The Camera Doesnât Matter is a new photography podcast that focuses on how some of the best photographers and photojournalists in the world create their images.
The podcast goes beyond equipment, to focus on what truly matters, the photographerâs vision, voice and perspective on the world that they reveal to us all through their images.
Hosted by photojournalist and filmmaker Sean Gallagher, this interview-style podcast is a series of conversations that reveal the stories behind iconic photos and the working processes of professional photographers.
These conversations not only give insights into how professional photographers work but also how amateur and aspiring professional photographers can use the same ideas, concepts and methods to improve their own images.

From humble beginnings as a photography student in the UK, Mikko has risen through the world of photography to become one of the most respected photo editors in the industry, having worked with leading publications including TIME magazine and now the New York Times.
By day, he is involved in assigning photojournalists to cover some of the most important current affairs issues of our time. But he is also a photographer himself and has just published his first photo book, 'Hong Kong,' which reveals his unique vision of one of the world's most fascinating cities.
In this episode, Sean and Mikko discuss the power of photo editing, how Mikko make's his choices when editing and sequencing, along with how he balances life as a photo editor and photographer. Mikko also gives his advice to aspiring photographers who might want to follow his unique path in the industry.

In this episode of The Camera Doesnât Matter podcast, Sean Gallagher speaks to American conservation photographer and underwater photojournalist, Jenny Adler.
She holds a degree in marine biology from Brown University and a PhD in interdisciplinary ecology from the University of Florida and as a trained scientist, she specializes in communicating conservation issues through underwater photography.
She is a trained freediver , cave diver and the ongoing theme in her work is the connection between people and water in a changing climate.Â
Her grant-funded and assignment work has taken her all over the world to document science and conservation for The Nature Conservancy, National Geographic, Huffington Post, Vox, and the International Women's Media Foundation.

Stefen Chow - From Mount Everest to World Press Photo

In this episode of The Camera Doesnât Matter podcast, Sean Gallagher speaks to Malaysian photographer, Stefen Chow and discusses with him the making of some of his most iconic photos.
From humble beginnings as an engineering student in Singapore, Stefenâs career took off when he returned from the summit of Mount Everest with photos that would change his life. As an aspiring photojournalist based in Beijing, he photographed Chinese artist Ai Weiwei which earned him a World Press Photo portrait prize in 2013. Since then he has gone on to become one of Asiaâs leading commercial photographers and has also found a new identity as a visual artist, with his work now held in the permanent collections of The Museum of Modern Art, in New York.
