The Cab Chat Show Episode 299 A 120-vehicle taxi convoy, a five-mile ribbon of cabs, and one unforgettable mission to Disneyland Paris โ this is the inside story of the Magical Taxi Tour for children with life-limiting illnesses. Jamie the Cabbie and Tom the Taxi Driver pull back the curtain on the logistics, the emotion, and the community that turns a weekend trip into something that feels bigger than a lifetime. Jamie, who has been involved since 2000, and Tom, now on his fifth year, break down how the tour actually works โ from the Canary Wharf Big Breakfast and police escort, to the ferry crossing, to the extraordinary stop in France where a whole town comes out with bands, face painters, balloon artists, sandwiches, and costumes. It sounds impossible on paper. Somehow, every year, the cab trade makes it happen. You'll discover:
The episode also reveals the scale behind the goodwill: thousands of taxis, thousands of children, tens of thousands of gallons of fuel, and a volunteer effort that runs all year long. | We Have Lyft Off | Cab Chat E261 | 11 May 2025 | 00:11:32 | |
We have Lyft Off, yes The Cab Chat Show is back with a slightly new format and we are now also on YouTube. I am gong to be having more guests on the show going forward, people from within the trade and also those who supply services to Londonโs Taxi Drivers. I may also revisit some of the old interviews that I did over the years and then go back and try to interview those people again to see if their views and opinions have changed of the trade. Most of the shows will now be recorded in the back of a taxi as I do not have another venue to conduct these interviews and I personally think that being as the show is called Cab Chat recording from within a Taxi is probably the best place to record them. We will also beiong doing the old format Cab Chat Show like we did in the past and I may try to get the old team back together to see what they are all doing these days, we just need to find somewhere that would lend us a venue to be able to achieve this. FreeNow has been acquired by Lyft the American ride sharing company and I ask the question? What is the difference between a driving being on FreeNow and being on Uber?
