party. At some point after their arrival tensions flared between members of the groups. What started off as a verbal altercation in a dimly lit field has evolved into one of Regina's most often discussed unsolved murders. Despite there being nearly 200 in attendance, and 17 years of finger pointing, investigators have yet been able to prove who killed 19 year old Misha Pavelick. In June of 1997 two Halifax Regional Police officers took a break from the action to have a coffee and catch their breath. They pulled into a dark lot behind a Tim Hortons, pulled their cruisers window to window, and began to chat... unaware their lives were about to change forever. This episode is going to take us to Hogsback Lake, a sort of natural recreation area southeast of Vanderhoof, British Columbia. Although the area is known by locals as an ideal spot for camping and fishing, it has also become known as the setting for one of Canada's most often discussed missing person cases. On May 28, 2011, then 20 year old Maddy Scott attended an annual party at Hogsback Lake. Maddy and her friend Jordi intended to camp out at the lake together but unexpected attendees and alcohol would lead to Maddy being left behind to camp alone. The next morning the only thing found at the lake was Maddy's truck and an empty tent. Over the past 12 years the search for Maddy would receive international attention and a ravenous online following despite very little in the way of clues or developments but that all changed just last week and dramatically so. This story takes us to Pickering, Ontario During the early morning hours of March 17th, 1995 a group of six teenagers leave a house party in the area with plans to "goof around" at a nearby marina. Security cameras at the Marina show three of the boys enter the area just prior to 2am. They, nor the other three boys they left the party with, have ever been seen again. The only evidence suggesting their possible whereabouts was two reports of stolen watercraft. Then 26 year old civil engineer Andrew Gnazdowsky and a co-worker were on site completing a survey of a Nova Scotia Power dam near Sheet Harbour in October of 2020. When a technology failure disrupted their work, Andrew made the fateful decision to enter the water and collect the failed equipment. Moments later, Andrew would briefly yell for help before ultimately disappearing below the still water. In the year since Andrew's tragic death, the Gnazdowsky's have been steadfast in their belief that the investigation into Andrew's death has been at best flawed and at worst completely compromised… and it's not just a hunch that tells them that. Conflicts of interest, erroneous death records, the scrubbing online records, bureaucratic flip flopping, and opportunistic politicians... This story has all of it. This episode takes us to the city of Toronto, Ontario More specifically it take us onto the many trains, buses and street cars that rumble their way around it. The TTC, or the Toronto Transit Commission, is the public transit system that services Toronto's diverse population. Using a mix of subways, buses, and street cars the TTC is Canada's largest public transit system. With nearly 2 million riders a day, the TTC serves as the setting for many of life’s events; babies born onboard, the first moments of countless love stories, and of course there is murder… and that's what we will be discussing. This episode takes us to Prince George, British Columbia. On the evening of August 1, 1989 Ronnie and Doreen Jack went to their neighbourhood pub looking for a bite to eat and a few drinks. Instead, they found a mystery man with an enticing job offer that would forever change their lives and the lives of everyone who loved them. Ronnie would do logging, Doreen could help in the kitchen, and their two kids would be taken care of at the remote camps daycare facility. Transportation wouldn't be a problem either, the mystery man could drive them to the camp that night. The last time any member of the Jack family was seen was only a few short hours later… packing some of their belongings in a truck. This story takes us to Sagkeeng First Nation in Manitoba. In April of 2017 this community of about 3000 people would provide the setting for an event watched around the world. Specifically, watched by those seeking videos of gore, death, and humanity’s darkest moments. Then 19 year old Serena McKay's life would end as the result of a vicious, violent, and merciless attack committed by two young women, with some of the most brutal moments being live streamed to facebook... and from there shared across the internet. In this episode, our story will take us to the quite town of Wolfville, Nova Scotia. In September of 1992, then 20 year old Cape Bretoner, Kenley Matheson arrived in Wolfville to begin classes at Acadia University. Only two weeks into the school year, he was last seen by a friend walking on Main Street in Wolfville carrying a red and black backpack. There has not been any proof of life, or credible sightings of him since. In the early morning hours of November 25, 2012, 3rd year Mount Allison student Chris Metallic ended a night of partying with friends.  A belly full of alcohol played a part in his decision to leave the party, and certainly played a part in him leaving his shoes and wallet behind… that was going to be a problem to solve the next morning. Wearing borrowed sandals Chris just wanted to go home and sleep it off.  Over 10 years later.. Chris still hasn't arrived home and the trail he left behind doesn't offer much to go on. At some point during the early morning of July 5, 2004, 5 year old Tamra Keepness seems to have simply vanished from her home. The facts of that evening, as well as the behaviours of the adults responsible for Tamra's care, are more than a bit hazy.
