This episode of The Business of Thinking Big takes a practical, no-nonsense approach to setting up your CEO salary. You’ll learn about the common issues that hold female entrepreneurs back when it comes to the money side of our businesses — and how to start recognizing and honouring your own value!

| Moving Through Money Blocks | 08 Dec 2022 | 00:46:15 | |
Are you ready to start feeling better about money, so that you can make MORE of it — joyfully and on your own terms? Women, and particularly women entrepreneurs, have a tendency to hold themselves back when it comes to having MORE — more wealth, more prosperity, more abundance. Often, this resistance to having more stems from unconscious beliefs that we hold about money, beliefs that we learned as children and that have been passed down to us by our families, our mentors, and society as a whole. Our beliefs about money can create powerful money blocks that hold us back from making our biggest, boldest power moves… and even make us feel guilty for wanting to be paid what we’re actually worth! This can lead us to undervalue our offers, to choose not pursue the biggest and juiciest contracts, and to think small rather than thinking BIG. Healing your money mindset will have incredible benefits, not only for your business but for your overall life goals. Tune in to learn how to recognize and move through your money blocks, and why wanting MORE doesn’t make you greedy or selfish… it can actually help you create an even bigger impact! | Unexpected Growth | 27 Oct 2022 | 00:27:54
The last couple of years have been a time of transition for many people… and for many small businesses. The slower pace of business these days may have you feeling impatient or frustrated — full disclosure, I can feel a little bit impatient myself at times! But it’s important to understand that each person who considers your offers will be at a different stage of readiness, and you won’t always get that instant YES. These days, many of the people considering your offers will need some time to marinate, even when they TRULY want to work with you… and that’s okay. I can tell you right now, patience is definitely a virtue when it comes to entrepreneurship! When we hold specific expectations for the ways that things “should” happen in our businesses, it can be very easy to overlook growth and opportunities that don’t match our expectations. When we don’t match up to a specific internalized idea of success, we can feel as though we’re failures or imposters. It’s time to reconsider the way that you think about growth… and realize that you may be more successful than you give yourself credit for! In this episode, you’ll discover:

| Refocusing after a Break | 08 Sep 2022 | 00:26:07 | |
We all need breaks. When I say “break,” I’m not talking about taking a few moments away from work to change a dirty diaper or drive the kids to soccer practice. We all need REAL downtime where we are able to fully unplug and step away from our obligations and responsibilities for a little while — this is essential in terms of being able to recharge and avoid burnout. As mompreneurs, we’re conditioned to feel needed all the time and that often leads us to feel guilty when we consider taking some time away from our businesses to just be present for ourselves or for our families. Even worse, when we actually DO schedule some downtime, we can wind up experiencing overwhelm when we return to work and feel as though we need to work twice as hard just to catch up — yikes! Working HARDER isn’t the key to being successful. If you want to be a focused and capable leader for your team and for your clients, you need to create a healthy balance that allows you to show up refreshed and ready to shine. In other words, taking breaks is actually GOOD for your business! In this episode, I share my top strategies for re-focusing after a break and getting the biggest benefit from your downtime. Because you deserve it! In this episode, you’ll discover:

| Overcoming the Fear of Visibility | 01 Sep 2022 | 00:28:55 | |
What does your brand’s Instagram look like? Is your page full of impersonal images and motivational quotes from other people… without a single picture of you to be seen? Now more than ever, creating a personal connection with your audience is essential! People want to understand your values and know that there is a real person behind the screen before they decide whether they want to work with you. If you want to be successful, you need to get comfortable with being a little vulnerable. Yvonne Chavez is one of my amazing A-Players and the founder and CEO of Lotus Fitness Studio, an outdoor studio located in Whittier, California with a focus on wellness and community. In order to grow her business, she needed to step up and move into the spotlight as the face and voice of her brand — something that Yvonne (and many other women entrepreneurs) often find challenging. In this episode of the Business of Thinking Big, we talk about the journey from beginner business owner to seasoned and successful leader of an empire, why it’s so important to be authentic and visible, and why being an entrepreneur can sometimes feel like living a double life! In this episode, you’ll discover:

In this week’s episode of the Business of Thinking Big, I sit down with A-Player and @lotusfitstudio CEO Yvonne Chavez to talk about how she stepped up and moved into the spotlight as the face and voice of her brand — and why this was SO important to her growth! No matter how great your strategy is, mindset remains a critical piece of the puzzle when it comes to turning your ideas into confident action, making greater impact, and reaping the rewards. It’s the mindset choices that you intentionally make, each and every day, that will help you step into your CEO role and build real momentum in your business. In this episode of the Business of Thinking Big, I sit down with not one, but TWO of my amazing A-Players to talk about the mindset shifts that have helped them move into motion and begin to build the businesses that they’ve always dreamed of running. | Stop Settling in your Business | 18 Aug 2022 | 00:21:14
When it comes to your business (and the rest of your life, for that matter), it’s time to stop settling for “good enough!” You deserve to be serving the kind of clients you want to work with, making the kind of money that will fuel your desired lifestyle, and doing the type of work that lights you up and aligns with your purpose and goals. So… why do so many of us settle for a business that is just okay? Yes, as mompreneurs, we can be a little short on time! But once we fall into a pattern of “just keeping up” with our content, sales, and marketing, rather than growing, then our business isn’t thriving — it’s only surviving. In this episode, I’ll help you define your five-year vision, get really clear and detailed on your goals, and start taking the impactful actions that will help you build the business and lifestyle that you truly deserve. Grab a pen and notebook, you’ll definitely want to take some notes for this one! In this episode, you’ll discover:

| How to Say No | 04 Aug 2022 | 00:35:13 | |
Saying “No” — and sticking to it — is a skill that it has taken me years to (almost) master. Although it can feel a little uncomfortable to draw boundaries, this skill is absolutely vital to have in your toolbox as a business owner, and especially as a mompreneur. Chances are, much of your time is spent serving other peoples’ agendas, from creating no-bake cheesecake bars for the bake sale to serving on a Board of Directors for a community organization… and this is on top of driving to swim practice, picking up from sleepovers, or doing the weekly grocery shop! With such a limited amount of time available to us, we MUST ensure that we are taking on the tasks and opportunities that are worth our time and energy. And when it comes to our businesses, we need to make sure that we’re saying “Yes!” to the tasks and opportunities that are most aligned with our goals — and in order to do that, we can’t let ourselves be caught up with projects and clients that aren’t serving our greater purpose. Remember: when one door closes, a million doors open! This episode is all about creating more time freedom in your schedule, and learning how to recognize and leverage the amount of choice you actually have in how you spend your time (great news: you have more choice than you realize!). BONUS: I also share a script that will help you politely decline the not-portunities that come your way. In this episode, you’ll discover:

| The Art of Receiving | 21 Jul 2022 | 00:42:30 | |
Are you unknowingly telling your potential customers that you aren’t worth their investment?? It’s not easy to ask for what we want and sometimes it can be hard to accept what we need — or even what we have earned. In order for your business to thrive, you need to be creating offers and selling those offers to people willing and eager to pay for them. This is a healthy and necessary exchange that is going to create value for both sides… but many business owners, women in particular, have trouble with the receiving side. There’s a fine art to receiving abundance that many people haven’t mastered. Some of us may even feel a little afraid or anxious when it comes to receiving wealth. In fact, many of us feel UNWORTHY of it. This resistance to receiving wealth can even prevent us from setting up the systems we need in order to organize our business finances, which can lead to very unpleasant experiences when tax season rolls around — yikes! Even worse, when you truly believe that you are unworthy to receive, you send that energy out into the universe… and the people you deal with WILL pick up on it. In this episode, you’ll learn how to identify the ways that you may be unknowingly sabotaging your own chances of success, with real-world examples and actionable solutions to help you heal your mindset! You’ll discover:

| My fave Business Books Part 4 | 30 Jun 2022 | 00:29:02 | |
Summer is here and you know what that means: it’s time for my Top 10 Favourite Business Books! If you get to enjoy a little downtime during the warmer months (and I hope that you do!), these are the books that I highly recommend tucking into your luggage or your beach tote in the coming weeks. These aren’t necessarily books that are hot off the presses, but each of them contains resonant business insights or strategies, no matter when they were first published. This year, I’ve made an effort to seek out and include more diverse authors in this list since exploring new perspectives is a great way to expand your own, and I’d love to have more of my mamapreneurs recognize elements of their own experiences! This year’s list covers both mindset and business strategy, and includes books about implementing habits, cold calling, harnessing your energy, dealing with doubt and fear, and lessons on meditation written by a monk. Does a fear of failure hold you back from taking big, bold steps in your business — or from launching altogether? You’re not alone! As entrepreneurs, we feel pressure from ALL sides. We want to impress not only our customers, but our fellow entrepreneurs, friends, and family. | Business Lessons from my Dad | 16 Jun 2022 | 00:18:14
In honour of Father’s Day, I’ve put together a very special episode of the Business of Thinking Big podcast. In this episode, I share six of the most insightful and powerful lessons about business that I learned from my dad.
When it comes to marketing, my dad was expert. At the time of his retirement, he was the Media Director for The Hudson’s Bay Company, and that’s just one of many high-level marketing positions that he held during his long and successful career. Though he retired before the rise of digital media, the lessons that he passed on to me are fundamental business principles that still hold up strongly today. As I’ve built a thriving business and helped other mompreneurs grow their own, his teachings have continued to guide me.
Now, I want to share them with YOU.
This episode does get a little emotional, but I believe that vulnerability and authenticity are important… and I KNOW that you’ll find amazing benefit in these timeless lessons. Grab a pen, and let’s get started.
In this episode, you’ll learn: · The importance of doing things YOUR way and figuring out how your brain works best · Why the loudest voice in the room isn’t always the most respected — even when they’re in a leadership role · How to cultivate a healthier and more productive money mindset at any income
Timestamps: 00:01 Intro 02:01 My father’s career 03:24 You don’t have to be loud 04:59 Don’t take yourself too seriously 07:02 Do it your way 09:07 Don’t stress about money 12:05 Ask for what you want 14:33 Make people feel special

| Change Your Relationship with Money with Karen Choi | 28 Apr 2022 | 00:53:04 | |
Money is the root of all evil. I’m not good with money. It’s not polite to talk about money. Many women entrepreneurs subscribe to these negative beliefs, even if it’s unconscious. We want money, but we can feel disconnected from the idea of actually making it. If we think about wealth, we picture it belonging to people who don’t look like us. These beliefs are shaped in our childhoods and have a powerful effect on the way that we relate to money throughout our lives… and in the way we run our businesses. Many women are actually resistant to the idea of earning more revenue than what they need to survive! If thinking about money makes you feel scared, uncomfortable, or ashamed, then it’s time for you to heal your money mindset. In this episode, I talk to authenticity coach Karen Choi about how to develop a healthy relationship with money, feel more confident in pursuing wealth, and empower our children with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive financially. In this episode, you’ll learn:
About Karen Choi: Karen is an authenticity coach who works one-to-one with professionals who value authenticity in their life choices, career moves, relationships, and creative outputs. | Fake It Till You Make It | 21 Apr 2022 | 00:22:47
“Fake it till you make it.” As popular as this expression is, a lot of people feel a lot of resistance to the idea of “faking it.” Faking it can feel false, inauthentic, or even dishonest. But at its core, “fake it till you make it” is a powerful way to tap into The Law of Attraction. The Law of Attraction is the idea that we can attract the things we want into our lives through giving them our attention and energetically willing them to happen. This isn’t just a metaphysical idea, it also works on a psychological level! What we believe has a huge effect on how we act — and by truly opening ourselves up to new possibilities, we actually make them more probable. New possibilities such as landing that amazing client you’ve been dreaming about, being paid what you’re really worth, and becoming a thought leader in your niche. In this episode, I share specific steps that will help you get into the right mindset to attract the things you want the most. You are never going to feel 100% ready to take on new challenges… but if you’re ready to master the art of faking it till you make it, press play! In this episode, you’ll discover:
